A NSV this morning. I have a pair of lovely Toast size 18 trousers that are non-stretch and I haven't been able to wear them for the longest time. I may have mentioned them before! A few weeks ago I could just about do them up, but not comfortable to wear at all. Well, today I tried them on again and they do up easily and comfortably! Really pleased with that. I had a look on the Toast website, but so many of their trousers are barrel legged now that I couldn't find anything similar to the ones that I have. I think barrel leg trousers are an April Fool's joke that has got out of hand, and I cannot believe that women seriously wear them. Apologies to anyone who likes that style.

Thank you to everyone who responded when I asked about people mentioning / not mentioning weight loss.

TragicMuse · 20/04/2025 13:55

I’ve lost 1.5 stone @Motnight and no one has mentioned it! I think it’s starting to be a bit noticeable and my husband and child have both said they can tell but no one at work or anywhere else has said a thing. I think there’s a general pattern of not talking about bodies so I’m not that bothered but at some point it will be totally obvious so I am interested to see what happens then!

I’m on my easier day for calories so Easter lamb will be enjoyed!

Loveanewusername · 20/04/2025 19:44

I’m massively struggling since Monday this week . Hunger / over eating/ more weight gain then expected.

we have gone away a couple of times, but I’m so downhearted about the whole thing

and it worries me going forward, like it’s just another slimming diet that I’ll loose a bit on then put double back on 😭

the good news is today I’m at 1800 calories- os I have taken myself to my bed with a cup of tea. I’m determined to have a goood day today.

I think I need to go up to the next dosage.

the other news is husband has continued loosing this week and is doing really well. Grumble grumble

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 20/04/2025 19:59

@Loveanewusername

Definitely go up a dose. That's how it's supposed to be done.

And don't worry about occasionally having days when you eat too much. I still do, sometimes, after several months. It isn't every day.

I disagree. That’s how the research was done initially but now the advice f several pharmacies is only go up if you need to and try to stay on the lowest dose that works for you. The research was for a limited time and I think it makes sense, especially if you have a lot of weight to lose, to stay as low as you can, to give you somewhere to go. However as @Loveanewusername is saying she’s hungry and struggling, it sounds like an increase in dose might help.

Kay2000 · 20/04/2025 22:53

I’ve been struggling this week with what may be side effects after my 3rd 7.5 dose. I’ve gone from constipation to diarrhoea, quite severe with accompanying stomach cramps and bad insomnia. I can’t decide what to do, whether to go back down to 5mg and see if it helps or do the 7.5 and hope I improve. I’ve felt rough today so I’m delaying my injection until tomorrow. Any advice or similar experiences welcome.

Have you taken loperamide? I always find it helps.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 20/04/2025 22:58

@Motnight I’ve lost just over 4 stone, it was noticeable around three stone, but no-one (outside of my immediate family) have said anything until I’ve mentioned it first. I went into the office recently and saw people I haven’t seen since before Christmas, I got chatting with one guy who I’ve known for about 15 years and we were talking about park runs, I mentioned that I was thinking of starting now I’ve lost quite a bit of weight and he said ‘I noticed as soon as I saw you, it’s amazing, but didn’t like to say anything as it’s not really the ‘done’ thing’. I laughed and said I’m proud of how well I’m doing. I honestly think that people don’t like to comment but I’m loud and proud about it!

Yes I have today, which has calmed things. I’m a IBS sufferer usually so the initial slowing down of my bowel was welcome! But that’s stopped over the past week.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 20/04/2025 23:12

@SilenceInside wow, in the 13’s! 50kgs is a lot, it’s an epic amount

@TheZingyFish it most certainly is a normal feeling, I’m scared of certain foods, mainly around having a very small amount of something and then not being able to stop until I’ve eaten it all, but it is really easy to stop and I still have to remind myself of that, I was also scared of feeling overly full as I associated that feeling with overeating but am gradually learning that is not the case. I think it’s going to take a while to unlearn some unhealthy habits and feelings and thinking of some food as bad.
I’ve got used to making smaller portions to avoid the food waste, it took me a while to figure out how to cook sensible portions for two people rather than looking like I’m cooking for the whole street. I freeze so many leftovers now.

I've found that I have always had to juggle either taking senna or loperamide.
🤣

madroid · 20/04/2025 23:14

@Loveanewusername I would feel your way and not go up a dose unless you need to/at your own pace.

Don't forget you are not supposed to not want to eat/feel hungry. Mj is supposed to stop you overeating because you very quickly feel full and realise that if you do overeat you WILL PAY 😁

Kay2000 · 20/04/2025 23:28

madroid · 20/04/2025 23:12

@Kay2000 would it be worth rowing back the dose a bit? I'm only 7 weeks in and went up from 2.5 to 5 then felt awful so I'm on 3.75 now which seems ok. You could check the dose chart and adjust?
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5118240-are-there-click-counting-charts-for-mounjaro

That’s what I’m thinking of doing. I did 3.75 too, as I was super cautious. I can easily go back to 5 this week and maybe the middle dose next week.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 20/04/2025 23:29

welcome @Stoufer, of course you’ll have the stamina, it’s life changing and motivating. It’s a bit daunting at first and you’ll find yourself wishing the weeks away. I also moved up most of the doses every four weeks, I did try to do 2 months of either 5 or 7.5 (can’t remember now) but I wasn’t getting quite the same effect which made me nervous so ended up doing extra clicks from the pen. Saying that though I’m on my third 12.5mg pen which is really working well for me so I will probably do another month then reassess.

