Hi,

Anyone on WLI and in the slow lane v. welcome here for a bit of plodding supportive chat!

Plodders, bobbers, plateau-ers, stallers and stuck ducks come on in! Would be great to chat with others who are in the same boat, ie travelling at the speed of snails on their WL journey.

I have a mountain to move (nearly 5 st), am not ready to give up on Mounjaro yet and would love a bit of company here on this long haul to reach a healthy BMI. 🦥 🐌 🏔️

Come join me if you have a long way to go (either due to slow losses or amount to lose) and would like some peer support to keep going when the scales are being stubborn. It’s hard being on WLI when it’s not working as well for you and progress is slow or stalled. This is a safe space to share anything, the good, the bad and the side effecty. Anything positive (scale or non scale related) as well as freedom to vent and grumble as much as you want

If you taking WLI and trucking along nicely or nearly at your goal weight that is fantastic but please post on a different thread.

Hello!

My weight has, predictably gone up this week (1.8 lbs since last saturday, 2.8 lbs since last sun). I've been expecting it after a run of 5-6 weeks of losing. I found I was more interested in food (and drink) this week. Had alcohol twice this week (x 2 drinks each time). I don't think that is the cause of the gain - think it is just a normal fluctuation. Also had 3 x huel meal replacements, although as appetite back more don't think I really needed them this week.

Whilst I look at lot better in clothes ( I feel 'normal' if that makes sense) I had a sobering reminder that I am still in the obese category this week. I had a biomechanical movement screening for my shoulder injury. I wore a T-shirt. Fine for all of the tests apart from one - they wanted to see my shoulder movement and video it whilst doing pressups. So down to my bra it was. Really enjoying looking at the video of my back fat afterwards with the young fit rehab trainer 😳! The result was my left external rotator cuff is weak and dysfunctional and my right just weak. My internal rotator cuff is fine though. 3+ months of rehab to get full strength...

I bought a lovely blouse this week reduced down from £295 to £89 (my max budget for these things). Interested in clothes again, to some extent anyway! One of the many good things about losing slowly is I know this will be fine for a long time, so I can justify it. I think it will also look ok, but looser, when at goal too. Handwash silk though - never had to worry about that kind of thing before!

Wondering if I need to buy another pen (despite buying three from ASDA in August). I am guessing that don't require an order every 6 weeks given they allowed you to buy three due to the price increases. However, with the new pens having much less in way of priming surplus (so no 5th/golden/bonus dose) I might get some old stock if I buy every 6 weeks rather than leaving a 3 month gap?! Over-thinking it, I'm sure...

AlmostStopped · 28/09/2025 09:37

Many congratulations on reaching your lowest weight in 16+ years @NotsosunnyShropshire !! 💫

Yesterday's 'gain' has now gone. Period has arrived instead. Every three weeks at the moment! I preferred the 5 month gap I had no so long ago. Late perimenopause - such fun. To be fair, I think I've got off quite lightly...so far...in terms of symptoms.

Orangesandlemons77 · 25/09/2025 18:23

Voy said they would let me have a break too, as long as over BMI 22 in future can restart anytime

This is encouraging to hear and hopefully more pharmacies will adopt this approach. I was with Voy at the start and found them good, switched a few months in to get a lower price elsewhere. I think I’ll pop Oushk an email to check if their policy is still the same for re-joiners.

Well done on the hard fought 2 lb drop @NotsosunnyShropshire! 🌟 lowest in 16 years is a real milestone, congratulations! I hope it gives you a nice mind boost to keep trucking.

I think we’ve all done so well to persevere through slow progress, so well done Team Plod! 🌸 🙌

I’ve maintained the last month but am counting this as a win as pre jabs my weight would have risen for sure, so am thankful for the meds stabilising effect and will rally myself to carry on and be patient for more losses to come.

Have the new pens already arrived ? I won't need one for about 6 months but I will probably need to order in Jan to keep on the books. I just got 100 insulin needles in as I am halving my dose from tomorrow. I was hoping to count clicks, but is this not possible?

PlodAlongPolly · 28/09/2025 10:51

Hey @AlmostStopped ah the ol’ monthly scuppering the numbers, glad it bobbed back down again for you! I’ve also had some weird 3 weekly periods since starting MJ, it’s probably peri but maybe also an effect of the meds (or one compounding the effects of the other?)

I hope your shoulder rehab goes well and you get the full strength and mobility back. All I can say is well done for doing push ups at all! I can manage standing ones using the kitchen counter but that’s it 🙈 I’m due to have another round of physio for my back soon and hoping the weight loss since my last attempt to improve it will help the process.

Ah the blouse sounds gorgeous! We all deserve lovely treats like this mid journey 🥰 I must admit I have been wrapping up in sweatshirts and jumpers since the cold snap! 😅

Yes I see what you mean about the new pens vs old stock, is hard isn’t it. I wonder how long the older stock pens will be around for. Am thinking about a break so prob won’t order any more for now.

I’m not sure how it will be with the new pens, but I found the counting clicks fine for the initial doses but unreliable for the final dose and used an insulin needle instead. They’re really easy and comfy to use, I know you don’t have to but I find using a 45 degree angle works best for me.
All the best with halving your dose Doggy and let us know how you get on :)

@Doggymummar I think click counting is still there on the UK pens - just less priming liquid (so not enough for a 5th dose, that I always took with a 1ml syringe needle). Don't know if they have filtered through to customers yet. Hopefully not!

