Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

Hi all, hope everyone is feeling good, I am on day 3 and extremely fatigued, I just want to sleep all day. I have been lucky not to have any other symptoms but was wondering if anyone else is suffering with this tiredness

I took my 2nd jab last night and today I have been totally floored. I had to go back to bed this morning, slept on the sofa as soon as I got a chance this afternoon and back to bed early tonight. But no food noise and deffo appetite suppressed. Hopefully more energy tomorrow x

Paulahoust · 14/03/2025 23:10

Hi I am getting my pen delivered tomorrow but am away next Saturday for 2 days and am thinking of not starting until next Sunday so don't have risk of symptoms when we will be at a football match and shopping, but desperately wanting to start! Do you think If I jab this Sunday I will be symptom.free by next Saturday?

Furryfeline · 14/03/2025 23:41

Day 2 no unpleasant side effects, appetite suppression yes but food noise not completely. It's weird I want the food and am still thinking about it , but I have gone to eat it and don't actually want to put it in my mouth. I haven't enjoyed eating any meals have forced down eggs and salad one halloumi fry, and a couple of prawns in batter .I did enjoy a protein bar though I might try eating those as meal replacements. Fingers crossed for no nausea, I can't abide nausea.

Yeah you should be fine. My 1st jab was last Sunday and I can eat as normal today, plus feel normal too. Don't put it off, just go for it.

First week done :)
SW 12st 5
CW 12st 0
GW 10st

I wasnt expecting to lose so much in one week, I am expecting that to down now. Side effects seem to have died down , having my 2nd dose this afternoon. I don't feel like I've had to make too many changes to my diet but I am having longer spaces between meals and not feeling preoccupied with the next meal which is a nice feeling.

Sourdough123 · 15/03/2025 07:34

First week done.

SW: 94.2kg
CW: 91.5kg

So a 2.5kg loss or just over 5lb. Really really pleased with that although I know some of that is water weight.

Taking my second jab later and hoping for some good, renewed suppression as it was definitely wearing off for me by day 5/6 of week 1.

Doing 16:8 for the first time and hoping that I can build a habit with it and it becomes my new way of eating and how I manage my weight long term. I do miss having breakfast though so I might have some today.

Good luck to everyone else having their first weigh in today!

Well done, I'm similar to you weight wise and that's also my goal weight. I decided to weigh today instead of tomorrow as I have an event and I'm still sitting at a 2 pound loss. Will jab tomorrow and hopefully have a better week. Have you been exercising?

AddictedtoCrunchies · 15/03/2025 07:38

Week 1 done

SW 190.6lbs
CW 186lbs

4.6lbs off. Half marathon tomorrow. Hoping I can fuel ok for it.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 15/03/2025 08:03

Morning all, so encouraging to see people's progress. My first pen is being delivered today, I'm thinking of jabbing tomorrow afternoon. I have a long walk planned with friends tomorrow that I don't want to feel crap for.

Feeling equal parts excited/crapping myself!

I really really hope I don't feel dreadful on it, I'm a single parent and struggle to keep on top of life feeling well

TryingMJ · 15/03/2025 08:10

Morning all, catching up on all the messages. Welcome to new folks and well done to those just starting out and taking first jabs. Well done to those who began at the start of the month and experiencing positive results.

I took my third jab last night- my partner jabbed me in my belly. I’ve always done belly so far, alternating sides. Haven’t tried anywhere else like thigh. Woke up around 5am feeling like I had a mild hangover- like a bit washed out, tired eyes, tummy a little gurgly. But nothing unmanageable, and that’s been the normal feeling for me the day after jab.

I had a pizza for tea last night! It was one of those individual portion ones that’s 545 calories for the full pizza, had some mayonnaise to dip the crusts and that was it. Before I would’ve had a full pizza (not individual size!) with added extra cheese, plus fries on the side and lashings of mayo.

I went to an exercise class last night too! A fun dance one- clubbercise. Felt really good!

