Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

@Loveab123 I can still eat but it's like a switch has flicked in my brain and I'm just not bothered about food at all. It's absolutely mind blowing for me. I'm eating because I know that I need to but just made myself greek yoghurt with raspberries, walnuts and date syrup for lunch and I could only eat half of it. I think protein shakes are a good idea when feeling like this.

I've decided to lean into it whilst I'm feeling the appetite surpression as I know it could wear off later in the week. But to focus on making sure that I have something to keep me going and that what I do eat is nutritionally decent.

Hello - I lost 3.7 pounds in first week which feels like a lot. Less sick with second jab of 2.5 but also tired and have a headache. Start of week after second injection don't enjoy food as much. I find that sad as good food such a big part of my life. Also tired already of huge bowls of Greek yogurt and fruit and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Finding it hard to cook for kids as don't want any of our food! Overall a bit moaney today. Could eat 600 calories a day but will mindfully for for 1000 so I don't turn gaunt. I am 11.4 at the moment and aiming for 9 12

Edited

This is really too few calories. Just eat good good but less! If you eat so little and “diet food” you won’t be able to sustain this after Mj

plus you’re bound to feel rubbish

Oh that's good to know. It took me an hour to finish my salad, where I would normally scoff my lunch in 5 seconds, then look for a snack!

So far I'm feeling satisfied and no need to snack, this is where I go very wrong.

Hopefully it's a quick week to see the results!

I second this. I didn’t eat all day last Friday, I felt terrible by the end of the day. I now eat small portions of tasty healthy food.

FrozenFractal · 10/03/2025 14:24

Hmm.. jab day was Saturday and the weekend was great, I ate but much less than usual, no problem with not snacking.

Today I. Am. Hungry! I thought the suppression would be stronger or at least continue. Had a small breakfast and lunch, both full of protein. I'm definitely relying on willpower and the memory of £100 leaving bank account today..

Do people recommend protein shakes if you're having side effects? Starting to worry a bit over what I'll actually eat!

Yes I do, if you feel off they’re a good way of getting calories and mostly important protein in. I add collagen and some fresh fruit to mine too

Beachy77 · 10/03/2025 15:13

Can anyone recommend any vegan/dairy free protein drinks? Earlier on I was at work (I’m in client appointments) and didn’t have my usual snack between 11 and 11.30 and then forgot about lunch as I was chatting to a colleague (wtf???) until I felt a bit light headed.

Popped into Tesco but all bar one type (£3.50!) was made with milk. I’m lactose intolerant (and veggie so not loads of easy protein sources) so ended up trying a vegan friendly protein bar which wasn’t great. Any recommendations gratefully accepted.

MountainQueen · 10/03/2025 15:25

@Beachy77
I buy plant protein powder from amazon. Mix with water in the shaker and it's good to go.

My orders been approved finally! But now I'm having second thoughts. So scared of the side effects especially if they happen at work. Also worried about things like pancreatitis. Uurgh

Beachy77 · 10/03/2025 16:29

Thank you! I will give it a go.

AmusedRoseCrow · 10/03/2025 17:03

Day 1 post jab for me (took at 10pm for first time)

This morning had a mild wave of nausea but was brief. I don’t normally feel hungry so tend not to eat breakfast in morning anyway.

No obvious side effects and can feel the suppression now - managed to have yoghurt and fruit and a ham roll for lunch. Snacking has disappeared and I felt really full after a coffee at 3ish. I do feel a tiny bit like I almost have indigestion but that’s about it. I feel like I keep testing myself to see if I feel hungry and I went to the kitchen out of pure habit and boredom a few times but didn’t actually feel hungry. Can’t decide if it’s placebo effect or it’s real 🤣

have a bit of worry of is this real? Will it actually work for me but just going to take it day by day. What kind of exercise is everyone doing? ❤️

HailMary1988 · 10/03/2025 17:33

I've read this thread from the start and it's great to see the losses so far. I had my second dose last night and lost 3lbs in the first week. No side effects and I certainly haven't struggled to eat. For a big girl I actually love exercising so I'm hoping that I still have the energy to do this. I know I need to increase the amount of weights I do though.

Only my husband knows I'm taking it. My family would see it a failure that I can't control my weight and see it as a lot of money to spend on a moral failing.

I'm 47 and 5ft7

SW 17st3
CW 17st

I'm not sure what my target weight is. First of all I want to get into the overweight, not obese, category. That would be 13st9.

