Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

So had my first shot today, now feeling a little green.

Nothing too dramatic, just low level nausea like being pregnant (no I'm not 😅).

I've had under 1000 calories today and I feel stuffed! is this normal?

Just how I feel! Exactly like morning sickness. Weird. Not a very pleasant feeling. But stops me eating... hope it wears off! (Day 3 here)

Charlieart · 13/03/2025 19:52

1st week done. Just had my 2nd jab.

Weight lost 3lb 😃

Started to get a little food noise on Tuesday after a weekend of NO food cravings, amazing.

Also quit Diet Coke since Sunday-so had mega headache from that but good today.

Feeling more positive and in control than I have been in years!

RuthEvershedforPM · 13/03/2025 20:10

581 calories here and I know that’s silly and not enough but really don’t want anything due to this headache :(

will try more tomorrow

I picked up my first pen today! Am feeling less nervous and actually quite excited by it, this may finally be my way out of obesity! My lowest weight as an adult was when I met DH (to be fair I was only 20) and I was 8 stone 11 I think, maybe 8 stone 9. (I'm only 4.11/5 foot depending on tape measure!)

Now 20 years on and currently 14 stone 8 that's almost doubled. Pre covid I was 11-6 and happy with my size although that's still overweight but then I piled it on in lockdown and it's never come off. I've tried slimming world a few times but I don't have the headspace for it.

I'm planning to do my first injection next Fri as next week I've got a few important things on at work and I don't want side effects if I do it this weekend so next weekend it is! Picked up my pen today along with my weekly shop that was weird I think it was the most expensive trolley ever 😂 pen is in the salad draw if fridge so DC won't find it 😂

So deep breath..

SW / CW 14-8 BMI 39.8
GW saying 11-6 (will be BMI 32) for now then will review

Edited

OMG this sounds just like me! I'm starting next Sunday so we will be at the same stage! I was so thin when I met my husband 26 years ago i would love to be 10 stone 6 as that's the last time I remember feeling good about myself xx

Gosh this thread has become fast moving. I had a busy day yesterday and suddenly there’s a hundred new posts! Welcome all the newbies hope things are going well.

im on Week2 Day6 and still feeling positive overall but after having had zero hunger at all in week one I’ve been a little disappointed to have been getting hungry fairly regularly since day 3 of this week. I shouldn’t be letting it bother me since I’m still managing to not snack, I still just don’t fancy lots of things I could usually scarf down and I’m still managing to eat very small portions etc. but it was just so blissful last week not being hungry at all.

anyway my new scales ask me to weigh in daily which I’ve been doing but I’m only going to ‘announce’ my weight and losses once a week here on my jab day so that it’s a straight forward X amount lost in Y number of weeks.

also, I’ve been in a really good mood ever since starting MJ. I’m not an inherently grumpy person but I’ve been actively ‘UP’ the whole time which is quite remarkable especially as I would usually have PMT at this point in the month. No idea if it’s related but it’s a positive nonetheless!

by the way for everyone talking about prunes and dried apricots etc for treating the constipation. You are correct that they are good fixes but really yiu need to be fixing the cause which is what the list of fruits and veg I have is about. High fibre will keep things regular and prevent you getting backed up. As simple as an apple a day.

anyway hope everyone else is as happy and positive as I am today. Grin

Hi all, was wanting to start MJ for a few months and decided to try dieting on my own. Since October lost 7kg but plateaued and a few comments and general feeling honestly fat in the last couple of months I decided one evening now is the time. Then after the order was dispatched did my research and got scared omg what did I order lol.
this group (and others) gave me the confidence and last Sunday I did the first jab. Decided Sunday was best for me as I work from home mostly when I’m not travelling for and I’m a big time snacker especially during working hours (when no one is watching)!
sunday the effect started with the shot itself I actually felt it going inside and instant fullness bloatiness and nausea kicked in. Nausea was there constantly for the first two days with small burps. The mad thing is that the first two days I went to kitchen out of habit and didn’t fancy anything now on day 5 I only want something 2-3 times a day and that too only nutritious healthy light meals eg chicken and salad or like lunch today salmon mozzarella tomato and salad. Oddly enough I don’t want any carbs, when bread and cheese or crisps was my go to (several times a day). Today nausea only been there a couple of times (might because I drank less water today). Feel chilly mainly before I’m eating (low blood sugar?) the biggest surprise for me is that I stopped snoring day 1!!!! I’ve been snoring since I was born and haven’t snored since (DH and DC absolutely thrilled)! Unbelievable!! and wake up fresh with a lot more energy, although I’m more tired in evening. Reduced craving for my culprit wine as well which is reduced 80%. I got my period Tuesday so not counting this week as a real week as many of the symptoms I got I also get when on period although been stronger. Sunday jab 2 and weekly weigh in

175cm
SW: 115kg
GW: 75 kg

lastnightadjsavedmylifee · 13/03/2025 21:54

is anyone else wiped out with tiredness? I'm exhausted. My sleep is a mess and I'm wide awake 2am for no reason and even after a full 8 hours I'm desperately crawling to my bed for 7pm....

I’m having an apple a day, sometimes 3! and spinach etc but isn’t helping 🥹

Late to the party, but better late than never

W1D1 - 2.5mg - thigh
BMI S/C - 66
Goal - no number, just want to feel a bit better
Suppression - None
Side effects - None
Kcalorie - tracking but no specific limits/goals (for now) other than increased protein.

