Amazing @SpiralSister !

I think I’m having a fairly similar experience to you!

The shops is like a whole new world now - and feel more confident than I did when I was 25. Will be hitting the high street again soon. Really looking forward to it!

@Bluehels how are you today after doing arm jab yesterday? Think I might try it on Monday

WelshRarebit18 · 05/04/2025 19:18

I’ve done 4 weeks of 5mg but have decided to do a half dose this week as it’s the Easter hols and I’ll be away with family and I don’t want to get any sicky side effects. I seem to suffer with nausea and bloating a couple of days after I jab each time. Really hope I’ll dodge that this week!

mysparkleismissing · 05/04/2025 20:22

Evening All
Did my 4th 5mg dose this afternoon, skipped my normal jab day yesterday as was having a rough day didn't wanna add it into the mix!
Gonna stick with 5mg but definitely wish is was quicker... last 2 weeks have been 1lb loss with 7000-8500 calorie deficit each week over the past fortnight.

mumandgran24 · 05/04/2025 20:50

I have had a big slowdown in weight loss the last couple of weeks as well despite still feeling full fast and big suppression and counting calories and being under all week. Weirdly my jeans feel looser though so not sure if my body shape is changing.

Maro11 · 06/04/2025 06:13

Start of week 6 , I moved my jab by a couple of days to a Sunday

SW 118.8
CW 109.8

19.5Ibs gone in 5 and a bit weeks

staying on 2.5 for my second pen, tolerating it well so will stay with it as long as the scales are dropping, slowly but surely.

I’m usually impatient with weight loss, trying to undo years in weeks, adjusting my mindset this time.

Have a great week everyone

mefornow · 06/04/2025 08:22

Weigh in day for me
SW 226 lbs
CW 194 lbs!!!
I'm finally back into the 13 stone category and this week I had my first person question if I’m losing weight! So happy with where I’ve got to so far. Another 10lbs will take me back to my weight when I got married and out of the obese category so that’s my target for now…

Nothingoriginalhere · 06/04/2025 10:39

Hi, I'm halfway through my second 2.5 pen but have definitely noticed lots more food noise the last 2 weeks and I have even fancied a wine or 2.
I do have a 5mg pen ready to go but was thinking of trying to increase the dose from the 2.5 as there is 2 doses left - would like to do a halfway one - is it possible so 3.75mg from the 2.5 pen?
Any help appreciated

A question for folks who aren’t telling anyone about being on Mounjaro, do you feel bad for ‘lying’ when people ask how you’re losing weight?

Ive been getting a lot of comments this week about my weight loss and people want to know how I’m doing it. I just say a high protein diet/ calorie counting/ less carbs.

Only my DP knows I’m on Mounjaro. But it Feels a bit dishonest not to mention that when people ask me how I’m doing this and how I’m resisting the carbs and sweet stuff. They’re slightly baffled at my new found “will power”.

I don’t know maybe it’s just me lol. I could tell them about the MJ and give the whole speel about it being prescribed and obesity is a medical problem and I need it to help me stop obsessing about food all the time etc. But these people have never been obese and I don’t think they would get it? Or they would be judgy and have a lot of opinions. Just can’t be bothered with all that!

Shefliesonherownwings · 06/04/2025 15:34

DH is doing Mounjaro with me but neither of us have told anyone else. Have only had a couple of comments from family and we’ve both just said we’ve been calorie counting, and eating cleaner with smaller portions. That seems to have been accepted and is pretty much the truth aside from the reason why we’ve been able to do this which is the injections. I don’t feel bad at all, I’m not interested in getting into debates about willpower or cost or side effects as it’s no one else’s business. It’s working for us and I’m not here to listen to any judgement so I’ll be keeping it to myself, it really doesn’t bother me not telling anyone else.

Mounjaronewbie25 · 06/04/2025 15:38

@Shefliesonherownwings my DP is on Mounjaro too so it’s nice we can do this together. I’m sure I will crack eventually and tell people, maybe once I’ve got to goal weight lol. Or maybe not. Like you say it’s no one else’s business.

