Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

@CatsChin I’m thinking of doing this! I read some people had big effects on 1.75mg and stayed on that for months.. I also normally react strong to things (I’m hoping this is actually true this time round for this!!) but in case I have some horrid effects I was going to do 1.75mg and then 2.5mg if all okay the week after..do you feel anything yet? X

I'm not sure if I feel anything TBH! It's been 24 hours. I didn't fancy alcohol last night and didn't eat much yesterday but that was partly nerves. Mind you, if it puts me off alcohol that would probably be a massive step towards weight loss...! I think I need a few days to get over my nerves about the whole thing.

One week down and what I’ve learned so far:

  1. i can eat what I want, but what I want has changed. I don’t want sugary, carb laden food. I want fruit and veg most of the time.
  2. it’s hard to eat that much protein
  3. water is no longer optional
  4. injecting before bed, whilst makes for a restless night due to side effects, means I wake up with food suppression and feeling good
  5. That things can be different, and at some point in the near future I will be slimmer.

im looking forward to the week ahead, i think its going to be a good one.

I’d agree with your points @tryingtobesogood. I’m particularly struggling with how to eat so much protein and I’m not even calorie counting at this point (I’m just cutting out mindless snacking) so I don’t know how others are managing it unless they load upon protein powder.

If anyone on the thread is currently managing to eat 100g or more of protein a day, can you give a typical day of your diet please?

Rose785 · 12/03/2025 10:41

Disappointingly I have had an email to confirm my order is delayed :( I ordered from MedExpress on Monday and waiting to dispatch. Has anyone else had this issue?
Where do you recommend ordering from?

Cantwaitforsunshine · 12/03/2025 11:18

Is anybody else feeling soooooo tired? I’m on my second jab, taking my third on Friday. I’m just about ok during the day but come 7pmish I’m ready to sleep and feeling exhausted.

i also noticed on my first week the effects wore off after 5 days, on the second dose they wore off after 4 days. I thought if anything it would be the other way round?

I manage about 100g protein on a typical day - this was the case before starting MJ because I do a lot of training so I've always been conscious of it. My problem was all the carbs I ate/drank around it, so I'm trying to continue with the protein side of it, but cut out the other stuff around it.

Breakfast - 100g greek yoghurt (11g protein), 25g high protein granola (6g protein) & some blueberries/strawberries or a Fuel breakfast drink (15g protein)
Lunch - High protein wrap containing 70g roast chicken breast & 20g spinach (about 30g protein)
Dinner - Chicken/tuna/beef in a light sauce of some sort (curry/chilli/pasta) with veg (spinach/asparagus/brocolli/mushrooms/peppers etc) and very small amount of rice/pasta - again would use about 70g chicken breast or a tin of tuna (about 35g protein)
Snacks - 2 x babybel light (12g protein)

If I've exercised then I'll have a fuel or u-fit protein shake or similar - which adds another 15-20g protein.

This is getting me to about 100-120g protein a day. I roast two chickens at the start of the week and use the meat through the week for various meals.

SmallSoupcon · 12/03/2025 11:33

Day 2, woke at 4am with a splitting headache and nausea. Was sick about an hour ago, still have the headache. Haven't been able to eat anything. Not exactly a positive start...

Rose785 · 12/03/2025 11:40

@seasidehunter
this looks like a very healthy diet, thanks for sharing. Do you calorie count also? If so how many calories is this high protein diet? Thanks!

I've tracked something similar to this across the last couple of days in MFP and it came in about 1400-1500.

Twinsandsome · 12/03/2025 12:05

Hi please could I ask does most take it first thing or at night? I have ordered and plan to start at some point this week when I pluck up the courage I’m just so scared of side effects and not wanting to let anyone know I’m doing this. X

Justformounjaro · 12/03/2025 12:16

That’s really helpful @seasidehunter I’ve realised that one of the main reasons I’m finding it difficult is I generally only have 2 meals a day so I’m missing a third opportunity for extra protein doh! 🤦‍♀️

I have found a range of 20g protein yoghurts in Lidl that I really like so maybe I need to add one of those in with some cheese as my snacks to compensate. We had a chicken that I’ve stripped to add to soup but maybe I need to make roast chicken specifically to snack on.

I did my first one in the morning, and had some side effects, mostly burping, horrible burps.

I did my second before bed and woke a couple of times feeling nauseous but not that bad. I’m going to stick with the night jab, because it gives me that extra time for things to settle before work.

