@akaFrosty I also only lost 1lb in the second week after a great first week. I felt a bit downhearted about it at the time, I think largely because this whole process didn’t feel real and achievable yet, so it felt like every other weight loss attempt where I do great for a week or two then it slows down… then it stops… then it goes back on. Now I’m 10 weeks in and small losses or even gains (had my first one and gained a pound this week) don’t bother me so much because I KNOW it’s working and I KNOW my weight is going down. I lost nothing in week 7 and then 7lbs over the next two weeks. It all comes off in the end.

Thank you, that's good to know. I'm trying really hard to get out of the 'diet' mindset. That's what got me here in the first place after all. Thanks again.

In case it’s helpful for anyone, I grabbed this for breakfast this morning from ASDA as I wasn’t feeling very hungry, it’s very nice, £1.15 so not too expensive either.

Mine has arrived today, I’m a complete novice to this. Should I start in the morning?

SilenceInside · 03/04/2025 20:09

@Twodogsisbetterthanone it really doesn't matter much. You won't notice anything immediately, and it can then take around 8 to 72 hours for the medication to peak in your system. I chose a day and time that I would usually be uninterrupted on and so able to have a few minutes to myself to inject. In my case that is a Friday morning as I prefer to get the effects of the medication over the weekend which is when I tend to find it hard to resist over eating and snacking. The effects of the medication tend to tail off on the last day or two of the week.

Good luck. I'm a novice too, but have taken 3 jabs so far.
I did the first two in the morning as the house was empty. I did my 3rd jab yesterday at bedtime. I haven't noticed any difference taking it at a different time of day. It doesn't hurt, but I get a bit nervous still so I like some peace and quiet.

MooBaggage · 03/04/2025 20:23

Eugh. I am struggling this week with over suppression/nausea, which means I'm really struggling to eat. I'm drinking water, coffee, fruit smoothies and protein drinks, but the thought of actual food is too much - am managing one small meal a day, reluctantly!

I reduced from 6.5mg last week to 6mg this week, but it still feels too much.

But 5mg two weeks ago didn't feel enough!

Am wondering whether to go back to 5mg next week and try again on that dose? Really don't want to feel this rubbish and not eat... 🙄

Any suggestions?

InfoSecInTheCity · 03/04/2025 20:39

Do mine Thursday evening, because I picked it up from the chemist on a Thursday afternoon. My vote is to just do it before you have time to overthink it.

SilenceInside · 03/04/2025 20:42

@MooBaggage I think trying 5mg again is a sensible idea and see how you go. Because you've been on 6.5 and 6, you'll be at a higher starting point than when you took the 5mg before, so it may be more suppression as a result.

Darlinghag · 03/04/2025 20:46

I prefer to do my jab a couple of hours before bed, to minimise risk of having side effects. Works for me. I also would avoid eating a really fatty meal before hand, in case the digestive side effects happen immediately.

Thanks - I wish I'd stayed on 5mg now..! Will go back to 5mg on Monday and see how next week goes. Just hoping the suppression calms the fuck down for the weekend..!

Twodogsisbetterthanone · 03/04/2025 22:02

Thanks everyone! I went for it and did my first jab at 8pm. Now cannot sleep 🤣

roughtyping · 03/04/2025 22:05

@Twodogsisbetterthanonehope no side effects for you! I also do my jag on a Thursday night.

Just did my last dose from my 3rd 2.5 pen and ouch, it hurt tonight! I did it higher up my thigh, and front of thigh (had been doing further to side) than previously so maybe that’s why. Did the same on my other leg last week and had much better suppression. Still too scared to try my tummy!

CanIGoHomeNowPlease · 04/04/2025 09:46

I'm also a Thursday night jabber!

Weigh in this morning and still going in the right direction. 7.5mg is hitting much harder and I'm struggling to eat breakfast in the morning.

Week 39 weigh in for me today.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 90.5kg (14st 3 lbs), was 91.6kg (14st 5lbs) last week
GW: 90kg (14st 2 lbs) fourth interim goal.

Current pen: 7.5mg, 29 weeks on this dosage.

