I have done the same, stuck to 2.5 for second pen.

Slightly regretting it now as still on first pen, last couple of days on that but have struggled this week already and 4 more weeks to go.

i didn’t want to cut out carbs completely and was having a small amount for breakfast but have had to cut that out to see a loss on the scales this week.

The 5mg scares me though as I have a long shifts and can’t be sick

I also stuck with the 2.5mg pen for my second month, because I am losing weight steadily and figured I won't increase until or unless I need to. Did have a momentary regret after week 3 when it felt like I had appetite and cravings again. But I'm still losing approx 1kg per week so the 2.5 is working still.

I've also listened to a few podcasts and things and have convinced myself that it's better for me to stick to the lowest dose that is working, and build good habits around dealing with cravings etc, because once I come off it, I will have to do that anyway. My goal isn't complete appetite suppression and dealing with side effects, it's working with whatever dose allows me to feel good, eat well, exercise and lose weight, but isn't a total crutch that isn't sustainable without the MJ.

This is exactly how I feel too. After I take my golden dose this week, I think I am going to stick at 2.5mg for another month because it’s working for me and I have a gut feeling 5mg will be too right now. I wonder if you can just stick to 2.5mg for the foreseeable if it’s working for you??

I'm sure you can, I know people who have stuck with one dose for 3 or more months. I'm about to do week 6, for my 3rd pen I think I will order a 5mg and maybe do 3mg doses for a few weeks, then a few 3.75mg if that's going well. I don't really want to increase more than that for now if I don't have to.

Thanks all - super interesting to hear your thoughts! On balance I wish I'd gone for the 5mg but I'm choosing to take this as an opportunity to think more mindfully about what I'm eating with less suppression - still aiming to hit my protein target but adding more leafy green veg to fill me up (which was less of a priority for the first few weeks!) Scale's still stuck here but hopefully it'll start moving again soon and even if it doesn't I'm trying to remind myself that I know I'm making better choices even if the numbers aren't shifting as I'd hoped. In it for the long haul!

So interesting to read about increasing doses here. I’ve gone back and forth. Currently on 5 mg and need to order next pen this weekend.

I asked my provider (let them earn their money, I reckon!), and they gave a list of things to consider, which I think has convinced me to stay on 5mg for at least one more pen.

In case it’s of interest, this is what they sent:

The decision to increase the dose or maintain the current dose of Mounjaro depends on how your body is responding to the medication in terms of weight reduction and tolerability.
I have listed some key considerations to consider when deciding your next dose.

When to Increase the Dose for Weight Loss:

  1. Limited Weight Loss Progress:
  2. If you have not experienced significant weight loss (usually defined as less than 5% of your baseline weight after a few weeks or months) on your current dose, it may be time to consider increasing the dose.
  3. Weight loss can vary among individuals, but your healthcare provider might recommend an increase if there is minimal progress after 4-8 weeks at the same dose.
  4. Tolerance of Current Dose:
  5. If you have been on the current dose for at least 4 weeks and are not experiencing significant side effects (like nausea, vomiting, or gastrointestinal discomfort), you may wish to consider increasing to the next dose.
  6. Dose titration typically occurs in increments after at least 4 weeks on each dose.
  7. Plateau in Weight Loss:
  8. If you initially experienced weight loss but have reached a plateau (no further weight loss for several weeks), you may wish to consider increasing the dose to overcome this plateau.
When to Stay on the Same Dose for Weight Loss:
  1. Ongoing Weight Loss:
  2. If you are continuing to lose weight steadily (e.g., 1-2 pounds per week) on your current dose, there may be no need to increase the dose. Sustained, gradual weight loss is often more sustainable and healthier.
  3. Experiencing Side Effects:
  4. If you experience side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, or other gastrointestinal symptoms, it may be wise to stay on the current dose until your body adjusts. Sometimes, the side effects diminish over time, making it easier to consider an increase later.
  5. Severe or persistent side effects may require staying on a lower dose for a longer period or even reducing the dose for one to two weeks.
  6. Recent Dose Increase:
  7. If you recently increased the dose (within the last 4 weeks), it’s recommended to stay on that dose for a bit longer to assess tolerance and effectiveness. Your body may need time to adjust to the new dose before considering another increase.
  8. Satisfactory Weight Loss:
  9. If you have achieved your desired weight loss or are close to your goal, maintaining the current dose might be advisable to sustain the results rather than pushing for further weight reduction, which could increase the risk of side effects.

Thanks! Not listened to that one yet.

I’d recommend two eps from Diary of a CEO:

The one with the insulin and glucose doctor (it’s over 2 hours long and they talk about GLP1 drugs towards the end, but the rest of the episode is also interesting from a metabolic point of view).

And the one titled ‘The Ozempic Expert’.

