Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

Looking for some moral support , so thank you all in advance… My pen arrived Wednesday and today is Friday and I’m still scared to take it, I’m a worrier and overthinker !
What terrifies me most is the side effects, I can deal with a bit of nausea and headache etc as I have chronic migraines but I’m terrified I’m violently sick and in pain I can’t go to work.
I’m also terrified of what foods to eat, as been on too many TikTok’s of horror stories.
I don’t eat chicken (phobia) so protein can be issue and I’ve seen some people say beef or mince trigger of severe vomiting, although I generally eat a lot of vegetarian and I’m quite healthy. I do enjoy wine my guilty pleasure.

Current bmi 34… 5ft 6 …..15 stone 4lb and very unhappy and quite depressed with my weight .

I have suffered with unknown upset gut for years. Nausea diarrhea bloating. No one knows what it is and it's been debilitating at times. I was scared this would make everything worse but I was getting heavier and heavier (even though I was on the toilet more than I wasn't). Jabbed last Saturday... Not had a single gastric symptoms since. It's stopped the bloating, even my DH noticed that I didn't look bloated, I've been as regular as clockwork.
Try not to worry about it. Most of aren't affected. Or in my case, it appears to have fixed what the NHS have been unable to diagnose for close to 20 years

That’s so interesting I had suffered from IBS for years, that’s a factor I’ve been worried about too . Glad it’s helped your gut problems , fingers crossed that would be a wonderful bonus .
I’m working up courage to inject today ,as I’m off work today.
thanks for advice xx

Morning all

Its weigh day and jab day for me, got on the scales this morning and I have lost 2IB the same as yesterday.

I know that this week I have slipped by not having enough water and not actually eating enough, I am going to force myself! Last night I made sausage and mash and I had a sausage wrap as I could not face the mash or veg and could only manage about 3 mouthfuls of the wrap so that went in the bin!

Week 2
SW 13 4
CW 12 7
GW 9 7
Total loss 11ibs

Week 2 weigh in for me and I've lost exactly 4lbs again. I'm really pleased with that as I've been calorie counting and weighing my food this week and was surprised by the info this gave me. I've been using eufy for calorie counting, but it's not great (although the scales and the app are) what is everyone else using for calorie counting?

SW: 18st 7.4lbs
CW: 17st 13.7lbs
GW: 10st 7lbs

MamaNewtNewt · 14/03/2025 08:44

Well done on the losses my fellow Friday weighers

Sleepeazie · 14/03/2025 08:52

My 2nd official weigh in is Sunday morning.
so far I’ve lost 1.6 pounds this week and 5.6 pounds in total.

I do (and always have) cook from scratch every evening with plenty of protein and veg. I also avoid white carbs as much as possible. I’m overweight because of being bed ridden after covid rather than a poor diet. I also drink too much (can probably do a days worth of calories a week in alcohol).

Since being on mounjaro I haven’t adapted my lifestyle very much. If anything it’s been a little worse as I’ve had an Indian take away (unusual craving) and a McDonald’s - caught in rain very early for appt with son. I’ve also had 3 boozy occasions.

I also have stuck to around 1600 calories (I’m an active 5ft1 woman). So a higher intake than many on here and much more in line with me losing a pound a week without mounjaro.

So although I haven’t lost as much as some, I am thrilled with my results.

I just thought I’d log this, incase anybody starting, wonders how strict you have to be and the impact of eat/drinking semi normally.

Ive upped my water throughout though, and still could up it more.

That’s very reassuring …that is the kind of food I’m hoping to continue eating (minus the chicken …. That’s another thread for phobias 🤣). So that gives me confidence of what to eat . To be honest I think I’ll delete TikTok I know it’s not the best place for sensible advise … it’s full of the drama stories. Think this will be my go to place for info .
Apologies one more question …..day of injections, I’m thinking today , weekends are my bad time for overindulging , I’m usually good mon to thur then it all goes wrong….and any advice on morning or evening to take it . Can you have say one glass of wine with a meal ? Or is it best advised to stay clear.

thanks again for all who came back , much appreciated I was even thinking of cutting my losses and not doing it but that’s given me reassurance .

Obviously everyone is different but I had 1/2 a bottle of wine last Friday and felt fine the next day (although over a bottle on Saturday night plus a couple of liqueurs coupled with my injection before going to bed and I felt like I had a bad hangover all day Sunday so I won’t repeat that! 😳).

