Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

I didn't understand the whole suppression feeling until now. I jabbed yesterday and so far only had a latte and three pints of water. I made banana pancakes for the kids this morning, would usually sample some chocolate chips on the side but was just not tempted! My brain is ignoring the chocolate right in front of me!

Sleepeazie · 09/03/2025 11:17

@Choux your experiences of what affects your weight tie in with mine. I had a cheese scone on Friday and I’d ‘put 3 pounds on’ overnight. I am a daily weigher, but my week has evened out.

My final first week weigh in today and I’m down to 12:1.3 (I had a low of 12:0.9 but that’s the daily fluctuations)

so
SW 12:5.9
CW 12:1.3
GW ? Around 10 I think

I’m not jabbing until later on, as I think I’m a bit dehydrated after (more) alcohol 😧, so want to rehydrate first.

suppression was less yesterday, I could taste my food thoughts for the first time all week. But very much still in existence and feel like im still in control of them.

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 09/03/2025 11:24

Well done to all of you that have lost, even 2lbs is amazing, there are going to be some weeks that there will be no weight lost, which is better than putting it on.

I went out for dinner last night with my partner normally would eat a starter and main. Last night I had no starter but did have a tiny slice of homemade bread and then had to force down my Chicken Shish and salad, I left 3 pieces of chicken, I have not told my husband that I am using WLI as he believes that I should just loss weight by exercising and healthy eating which have not worked before and now why I have an obese BMI.

I hope that everyone has a great week.

We had friends over last night and a decent amount of alcohol was consumed (I probably drank a bottle of wine between 5pm and midnight) with quite a healthy meal. After they went to bed, I gave myself my second jab. Last night, I felt perfectly clear headed, drank a pint of water as I cleared up, but woke up very early and felt really hungover. More so than normal (I’m not a raging alcoholic but since menopausal symptoms kicked in, I don’t really get drunk or suffer hangovers).

So, I’m still feeling rough with a headache but don’t know if it’s a side effect of the jab, or the MJ is having an impact on how I’m processing alcohol.

cw:72.2

Day 4 after first injection. First 3 days were great, instant suppression, no side effects, I've lost over 1lb. But today I feel suppression is wearing off, is that to be expected? Feeling hungry and thinking about food already.

It was day five for me - I decided to think of it as a training ground for when I come off the drug completely and continue to eat modestly but healthily

MamaNewtNewt · 09/03/2025 11:54

I'm at the in laws for Sunday lunch. DMIL has already whipped out a coffee cake and told me we are having apple crumble for pudding. Not tempted at all, which is good, but hoping to allay suspicions by just saying I'm eating healthily. Sunday lunch won't be too bad as I'm vegetarian so will just have the veg and of course some Yorkshire pudding.

YellowHedgePig · 09/03/2025 11:59

Hi, just taken delivery in the last 20 minutes of my first batch, just turned 60 and had a lifetime of various diets. Some work but many have not. I have always struggled with maintaining so ultimately end up back where I started. I have always had to do my journeys on my own but this time my wife and a good friend will all be starting the same day so safety in numbers.
I am very much in unhappy land but I am very optimistic that this will achieve what I set out to do. My current weight is 17st 9lb which is shocking as I am only 5ft 7". Not setting a goal target as prefer to see where the journey will take me

Pipsballoon · 09/03/2025 12:14

Yesterday was weigh in and second jab, which I did at bedtime, as that’s what I’d done on week one. I did feel that suppression was a bit less yesterday, day 7 was the first day that I actually felt hungry, but still without the usual food noise, which meant I was able to still eat well. We had a weekend treat of fish and chips, but I opted for a small fish, and only ate 2 chips, which my husband was clearly puzzled by (haven’t told him yet about the jabs, he’s a worrier about anything medical)!

I felt slightly nauseous going to bed but feel fine today, and full suppression came back immediately.

I wanted to touch on the weekly versus daily weigh in, I tend to weigh daily, I always have, so I’m comfortable with the fluctuations. I find that daily weigh ins keep me focus on my targets etc. I had a gain of half a pound this morning, but an overall loss of 5lb, and I know the gain is due to a combination of constipation and dehydration, as yesterday is the first day I slipped and didn’t drink enough.

Overall delighted with week one and how things are progressing, particularly with regard to how I feel in myself. I left yesterday’s Pilates class with a smile on my face, feeling like I have turned a significant corner and am finding my way back to the version of me that I’ve not been for years!

museumum · 09/03/2025 12:37

I have just bought my first pen and I’m absolutely terrified. I’m 88-90kg at 5’2” so around 35 bmi. I’m stocky build and muscular so actually felt fit and strong at bmi 27ish and have not been lower than that for decades but went into perimenopause during 2020/21 Covid times and everything went to pot. Since I went over bmi 30 I now feel impeded in daily life and unable to do the active things I enjoy.

Is anyone else here quite active? How have you found starting MJ affected your endurance energy or strength? I know getting lighter will be better in the long run but I’ll be sad if it makes me even worse in the short term. I have an active weekend away coming up and am sick of being at the back holding everyone up.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 09/03/2025 12:38

I'm not sure if it's already been mentioned, but a really good tip to overcome the daily fluctuation angst is to change your metric. So if you're a kg girl, change to lbs. If you like stones change to lbs. If you like lbs change to kg.

