Plodders Club 🐌

Hi,

Anyone on WLI and in the slow lane v. welcome here for a bit of plodding supportive chat!

Plodders, bobbers, plateau-ers, stallers and stuck ducks come on in! Would be great to chat with others who are in the same boat, ie travelling at the speed of snails on their WL journey.

I have a mountain to move (nearly 5 st), am not ready to give up on Mounjaro yet and would love a bit of company here on this long haul to reach a healthy BMI. 🦥 🐌 🏔️

Come join me if you have a long way to go (either due to slow losses or amount to lose) and would like some peer support to keep going when the scales are being stubborn. It’s hard being on WLI when it’s not working as well for you and progress is slow or stalled. This is a safe space to share anything, the good, the bad and the side effecty. Anything positive (scale or non scale related) as well as freedom to vent and grumble as much as you want

If you taking WLI and trucking along nicely or nearly at your goal weight that is fantastic but please post on a different thread.

@DrowningButNooneIsListening It's both. The pen must be discarded after 30 days once it's in use, or, once it is at room temperature. If you check the paper information leaflets that come in the box with the pen you will see there is a section about how to store the pen that covers both scenarios.

When the pharmacy is delivering to customers, they must ensure the cold chain is maintained and cannot use any of the 30 day timeframe as part of the delivery process if the delivery takes too long.

im confused, so my pen was despatched on 28th Aug and didn’t actually arrive until 4th sept so well out of the cold chain 48hour period they told me and it didn’t arrive cold. I haven’t started the pen as wasn’t due to immediately and am struggling to understand if it’s safe to use or not?

Have you asked them why it took 6 days? Mine is usually dispatched one day then arrives the day after with the ice packs still frozen or partly frozen. I think they are trying to cover their backs to a degree, but I'd be wary of using that provider again if they took so long. Some say that if the liquid is still clear (and not cloudy) it should be OK.

It was an issue with Royal Mail who just failed to deliver on 2 occasions but yes there was an initial delay. They are refusing any further communication and said to dispose of it at my local pharmacy. I’m at a loss as to what to do really and if it’s actually safe to use. It’s also a lot of money just to write off.

Doggymummar · 19/09/2025 20:43

It wouldn't bother me to use it, but you need to do what you are comfortable with

SilenceInside · 19/09/2025 21:10

@DrowningButNooneIsListening it is safe to use as long as it didn’t get over 30 degrees c which is not likely. But, they have failed in their responsibility to deliver it to you cold, between 2 and 8 degrees. So they should replace the pen and deliver you one within 48 hours so it stays cold. The 30 day countdown has already started, probably around the 1st of September. So you’ve got until 1st October ish to use all 4 doses. It’s up to you if you want to go past the 30 days. I probably would if it was kept in the fridge since you got it.

Separately I would pursue the pharmacy and ask them to resolve it by refund or new pen, or you will have to report them to the GPhC for failing to keep the cold chain.

TryingAgainAgainAgain · 19/09/2025 21:58

Email them again requesting a replacement pen or refund as they have not followed the Eli Lilly cold chain protocol, and copy in the GPhC,@DrowningButNooneIsListening:

[email protected]

I found that worked immediately. GPhC are very on the ball and automatically opened a case for me.

The pharmacy can then take it up with Riyal Mail.

Thank you, that’s my point exactly that I would’ve needed to have started the pen before I’d even received it. Which is when I asked for a replacement or a refund and they changed their tune saying I had 30 days from when it was opened. I’ll def try and email again

Great news about the next stone bracket @tryingtobesogood ! 💫

Brilliant wegovy is working for you @Orangesandlemons77 !

No weight loss for me this week on offical WI day but I am down a pound today so happy about that. No other news from me - I've made no progress with anything! Haven't even sorted out the protein shakes. Hoping writing that out will force me into action...on something at least.

tryingtobesogood · 21/09/2025 10:19

Thank you @AlmostStopped I am away for the weekend so may not see that in the scales this week! Though I was told by a rather handsome man that I looked ‘juicy’!!! I’ve decided that was a compliment lol

we are at Butlins for the weekend, eating out all the time and I am struggling with the huge portion sizes. I can hardly eat half of what is on my plate and finding the food overwhelming. My sister, who does not know I am on WLI and is slim, is stuffing her face while I am nibbling away. How she hasn’t worked it out I don’t know.

anyway, I dropped from 10mg to 7.5 because of the side effects and worried it was not working anymore but there is a decent amount of food suppression going on that I had not realised. I think because I manage my portion sizes at home and when we eat out we dont go to places that pile it high.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to touch base, sorry I’ve been off a bit and missed the last couple pages of posts but hope everyone is doing ok and hello and welcome to any new joiners 👋 🐌 💗. Sept has been a hectic month and feels like it’s galloped away! No losses for me this month, just more delightful bobbing but happy the overall trend is down over nearly a year now. Due to jab tonight after a 4 day delay due to guests staying with us and meals together and one pub meal out, wanted to avoid upset tum and not be spotted handling the pens in/ out of the fridge etc.