Hangryfastjo · 05/04/2025 17:30

Hey. I would that I haven’t felt any increase in suppression, except for not being hungry at breakfast time. I have noticed that I’m incredibly tired and cold this weekend. Its my second 7.5mg jab, I didn't feel like this last weekend. I will see how I feel for the rest of the week and then decide whether I should try arm again.
I have tried stomach before ans had no supression that week. Maybe Im just a thigh girl 🤣

OntheTrainX · 06/04/2025 16:19

I haven’t told anyone because I cba with a debate. It’s like when the conversation turns to Reform.

When I explain that I’ve been eating less and playing more golf and hitting the gym, I’m being truthful.

I don’t like the idea that fellow overweight people might feel bad about themselves, thinking that they’ve less discipline than I have. But tbh I’m just focusing on me at the moment. I’m 52 and I want to optimise my chances of a long retirement.

Zazu44 · 06/04/2025 16:19

Does anyone have flu like symptoms on 5mg?

Marypoppinsisnosaint · 06/04/2025 16:28

@Shefliesonherownwings I've told no one, not even my husband. This weekend is the first weekend people have really noticed but they know I've been calorie counting and I've changed how we've been eating since the beginning of the year. So they've put it down to that, which isn't a complete lie.

I did however feel guilty whilst chatting to my sil. She's been trying to lose weight since January and not getting very far doing slimming world. My mil was making a big fuss of my weight lost (in a nice way, not meaning to make anyone feel bad) I was trying to play it down like it wasn't a big deal but I could see in sil face how deflated she was.

Other than that everyone else can do one, I like others can't be bothered with defending it x

MynameisJune · 06/04/2025 16:39

I told my mum and my sister and wish I hadn’t, they’ve been incredibly judgemental saying I don’t know what I’m putting in my body etc.

And yesterday a family friend commented on my weight loss and I was very quiet and just said yeah I’ve lost a little bit thanks but my sister couldn’t resist making a dig about not asking ‘how I’ve done it’ so then I had to tell about 10 people.

My sister has never been obese or even overweight, she’s so used to being the slim sister and I’m sure she’d deny it but I think that’s colouring her opinion of it.

OntheTrainX · 06/04/2025 16:47

I think that people who’ve never struggled with their weight and food really don’t “get it”. Genuinely.

I am doing 3.75 at the moment and really liking it. However I take my dose every 4 days.

If I were you I'd try and use a syringe to get the right dose. Some people may say do two injecting at once. The manufacturer says not to do a second injection within 3 days so I personally wouldn't go down that route. Each to their own though.

ivegotthekeyivegotthesecret · 06/04/2025 17:02

I still haven't told anyone including DH I'm on Mj. People know I'm calorie counting based on macros and hiking and that's all they need to know.

They don't know the names of any other medication I'm on so why should I tell them about this.

I should have said I take a 1/2 dose every 4 days.

Do you think your sister is going to be jealous when she's not the only slim one?

Oh goodness I would've been so cross that's really unfair of her. I'm sorry.

Ah that really sucks, I’m sorry she did that. I should imagine maybe she likes being ‘the slim sister’ and you’ve upset her view of things a little. Don’t let it get to you x

I’m not sure if she’d be jealous per se, she has a life many would envy. But maybe it’s just that it’s changing the status quo.

Mounjaronewbie25 · 06/04/2025 17:29

@OntheTrainX @Marypoppinsisnosaint @MynameisJune thanks for sharing your views on it.

See this is the thing, I don’t want to make anyone else who struggles with their weight feel bad or like I have more willpower than them when that’s not true.

I think if someone who is obese asked me how I’m doing it, I probably would be honest and tell them about it because it has been so helpful for me and I think they would understand about “food noise” etc.

But so far anyone who has asked me are people who wouldn’t qualify for it anyway, I.e. they’ve never been obese, just need to lose a few pounds, are in the "just eat less and move more" brigade, wouldn’t understand the “food noise” struggle because they’ve never experienced that (people like my mum, granny, several close friends), so I rationalise what would be the point in telling them if it’s not something they would be able to legitimately obtain to help them lose a few pounds?