I'm thinking a 'smaller portions but more frequent', approach could be key to getting the protein in. I often see this touted in the fitness forums as general advice for keeping protein levels high. So, perhaps smaller protein dense meals and a couple of high protein snacks in between meals (or maybe even 4-5 'mini meals'?) would work better. If you've only got a couple of meals then it means you need to find 50g+ each meal - which is a big ask when you're likely to get full quickly. Even if you create a meal with that much protein you might find you can't eat it all in one go.

Flaitch · 12/03/2025 13:03

@Cantwaitforsunshine I took my 2nd jab yesterday and I feel like I could go to bed now 😂 my food noise and suppression is virtually nil as well

GameOfJones · 12/03/2025 13:06

I am struggling a bit with mild constipation today and feeling more backed up than usual (sorry for TMI). I've just downed a glass of prune juice in the hope that will sort me out. I take psyllium husks for fibre supplements anyway and had beans on wholemeal toast for dinner last night but I may need to think more about preventive measures as I absolutely dread being constipated.

soupforbrains · 12/03/2025 13:52

@Twinsandsome I do it first thing because that is the point in the day when my system is most empty. The first week i did it in the evening and had a LOT of side effects for the first 24-36 hours. After doing it first thing I've had far fewer side effects.

@GameOfJones constipation is probably the very most common side effect. because of the way they slow down your system and the fact that food intake is significantly decreased. Advice is to focus on High fibre foods. to keep things moving through even when intake is small. I've followed this since I started and haven't experienced any issues at all and have been totally regular. High Fibre fruits include apples, raspberries, avocado and veg include carrots, peas, lentils, broccoli. So it's not too hard to include plenty.

In other news having not experienced any hunger at all during week 1 until half way through day 7; I'm in week two now and felt some slight peckishness yesterday (day 4) but today (day 5) i'm absolutely ravenous. Which is a little disappointing.

On the flip side my new ultra accurate scales are great and i'm still losing weight at a pretty rapid rate so all is well really. I'm just sad to not be floating in the blissful zero hunger cloud anymore.

GinNphonics · 12/03/2025 13:59

Day 3 for me, and I'm shocked how suppressed my appetite is. I feel hungry around the usual times, but the second I start to eat, i feel full. Surely that's not normal!

If you were to look at my internet search history just now, it’s just full of nutritional information searches and DP is wondering why we suddenly had a lentil based meal the other night (because I still haven’t told him). I’d not thought of looking at fitness forums for diet advice but it absolutely makes sense.

@soupforbrains It would appear that I have also become obsessed by my scales (Vitafit) and the data they produce. Yesterday I found the app has a way of comparing all the metrics of two specific dates on one table which will be even more motivating as time goes on.

ShineyGreen · 12/03/2025 14:24

Day 5 of week 2 here and I am experiencing a little bit of appetite suppression, not loads though. Not much all week. But I am absolutely freezing and really tired! Last week I didn't get many symptoms towards the end of the week either. Most odd, I thought they would have happened earlier in the week if I was going to get them.

I have decided to weigh myself daily because I am bloody impatient and I like the stats, will be nice to see a few of the next kg down appearing bit by bit. I know it fluctuates but don't tend to get disheartened by the odd blip.

For those using the Eufy scales, is there an app? I really do love the stats and they are coming up on my Amazon as being £27.99 at the mo so might make a purchase :)

Shalalalaboomboom · 12/03/2025 14:31

Okay, I took the plunge and ordered through Juniper. Package arrived today. Pen is in the fridge. I'm going to start tomorrow and post SW and TW.

Any tips for the first time injecting?

I'm not gonna lie, it's been a nightmare. No I didn't have processed food or fizzy drinks. For dinner last night I had a sea bass fillet with a small portion of rice and veg. If it's not TMI, most of the veg and rice came back up today, undigested, which is gross but also interesting as to what's going on inside.
I can't afford to be wiped out every week like this, so really hoping it was a one off reaction!

Oh noooo, hope it’s just a glitch, I’m not looking forward to the side effects 😬

dancemom · 12/03/2025 15:28

Week 2 day 4 and I've felt a few twangs of hunger a few times today. Last week I never felt it once.

However I've been eating incredibly minimally. Breakfast has been a very small portion of yogurt and granola and fruit. Lunch has been 2 egg whites and three slices of chicken. Dinner last night was 2 spring rolls. Zero snacks, crisps, biscuits, chocolate for ten days now.

So I guess it's to be expected.

Will be interesting to see how the week progresses.

GameOfJones · 12/03/2025 15:57

Thanks @soupforbrains! I'm pleased to say that small glass of prune juice worked a treat! 😱 If anyone experiences similar I'd definitely recommend it as a natural constipation remedy. I hear kiwis, dried apricots and chia seeds are also good.