It completely depersonalises the numbers as you can't relate them to anything. I changed to lbs a while back and because I'm awful at maths, I have no concept of what that is in stones or even kg. Nutracheck lets you toggle between so once a week you could check your preferred metric and see your progress.

I've weighed daily for years. Just get up, wee, weigh, log it and then get on with my day.

CFCmum · 09/03/2025 13:10

Hello all,
I had my first jab on 28th fab and the second on 7th march just cam across this post whilst reading others stories thought I would say hello.

Sleepeazie · 09/03/2025 13:14

@museumum we have a similar height and weight (5.1 and started with 32.5 bmi). I am incredibly active. I never sit down. I walk 20k+ steps a day at a consistent 6k per hour pace. Im a self employed cleaner too and always full of jumping beans !

similar story with Covid weight gain too. I really think I’ve ended up insulin resistant, after Covid and previous gestational diabetes.

I never had food noise or overate until the last few years. So I can vouch, that some people will never understand how hard it is to
Ignore - because they don’t experience it.

i look too thin below 9.7, as i’m hour glass but muscular. So aiming for minimum of that (despite that being top of healthy bmi)

I had one day where i was too tired to exercise last week. I think I hasn’t drank enough water though. Otherwise I’ve seen no change.

This is a really good idea!

MountainQueen · 09/03/2025 14:05

@museumum
I'm fairly active. Gained a lot of weight during Covid and it doesn't seem to shift no matter what I do. I'm doing fitness classes and running when I can. Did a small run yesterday, energy levels haven't changed but I was only on my third day yesterday.

GameOfJones · 09/03/2025 16:34

So after I did my first jab yesterday morning I didn't feel any different all day, but by 7pm I was absolutely knackered and fell asleep on the sofa for an hour! That's very unlike me so thought it must be due to the jab. I had an extremely faint feeling of nausea before bed and got an early night.

This morning I woke up with a slight headache and a dry mouth. But it went after having plenty of water and getting some fresh air. I went out on a walk with DH and the kids - we did 4 miles and I felt absolutely fine, no different to usual if that helps anyone questioning whether the jabs affect exercise (I appreciate it is very early days for me!).

Got to lunchtime and I still hadn't had anything other than water and black coffee but that's usual for me as I do intermittent fasting. But I then realised I didn't feel hungry which I usually do once it gets past 12pm and I've been fasting 17 hours or so. Finally ate some cheese and crackers and had a protein shake at 3pm and I am feeling really full! So it's definitely doing something already.

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 09/03/2025 16:41

I have a new and first symptom feeling so cold, I have a thick woollen jumper, fleecy legging, socks on plus the heating cranked up and a blanket on me, plus the heating on, and it’s 16 degrees here.
I am hoping that shivering means burning more calories!

Hippobottymus · 09/03/2025 16:43

Similarly GameofJones I took my first jab last night and have felt fine today, if a little sleepy. However when I started eating lunch, I only had half before I realised I was totally full!

I don't remember the last time I felt satiated BlushSmile

Really hopeful that this is the start of establishing long lasting eating habits.

Hope you’re not coming down with anything. Rest up! Xx

northernlight20 · 09/03/2025 17:25

Can I join in? Had my first jab on wed, feeling slight suppression, dry mouth. And so far only lost 2lb, which I’ve found disappointing.
sw 114.4kg
cw 113.5kg

I’ve been cold last few days, I’m usually a hot person so this is new for me. I couldn’t work out if it is just cold or if it’s me!

GameOfJones · 09/03/2025 18:08

My colleague at work that is taking mounjaro says he often now feels cold. I think it's a common side effect!

Loveab123 · 09/03/2025 18:14

Can I join please. First jab this morning, trying to watch what I eat because I know this can affect the side effects. My mum made us a Sunday roast then panicked about the beef. I only had 2 slices, a Yorkshire pudding, veg and 1 potato croquette. I wouldn't say I am not hungry, just more nervous about side effects!

When does hunger suppression usually kick in? Thanks.

Van34 · 09/03/2025 18:26

Had my first jab yesterday evening and woke up with supression. Kept thinking... Is this all in my head? Had a slice of toast and a cup of tea for breakfast and went in the garden. Usually hungry at 10.30am but at 1pm came in for another cup of tea, a very small slice of cake (id have usually had the cake for breakfast) and a couple of pre made pancakes that needed using up. Popped the rest of the pancakes in the fridge and went back outside.

Came back in again at 4.30pm after grafting all afternoon. Id have usually had some snack to tide me over. It's nearly 18.30, I have prepped dinner, cooked the dog his dinner (that's a whole other story) and had a shower. I am still not hungry. I know I need to eat because I need refueling but I couldnt care less that there are crisps, chocolate, the rest of my cake all sitting in the cupboard. This is revolutionary!

I do however have the most god awful shoulder/neck/rib/jaw pain. I feel bruised all over. Woke up like this so it's not working in the garden that's done it. Interestingly, working out there hasn't been hindered by it either, I can only feeling it when there is pressure on the area. But the pain when DH cuddles me is unreal. I've just had him cover me in deep heat that's helped somewhat but it was agony while he rubbed it in. Hope this fades quickly but a small price to pay in the long run.
