Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

Hi everyone, just catching up on all the messages. Hi to all the new joiners, so nice to have so many of us along for the ride! Not much new going on here, I’m on day 3 of week 2 and it’s feeling much like week 1- I feel full and at times a little bloated/indigestion/almost heartburn but not unbearable (not like the pregnancy heartburn I’ve had). I’m also on my period which I think is one thing that affected my weight going up over the weekend. As of this morning I’m back to my Friday morning weekly weigh in weight, so hope to lose a couple of pounds over this week. I’m averaging around 1100 to 1200 calories a day. For example today I had a protein yoghurt for breakfast (I don’t have it early, I’m not hungry first thing, I have it around 10am) then for lunch a protein bagel thin with cheese and salad and a packet of quavers, snack of a pear and a light babybel and then for tea a Higgidy spinach feta and pine nut pie (I’m vegetarian) which is 457 calories for the pie, with peas and sweetcorn and a sweet treat of a mini malteaser bunny.

Any advice for the horrible burps? I take omeprazole and I'm still getting them pretty badly. I work next to a pharmacy so can grab something tomorrow morning just not sure what's best?

TripleRocks · 10/03/2025 20:54

I've been accepted for my prescription today 👍

Darcy86 · 10/03/2025 21:15

I'm 24h in and wouldn't say I've had suppression yet. I could probably say there's been a slight dim in the food noise and hunger levels but I've not felt hugely full after eating and could probably have eaten more! I know it's early days but just hoping this will eventually work for me, it's surprising seeing that some people have felt significant effects almost immediately. Having said that my husband ordered a pizza tonight and I wasn't remotely bothered about it. That is quite unusual!

I had terrible burps the first few days, really horrible. Someone recommended actimil and the pharmacy suggests ginger based drinks. I drank lots of water and took gaviston. It helped a bit.

I can’t see me eating eggs any time soon

MJones90 · 10/03/2025 21:42

@TripleRocks so have I! It’s due to be delivered Thursday. What about you? I’ve been reading so many posts and forums building into this it feels surreal. And I’m still convinced it’s too good to be true and my willpower will overpower it somehow! x

Avoid red meat, onion and garlic. Have an actimel a day. So far so good on that front for me and I was worried as I suffer from heartburn pretty bad usually!

TripleRocks · 10/03/2025 21:52

@MJones90 it's supposed to be dispatched tomorrow. Not sure what to think, I've slightly freaked myself out watching the info video about how the injection pen works 😳

Reassured by everyone saying it's not at all painful.

Can't wait to get started. I've been trying to watch what I'm eating in preparation, but still overeat/snacked this afternoon... I clearly need some help as I'm not getting anywhere on willpower alone.

Lollzi86 · 10/03/2025 21:52

Fatmumslim01 · 10/03/2025 16:04

My orders been approved finally! But now I'm having second thoughts. So scared of the side effects especially if they happen at work. Also worried about things like pancreatitis. Uurgh

I haven’t had any side effects and lots of other people don’t either. If you are careful what you eat you should be okay RE tummy problems etc. Gallbladder problems are a risk but it could happen on any diet where you lose weight quick. I think as long as you’ve answered the questions online honestly you should be ok but obvs if any averse reaction seek medical help asap. But it’s rare! Xxx

MJones90 · 10/03/2025 22:01

@TripleRocks yep exactly the same here. I just don’t have it in me anymore it seems. No willpower and spiralled! Started watching how to do the ‘priming’ thing. The needle does look tinyyyy thankfully, I had to have the 6 weeks of anti D after second baby and had to make my partner do them each day! Wimp!

starting at just over 14st YIKES

Justformounjaro · 10/03/2025 22:10

@MJones90 I’m the biggest wimp with needles (I’ve had a number of episodes where I’ve come over all faint if I see myself being injected so I have to look away) but I managed! The needle is only a tiny pinprick. You can do it 😊

mounjstarter · 10/03/2025 22:35

Another nervous starter here! I have been approved, so first batch is on its way. My BMI is 28 but I recent blood tests showed I have high cholesterol and am prediabetic. I'm hoping this will help me develop an aversion to pastries and cakes. All my weight is round the middle which is not good. Also menopause has done its job on my belly.
When is the best time of week to start? Should you plan a quiet day or two in case of feeling rough at first?

Tranquilitybaby · 10/03/2025 22:46

Week 1 weigh in today, 4.6 lbs down and that’s with drinking quite a bit of alcohol at a friends party on Saturday, which I never normally do.

has anyone developed mouth ulcers as a side effect? I literally haven’t had an ulcer since I was a young child, but all of a sudden tonight it feels like up getting one on the base of my mouth.

soupforbrains · 11/03/2025 00:32

So, took week 2 dose on Saturday. Just like last week I then had a churning stomach all afternoon and was sick in the night.

In fairness, this week was not as bad as last week. AND I'm pretty sure it was my fault.

