Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

Had my first jab yesterday evening and woke up with supression. Kept thinking... Is this all in my head? Had a slice of toast and a cup of tea for breakfast and went in the garden. Usually hungry at 10.30am but at 1pm came in for another cup of tea, a very small slice of cake (id have usually had the cake for breakfast) and a couple of pre made pancakes that needed using up. Popped the rest of the pancakes in the fridge and went back outside.

Came back in again at 4.30pm after grafting all afternoon. Id have usually had some snack to tide me over. It's nearly 18.30, I have prepped dinner, cooked the dog his dinner (that's a whole other story) and had a shower. I am still not hungry. I know I need to eat because I need refueling but I couldnt care less that there are crisps, chocolate, the rest of my cake all sitting in the cupboard. This is revolutionary!

I do however have the most god awful shoulder/neck/rib/jaw pain. I feel bruised all over. Woke up like this so it's not working in the garden that's done it. Interestingly, working out there hasn't been hindered by it either, I can only feeling it when there is pressure on the area. But the pain when DH cuddles me is unreal. I've just had him cover me in deep heat that's helped somewhat but it was agony while he rubbed it in. Hope this fades quickly but a small price to pay in the long run.

This sounds like trapped wind possibly? When I had it after a c section it was in my shoulder and neck, it was really painful. Do you have any peppermint tea or capsules?

Joining this thread as I’ve just taken my first dose, I was really worried about the injection but then kinda thought ‘was that it’ 🤣

Guess I’ll see how I feel tomorrow! 4 stone to lose.

Can I join please. First jab this morning, trying to watch what I eat because I know this can affect the side effects. My mum made us a Sunday roast then panicked about the beef. I only had 2 slices, a Yorkshire pudding, veg and 1 potato croquette. I wouldn't say I am not hungry, just more nervous about side effects!

When does hunger suppression usually kick in? Thanks.

I did my first jab 9am yesterday morning and would say suppression in some form kicked in mid morning for me, so around 24 hours but it does seem to vary a lot.

Thanks, hoping to feel a bit of suppression tomorrow. I am a serial snacker, which is my downfall!

TriangleLight · 09/03/2025 20:03

I’ve been scared to start. But just seen a picture 🙈 I start tomorrow

WithTheFairies · 09/03/2025 21:06

My suppression started almost immediately after my first jab. I injected at about 4pm and couldn't finish my dinner at 7pm. But maybe it was placebo - who knows?!

My diarrhoea seems to have settled down thank goodness. Jab day is Tuesday so I'm really hoping that I don't have the same problems after that one.

Hope everyone has a good weekend

Tereseta · 09/03/2025 21:27

I jabbed on Friday teatime but don't feel any suppression yet? Does it take a higher dose if v high bmi??

GameOfJones · 09/03/2025 21:31

@Tereseta I think it really varies a lot. From researching a lot of people don't feel any difference until the increase up to higher doses.

seasidehunter · 09/03/2025 21:47

Taking my first dose tonight before bed. I've been being very strict with calories the past two weeks, sticking to 1600, except when I've done a long run. I have lost a few pounds from my start weight but have been really conscious of the food noise (that I hope MJ will solve). DH is away this week so I've got the chance to see how I feel and work out what to eat without the pressure of sorting his meals too.

AmusedRoseCrow · 09/03/2025 22:22

Just did my first jab before I could talk myself out of it

here we go hoping for a decent week ahead

yikesanotherbooboo · 09/03/2025 22:31

I had more to drink tonight than I should have but have been busy all day and had a good dinner but no snacking.
My pen jammed whilst administering dose 2 which threw me . After a lot of googling I changed the needle and it worked fine. Weighing day is Tuesday for me.
I have a sedentary job , am post menopausal and have several days in the week where I barely move. What sort of calories are people are g for or are you just omitting snacks and eating less at mealtime due to feeling full? I have not yet felt full although I have avoided snacks and overeating!

Darcy86 · 09/03/2025 22:33

I've taken my first dose about an hour ago and have read this whole thread, some amazing weight losses and perspectives so thank you and hoping I can join in!

I'm 15st 10 and have lost 2st on slimming world but have been gaining and losing the same 2-3lbs since Christmas. I've been yoyo dieting for at least 20 years. My goal is between 12-12st 7, which is the high end of healthy BMI for my height I believe.

2 people I know have had amazing results on mounjaro which has encouraged me to take the plunge. Have only told my husband and feel nervous about whether to tell others. My husband really wants me to chat to my GP first and doesn't really trust it. Any tips on how to get him on board?!

I can't believe it may get to a point where food doesn't bother me too much. Really feels like an unrealistic dream, so hearing these experiences first hand gives me a lot of hope!

Sleepeazie · 09/03/2025 22:35

I did my 2nd jab about 6:45p.m the 1st injection site bruised. This one instantly came up in a raised coin sized lump.

That said, I feel fine in myself so hoping it’s just a contact reaction.

Did anybody else get a raised area?

