Oh wow, well done. I hit three stone off today and am starting to look ahead to the goals that felt 100 miles away when I started. When I hit 100 pounds there will be monumental celebrations.

SilenceInside · 14/03/2025 14:25

Congratulations on the 3 stone milestone @PinkArt I have to take it all in small steps, if I think too long about the big picture I get a bit overwhelmed. My next small step is to get to 200lbs or less as that feels significant to me. It's about 1.5kg away, so tantalisingly close.

TragicMuse · 14/03/2025 15:06

I am repeating to myself ‘it’s not linear!’ - my midweek check-weigh was good, 2 days later it’s up again! I’ve shifted the - ahem - blockage so am hoping for a good result tomorrow for WI and jab.

It’s not linear. It’s not linear.

its a marathon not a sprint.

repeat to fade!!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/03/2025 18:31

I saw a fab picture on the shemed Facebook group about that and saved it as its soemthing I've kept telling myself.

I've passed a stone and a half now! On my 10th jab and like a pp finally beginning to see that this might be possible even if it takes me a very long time. My main big goal is "not morbidly obese" but that's around 3 stone away so yes smaller interim goals are needed!!

I had really bad diahrea earlier this week so hoping after jabbing today I don't get it again. It's bizarrely normally 2 days later!

Sorry to hear it's not doing much for you. I have been far less interested in snacking and less hungry between meals but have always wanted food at meal times. I was eating so terribly before that it's been a huge change being in a calorie deficit so I have lost a lot over these 4 weeks but I was kind of expecting the 5mg suppression to kick in to help with the usual 'done 4 weeks of eating sensibly, now I'm going off the rails' urge which is what generally happens with WW or SW etc in the past. I've eaten my dinner and still hungry.. Hopefully our bodies just need a bit of time to adjust to 5mg and the suppression will kick in. Got my fingers crossed for you!

Thank you x

I’d been slowly losing in a deficit for a while but then had a big regain over Christmas which I’d hoped would have shifted fairly quickly… it hasn’t.

it’s all going in the right direction but perhaps the fact I’d lost a bit in the run up and already improved my diet quite a bit means it will be slower. I’m definitely snacking less and not thinking about it too much so something is happening just nothing major. Maybe I need to get higher up the doses but was hoping I’d be one of the lucky ones that can stay on 5mg for months!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/03/2025 19:22

@SignalCat they say to aim for 1-2lb a week loss so at 1.6lb.per week that would be good going! Especially on 2.5. I think of you've already adapted your diet it seems annecdotally you're less likely to get that initial water weight woosh that some people get.

At 1.6 a week that would be 6 stone in a year!!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/03/2025 19:23

(not saying it won't increase! Just I genuinely don't think it's a bad start)

Thank you x it’s just my head messing me up as often happens on a weight loss journey, if it doesn’t happen quick enough I lose hope and stop. But you’re right, 6st in a year would be amazing and consistent slow loss is better than it going on the opposite direction as it was before I started!

on another note, I’m glad to see you are doing so well, I started following posts when you were first thinking about going on this journey and you voicing your well thought out consideration of it helped me make the decision to take leap so thank you for that too!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 15/03/2025 00:00

Aww thanks - yes I am definitely an overthinker and really appreciated everyone's responses then. I am so so glad I'm on the programme now and really thinking Im changing some of my thoughts and relationship around food too. Such a different place to December!

BookishDogMum · 15/03/2025 08:48

Hi all,

I hope you don’t mind me joining. I have just started mounjaro not last night, but the night before. I have a lot to lose..
bmi is 52.3, I weight 22st 6 pounds.
I really thought I would instantly feel suppression as so many people said they have but not so far.. do you think it’s kinda like the heavier you are the longer it takes to feel the difference? I’m maybe being silly! I lost a stone before Christmas - then regained most of it at Christmas - so I’m trying this to see if it works for me. Fingers crossed!

SilenceInside · 15/03/2025 09:01

Hi @BookishDogMum welcome to the thread. I think that the response to Mounjaro is different for everyone, regardless of starting weight. The dosage isn’t weight based so how it affects you is down to individual differences. It can take between 8 and 72 hours for the medication to peak in your system, then it gradually falls, with some still in your system by the time you do the next injection. So the level builds in your system each week. It’s really normal not to get much effect to start with, the 2.5mg dose isn’t intended to produce meaningful weight loss for the majority.