@Kay2000 yay to the 19’s, amazing for you 😊

@SilenceInside i’ve just seen your barrel leg trousers comment 😂 all I think of are the old western films my grandad used to watch with the cowboys getting off their horses and looking like they have rickets!

@Loveanewusername im sorry that you are struggling, that’s miserable for you. Definitely go up a dose, there’s a lot of talk about trying to stay on lower doses, for some people that works but for others it definitely doesn’t. You have to find the dose that works for you, even if that is working your way up to 15mg by going up every 4/5 weeks. It shouldn’t be a struggle 😊 I’ve found my sweet spot at 12.5mg. In the surmount trials people were still regularly losing weight after 72 weeks on 15mg

Man the tiredness is kicking my arse this week. I only got up at 9am and I’m already knackered and want to go back to bed.

I’ve not had as much suppression this week but I did move my dose time to the evening so maybe it happened while I was asleep and I missed it!

Anyway, I’m sticking with 5mg for another pen. I’ve not noticed any change in the nausea so I don’t think I’ve got much advantage from jabbing later. I’ll take it back to the morning…

I found a set of scales at my mum’s, but either they’re half a stone out or mine are! So I’ve not really weighed. I had some Easter joy (aka chocolate) yesterday so I’m very happy not to be weighing daily right now! And I should try to break the habit, if I can!

On to the next.

eibbed999 · 21/04/2025 12:48

@TragicMuse - hope you get more energy soon! The weighing in daily thing is interesting. I've always done it, seeing it as a motivator/reminder/whatever, and I did it the first week of Mounjaro too. I stopped after that though and now only do it weekly. It still doesn't feel right, but I think it's important for me personally to learn that whatever I USED to do, whatever I've done in the past, really hasn't worked - so I'm trying really hard to develop different habits. Hoping this time will be the last!

SeaStoat · 21/04/2025 13:56

Here to celebrate that I am today I am 20 stone.

I've shed nearly 30lbs in in 90 days - so averaging 2.3lbs a week. It's not been a smooth progression, with two weeks when I went up (5lbs total) with a whoosh the following week down 6,8lbs (so 1.8lbs net down in 3 weeks). It was maybe due to fluid retention as my food intake has been consistent. I don't measure calories but do prioritise protein and avoid carbs. I'm still on 5mg.

I'm feeling the difference and hoping I'll be into the teens tomorrow, my "official" weigh in day. I'm also noticing my size 24 high rise Kim jeans are looser at the waist. I reckon I am a stone away from going down into the size 22s. I'm hoping I'll be the 22s by the end of June, 20s by September and 18-16 by Xmas.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 21/04/2025 14:00

Oh well done @SeaStoat that's just amazing!

TheZingyFish · 21/04/2025 14:01

Week 2 weigh in.
Down 5lb this week, total lost 12lbs.

Feeling pleased and positive. I don’t expect to keep losing these big chunks every week so realise this is the start of diet bonus, but will take it as a win to keep me motivated.

I am feeling the suppressing effect but not necessarily in an obvious way, I’m starting to trust my body to tell me what and when it wants to eat, and seem to be falling into one healthy but normal meal and then a couple of very light meals/snacks, such as a ham salad bagel, a couple of weetabix, a protein yoghurt or some scrambled eggs. At the moment it all feels achievable.

I’m due to take my third dose later, I take them about 6pm, and am now wondering about what to order for my next pen. Everything is working great at the moment on 2.5mg but worry in case I order another 2.5mg and it starts to wear off next week and I can’t order another 5mg for another month and I end up struggling for 5 or 6 weeks. If I started struggling do you think my provider would send me a 5mg pen a little earlier so could up my dosage before the end of the second 2.5mg?

eibbed999 · 21/04/2025 14:38

@SeaStoat well done! That's fabulous.

eibbed999 · 21/04/2025 14:44

I'm at a similar point @TheZingyFish - I've done 5 injections of 2.5 (19lb down), and have just ordered my new pen. I'm feeling good on 2.5, no side effects and eating healthily, but that might change over the next 5 weeks, so I've gone up to a 5mg pen (negligible difference in price as I was given a 10% discount for the second pen). I plan to only use half of each jab by counting clicks, at least to start off with, and then I have the option to move up to 5 or 3.75mg if I feel like I need to. I've got a lot of weight to shift and am in this for the long haul, so don't want to race up the doses until I feel I need to.

WafflingDreamer · 21/04/2025 16:26

Most places a 2.5mg and 5mg pen are only a few pence difference in price so I'd always recommend getting a 5mg and then you always have a safety net to play with