I’ve not told anyone that I’m doing this, and weekends are when I drink and am most likely to socialise (and drink more) so I’m thinking I might swap to a Sunday night. You might want to see how you react first time to see whether you have any side effects.

Vvvvvvvxxxxxxx · 14/03/2025 09:14

I’m the same apart from husband , not said to anyone although I don’t know why because no shame getting help , I’m on HRT and open about that, that I needed help with hormones 🤣.
Thanks for your experience . I do enjoy a glass or 2 of wine on a Saturday evening … but don’t want to suffer. Might have a think about day to inject as something will have to give .
good luck on your journey .xx

Hi everyone
I took my second dose Wednesday night so 9 days in now. This is my experience in case anyone’s nervous.

Jab was basically painless, the instructions make it look way more complicated than it actually is.

Week 1 side effects were minimal, I was really cold Wednesday night and Thursday. My period started Thursday night so not sure how much of my stomach ache and gurgly belly was period or jab, either way it was pretty mild.
weirdly I had more energy in the day time but felt exhausted by 7pm.
suppression was high day 1-5, eased off a bit day 6-7 but since my calories were low the first few days I decided to get more calories in when it wore off anyway.
Snacking has basically been eliminated, I can still eat the same meals as before (I had a McDonald’s and takeaway pizza during the week to keep up appearances in front of partner who doesn’t know I’m using the jabs) definitely feel fuller more quickly so I ate the same food but less of it.
Water is now essential, drink as much as possible. Added bonus is that the water has cleared up my skin and the dry skin on my face is gone.

weighing weekly, so far I’ve lost 5.6lbs in 9 days. I’m also going to take measurements and photos 4 weekly, hoping the noticeable differences will keep me motivated.

quick side note, has anyone had a period whilst on the injections? Mine is usually light and 3-4 days. I’m currently on day 8 of the heaviest period of my life, just wondering if it’s connected?

Morning all. So far so good, no nasty side effects and definite immediate appetite suppression - I'm having to force myself to eat some evenings. And my wine intake is dramatically down - no urge to have more than one or two glasses when I'm out.

I'm going to change my dose day though - I didn't really think about when I tend to overindulge, but it's the weekends, weekdays are usually very measured. So it makes most sense to jab on a Friday, right? Or should it be mid-week? Not quite sure how long it takes to get to "peak effect" - is it immediate on the day or a couple of days later?

I haven't told anyone I'm on Mounjaro - mostly because I don't think it's anyone's business, but mainly because I don't want to have to explain the health reasons why I've been prescribed it at my BMI.

Did a sneaky step on scales this morning though. OMG - 4.6lb down in 5 days, and that's without me doing much exercise because I thought best to be cautious in week 1 and not overdo it.

SW 10st 4.6lb BMI 25.7 (adjusted from earlier because I bought shiny new digital scales!)
CW 10st exactly BMI 24.8
GW 8st 6lb BMI 20.9

That's the most I've managed to lose in the yo-yo weight loss/gain last 15 months.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 14/03/2025 10:13

I'm on day 6 of week 1. Scales are down and only side effects are indigestion and nausea.

I am due to jab tomorrow but I have a half marathon on Sunday. I obviously need to fuel for that and am worried I won't get enough food on board tomorrow evening if i jab in the morning. Would you

  1. Jab later today? (Can I jab on day 6?)
  2. Wait until i get home after the race? (Going to a really nice restaurant late afternoon.)
  3. Go with tomorrow as planned.

I'm confident I have enough body fat to power me through so I should be ok to go ahead tomorrow as planned but am Just musing. What would you do?

Hi @Vvvvvvvxxxxxxx i was very apprehensive too, but I’m glad I took the plunge, only Day 3 for me and I had a bit of nausea and slight headache the first night but then it gradually wore off and I’m 3lbs down already as making much better food choices and not interested in the usual chocolate etc. Anyway just wanted to say last night I made spaghetti bolognese and I just had a bowl of bolognese and didn’t fancy the spaghetti and I’ve been absolutely fine so clearly the mince thing is just for some people, but you could just try small amounts of different foods at first and you’ll soon find out what you can tolerate and what’s no go! Good luck! Xxx

Vvvvvvvxxxxxxx · 14/03/2025 10:22

Amazing, that’s great well done . Thanks again for reassurance Biscuit.xxxx

Can I be a late joiner please? I ordered yesterday, just waiting for dispatch. Was really hoping it would be quick so I can get started.