Thank you! I did a bit of reading after I posted this and I agree. Will stick with it but was instantly worried it wouldn’t work when I heard other peoples stories. However comparison is the thief of joy! Isn’t that what they say?!

hoping it’s the change that makes all the difference! Thank you for the welcome! I hope it’s a great journey!

morbidcuriosity · 15/03/2025 09:54

@BookishDogMum hi. I started at nearly 19 stone and had instant suppression. A friend who is much shorter than me started at I think 12 stone something , it took her to half way through 5mg to feel slight suppression.. so it is all very different for everyone.. but stick with it, it's an amazing drug.. I'm over 5 stones down now , I love it.

BookishDogMum · 15/03/2025 09:57

@morbidcuriosity thank you for this! And well done! I’m sure your life has changed so positively!

TragicMuse · 15/03/2025 10:14

Hi @BookishDogMum!

I didn’t have instant suppression but I noticed that I didn’t really care when I was a bit hungry. It was a ‘oh, bit hungry. Ok.’ no urge to eat anything in sight.

There was cake in the office - no temptation at all.

So it was more like not being bothered rather than not being hungry at all.

morbidcuriosity · 15/03/2025 10:17

@BookishDogMumhonestly it's fab. Just going into a shop being able to see a nice t shirt and grab it not worrying if it will fit etc.. and not seeing something and not being my size there..
Although I've had to order new work uniform trousers 3 times now, but my work are fine with that.. all positive stuff..

TragicMuse · 15/03/2025 10:28

My 3rd week WI today.

Jan 2025: 122.46kg (19st 4.5lbs)
SW (1 March 2025) 119.52kg (18st 11.5lbs)

CW (15 March 2025) 116.75 (18st 5.5lbs)

Total loss 5.7kg or 12.6lbs

i have a few goals planned, and no definite GW.

BookishDogMum · 15/03/2025 10:42

@TragicMuse well done! That’s amazing! And that’s a great way to look at it, rather than suppression being not really bothered!

@morbidcuriosity i look forward to the day when I can do the same!

Hi,
like you I didn’t feel much suppression and still not got it at 5mg but I would say my craving for sweet stuff and bread has gone. Both were really big temptations for me. I’m losing slowly which I’m a bit sad about because, like you, I have a big journey ahead of me but, as I was reminded earlier on this thread, at my current weight loss per week I would still lose 60lb in a year and that would make a huge difference to my life.

TragicMuse · 15/03/2025 12:41

I have my first challenge today. Going out for afternoon tea this aft.

It’s not a massive one, looking at the menu. And I don’t usually have much in the evening after something like that. And I might bring the cake home for the teenager.

Let’s see how it goes!

I am using nutracheck for counting and they have an ‘easier day’ setting which reduces calories on other days for a more relaxed/higher calorie day. So I’ve accounted for it across the week. Fingers crossed, eh?!

Meanwhile I have NO idea what to wear! Or what I’m in the mood for. Wardrobe perusal incoming!!

BookishDogMum · 15/03/2025 12:42

@SignalCat its a marathon not a sprint for us I guess! But yes any weight lost is better than none and much better than weight gained! I keep reading threads of people losing so much weight. But everyone’s journey is unique and who knows where we’ll be in 6 months I guess! I’m trying to be optimistic! Thanks for your comment! I appreciate the support!

Springsunflower · 15/03/2025 15:11

Thankyou for the replies to me asking about the connection between side effects and what you eat ..looks like it is different for everyone

.my weight loss seems to be really slowing down now to about a pound a week, two if I'm very lucky .
But I've never managed to stick to a healthy diet this long before,so it's all good ,all going in the right direction.
I think I've got at least a year before I'm anywhere near a normal BMI ..
But again ,that's ok ,better slower of so it stays of ,
rather than fast off fast back on
as it always has been with me before

Springsunflower · 15/03/2025 15:15

As well as monjroro I'm using the NHS calories counting app .
Just trying to loose weight eating mindfully was really not cutting it
I need to count calories to keep myself accountable.
Is anyone else also doing this

Doggymummar · 15/03/2025 15:34

@Springsunflower I use Nutracheck as I have been dieting for years and it has all my recipes and meals in it already. Anything that keeps you mindful will do though.
