Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

Okay, I took the plunge and ordered through Juniper. Package arrived today. Pen is in the fridge. I'm going to start tomorrow and post SW and TW.

Any tips for the first time injecting?

My main advice is not to worry about it! I really built it up in my head and was very nervous before I injected but it was completely fine. I found a couple of useful videos on YouTube that walk you through the process step by step that I found useful to watch just before I did it. You hardly feel anything at all, it felt like a tiny pinprick for me.

Day 3 for me, and I'm shocked how suppressed my appetite is. I feel hungry around the usual times, but the second I start to eat, i feel full. Surely that's not normal!

I had that on Day 2 and into Day 3 but it has lessened as I've gone through the week. I injected on Saturday morning and last night's dinner was the first meal I had finished so I think suppression is wearing off a bit for me. Just focus on small, nutritious meals. I've found protein shakes useful if I haven't felt like having a meal. I'm drinking one right now.

Hi please could I ask does most take it first thing or at night? I have ordered and plan to start at some point this week when I pluck up the courage I’m just so scared of side effects and not wanting to let anyone know I’m doing this. X

I take early morning, only on week 2, third jab tomorrow, no side effects apart from headaches

SharpOpalNewt · 12/03/2025 16:12

I definitely get hungry but am soon sated with a 400 calorie meal. Less than that in the morning.

Yes, I was nervous and am usually crap with written instructions and diagrams, but found it all straightforward. And pain free.

CatsChin · 12/03/2025 16:27

I'm on day 2 - don't feel appetite suppression as such but more that I just feel a bit sickly and don't want to eat. If I'm honest I don't like it much!

Thank you for sharing. I'm interested to know though, if people are getting hungrier towards end of week, is it not possible they will binge eat? If this is common then it's a worry as my pattern before mounjaro was being healthy in the week And binge eating weekends!

Perhaps you could move your injection round so that the effect is stronger at the weekend and weaker in the week when you are less likely to binge.

I was definately hungrier on Monday and Tuesday before I injected tuesday night

Overjiggly · 12/03/2025 19:36

Im on day 5 and I've been pretty hungry today. That being said I still haven't touched crisps/chocolate/snacks at all because I haven't wanted it despite being hungry. I've been satisfied with my meals and a yoghurt instead.

Last night DH was hoovering up kitkats watching the football and i didn't want one at all if anything the rustling and chomping annoyed me!

So based on this week I really hope the binge of biscuits/Crisps is a thing of the past. It's quite marvellous and I'm not sure I really still believe it even though I'm experiencing it 😀

HuskyNew · 12/03/2025 19:42

@28Spring we are date buddies

After a delay with medexpress I finally got my pen and injected just now.

Scared and excited!

Lollzi86 · 12/03/2025 19:47

W2 day 3 and I will say I have felt hungrier than I did last week on day 3 but also haven’t had the inclination to snack on rubbish, even with a 4am start to the day that is still going 😂 this is a minor miracle in itself! I’ve also only had 2 caffeine drinks today again a miracle as usually on one of my 16 hour work days I would be downing the caffeine! So if I’m hungrier then as long as I don’t feel the need to eat rubbish I’m ok with it. Having a bit more fruit or veg won’t harm! Can anyone recommend where to buy prune juice? TMI but only been 3 times in ten days so I’m fearful that my nightmare of constipation is coming true!

Yes I think people who binge more at weekends best having the injection Thurs/friday. I tend to be better at weekends so am sticking with a Monday for now!

Agreed! And people eating crisps is suddenly highly annoying plus strong flavours making me gag!

RuthEvershedforPM · 12/03/2025 19:53

Just injected first dose and yes, a bit nervous 😬

ShineyGreen · 12/03/2025 19:54

I didn’t think my appetite was really that suppressed but I’ve realised that I get satisfaction from what’s on my plate. I was hungry for dinner just now and was sure that I was going to need more than the coleslaw/ salad/ chilli chicken I had dished up- but it was plenty and I was actually satisfied with what I’d eaten. That’s quite a revelation for me. I am not great at interpreting my body’s needs and to know that I had eaten “enough” is totally new.

dancemom · 12/03/2025 19:58

Anyone started thinking about where to buy their next pen from? I'd rather benefit from a discount than stick with the same supplier

Dee70 · 12/03/2025 20:02

Just started today and sitting here waiting for something to feel different, it doesn’t ha, but hoping tomorrow will be a new start and I’m enjoying reading all the posts of the new starters like myself good luck everyone x

I have mine on a Saturday. It is a risk as we usually have a takeaway Friday night. I ate much less than usual even though I wasn't feeling much suppression by then.

Overhaul54 · 12/03/2025 20:11

@dancemom snap!. Both feeling humgrier and changing providers.
I'm only classed as high end overweight so it was a pain getting the jab from photos first te round..I look quite in proportion, until you see me naked and realise I am definitely meant to.be two sizes smaller. Will the next provider carry on where Medi Express stopped?

Yes. I've ordered my second pen from the same supplier (Zava) as the discount was good but then I'm moving to Oushk and will probably stay with them in anticipation of going on their maintenance plan.

HopeIt · 12/03/2025 21:14

Hello all, just started on this journey too. First injection Monday am - god that was scary but have since found a couple of groups like this which have made it a bitmore’norm’. First day definitely felt suppression and didn’t eat much, second day ate three meals ( small but healthy) was still feeling suppression. Today had some scrambled egg for breakfast then a salad at lunch and then tonight chicken noodle soup ( homemade and healthy) I didn’t! but I think I could easily have eaten more than one portion and could have eaten a roll with it, just a bit worried that food suppression is already waining, feels different from yesterday. Oh well let’s see what happens- still haven’t needed a single snack other than a clementine yesterday 😅

GameOfJones · 12/03/2025 21:35

@Lollzi86 I bought this prune juice and it worked almost a little too well!

I got it in Tesco but looks like Waitrose and Holland and Barrett also stock it.

Thank you! I’ll go on the hunt tomorrow we have a Tesco and a Waitrose not too far! Might even walk to get in some more steps 😇😂😂😂😂

MrsAlwaysRight · 12/03/2025 21:51

Has anyone got really dry skin? My hands are so sore and cracked 😞 Suppression has been really good despite issue with 2nd injection so I assume a reasonable amount went in. I'm not particularly feeling hungry or thirsty so think I'm not drinking enough.

TripleRocks · 12/03/2025 22:19

I took my first dose today! I did it right after it arrived before I had chance to overthink it and change my mind.

I found it so nerve wracking, although entirely pain free. I've been very paranoid over every twinge and sensation since, convinced it's some kind of side effect!

Overall I'm excited to be underway and DH is being super supportive. Just hope it works. I think the fact of spending the money alone will be an incentive to eat less if nothing else.
