Week 39 weigh in for me today.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 90.5kg (14st 3 lbs), was 91.6kg (14st 5lbs) last week
GW: 90kg (14st 2 lbs) fourth interim goal.

Current pen: 7.5mg, 29 weeks on this dosage.

Pleasantly surprised by a 1.1kg loss this week, and even saw "89" flicker on the scales before it settled to the 90.5kg mark. It also puts me into Onederland as I am now 199.5 pounds. My goal for the Easter holidays is to keep focused and make sure I keep up with a decent amount of walking, whilst turning down any Easter "treats". Currently not interested in the slightest, when usually I'd have eaten many hot cross buns by this point!

Congratulations @SilenceInside on reaching 'onderland!👏

Hope you take a moment out to reflect how much you have achieved and celebrate the milestone!

I wouldn't say I get suppression as such, just a total indifference to wanting to eat. Take it or leave it kind of thing.

Yes - on a good day (like today - suppression finally calming down!), I can easily forget to eat. This morning at about 11.30am I found a plate in my kitchen that I knew I hadn't used - I'd put 1/2 bagel in the toaster and completely forgotten to toast and eat it - just didn't occur to me that I hadn't eaten anything.

On a bad day - all of this week until today - I just feel ill if I even think about eating - hence why I'm going to reduce again next week! I love forgetting about food, but can do without the constant greenness...!

SilenceInside · 04/04/2025 16:23

Ah, thanks @WeAllHaveWings . I sort of log it in the positive bank rather than celebrate if that makes sense? I feel like I will mark a celebration for whenever I move out of the obese category, and then hopefully also moving out of the overweight category, then my final goal weight. I may reassess the goal weight when I get nearer to it, as it's at the top end of healthy. But I have only been under 10 stone for a short period as an adult when I was around 19 or 20, so it may not be realistic or achievable these days.

@MyGodMyThighs well done on taking the plunge, you will be fine and it will work!

alwaysscared · 04/04/2025 18:47

Seen the doctor today, they are happy for me to buy the extra dose so have just ordered my first 2.5mg pen!! I will still have my 5mg pen from the docs. Hopefully it will be approved! I think I will go up to 6mg to start with, then increase it if I’m tolerating it ok. Please all keep your fingers crossed that it gets approved!

Thank you ☺️ I’m feeling optimistic!

Arglefraster · 04/04/2025 22:14

Yay @alwaysscaredthat's really positive news, I hope the increased dose works well for you.

Hi @MyGodMyThighsI hope your side effect remedies remain in the cupboard!
I think there are other newcomers also, apologies for not remembering names but hello to you too 👋

MooBaggage · 05/04/2025 08:47

Morning all!

I slept well last night without headaches for the first time in ages and have woken up this morning feeling not nauseous - hurrah! 😁

Am actually looking forward to going back down to 5mg on Monday - I must just be really sensitive to MJ and not need to increase at the moment.

So this weekend I'll hopefully be enjoying meals and having all the sleep in the world 😍

NewbieMJ · 05/04/2025 12:56

Congratulations @SilenceInside that's brilliant!

@QueenOfHiraeth I don't get suppression either. I am a slow loser and don't have any side effects. Not sure if there is a correlation.

MJ keeps me in check and gives me the edge, but I can and do eat full dinners, etc.

This thread would make interesting research. Be a worthwhile study of a sample of random women that have a lot to lose.

WeAllHaveWings · 05/04/2025 13:15

NSV....

My Mum's comment when seeing me yesterday: she could really tell I've lost weight - from behind - because my boobs are still huge at the front... 🙄😁

This is as close to a compliment as I've ever had from my Mum..! It must mean I actually do look different though, or she wouldn't have said anything at all 😬

If your diabetes Dr is happy for you to increase privately, you will be able to up to 4 x 6.25mg out of your 5mg pen.

75 clicks using two injections of the pen (perhaps 35 + 40 clicks, new needle each time) for first 3 weeks, then 4th week you will need to use a syringe as pen will lock

Or 0.75ml each week using a syringe, being careful to use human grade syringes (not amazon) and of hygiene when using

I think I would prefer to use syringes each week as it is only one injection each time (and I still hate jagging myself!)

It will save you some money and you can keep the 2.5mg until/if you need to increase beyond 6.25mg.

@WeAllHaveWingsooooh! That sounds good!

alwaysscared · 05/04/2025 13:38

@WeAllHaveWings I want to go up to 6 first, do you know how many clicks that would be??