After saying I would challenge myself to “no weigh weekend” after seemingly gaining 1.5lbs overnight last weekend after jab night, I couldn’t resist this morning and weighed. I am pretty much exactly the same as yesterday- with a 0.2lbs “gain” from 12 stone 9.2lbs to 12 stone 9.4lbs. So not as much as last week but definitely feel like the day after jab could be a gaining type day (plus the pizza and the exercise class).

Have a good day everyone. I’ve been up since 6am with my 4 year old- this would often be a flash point for mindless tired snacking straight from the fridge/snack drawer but I’m not hungry at all and haven’t eaten yet and planning a protein yoghurt and some fruit (got a watermelon pot and pomegranate pot yesterday) later.

Good luck with the half. I’ve got a long marathon training run to do tomorrow and hoping that fuelling is manageable 🤞

@Lollzi86
Yes I have my protein, I haven't been going over my calories or eating too little, and I've been losing weight, I just wasn't expecting to want sweet food so much, I've had a choclate chip flapjack and a chocolate muffin today 😂

I definitely recommend getting some high protein pudding pots from the supermarket. Either the Arla ones or the ones from Lidl. They should be 20gm protein and between 95-220 calories depending on the pot. I find they really hit the spot when I want something sweet but also load on the protein and so I feel good for having them. That mindset shift is so important because I am not restricting sweet but also eating well!

When overthinking shows up at the party and joy leaves the room......

Today is weigh in, will do the 3rd injection this evening. Some musings on what goes through my head. I've been keeping an eye on the scales (yes I am one of those daily weighers) and was hovering around 152 lbs on the scales for the last couple of days. But today, official weigh in day, is showing as 153 lbs. Now I know full well this is due to constipation, I have been fortunate to have steady suppression and my eating has been consistent, small meals, no snacking, low cal, high protein. So why do I feel fed up?! I know I've really actually lost 7 lbs over the first two weeks, and recording it as 6 is neither here or there but I've never lost anything like that amount in two weeks over the last decade, so it's stolen my joy!

Very aware that I am being ridiculous and wondering if others have become so highly invested, like me, that they lose perspective a little?

You shouldn't have any problem at all by then, even if you do happen to get side effects with your first dose. Not everyone does. But it has a half life which means it is at its strongest effect in the first 3 days or so and then reduces as the week goes on. So you should be great.

I completely understand both the disappointment and the irrational nature of that disappointment! One thing that I have learned over the years is that daily weighing when focusing on what you are eating can be a good way to see the fluctuations. I was also advised to take the lowest of the week as my actual weight which is so counterintuitive to someone fixated on the scale amount of a particular day. But it has helped my mindset a bit. So I still record the weekly bit with the jab but feel less fixated on that as the only important metric in that week. Does that make sense?

FeetZelet · 15/03/2025 08:44

Hello to you all who have inspired me, first jab 10 minutes ago.
Still slightly panicked but trying to calm down before hopefully going about my day.
Took so much support from the people who described the jabbing and how easy it actually was, it was! Praying I don’t experience severe effects, just hope to get control of my weight and food intake for good health into the future. So nervous though.
Have been reading the threads for weeks trying to get the courage to start, the shame at not being able to moderate food intake is very real. Menopause being the main contributor to severe gains during covid and established habits then.
So here’s hoping for good, sustainable outcomes for us all. It’s not only a major financial investment!

SW 14.01, BMI31.6, height 5’6” age 54 😔😔😔
CW 14.01
GW 10.0 a round number but will reassess as I progress.

Shalalalaboomboom · 15/03/2025 08:54

Morning all 👋

Nausea has kicked in for me. I did my first injection on Thursday and it started yesterday, got worse through the day. As I said before it just feels like morning sickness, sort of lingers in the background.

Appetite is interesting. I feel like I should be hungry but when I go to eat can't actually stomach much. Yesterday I only had small bowl of porridge, an apple and a big pot of yoghurt. That was all I could manage.

Hoping symptoms fade away but nothing that isn't manageable so far.