Today as I was walking home I got really tired. I felt weak and it was an effort to get home. Sat on the sofa for a bit. Had some water. Put some pineapple, Greek yoghurt and honey in the blender and made a smoothie. Felt much better after drinking it. This apart from sulphur burps early on have been my only side effects. Anyone else experience something similar? This is week 6 for me. Have lost 8kilos so far.

partyfoodpickingpiggy · 25/03/2025 18:00

Week 8 for me and I have lost 20.3 lbs

I have been having fun trying on pre covid summer clothes and I can’t wait for the sun to come out so I can finally wear them! It’s been a while!

I have just done my 9th jab of 2.5. Have stayed the same as it seems to be working well.

Just thought it’s worth mentioning- I have stuck with med express as I have been lucky to have a few people use my codes, I was just looking on monj for prices for my next pen. Med express price match but only for specific retailers- I found that The Online Pharmacy sell at £129.99 so I fired off a quick email to ME asking if they would price match for my next pen and they replied straight away and credited my account £15.99
Not much but every little helps and saves a faff of taking new photographs.

HangryGreenGoose · 25/03/2025 18:51

@partyfoodpickingpiggy do you know if Med Express price match with pharmacy online.

Snap. I am really pushing it on the 2.5mg for as long as I can. As long I am losing 0.5lbs or more I am going to stay on it if possible. I've just had my 5th dose of 2.5mg. I was wobbling as my 3rd week on 2.5mg was much harder, with more hunger and had to make a decision to order in time, so ordered a 5mg. However my 4th week on 2.5mg I lost 3.3lbs! So I decided 2.5mg is working and learning to cope with hunger is a GOOD thing for me as pre-MJ hunger terrified me. I realised in therapy last year that one of my issues is a phobic-level fear of hunger, so I'd eat preventatively, never allowing myself to feel the panic of being hungry. Hence the obesity. Took my first 2.5mg (30 clicks) from the 5mg pen and this week has been brilliant so far. Still no negative side effects, no hunger either but just eating well. I actually feel more suppression than I have been for the past 2 weeks which is a little weird - I wondered if I've somehow given myself a slightly higher dose. Regardless, I'm happy to stay on 2.5mg for the foreseeable. Getting a bit of hair loss (not clumps but more scalp showing which is hard). This is a common side effect of losing quickly - so slow and steady. Slow and steady!

Nicecuppatea2025 · 25/03/2025 19:59

Weigh-in day for me.

W9D1
SW 103.9kg …the same as a black bear
CW 90.1kg .. have lost an entire badger, and now weigh the same as a seal 🦭

So flipping close to getting out of the NHS red zone. Just need to lose a skunk and I’ll be overweight not obese! 🎉

Could be low blood sugar? Had it been a while since you last ate?

Hello Thread 4!
I’ve come to the end of my first pen (from pharmacy2u) and thought I would be clever and order my 2nd pen from Zava.

what a palaver.

they took 3 days to get back to me and say they needed ID.

then 3 days to get back to me to ask about my hip / knee - which was odd as I don’t believe I said I had a problem wit those in my questionnaire.
then another 3 days to say I need different f photos taken of my body as they cannot judge if my photo resembles what I’m claiming on my questionnaire

certainly questioning my life choices right now!!!

anyone else have this problem?! I’ve waited this long am hanging on!!!

I was 79kgs when I started in Feb (obese). Am now at 75 - 5% weight loss! And I am no longer obese but have another 12-15kgs to reach a sensible weight.

do I try a different pharmacy? Or hang on for Zava?!

Nicecuppatea2025 · 25/03/2025 21:39

No idea @strongermummy. Shopping around is not my strong suit - just cannot be arsed with the faff - so I’ve stuck with my first provider even though I know it’s a more expensive way of doing it.

Hopefully someone will be along soon who can be more helpful!

God, me either. The very thought of it makes me tired. And the fact that it might cause delays or fuck ups. Just - no.

I read on a thread about maintaining, or being on MJ for ages I think it was, that the poster had more or less forgotten about it, other than doing the once weekly injection. That life was normal, with all its good habits simply in place, and no additional burdens. That is my nirvana! Hence no shopping around, no calorie counting, or messing around with prescribed doses. I just can’t afford the head space!

End of first month weigh in: I’ve lost about 7kg (100kg start weight: 92kg now, but I had all my clothes on at the pharmacy the first time). 22kg still to go.

So pleased!

BMI now 30.7. I want it to be under 30 next month.

Thank you. Reading this group is keeping me going.

I have had this. I couldn't work out what was going on but I've realised it is just what real hunger feels like at the moment. I have to be very strict about when I eat because I skip the hangry, stomach rumbling and go straight to, I'm going to pass out.
I also find that where I would normally have a sweet or chocolate when I felt hungry before, I need something more healthy. A smoothie would probably be ideal.

FunnyCrabDance · 26/03/2025 08:01

Finally a scale victory! First stone finally gone 🎉
Also according to patchy data on mfp I'm the lightest Ive been in my 40's!
Liking 5mg, so far so good with no really bad side effects and still able to eat well , this stuff is truly amazing.
Planning on sticking with this dose for as long as it keeps the pesky cake voice at bay.
Well done everyone, I agree with the previous poster, this thread is a great way of keeping going on the tough days and celebrating small and big victories on the good days xx