After that I'll reassess. Things I am looking forward to are:

  • Not dreading summer! Being able to wear so much more of my wardrobe and buying things because I like them. Rather than buying things because they fit and cover the bad bits.
  • Feeling confident and looking fabulous at my son's graduation. This is late October so I feel I have given myself plenty of time.
  • Smaller boobs. I've always been "blessed" in that department, but really they just get in the way, cause pain and mean bras are expensive. Often I hate the way my clothes look because of the size of them.
tryingtobesogood · 10/03/2025 18:09

@HailMary1988 i am exactly the same. The boobs are a major pain and it’s the part of me I want to shrink the most. Like you im
looking forward to the summer and being a more normal chest size.

Sourdough123 · 10/03/2025 19:05

Hello, I started on Saturday too. The weekend went well but I am feeling hungry this evening! Didn't sleep well last night which is probably contributing.

SW - 94kg. I'm 5ft 6.
GW - 66kg.

Not going to weigh myself before Saturday so not sure what my CW is, but desperately hoping this works for me and I have a good (but sustainable) loss in week 1.

I think I put on a lot of weight during the pandemic, and I have always been a binge/emotional eater. Coming into perimenopause means that the binge weight doesn't come off the way it did when I was younger.

I'm reasonably active and am starting couch to 5km again, so hope to build some healthy habits and break the binge habit...

I want to be able to feel comfortable in my clothes again, not dread summer and be able to meet up with old friends without dreading the fact I have put on about 4 stone since last seeing them!

Lollzi86 · 10/03/2025 12:16

First Weigh day today and lost 8 pounds which is fantastic but I feel absolutely dreadful ! Full of cold/flu so not connected to the jab but just poor timing 😭. Will jab later this afternoon when I feel a bit more awake and up to it! Xx

Fab loss but sorry you’re feeling poorly xx

Loveab123 · 10/03/2025 12:35

Is everyone still able to eat? Even if it's a little? I'm not overly hungry but I have a toddler and work full time so know myself I need food for energy. Day 2 and I've managed a protein shake for breakfast, now sitting picking away at a tuna salad. I'm reading alot of posts saying they've not eaten or forgotten to eat the days just after injecting. I'm happy for a gradual loss anyway but just curious

I can still eat. I don’t feel hungry but I can eat at mealtimes. I don’t seem to get full but I’m satisfied with a much smaller portion if that makes sense?!

TheBossOfMe · 10/03/2025 19:13

Day 2 and approaching dinner time - no side effects but the suppression effect has been almost immediate for me. I had a protein based lunch, and am still feeling really full. I’m usually really hungry whilst prepping dinner but not at all tonight. Fingers crossed that continues.

Also not thirsty though so have to keep reminding myself to drink water.

Overhaul54 · 10/03/2025 19:13

One of the things I’m finding is that I am desperately wanting to smoke.
My go to is eating or drinking wine, neither of which I have the same inclination to do.
I was ok last week but guess the novelty of being “good” has worn off already.

I do 2 yoga classes and a Pilates class every week. I usually also do a couple of long walks. Sometimes also a swim or virtual spinning class. I was worried mj would reduce my energy but luckily this hasn’t been the case.

TheBossOfMe · 10/03/2025 19:30

@AmusedRoseCrow I’m aiming to keep my exercise routine up but if I have to sacrifice some things eg speed or distance on runs, that’s fine. So two running sessions a week, one peloton spin and two weights sessions. Lack of exercise hasn’t been my issue with weight gain, it’s been food consumption. I think for me it’s important to try and keep the exercise up because it’s as much about mental health as physical health. And if I can’t run and have to replace the runs with walks that’s fine. It’s about moving and being out and about. Doing something is better than doing nothing just because I don’t have as much energy.

Tereseta · 10/03/2025 19:46

OK I am on day three of first jab and I feel hungry! I have been on slimming world prior for a couple of weeks now issues, took the jab and am now hungry from teatime onwards 🙃 everyone else is saying from day 1 suppressed appetite and I am.the opposite 😭

I am on day 2 and was a little hungry tonight. Worked out I had only eaten 800 calories though so probably for the best. I had half a pouch of a protein yoghurt and fruit and that's me okay again. I am quite happy it hasn't completed suppressed my appetite as I like to eat with my little girl at meal times but do wonder why I am able to eat when others can't!