First weigh in on Thursday (if I can resist the temptation to do it before then 😅)

Pipsballoon · 15/03/2025 09:11

@needtolose70lb that is actually really helpful, thank you, I’m going to hold on to my lower weight. And dash off to buy prune juice!

Choirgirl699 · 15/03/2025 09:19

Week 2 weigh in and jab 3
SW 12st6lb
CW 12st1lb
GW 10st

2lb loss this week.

Delighted with this loss, really pleased that the loss slowed down as I seemed to lose this by Tuesday and then just stayed the same. This sort of weight loss for me, is maintainable.

Suppression remains same, able to eat small meals so not starving myself. No snacking on rubbish.

Have moved jab time to the morning rather than this evening in the hopes that my extreme tiredness occurs during the night rather than the next day.

I've ordered another 2.5mg pen from Zava. Going to move to Oushk for the next pen and remainder of my time on MJ.

Well done everyone! This is such a new thing for us and everyone is reacting differently, both physically and emotionally. It's new, it's scary, it's exciting. We've got this!

@cmh18 and @Loveab123

May I join the little club!? Similar weight and height with the same goal. Just started wk 3.

Been ill all week so no exercise, not that I do much other than walking and run around after the kids! That seems to be enough.

MamaNewtNewt · 15/03/2025 09:28

I did my third jab last night and already received my order from Oushk. I've stuck at the 2.5mg for the next one, what is everyone else doing?

I was going to move up to 5mg for my third order but that is the week I go on holiday and don't want to risk any side effects, so I think I might move up after that.

FrozenFractal · 15/03/2025 09:30

Well, week one is a wrap and I have lost 6lb! Very happy with it and although it’s obviously not all fat, I definitely feel less bloated and sliiightly more trim around my waist.

Some things I noticed this week:

It was very easy to just stop the snacks, sugar and booze. I can honestly say I have not had a single piece of chocolate or other sugary treat which is unheard of for me! The cravings are truly gone and it’s an amazing feeling.

Getting enough protein while in calorie deficit is quite tricky and definitely requires planning. Can’t just wing it. I managed more of less 100g every day though.

My sleep has improved so much! I got a lot more deep sleep this week, I wake up much earlier than I used to and I feel rested which hasn’t always been the case. I’ve had some very vivid bonkers dreams which is a side effect I can live with.

I’ve not have any usual side effects so far but I have been drinking a lot of water to prevent constipation. Still, decided to move my jab from Sat morning to Fri evening in case something changes in the future.

I will need to start some regular exercise. Any beginner weight routine ideas/accounts to follow welcome! I’ve reads lots about how people miss their curves and bums once the weight comes off. I used to be a pear shape before piling on the current weight and I really need to do my best to avoid a saggy bottom.

MJ might just be the miracle drug… Good luck everyone!

I'm now counting down the days until I start. Keep getting support emails from my provider so it's feeling real now! Original plan was to jab yesterday but I've got a big week at work next week that I can't be ill for so I'm planning on next Fri evening but DH has just announced he'll be out that evening so now in worried about doing my first jab when I'm in sole charge of 4dc! Maybe I'll wait until next Saturday morning but then we are out on Saturday afternoon and I don't want to be ill for that. Maybe I'm overthinking this 😂

Yes, I've been challenging myself with steps, so my daily average over the last week has been 21500 a day.

HopeIt · 15/03/2025 09:44

As I am still with slimming world (started yet again end of Jan) it was weigh day (even though first jab was last Monday) and I was pleasantly surprised.

SW 12st12lbs
CW 12st8lbs
GW 9st13lbs

so a loss of 4lbs although I hadn’t actually weighed myself since two weeks before that as at that weigh in I was so utterly disappointed that I hadn’t lost anything I went ‘off plan’ for a week enjoying wine, beer, burgers and chips! Probably exactly what brought me to MJ at the end of last week.

Today I’m feeling incredibly positive and realise that it will still be a slow and steady race but feel like I can actually do this, feeling in control is so incredibly good for my mental health!