I don't need to order a new pen (I have 5 left) just don't want ASDA to say it has been too long since I last ordered (and insist on going back to 2.5 mg) and prob also a good idea to stock up on the 3 ml pens whilst they are still available. Main issue is DH's reaction when I buy another pen, despite having 5 in the fridge and spending nearly £600 on them last month 🙃! Much as I am sure he prefers me slimmer...I know he misses the me that enjoyed going out for meals and sharing copious amounts of wine with him so don't want to rock that boat too much. But then again - tough!

Thank you @PlodAlongPolly !Oh and there were only wall press ups - thank goodness! I don't think my weak and dysfunctional shoulder could manage anything else!

Yeah - think it is a bit of both with the peri/meds. I did have the 5 month gap on MJ though, and a six week gap. Now back to them even closer together 22 days cp 26 days before the big gap thing. Oh well!

Thank you for that, it's jab day today I might start going down the levels slower so it's not so obvious what I've been doing starting with 12.5 and seeing how I go.

Doggymummar · 29/09/2025 13:52

50 clicks done, so that should be 12.5mg let's see how that goes

Dollisdoo · 29/09/2025 22:59

Hi guys, hope I can join I definitely think I'm a plodder and a staller but without the amazing whoosh that comes with it 🙄. I'm in a different group as well with the starters that started when I did in July but I feel a bit out of place there as I seem to be the only one who isnt "only a kilo from target" or even if they have a way to go they're dropping my monthly loss per week 😫
I feel like maybe I'm a bit disheartened when I go on there so thought maybe I could come here for a bit of a pick me up or moan lol.
i'm currently dropping a pound a week and in my head I understand that a loss is a loss and its not creeping up but at the same time I wish I was one of those who was having big losses quicker 😔 I also stall for 2 or 3 weeks of the month and then drop 2 pounds then a pound then stall again, I also didn't even have the big losses like everyone else in the beginning.
Sorry guys I think I just wanted to moan, I know its a process and we're all going through it together I just think I hoped it would be "easy and quick" like other people's 😒

I started almost 12 weeks ago on the July thread, and I just made my first stone so I’m there with you 🙂

Doggymummar · 30/09/2025 08:43

A stone in three months is great, keep going. I am about 2 lbs a month so I feel your pain.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 30/09/2025 12:13

Yep, there’s a reason why I’m on here - 9 months in and I’ve not lost 2st yet!

RainbowZebraWarrior · 30/09/2025 12:47

People who started in July are 'only a kilo or so from target'? I'd suggest that they didn't have much to lose then. I knew when I started that I wouldn't be done and dusted within 2 to 3 months and it was going to be more like 2 years as I had 40 kilos to lose. I'd imagine they likely only started a few points above a healthy BMI.

I still think that very rapid weight loss is actually quite scary. I'm happy to plod and I've never had the 3/4/5/6lb weight losses in my life that some others have. I used to see it in Slimming World all the time. This genuinely feels more sustainable. I'm hoping it's been better for my skin, too.

I haven't weighed for 2 weeks as I bobbed back up over 80 kilos last time when I'd been down to 79 and was hoping to see a drop to 78. That part can be very disheartening and is why I ran screaming from the other threads

Dollisdoo · 30/09/2025 15:29

They have been having 2kg+ losses weekly from the start some of them or more. So I understand them dropping to nearly target that quickly, I just get disheartened that they can have over my whole monthly loss in one week and are nearly at target 🙄
I have been at 78kg now for 3 weeks just hoping to see 77kg I started 12 weeks ago and have lost 6kg which is great but it doesn't feel that great when others have had that by week 3.
6 years ago I dropped from a size 22 to a size 4 due to stress in about 10 months, I looked very unwell at that size and weight but I was kinda hoping that the weight I put on would drop almost as easily, unfortunately not, I'm a plodder 😫

HereIGoOnceMore · 30/09/2025 19:02

I think it’s worth keeping the maths in mind too. I’m only 5”2 and post menopausal, meaning I’d put on weight if I consumed as many calories as some younger, taller posters.

And whilst it definitely feels unfair at times, I tend to agree that slow but steady may be more sustainable. I certainly hope so.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 30/09/2025 22:07

Apparently a slower loss means less risk of hair loss and more likely that your skin will shrink with you - or at least a better fit!

I should think there will be some old stock around for a bit, will miss the golden dose when it does go! Hopefully the new pens will continue with the clicks to make it easier to adjust doses.

I know what you mean about the going out for meals enjoyment, I think I do miss this too. DH and I had one out the other week but I only managed just under half the main and (unheard of for me) half the pud! Would never swap it for the weight back though, is worth it to keep plodding down.

Ah cool, wall press ups sound more gentle, need to set a reminder or something to do my counter top ones as keep forgetting!

Does anyone else feel a bit more forgetful and foggy on MJ? Probably peri, but have wondered if the meds have had an effect. Sorry your cycle has been so messed up @AlmostStopped and hope it settles down to a more predictable cycle soon.

Come on in @Dollisdoo you’re v welcome here for a pick me-up or moan anytime! I started this for the same reason as it wasn’t long before I felt like the odd one out in my month starter group and was getting disheartened, but it turns out there’s lots of plodders out there - it’s way more common/ normal than I think any of us realised! 😊 🐌 💛 1 lb a week is a great loss rate and healthier than fast/ high losses which can have knock on health effects. WL stalls seem to be a (frustrating but common) pattern for lots of us too, I’ve had a few lengthy stalls the longest was 10 weeks without a single pound off, but you know what they say slow and steady wins the race 💪 we will get there!

I also hoped for quick and easy at the start but have accepted this is the pace my body is able to go (with it’s health issues and peri) and try to focus on the bigger picture - the overall downward trend. In my head I swapped out the hope for quick and easy for ‘steady and worthwhile’ which feels achievable, even with stalls/ plateaus and the dreaded bob(!). Glad you found us and feel free to dip in and out as you need x