I am a bit nervous of going swimming again after a long break but am planning to go for a session either this week or early next week. Have found a swimming dress/ tankini thing and shorts combo that fits ok and covers the wobbliest bits! Hoping the water won’t be too cold!

Bit cheesed off because I haven't lost anything now for two weeks, despite using a tracking app to count calories. Its a pain because I only ever lose one pound a week anyway, and with the new prices I an not sure how long I can continue. 🙄

Overtheatlantic · 24/09/2025 20:17

This is an excellent post that I read recently and it gave me hope.

GeraniumRoseblush · 24/09/2025 22:32

@Overtheatlantic thanks for posting that thread. I have been internally whinging for the last week about my lack of/non-existent progress but that thread has made me feel somewhat normal. I have read too many threads where people are losing 2-3lbs consistently weekly which has really made me question why I'm not. Maybe us plodders are actually the normies 😀

Overtheatlantic · 25/09/2025 07:28

I felt the same when I read it. I haven’t seen the scale move in a couple of weeks but I’m still fitting better in my clothes, and I’m not fretting over the actual weight loss numbers. Best of luck to all of us.

Ah thanks for posting this article @Overtheatlantic , that made me feel better!
Yes @GeraniumRoseblush we could well be the normies! Viva la escargot! 🤩

Interesting I noticed in diet clubs that the men always did well and rocketed in their progress, some lost loads like 10+ stone. I guess we have the higher fat percentage as ladies which is less energy hungry to sustain than muscle.

Me too and trying to focus on this , have semi given up on the scales for now as they seem to be stuck in a petulant mood

Same here @Deadringer has been about a month now, bit of a bob but no loss. Going to try to stick it out longer in the hope of losing more as not even out of the obese category yet but the higher pricing is really tough to justify when losses stall.

I kind of wish the pharmacies had a clause that if you’ve been on MJ or other WLI that you can come off and have a break, eg try to continue weight loss yourself with other methods for a while and can go back on jabs later if you need/ want to. But WITHOUT the having to be an obese bmi as long as you are a past patient and still have weight to lose to reach a healthy weight. Just thinking it would be great to have the freedom to come off MJ for say 6 months, save the money and try to lose my own way for a bit and if I managed to get into the overweight or upper normal range bmi that it wouldn’t preclude going back on jabs to lose the last bit.
Basically to have flexibility to stop for a while and re-start but not get penalised if someone has had some success in losing more off jabs (and are no longer bmi obese) but have more to lose to reach a healthy weight.

I guess if you’ve not lost loads off jabs and are within say a stone of obese you could fudge the numbers a bit to re qualify, but I hate lying and wouldn’t want to do this. Just wish past patients who are still big but longer obese could qualify as returning patients.

Oushk will let you do that polly. It's the reason I stick with them despite all the madness. They also dont mind you microdosing and stocking up. I've 4 15 mg pens which I am using to dose 7,5 so I've enough to,last ages at the minute. I'm down 2lb to 159 mid week, which is a new low. BMI 26.5. They will prescribe to 19 if you can prove you've been on them with someone else.

PlodAlongPolly · 25/09/2025 18:04

Oh wow I didn’t know this, thanks @Doggymummar! I am with Oushk too and didn’t realise this was an option. So they will take you back if you are no longer in the obese bmi category?

I wonder how long they are happy for people to take a break for, if it’s time limited for returning customers.

I have two pens in the fridge and two coming next month (with an offer they were running at the pre-Sept prices) so plan to use them up and see where I’m at to weigh up taking a break.

I assumed they would only take ‘old’ customers if they were still obese, rather than overweight bmi.

Voy said they would let me have a break too, as long as over BMI 22 in future can restart anytime

GeraniumRoseblush · 25/09/2025 18:32

@PlodAlongPolly Viva La Escargot indeed! Love that 🤣🤣
@Doggymummar well done on 2lbs down! 👊

Doggymummar · 26/09/2025 10:35

Thanks ladies, deffo give oushk a call and check but that was how their maintenance plans worked. I left the FB group during the madness so I'm a bit out the loop bits that's why Ipved to them as I hom 30bmi as I knew they prescribed for maintenance. I'm only gonna maintain on 2:5 tho or maybe even wegovy I don't think they would let you have 15 after a few months break

NotsosunnyShropshire · 26/09/2025 16:22

tryingtobesogood · 13/09/2025 09:03

Stuck stuck stuck … still the same weight I was nearly a month ago. I know I am eating really well, so healthily and at around 1000-1200 cals a day and feeling satisfied on that, moving more, my clothes fit so much better, better than a month ago. But no movement on the scale. I think I’ve hit a ‘set point’ and my body is not giving up this fat easily.

but, dropping from 10mg to 7.5mg has been the best. My mood is so much better, I no longer feel low for no reason and have found my mojo again. I am going to stay here and focus on eating well and exercising and hope that I break through this stall.

I’ve struggled the last several weeks and finally went down 2lbs this week. I’m now at my lowest weight for at least 16 years. Hopefully I’ve broken this set point. My next one was another 16 years previous to this one. So I’m sure I’ll have that one to look forward to as well.

Without MJ, learning about set points and learning to trust the process, I would have given up ages ago.