I'm not sure how any of you are eating normal meals though. As I'm basically now sure that if I eat 'too much' at once that is what triggers the vomiting. Now let me be clear that I don't really mean too much. I mean that MY body on MJ clearly CANT cope with food sitting in the stomach for long. So on Sunday, when I forgot to eat breakfast and then got distracted by the lovely weather and took the dog for a 4 hour walk and got home at 3pm and realised I hadn't eaten anything all day. Ate my 3 planned snacks in 1 sitting. This constituted half a banana and 1 tbsp of fat free yoghurt, 50g of rice with half a grilled chicken breast and sweetcorn. And 7 grapes. All of these are foods I have routinely eaten and not had problems with. So I think I just need to be more disciplined at eating my micro-meals at 3 hour intervals.

There is one alternative, which is that I'm reacting to alcohol. Last Sunday I had 1 glass of white wine and yesterday I had 1 single gin&tonic.

I know other people don't have any problem with alcohol though so I'm going with the food 'bulk'theory for now.

In more positive news I finally junked my crappy inconsistent scales and bought the ones I'd seen reviewed as the most accurate/consistent on the market. Which obviously meant I weighed myself today when I was setting them up. Even though it's not weigh day. And I've lost another 4lb. So I'm 10lb down in 10 days!

So after me saying I ate a few small meals yesterday on day 2. I had the horrendous burps late at night (after taking omeprazole too). It was making me feel extremely sick. I couldn't sleep. Finally around 1am I decided to go to the bathroom and throw up. I know this is disgusting but what I had for lunch hours and hours before came up nearly in full bits. So it must have been lying in my stomach. Burps stopped and managed to get to sleep. I only ate 1000 calories yesterday and all healthy so not sure what to do today!

IngoGreen · 11/03/2025 07:44

Hi all, have decided to have a go, will be ordering today. I’m 13st 5 at 5ft 4 and now at age 56 my old strategies of intermittent fasting and a bit of exercise just aren’t holding off the weight gain any more. Happy to join you all in the ups and downs.

cmh18 · 11/03/2025 08:24

Today is week 1 day 3. A few side effects hit during the night (acid indigestion and a bit of an upset tummy) but I've woken up feeling better.
Weighed myself this morning 3lb down, I have been doing lots of steps as well.

SW 12st 5lb
CW 12st 2lb

Sleepeazie · 11/03/2025 08:29

I’m week 2 day 3 today.

Down around half a pound so far this week. Total lost so far 4.9 pounds.

I was initially quite disappointed, but then I remembered how I literally cannot lose weight ordinarily and that this loss is a miracle all on its own!

I’ve had a coulple of days with minor ‘up fluctuations’ but it’s overall consistently reducing.

I’ve also had no side effects worth mentioning.

I almost didn’t do my 2nd jab on the day it was due as the food noise was still sooo quiet on day 7.

These are all wins.

I'm managing to eat anything I want, at a small portion size (large side plate). I’m actually not cutting my calories beyond the 500 under TDEE a day either. I’m trying to behave, as I will when I come off the jabs.

so overall feeling quite positive.

The l biggest change has been the lack of distracting thoughts and quietness in my brain, in general.

soupforbrains · 11/03/2025 08:54

@Loveab123 urgh. It's awful isnt it. It's only happened to me on the night after jab day both weeks so I'm not sure if that's something to do with it?

And yes stuff does sit in your stomach for a really long time. Because the primary thing one of the hormones acts on is slowing down your digestive system. It's why a lot of people get constipated.

If you're already eating small meals maybe try to focus on high fibre foods to keep things moving through? That's what I've been doing. And it's good in general except on the days when I forgot and ate more in one sitting.

GameOfJones · 11/03/2025 09:19

It does seem very variable. My side effects have been minimal so far. Tired on the evening of the jab day then a slight headache and a bit of heartburn at one point yesterday (day 3).

I don't feel that surpression is as high today as it was yesterday but haven't tried eating yet so I will see how I feel at lunchtime. I'm trying to use this time for training myself into better habits for when I stop the jabs. So keeping to my intermittent fasting, having a sensible lunch and a smaller portion of our usual dinners so I'm still eating with the family and limiting snacks.

I had a sneaky peek at the scales this morning and things are looking positive but I'll wait until Friday for my official weekly weigh in.

RuthEvershedforPM · 11/03/2025 09:48

Can I please hop in?

Just signed up to Voy - waiting for approval. 82.6 kg - target 54 (although it’s been a VERY long time since I was there) 67 perhaps more realistic as that would be a healthy BMI

yikesanotherbooboo · 11/03/2025 09:52

Vague nausea today tempered with delight at week 1 weight loss
SW 84 kg
CW 81.7
GW 62

I have eaten normal evening meals and had some alcohol but no snacking , a small lunch and medium evening portion. I am not very active and am aiming for 800-1200 cals daily

northernlight20 · 11/03/2025 10:05

Day 7 today, weight loss of 3lb and feeling very hungry. Very disappointed with only 3lb loss, but hopefully week 2 is better

3 pounds is still really good! I've heard gradual is better for maintaining it when you stop mounjaro. Well done