I'm 47, 5ft 7 and 17st. I've been slim and active for most of my life, gained weight around 5 years ago, lost over 3 stone then have just PILED it on since.

I have an underactive thyroid, anaemia, high blood pressure. I walk a lot and recently started suffering with plantar fasciatis. I also snore very badly I've read that mounjaro can help with the snoring abd PF so looking forward to those additional side effects

I'm really noticing how my weight is negatively impacting me. I feel do unwieldy and awkward, I even struggle to do my shoes up because of my stomach. It's awful.

Anyway, after months of deliberation, I've ordered snd sm looking forward to joining you.

Cw 17st 3
Happy with weight- 13st 7
TW 11st 7. I know I look good at this weight but just can't imagine it now.

yikesanotherbooboo · 14/03/2025 11:13

Day 12 today .Last night I mindlessly picked up and ate a handful of Bombay mix. It was the first time I had thought to snack like that ( actually no thought involved). Today I am feeling hungry and thinking about meals. Sunday’s jab feels a long way off . I suppose it is the low loading dose and its effect wearing off. I do tend to eat a healthy diet but I can binge on snacks and drink too much wine. The snacking had really dropped off for which I am grateful.

Fairislesweater · 14/03/2025 11:37

@Fatmumslim01 I’m also 4ft 11 - us shorties know after we gain a pound don’t we.

I woke up with a weird stomach ache today but it went quickly after I’d got out of bed.

Sleepeazie · 14/03/2025 12:00

@yikesanotherbooboo yesterday was my day 12 - and I was hungry. For the first time, I ate lunch and finished it and wanted a sweet treat (I had one!). Today, my full suppression is back.

I think it could be a lack of water/protein/cycle based etc.

I also had 1 day last week where the suppression was less.

Think it’s just a small blip in the journey 😀

Well done everyone that's lost do far. My weigh in day isn't until Sunday but had a sneaky weigh in today and it's only showing 2 pounds down. TMI but I haven't went in days. I'm usually quite regular. WFH today so going to try a laxative/bran flakes/anything else I can find to help me go.

Same but I do suffer with constipation sometimes anyway but the fear is now real as not been properly in days. Had 350ml of prune juice in total yesterday, another 250 this morning! Eating fruit and fibre for lunch and an apple and going for a walk in a bit, if none of that gets it shifting looks like I’m off to the chemist x

My toddler has laxido sachets, I had 2 this morning and some bran flakes. Finally went! So I know what I need to do next week if it happens again after my 2nd jab! Hopefully you get some relief soon.

Loveab123 · 14/03/2025 13:25

My 2nd jab day is Sunday (can't come quick enough as the hunger is real! Still making healthy choices). I am out tomorrow at an event which will involve food and a few (several) drinks. I know it's always good to eat clean before your jab so would you recommend I hold off until Sunday PM? Thanks.

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 14/03/2025 13:33

I am posting because I know that all the posters on here will understand my joy and no one in my life knows that that I am using WLI.

Today I had my first NSV non scale victory, I went to put on a pair of knee length boots that were tight to wear and were a struggle to zip up today they just slide up no issue and feel like they did when I bought them last year.

FrozenFractal · 14/03/2025 13:36

What is everyone thinking for the 2nd pen? Stick to 2.5 or go up to 5? I’m only a week in so not sure yet. Part of me thinks I could get 3.75 (or close to) out of the golden dose, then order a 5ml pen and do another one or two weeks of 3.75 to go up slowly and avoid side effects of doubling the dose. Or see how the next two weeks go and stay on 2.5 if it’s working. But it’s not a therapeutic dose, and if it slows down, I have a month of 2.5 before I can go up.

Sleepeazie · 14/03/2025 13:36

@TheSpoonyNavyReader it’s the little wins 🥰

MountainQueen · 14/03/2025 13:54

@FrozenFractal
My second pen will be 5, I'm planning to do first dose 3.75 and take it from there. Don't want to jump straight to 5 in case my body doesn't tolerate it very well.

GivememyowlbackSandra · 14/03/2025 13:58

Can I join in? I've literally just had my first dose. I went to a prescriber face to face and she gave me my first injection to show me how it is done. Very nervous but the final push was watching the rugby at the weekend and I weigh the same as some of the players (nothing wrong with their weight but they train hard to be build like that and my weight is mostly made up of bad food choices). Looking forward to the journey and fingers crossed for little side effects!!!