@WeAllHaveWings I want to go up to 6 first, do you know how many clicks that would be??

I attached a chart with the columns for 5mg highlighted in yellow - it would be 72 clicks or 0.72ml for 6mg.

The 0.25mg isn't much and the difference is likely to be negligible.

alwaysscared · 05/04/2025 13:52

@WeAllHaveWings ah sorry, I didn’t see that chart! Any recommendations for needles?

Ah mums 💗 Don't know if they realise how much their words - compliments or criticism - mean! Mine was my biggest critic. If she was still here I don't think I would have told her about using the injections as she was in her 80s and wouldn't have really understood how they worked so it would just have worried her. But, she would have started EVERY visit with a loud "Have you lost weight?" while looking me up and down from various angles regardless of who else was in earshot! 😳

My NSV this week was while putting the weekly grocery delivery away with dh. When the freezer door is open it half blocks the kitchen entrance, so I needed to wait until it was closed before I could get in or out of the kitchen. Yesterday I just walked easily through without thinking while dh was putting things away, it wasn't until I did it that I realised and was pretty chuffed - never told dh though he wouldn't get it, so I'll tell you guys instead! 🤣

alwaysscared · 05/04/2025 13:52

@WeAllHaveWings ah sorry, I didn’t see that chart! Any recommendations for needles?

These ones are the right size and from a medical supplier if you are ok with an 8mm needle and using the same one to extract and inject. Most people are absolutely fine with the fixed needle syringe above. (I wimped out with the 8mm needle)

FMS Micro Syringe 32G 8mm 1ml

If you want shorter needles you can use separates from same supplier. I've linked the separate syringe and 6mm needle I use below. They have 4mm too if you prefer. If you want to use a different needle for extraction and injection (small possibility of needle being slightly blunted) you can buy extra needles and switch them in between.

Luer Lock syringe
31g Light Blue 6mm

@WeAllHaveWings thank you!

QueenOfHiraeth · 05/04/2025 14:50

@alwaysscared I got these syringes
They are from a registered pharmacy and was a widely used brand in the days when I worked in that field if that helps. It's annoying that delivery is more than the cost of the item but I have a couple of friends locally who needed them too so I ordered for all of us

That's interesting. I'm not sure what the definition is but I'd consider myself a slow loser too. I'm losing half a kg a week despite sticking to an average of 1400 cals (& keeping protein & fibre high) when nutracheck says 1900 should have me losing 0.9kg a week 🤷‍♀️

I'm happy just now but very concerned about keeping my protein high enough if I'm going to have to reduce from 1400 as I lose weight (I have more than 50kg to go).

My plan just now is to add more lifting back in & per Stacy Sims eat some breakfast - which I hate!

ETA just checked & nutracheck says I'm averaging 1300 per day over the last 4 weeks (protein 100g & fibre 25g)

Arglefraster · 05/04/2025 20:13

I meant to say my only negative side effects have been fatigue & mild headache on the days after injection - which has mostly passed now .

NewbieMJ · 05/04/2025 20:41

@Arglefraster - I do wonder if those of us who aren't "super responders" have less side effects? It is interesting isn't it?

I am steadily losing 7 pounds a month. 53 pounds down so far. I am happy with that and have just adapted to my healthy eating way of life. I could do a lot more exercise, and will (but I do feel so much fitter already).

I don't count calories (which I know is unusual, but some others on here have said that too). I follow a keto way of eating; high fat, moderate protein and very low carb. It suits me and makes me feel great (mentally/emotionally) and the steady loss is a huge motivator.

I think the key is to keep chipping away. Slow and steady seems to be the way for some of us😊

QueenOfHiraeth · 05/04/2025 21:49

@NewbieMJ @Arglefraster I am also losing slowly now. I've lost 4st 7lb since last May which I am thrilled with as I know that would have been unachievable before this but it has taken me 3 months to lose the last stone of that. I have said on here previously though that, being older and newly retired I am less active than when younger and very conscious that life is for living so I have done it while still eating out and drinking gin which might be a reason!
I'm also eating around 1400cals/day and aiming for 100g protein and 25g fibre although I'm not brilliant, especially on the fibre and, like both of you, have minimal side effects.
Technically I have about another 15kg to reach healthy weight but I suspect I won't want to go that far as I will shrivel completely!
