Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

I’ve just ordered so hopefully will arrive and I can join the March club… mixed emotions but I was looking at some photos from 5 years ago and feeling so sad, tired, unhealthy. I want to kick start something new in my life, actually look after myself for once, so this is it. Fingers and toes crossed. Great to read everyone’s posts so far

Age 44 - weight 89kg

Doidontimmm · 15/03/2025 16:50

Just ordered this morning. Not sure if it can be approved on a weekend, been refreshing the page a lot!

Very very nervous.

Starting weight : 11st 11lbs
Goal weight : 9st 7lbs

@soupforbrains would you mind sharing what you've been doing re food and exercise? 12lbs in 2 weeks is AMAZING!! Bloody well done!

Carblover · 15/03/2025 17:01

Mine arrived this morning, and I've given myself the first 2.5mg dose but if I'm totally honest I didn't totally understand the instructions or you tube and it took me a while and a few jabs before I got the hang of actually getting the drug into my thigh😂 hopefully next week will be easier

poppysocks81 · 15/03/2025 17:13

Well, after a brilliant first week, it’s not been such a great second week. No weight loss and definitely feeling hungry and I have to wait until Tuesday for my next jab. I also feel cold and achy. I’m still keeping my eating under control, but it’s definitely harder in week 2! 😔

Er yes of course. I am by no means a guru. I’ve got bad knees from a lifetime of ice skating so I can’t do much exercise (hoping to improve this with the weight loss) but I can share what I’ve been doing. Mostly I’ve been eating the same everyday so it might not work for everyone but where I’ve not been hungry/fancying things it’s worked for me.

I’m eating at 5 or 6 times a day at roughly 3 hour intervals.

I prepare;
1 apple (cut up because I find it more appealing to eat that way)
half a medium banana
1 fat free strawberry Greek yoghurt (I use the area Free&light ones because they’re portion pot size rather than a giant pot)
1 portion of grapes (roughly 10 grapes)
1 portion carrot sticks (half a medium carrot)
and either a small portion of cooked chicken sweetcorn and brown rice OR 5 water biscuits, light Philadelphia mini tub and smoked salmon.

i tend to eat the banana and the yoghurt for breakfast and then take all the rest with me to work. I eat it in 3 or 4 goes. I just eat however much I feel like each snack time. I make sure I always eat either the apple or carrot (good fibre) and always eat the chicken/salmon.

in the evenings I will sometimes finish off the bits I didn’t eat in the day with some extra protein or I eat something else. In my first week I felt full really easily so I often just had some cooked chicken in the evenings. But this week I ate a bit more normally in the evenings. I’ve had pasta with crème fraiche, spinach and herbs. And also a MyProtein ready meal type thing. I made a big batch of a rice dish which is basically just things I like but is saffron rice, egg, chicken, prawns, peas and sweetcorn. It keeps well and is very easy to portion into any size of portion I feel like.

exercise wise I can’t do much at the moment but weekdays I walk the dog for a 20minute brisk walk every morning. On Thursday evenings I skate for an hour and on Fridays I do 45 mins of stretching. at the weekend I take the dog for a more leisurely but much longer walk. 2-3 hours each day usually. But that’s it.

im hoping that I’ll be able to introduce more exercise once I reduce the load on my poor knees a bit by shedding a good chunk of this weight.

Thank you, its interesting to see what others have been doing, especially when they've had success!

SharpOpalNewt · 15/03/2025 17:37

My body was definitely fighting back this week but I still lost 1.5lbs. 5.5 in two weeks, very happy with that and if it continued in the same way as this week. I'm trying not tracking just now as I should have a regular eating pattern this week and be able to take my lunch to work, rather than travelling and relying more on bought prepared food.

soupforbrains · 15/03/2025 17:39

You’re welcome. I should also add that I’ve not had any problems with constipation at all (my planned food was partly chosen for that specifically).

I am extraordinarily happy with this weight loss. When I lost 6lb in the first week I assumed some of it would be water weight and that I wouldn’t possibly lose the same again in week two. But I did! I’m prepared for the pace to slow down as I progress but for now I’m just thrilled.

FrozenFractal · 15/03/2025 18:04

mounjstarter · 15/03/2025 13:34

What apps are you using to track your weight? I don't have a Fitbit or anything like that, but it's really heartening seeing everyone's weight loss charts.

@mounjstarter I’m using Shotsy, just the basic version, didn’t pay for an upgrade. I’m a sucker for a pretty chart and I like that you can record injection site.