Have had the pen in the fridge for a week, but only drummed up the courage to start today.
Lots of anxiety about side effects - my gut is over sensitive as it is. Also some anxiety around 'what if even this doesn't work?'
Fortunately no anxiety about needles though, not that I even felt this one 🙂

TryingMJ · 14/03/2025 06:38

Quoting myself to add- goal weight I have it down as 10 stone as it’s a nice round figure but I might make my goal 9 stone 13lbs- just 1lb less and I would get such a kick out of seeing that 9 on the scales 🤣

Loveab123 · 14/03/2025 07:08

Well done everyone that's lost do far. My weigh in day isn't until Sunday but had a sneaky weigh in today and it's only showing 2 pounds down. TMI but I haven't went in days. I'm usually quite regular. WFH today so going to try a laxative/bran flakes/anything else I can find to help me go.

Overjiggly · 14/03/2025 07:08

Well done @TryingMJ and @Lordofmyflies can't believe you've lost a stone in 2 weeks amazing!

Hello to the newbies and well done to everyone who has weighed and lost.

Week 1 weigh in for me and 5lbs loss so pleased!

SW 18st 7
CW 18st 2
1st GW 15st 13lb

I'm feeling very positive about the jabs last week was so much easier to eat less and eat better!

However I have been here before week 1 after a diet with a big loss, I do think this is different but trying to stay focused.
I need to still be posting on this thread in 6 months and not have given up or slipped back to old ways.

Vvvvvvvxxxxxxx · 14/03/2025 07:11

Looking for some moral support , so thank you all in advance… My pen arrived Wednesday and today is Friday and I’m still scared to take it, I’m a worrier and overthinker !
What terrifies me most is the side effects, I can deal with a bit of nausea and headache etc as I have chronic migraines but I’m terrified I’m violently sick and in pain I can’t go to work.
I’m also terrified of what foods to eat, as been on too many TikTok’s of horror stories.
I don’t eat chicken (phobia) so protein can be issue and I’ve seen some people say beef or mince trigger of severe vomiting, although I generally eat a lot of vegetarian and I’m quite healthy. I do enjoy wine my guilty pleasure.

Current bmi 34… 5ft 6 …..15 stone 4lb and very unhappy and quite depressed with my weight .

Just remember everyone is different and it's often those that have the most extreme reactions that shout the most! I started 2 weeks ago - no side effects, no pain on injecting.
My top tip is get organised and eat clean. Preparation is key. For me, the jab has taken away the want to snack all the time..it's still there but I can control it. I have 3 sensible meals a day, trying to stay to a non-processed diet. I have overnight oats for breakfast with fruit, soup and a slice of rye for lunch or a wholegrain and chicken salad, and then dinner as per usual in the evening with the family,,chilli, spaghetti Bol, etc. Loads of water and a protein yogurt for a snack. Good luck.

GameOfJones · 14/03/2025 07:19

Remember @Vvvvvvvxxxxxxx that most of us are reporting minor side effects. I know some have been sick but the odds are in your favour ❤️.

Some amazing losses being reported here. I've stepped on the scales and am 6lbs down in week 1. I'm so pleased! I know I won't keep that rate of weight loss up but for now another 8lbs off and I'll be in the overweight BMI range rather than obese so I'm using that as my mini goal.

SW before my weight loss drive: 15st 1lb
SW on MJ: 14st
CW: 13st 8lbs

mumofmanydaughterofone · 14/03/2025 07:26

Weigh day!
SW 194 lb
Week 1: 191 lb
CW 189.2 lb
GW ultimate 150 but feels achievable 176 - still don't quite believe I can get to the lower

Does anyone know if the pen is limited in number of times you press it - I've got a 5mg pen ready but not sure if I might do click counting and do 3.75mg but can I dose / use the pen more than 4 times???

Vvvvvvvxxxxxxx · 14/03/2025 07:39

That’s very reassuring …that is the kind of food I’m hoping to continue eating (minus the chicken …. That’s another thread for phobias 🤣). So that gives me confidence of what to eat . To be honest I think I’ll delete TikTok I know it’s not the best place for sensible advise … it’s full of the drama stories. Think this will be my go to place for info .
Apologies one more question …..day of injections, I’m thinking today , weekends are my bad time for overindulging , I’m usually good mon to thur then it all goes wrong….and any advice on morning or evening to take it . Can you have say one glass of wine with a meal ? Or is it best advised to stay clear.

thanks again for all who came back , much appreciated I was even thinking of cutting my losses and not doing it but that’s given me reassurance .

GameOfJones · 14/03/2025 07:49

@mumofmanydaughterofone I think the pen locks after your 4th dose. Apparently you can give it a very hard twist to administer a 5th dose which I am planning on trying if enough liquid left as it will still be under the 30 days expiry date if I inject on day 0, 7, 14, 21 and 28.

@Vvvvvvvxxxxxxx I inject on a Saturday, I jabbed in the morning last week and didn't feel any effects until the Sunday but some people do it before bed to sleep off side effects if they are going to have them. I think it's personal preference. I've still been able to have the odd alcoholic drink and not felt any worse for it but I've stuck to slimline G&Ts as they are lower calorie.

Paulahoust · 14/03/2025 07:54

Hi all where does everyone jab? Stomach, thigh or somewhere else?

Stomach. Didn't feel a thing.

Just have to get used to holding the pen still and pushing the end down slowly.

When I had a C-Section I used to dread doing the injections afterwards, so was a bit nervous about this but I did actually feel nothing! so easy.

Anyone who is nervous, don't be it's really easy.

I'm a Sunday weigher too!!

It's never just 2lb. 2lb is great. That's almost a kilo. Every loss is a win no matter how small.

MountainQueen · 14/03/2025 08:18

I do my jabs in stomach. That way I'm definitely not going to hit the muscle as it's just fat there 😂
