I used to love that list visualising what your weight equated to, someone please post it if you have it. I think last time I saw it I had lost a bale of hay! Seeing as I couldn't lift that if I tried that's impressive.

Oh wow. So a 5 gallon water bottle is one of those water cooler ones that I can barely lift. And that's what I've lost so far 🤯

SilenceInside · 12/03/2025 10:56

I've lost just over two small bales of hay. Which is crazy, as there's no way I could go around my daily life carrying two bales of hay all the time....but that's what I was doing in July last year! I don't know how I was so mobile, looking back.

I also couldn't pick up a full water cooler container either!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 12/03/2025 11:31

I’ve lost an elephants heart and a human brain! 🤣

I bought a weighted blanket last week, it was delivered yesterday. It was hard work carrying it upstairs. It’s 15kg, I’ve lost 19kg, how on earth did I get myself up the stairs before…🤷‍♀️

TragicMuse · 12/03/2025 12:32

I love that list! I've lost a cat!!

justteanbiscuits · 12/03/2025 15:24

Catching up as life been very hectic!

3.3lb lost this week. I think last week might have been a bad weigh in as it balances across the 2 weeks at around 2lb each week. I'm hoping for 2lb next week as this will take me to 25% of my body weight lost! And 2.1lb off having lost 5 stone. I couldn't imagine this would happen 8 months ago.

I'm nearly half way there!!!

I need a wardrobe clear out. But there are a few things I will be very sad to see go. Two particular dresses I rarely have the opportunity to wear, but that I love! Will have to keep an eye on Vinted for replacements :)

Weigh in and jab day.

SW 137KG BMI 53.5
CW 119.5KG BMI 46.7
GW 60KG BMI 23.4

1KG down in the week. Total loss 38 pounds or 2 stone 10 pounds in old money.

I have some psyllium husk arriving today. I'm not constipated but I do feel like I am carrying a week's worth of food inside me. Need to speed things up!

Lds1 · 13/03/2025 07:42

Only lost 600g this week which is disappointing, from a daily weigh in yesterday I was expecting more.

Overall lost 41.8kg (6 stone, 8 lb and 2.45 oz) or according to the list above a new born calf and a rack of baby ribs.

41kg to go, BMI has gone from 50.8 to 35.9

TragicMuse · 13/03/2025 08:24

Well done you two!

I also feel like I'm retaining food despite being well hydrated and not exactly constipated. I cannot bear lactulose, it makes me heave. I shall investigate other options!

Movicol has been a game changer for me and I have literally tried everything! Started off with 2 sachets a day for about 4 days, now I’m having one sachet a day. Doesn’t taste too good but I can down it mixed in120 mls water at record speed

I take senna each night .. otherwise.....
I don't like having to .but needs must .
I've managed a two weeks of swimming nearly every day ..
I couldn't get up to go when it was dark in a morning.
But I'm definitely hungier,.I do a good half an hour none stop up and down the pool ..
But I hadn't realised it would make me ravenous

Springsunflower · 13/03/2025 13:00

Can I ask ,do you think that what you eat effects side effects.
So if you eat food not good for us ,fatty foods ,it gives worse side effects..??
I've cut everything like that out ,just curious if that's why I'm not getting stomach upsets or whatnot ..

Doggymummar · 13/03/2025 13:24

Yes what you eat affects you. I can't drink alcohol or I'll vomit. I have a very safe diet at the minute , mostly protein shakes and English muffins. Bread based stuff seems ok. Last night I had pizza but it was dry three days old pizza I couldn't eat it if it was hot and fresh. The cheese would cripple me. Tonight it's a chippy tea, last week that was fine, tonight it might be too much. Every day is a learning day.

TragicMuse · 13/03/2025 13:30

I'm exploring protein smoothies at the moment. I added tomatoes to mine this morning!! It was actually really good. I think with avocado instead of banana I would like it even more. The whole sweet thing can be hard for me in the morning.

I also add protein powder and egg whites, that's really working.

I think that it can, but also that sometimes the side effects just happen without really being connected to what you've eaten. I also think it depends on your individual digestive system, what state your gut bacteria is in etc.

I don't eat much refined carbs at the moment, which suits me. Generally low carb, high protein with lots of veg. Not much fruit. Being aware of the slow digestion and potential for unwanted fermentation to happen which might cause digestive upset.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 13/03/2025 23:03

I think it depends on the individual person, I can eat pretty much anything without effect. Can’t really comment on alcohol as I don’t really drink, I’ve had one large pink gin and lemonade since starting MJ and had no problems. I’ve also had Chinese, fish and chips albeit small portions and no stomach issues at all. I have the constitution of an ox 😂
My only side effect is constipation (now sorted with Movicol) but I was always prone to that before MJ.

Bibulous · 14/03/2025 07:06

I've not had any noticeable side effects from food but I've been avoiding fatty foods because they really don't appeal. Pre MJ I used to love pizza but now just the thought of it with all the oil swimming on top turns my stomach. It's very odd.

Lobsterteapot · 14/03/2025 07:07

Welcome @Springsunflower I’m eating high protein high fibre and I try to eat 30 plants a week. Anything too fatty gives me the squits.

I am trying to re-educate my body. I listen to a podcast and it said having bariatric surgery or going on a GLP1 gives you time to put good habits in place for life so that’s what I’m doing. It’s just so much easier without the food noise.

3 pounds off today which takes me two stone one which is the same as an average two-year-old and four guinea pigs! Imagine carrying that lot at once!! 😂

Lobsterteapot · 14/03/2025 07:13

My mums weight was all over the place when I was a child - we always joke that in the family photos she’s fat and thin and fat and thin again depending on what year it was and what starvation diet was in.
Looking back she wasn’t very well educated about nutrition really and my grandma was always on a diet too And always valued looking thin and pretty 🙈

DSis an average weight for his age. He does absolutely loads of sports which we encourage and I cook more or less everything from scratch with fruit and veg at every meal. I’m determined that he will have a good relationship with food and exercise.

Hi, I've been taking MJ for 4 weeks and had my first 5mg dose yesterday evening. This morning I've had what has become my usual breakfast (0%fat Fage yogurt, bananas, walnuts, drop of maple syrup) and I'm currently really hungry! I feel hungrier today than I felt on 2.5mg although even on 2.5mg suppression was never strong enough that I wanted to miss meals etc, it def helped cut down on snacking though.
Has anyone else had this? I was expecting 5mg to give more suppression not less! Fully aware it's only day 1 of 5mg but it sounds like for most people suppression is highest just after jabbing.

I feel your pain. This week was my first on 5mg and I have really struggled to control my appetite. I had very little suppression at 2.5 and even less at 5. I’m also trying really hard and have only lost 8lbs in the 5 weeks. I’m starting to wonder if Mounjaro will work for me or whether I am throwing my money down the drain. I will have to re-evaluate at the end of this 4 weeks but I’m a bit frustrated

Sorry to hear it's not doing much for you. I have been far less interested in snacking and less hungry between meals but have always wanted food at meal times. I was eating so terribly before that it's been a huge change being in a calorie deficit so I have lost a lot over these 4 weeks but I was kind of expecting the 5mg suppression to kick in to help with the usual 'done 4 weeks of eating sensibly, now I'm going off the rails' urge which is what generally happens with WW or SW etc in the past. I've eaten my dinner and still hungry.. Hopefully our bodies just need a bit of time to adjust to 5mg and the suppression will kick in. Got my fingers crossed for you!