Mine was red straight away and I was worried but it went off a couple of hours later….then I had a lovely bruise instead lol x

My husband also wanted me to chat to my GP as did I just to check it would be ok. (My BMI is 39.8 for context so very overweight)

I went to the GP who said they can't discuss it with me as I don't meet the NHS criteria as although I'm very obese I don't have any health conditions due to my weight. They could give me otlistat but not the injections. The GP said I have to go to a private GP, which I did as part of my injection order as a doctor has to review it to prescribe it. I had to send photos in twice as first weren't clear enough apparently. Still waiting to find out if I can be prescribed it.

Choux · 10/03/2025 07:18

@Darcy86 I would keep telling your DH you don't feel ill at all and that the 2.5mg you have taken is a low dose to start with.

I understand that he cares for you and wants you to not doing anything unsafe but seeing the GP to ask if you are ok to take a drug which will make you healthier overall is a bit of a waste of your time and the GPs time. (I assume you aren't a GP avoider with symptoms that could indicate medical issues you don't yet know about?)

GPs don't tend to know much about weight loss drugs unless they have a personal interest as they don't prescribe them. The online prescriber you used (a qualified prescribing pharmacist) checks the questionnaire and, as long as you filled it out honestly, uses it to identify who needs to be told they cannot have it because of medical conditions and who is ok to be prescribed it. They know far more about what to tell people with pancreas / gallbladder etc issues than a GP would as they have received training on how to prescribe it. I have seen people on these threads be told they were refused by prescribers so it does happen.

Darcy86 · 10/03/2025 07:34

Thank you @Choux and @Fatmumslim01. Yes I've filled out the questionnaire honestly. He's worried about "long term side effects" that may not be known about yet and also generally finds it alarming that I can just order something online to inject myself with, he said "it could be anything" sort of half joking! He's a naturally sceptical/risk averse person so I knew he would feel this way to an extent, also the fact I've lost some weight through SW makes him think I don't need them. I'm sure he'll come around as I'd like his support, I've told my best friend and she's very happy for me as her sister has been on it and it's changed her life.

No side effects in the 10ish hours since I took it, feel a little peckish this morning so will see if it's affected how much I can eat yet, very aware it's early days though!

CD1997 · 10/03/2025 07:52

Any advice. Started Saturday with 2.5. Was feeling a bit shitty sat but woke up Sunday. Having horrendous diarrhoea. Then, I started being sick Sunday afternoon. Been that much there now just abit of water and blood coming out. Iv had to phone in sick today as I'm so unwell. I keep getting the pain in my bum and lower belly like I need to go to the toilet every 10 minutes but I havnt eaten so nothing is really coming out. Havnt eaten as I was struggling to keep water down. Any advice. Please help guys

ShineyGreen · 09/03/2025 10:33

I've been using MS Copilot to suggest "low calorie high protein breakfasts" and it has come up with some nice ideas. Off to have poached egg and mashed avocado on toast :)

Has anyone found they have been waking really early and unable to get back to sleep? 5.15AM ish for me a few times this week but I don't know whether this is a) just the birds outside starting to wake up earlier now the mornings are beginning to get lighter b) my HRT estrogen dose needs upping or c) an MJ side effect (not Michael Jackson obvs, I'm not piping up with an Oooh hooo or shamone either so far)

No more than usual for me. In fact I feel my sleep is slightly better.
@CD1997 - contact the private doctor service who supplied it for advice.

Choux · 10/03/2025 07:55

Did he worry about the long term side effects of the Covid vaccines? (Assuming he was vaccinated.)

Is he aware of the long term effects of being obese?

Yes perhaps you could lose the weight without it but you need a 500 calorie defecit each day for a week to lose 1lb in a week. When you have 3 stone to lose that's 42 weeks you have to do that. It's a long hard slog and difficult to maintain that defecit every day especially when real life stress and socializing goes on without the support of Mounjaro.

Loveab123 · 10/03/2025 08:13

Morning, I woke up fully expecting to feel rough (first jab yesterday am) but feeling okay so far. A little bit of a loose stool, and having some not very nice burps, hopefully my omeparzole helps that! Don't feel hungry but I don't normally in the morning anyway. See what today brings...

I would ask your provider for advice personally. Dehydration sounds like a real possibility too. Hope you feel better soon 🤗

WithTheFairies · 10/03/2025 08:33

@CD1997 poor you. I really hope you feel better soon. Agree with others that getting advice from your provider is probably best. There is a lot of norovirus around at the moment so it is possible it's that and nothing to do with the jab, but I obviously don't know!

When does hunger suppression usually kick in? Thanks.

Mine was same day, jabbed at 6.30 am and noticed an effect within a couple of hours.

I’m on day 5 and was a bit worried mine was wearing off as I had a bit of food noise yesterday but suppression is back again today. What was good was being able to ignore the food noise. I also seemed to have a bit of bloating/wind pain but it does pass. We had some chipolatas for lunch so I’m wondering if it was the processed meat.

I weighed this morning and have lost 4lb so far!