TryingMJ · 15/03/2025 18:49

@mounjstarter I’ve got some Bluetooth scales which link to an app on my phone (I think it’s called AE Active Era) so when I step on the scales it updates my weight and I also have that app linked to My Fitness Pal so my weight automatically updates on there, and I use MFP for calorie counting.

TryingMJ · 15/03/2025 18:55

Ok Saturday night discussion topic…

Do any of you have a diagnosis or suspect you may be neurodivergent and feel that it has affected your relationship with food over the years?

I don’t have any diagnosis but feel I have traits of both autism and ADHD. I was a very picky eater as a child and was forced to stay at the table until I’d finished my plateful, to the point of gagging. Food textures were unbearable to me and I ate a lot of bland, beige food/white carbs. With a modern lens I wonder if I could have had ARFID. I became a vegetarian around age 11 and that helped as meat was a big trigger. I now (or should I say up to three weeks ago when I started the jabs!) have obsessive thoughts over food. I couldn’t stop eating even when full, always turned to food for comfort, stress etc. Felt I could have had binge eating disorder.

I know this sounds like a lot of self-diagnosis! Just a few thoughts and wondering if anyone else has experiences of this type of thing?

soupforbrains · 15/03/2025 19:17

That’s an interesting topic.

I have ADHD. I wasn’t an enormously picky eater but I was forced to stay at the table and finish my plate. It definitely formed my relationship with food as because I was programmed to always finish everything I would often save my favourite part of the meal until last to make sure I got rid of the flavour of the ‘horrible bits’ which often meant I woukd eat beyond being full because I wanted to eat the ‘nice’ bit. I don’t think that’s related to my ADHD though. Just caused by my upbringing.

(I also went vegetarian at 11 just to avoid the meat triggers I hated)

I found that because my parents had been extremely strict around food (eat what you’re given, never allowed to snack between meals, never any sweets, treats or nibbles, no crisps or anything similar, never any pudding never any pizza or burgers or any ‘fun’ food) when I got ‘free’ at uni I just had no self control around all the lovely foods I’d been denied or in fact around any food. Because I’d never been taught to listen to my body’s signals or understand what full felt like.

I don’t think any of that was ADHD related though. For me.

However. I have found that since being on mounjaro it’s not just the Food Noise which has been silenced. But it’s actually revealed to me how ‘full’ and ‘busy’ my brain normally is with just chaotic thoughts. Because a lot of them have been silenced too. I’m more focused and calmer, my thoughts are better organised and it’s been ‘quiet’ in my head.

at risk of making myself sound like a bit of a psychopath, the first few days I was a bit lonely in my own head because I didn’t have my usual voices and noise.

Overjiggly · 15/03/2025 19:31

I suspect I have adhd my son is autistic and doing all the workshops and meetings revealed it all to me.

I am also feeling chaotic thoughts have been silenced a bit as well. I didn't realise quite how busy my brain was until it was switched off.

Week 2 day 2 for me and the suppression is so much stronger than last week and I have the dreaded sulphur burps just when I thought I got away with no side effects. Contemplating staying on 2.5mg for another month now.

alwaysthepessimist · 15/03/2025 19:57

Can I join please? I’m on week 2 - lost half a stone first week, no side effects, no snacking like crazy either, going to be ordering the 5mg next time, just looking for the best place to get it from to save some pennies.

starting weight was 142.6 kgs. So much to lose - feels like I’m at the bottom of a very big mountain!

GameOfJones · 15/03/2025 20:42

Second jab today. No side effects so far and suppression definitely disappeared in the 48 hours or so before I injected again. I've had a nice day though, enjoyed being able to eat a bit more normally but not too crazy. We did a walk with DDs this afternoon and stopped at a pub halfway round but just had one drink and shared a bowl of chips.

I have had barely any sugar. I just don't seem to be interested at all ... which is good! I'm looking forward to how this week pans out.

I had a code to save £30 so have ordered my second pen and ordered the 5mg. I may try and do 3.75mg to start with but will see how the next weeks go.