Pleasantly surprised by a 1.1kg loss this week, and even saw "89" flicker on the scales before it settled to the 90.5kg mark. It also puts me into Onederland as I am now 199.5 pounds. My goal for the Easter holidays is to keep focused and make sure I keep up with a decent amount of walking, whilst turning down any Easter "treats". Currently not interested in the slightest, when usually I'd have eaten many hot cross buns by this point!

I hope you feel better soon. I had three days last week where I couldn't eat. It felt like joy had left the building!

I know I'm out of step with rational thoughts here but I am envious of appetite suppression (within reason) as I have never had it. I can resist temptation better and have reduced food noise but can still always eat and still enjoy foods that I regard as a treat.
I went out for brunch yesterday with friends and thoroughly enjoyed french toast, buttermilk fried chicken and maple syrup? I am happy I no longer crave those foods constantly though

It's strange how we all react differently isn't it? Your brunch sounds amazing, but I know I couldn't have eaten it. On a good day, I can only tolerate fish, chicken, veg and very small amounts of good carbs. I'm only on week 3, so Im hoping I will be able to tolerate more foods the longer I'm on MJ. My BFF pasta is no more. It looks and tastes awful to me now, but I miss it.

InfoSecInTheCity · 04/04/2025 11:42

I’m like you @QueenOfHiraethi still feel hunger and have never had a problem eating as much as I want to eat, I just find it a lot easier to say no and to stop when I think I’ve had enough. It’s easier to push aside the hunger too, my belly might rumble but I just look at the clock and think ‘no, it’s lunch in an hour’ rather than spending an hour desperately imagining eating lunch.

This is me too. I still don't ever get "full" but it's like I'm no longer chasing the sensation. It feels very freeing.

QueenOfHiraeth · 04/04/2025 12:20

@InfoSecInTheCity @Arglefraster I'm relieved to hear that others are like this too. Everything I read on here and on social media is people posting about suppression and only being able to eat one carrot in four days, etc so that is really reassuring to me. Thank you

Puddingpiper · 04/04/2025 12:27

Jab and weigh day today I’ve lost 2 kilo so 28kg to go until I’m at the weight I think I will be happy at. I can’t believe how much weight fluctuates during the day at 8am I had lost 3.2kilos and 12pm I had lost 2kg (I’ve had nothing to eat this morning). I weighed at midday last week so taking the lower number. Only at the end of week 1 so a long way to go but a bikini in October is looking possible!

I weight first thing in the morning.

I have scales that connect to an app on my phone, so I stumble out of bed eyes half closed, go to the toilet, get naked, jump on the scale, then continue my morning wash and dress routine. Once I’m actually awake, I look at my phone and see what the weight was.

MyGodMyThighs · 04/04/2025 14:05

Hello, peeking in as a newbie... have been reading MJ threads for months now and have taken the leap and ordered, I'll be starting on 11 April so getting my head in gear now for the long road ahead.

Am apprehensive, excited, and I hope ready for the whole process. Thank you to whoever shared the spreadsheet template way upthread 😊, I've taken a copy. Between this, my apple watch and nutracheck I think that's tracking sorted.

I've ordered some protein shakes (willpowders) and some ginger tea, Culpermin, Rennies and loperamide to be prepared for any gastro symptoms. Over the last few months after blood tests at the GP I've been taking supplements for vit d, iron and a b complex. Also collagen and starflower oil for various peri issues.

I've tried and tried so hard to lose weight over the last few years but just keep getting heavier. My hope for MJ is a reduction in food noise primarily, and hoping for some suppression, although have planned myself a protein rich, relatively UPF free eating plan that I'm ramping myself into.

Exercise wise I've really struggled in the last couple of years due to the excess weight and also chronic fatigue caused by CPTSD. In January I started doing short beginners Youtube pilates each morning which I have mostly maintained aside from mornings where my fatigue is overwhelming. I'm adding walking to the routine gradually now too.

I dream of being a healthy weight again (it's been about ten years), and being able to run up hills again one day.

I'm 243 lbs at 5ft 5, so 93 to lose to get to a healthy weight. Think I'm as prepared as I can be, so here goes...

Sorry for the epic long post 😬

alltablenochairs · 04/04/2025 15:00

I wouldn't say I get suppression as such, just a total indifference to wanting to eat. Take it or leave it kind of thing.