Bipaloss · 15/03/2025 21:55

Very interesting topic. I was one of those can’t leave the table until you finish your food but also where my parents told me in my teens if you gain you will roll down the road (my DC more or less now eat what they want with encouragement and control). My sister was and still is anorexic (at the age of 50) and I have had the opposite ,but both of us are emotional eaters just in the opposite direction. Food for me is comfort unfortunately and when I’m happy and busy I loose weight (sister is opposite where food is a punishment). I was a skinny very tall child, problem was I stopped growing when I was 12 (from tallest in my class to average (I’m 5’7) Weight started become an issue since then, I have been 70 kg twice in my 20’s and twice above 120kg now in my 30s once below 80 but majority over 100. I think childhood impacts make a huge impact as well is if you have any underlying learning disabilities . Since the past week since taking the jab I see my eating habits more like an illness where I have to sort out the medical issue but also deal with the mental , to find a way I suppose-I find this group almost like my weight loss AA as reading other stories makes me relate that I’m not the only one and that we can support each other during this journey during and beyond ☺️

Overhaul54 · 15/03/2025 23:33

@StoutOldTrout oh no that’s disappointing. Hopefully it’s just because you had different clothes or drank a load of water before weighing yourself.

Week 3 here. No loss week one. Only down 4 lbs from the other two.
Have eaten loads today and had three nights at the pub where I ended up drinking more than I wanted. So probably put the 4lbs back on 😬.
I have noticed I’m not needing to snack and really I’m drinking from habit rather than actually wanting to drink alcohol. Will try harder this week !

Justformounjaro · 15/03/2025 23:46

Third injection done.

SW 15st 0lbs
CW 14st 8.8lbs
Weight loss this week: 2.1lbs

Given that I’m eating pretty normal meals, have been out for a meal twice this week, and had takeaway last night, I’m pretty pleased with my results. I have no real desire to snack on chocolate, biscuits, crisps etc. If I do feel I want something, I’ve got a bowl of cherry tomatoes and satsumas on the kitchen worktop and snack on them.

I have felt like there’s something sitting in my stomach all week though. I had a similar feeling years ago which I finally found was massive constipation - in spite of going to the loo virtually every day! So I’m very keen that this shouldn’t be repeated. I’ve been making sure I’ve been drinking enough, and have pysillium husks or figs every day to ease the process.

I’m slightly obsessed by the results on my scales and very keen not to lose muscle mass so have been doing a squats and kettlebell workout in the bathroom morning and night as well as rowing. Currently my stats say that my body fat percentage has gone down by 2% and my muscle mass has gone up by 2% so I hope that means that I’m going in the right direction.

Off to bed now. Hopefully I won’t have as bad a time as last Saturday overnight/Sunday. I’ve not been drinking and had a late lunch/early dinner and only a milky coffee since 6pm so I hope to be up and raring to go in the morning.

Well done everyone, and keep up the good work - we will do this!

PippaJJ · 16/03/2025 00:35

W1D3: Thursday injections - 2.5mg - thigh

BMI S/C: 66

Goal: to feel better.

Suppression: felt both physically full, and hungry, still have food noise.

Side effects: burping all day.
Kcalorie: tracking only, under mfp recommendation for WL
Supplements: multi vit +mineral, vitd, biotin, peppermint gels.

Reached protein goal.
Protein shake for breakfast with yoghurt and eggs
Protein shake for lunch with cold cuts and cheese (leftovers)
Tuna for dinner with sweetcorn, houmous and cucumber. Yoghurt for supper

Unofficial step on the scales showing 0.4kg down but that could easily be different clothes or water.

Formally diagnosed with AuADHD as an adult - affected by safe foods, foods touching/textures, executive functioning difficulties, sensory seeking/comfort eating and GI issues (known links to neurodivergent ppl, at least in the ND community). Probably some interoception issues.
Have support of a therapist who is knowledgeable about ND - only started injections after working on internalised abilism and working out ways to accommodate my needs instead of trying to fight against myself while also trying to lose weight.

Furryfeline · 16/03/2025 01:36

Following from a a pp I am Asd, it has switched off brain noise, also a mild addiction to codeine, first time in years I haven't had a small dose before bed just forgot.

northernlight20 · 16/03/2025 07:17

Morning everyone, I’m on week 2 day 5 and I had suppression in wk 1 but the suppression in wk 2 has been a lot stronger, really struggling to eat much at all. Anyone else feeling the same?

SharpOpalNewt · 16/03/2025 07:18

I felt the suppression was much less in week 2, and that my body started fighting back to put the weight back on.

Flipper1234 · 16/03/2025 07:45

Congratulations on all the fab losses and welcome to all the new people who have joined!

Third injection for me today.

SW 191lb
Week 1 loss 6lb
Week 2 loss 2.5lb
CW 182.5lb

Loss so far 8.5lb

Had an event Friday night with canapés and 3 course dinner and we were out yesterday for a pub lunch - I didn’t go overboard but I reckon I could have made it a 3lb loss without those!

Second pen ordered and arrived - will be going to 5mg.

Am finding thoughts of food tend to return from Thursday afternoon
