Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

I’ve been procrastinating. Going to jag tomorrow

SharpOpalNewt · 04/03/2025 22:00

I've just stopped taking the pill as I'm nearly 50. Haven't had a period for three months and am hoping they are done now.

Justformounjaro · 04/03/2025 23:20

I am very determined to avoid constipation (as I am a frequent sufferer) so I've been very mindful to drink as much as possible - but I do feel I'm sloshing about inside and I'm wearing tracks in the carpet to the loo! It's really taxing my menopausal bladder as the urge comes on quickly and often 🥴

Same! And not to be graphic but no sign of movement in 2 days even with all the water so I’m going to up the fibre tomorrow and pray 🙏 😂😂😂

@ShineyGreen @poppysocks81 but that's the point! It's not about not having the willpower or not trying hard enough. Everyone has different levels of these hormones in their body naturally. If MJ works for you then it just means that you're naturally deficient in these hormones. There are people out there who lack the 'food noise' all the time. They've never had it.

It's nothing to be ashamed of just as it's nothing to be ashamed of if you have an under active thyroid, start treatment and lose weight.

That said I know that not everyone views it this way and so I too am not telling people generally. If I lose weight and people notice and ask I will just say 'I've been really dedicated' because I have. But I need you yourselves to be kinder to yourselves!

soupforbrains · 04/03/2025 23:49

@Justformounjaro and @Lollzi86 I too set out absolutely determined to avoid constipation. However I clearly have slightly over done the high fibre as I've had it more the other end of the scale so I'm now dialling things back a bit!

GinNphonics · 04/03/2025 23:56

Hi 👋 can I join?

Waiting for my pen to be delivered this week. I will then weigh myself again.

Good luck everyone x

TryingMJ · 05/03/2025 05:32

TMI but I’ve been up in the night with diarrhoea, woke up with a gurgle tum around 4.30am. Struggling to get back to sleep now. I don’t feel unwell or anything now, stomach maybe still a little gurgly/crampy. Going to try and get another hour sleep before the alarm goes off at 6.30 (or the three year old wakes and comes though, whichever is first!)

poppysocks81 · 05/03/2025 05:40

@soupforbrains thank you for that, I really needed to hear that! Hopefully all these thoughts will no longer matter once I actually start losing the weight 🤞🏻

Me too! Work up with some cramps and currently on my second visit so really hoping this isn't a regular thing as I've had zero side effects so far

Im off to the GP today to discuss starting mounjaro and see if I can get it on the NHS. Also need to double check it's fine for me to be on it.

BMI just a smidge under 40 😱☹️

Ive been previously told my weight is putting my health at risk so I'll see what th y say. I've been given otlistat in the past but was too worried about side effects to take it. I know someone in it and they have to rush off to the toilet alot and I don't want that all the time.

MamaNewtNewt · 05/03/2025 08:08

Just catching up on the thread.

I've managed to avoid the constipation so far, probably because I've been drinking plenty. Not sure if it's the MJ but I've found myself more thirsty than normal. I'm managing to stick to drinking water, which I'm really happy with as I normally love fizzy drinks. However as a perimenopausal woman it's also playing havoc with my bladder. I had to get up about five times to pee last night.

DH is the only one I've told. I did feel like the jabs were cheating at first but I don't feel like that anymore. Like others if I'm asked I'll say I've been eating sensibly (and exercising once I actually start). Which is true. Although I'll probably end up blurting it out. I don't think we should be embarrassed though. We aren't seeing it as an easy fix, we've all tried everything. And if paying a £150 a month doesn't show how committed we are to losing weight I don't know what does. I want to be around for DD growing up, I don't want to be too fat to do things with her, and if a weight loss jab is what it takes to make that happen I'm fine with that. It helps to make it easier and that's fine. There are no prizes for suffering.

criticalthinking · 05/03/2025 08:37

Hello all, just took my first dose this morning 😊 had a bit of confusion about the flow test and then panicked id administered all 4 doses in one go (obviously didn't as dial was at 1). Nervous but excited. Weight has piled on since my daughter was born 20 months ago - I actually lost a good deal of weight in pregnancy. Anyway hoping to forge some good habits. Thanks for having me!

Sleepeazie · 05/03/2025 08:40

Sorry for those who had bad nights last night. Hope you’re feeling better this morning.

I had no ill effects from the Indian curry last night (and 1.5 cans of bud light).

Jumped on the scales and I’m 3.2 pounds down since Sunday, early evening, when I did my first jab.

Tired today though - booked on a spin class but think I’m going to cancel in favour of a swim and some weighted hula hooping at home instead. Also I’ll up my water intake after my lager last night.

poppysocks81 · 05/03/2025 08:45

@MamaNewtNewt so true! It's not a decision I've made lightly at all, and knowing the money I'm committing to this surely shows my desperation and commitment!
Absolutely no side effects or anything after my first jab last night. Ate breakfast normally and can't say I feel any different. Trying to be patient!

Hope you're OK! This is what I'm worried about. I'm in an office all day, dreading this happening at work! Can we take immodium?

Oh dear! 😳 There’s a fine line to be trod, especially when you’re thinking about calories, protein, fibre, non starchy vegetables, water, and general day to day life.

SW 238lb 17st
GW 168lb 12st

Hi all!! Ordered my first pen today and hoping it is approved quickly. At my absolute heaviest and feeling awful. Noticed recently that I can no longer get up from the floor gracefully and very few clothes fit (those that do have been bought recently). I was diagnosed with PCOS with insulin resistance 2 years ago but the only help from the consultant was being told to lose weight. No matter what I try, I lose a couple of lb but then plateau and end up giving up. Hoping this is going to give my body the shove it needs.

I used to be a classic hour glass when I met DH, size 14. Weight was always evenly distributed and I always looked relatively slim even though I weighed heavier than you'd expect (dense boned). Now I am a size 20 with it all gathered round my stomach area. I hardly have a waist now and I look like a blob. My photo to the pharmacy was horrific.

So here is to getting on top of everything, getting healthy and being slim.

Roll on delivery!

Oh no well you’ve definitely avoided it 😂 fingers crossed you work out the perfect middle ground!

Edensnapz · 05/03/2025 09:53

Hi Everyone 👋. I've just started. Injected first dose last night before bed. No bad side effects yet (early days 😬) but feel a bit weird...like I'm expecting bad things to happen!

I went with Lloyds Pharmacy in the end. Tried Boots online first but they rejected my pictures saying I didn't look my bmi! Lucky escape though, as after shopping around Boots were very expensive compared to others. Had a really quick and efficient service with Lloyds, applied Monday, delivered Wednesday, so I'm happy with them so far.

Height 5ft 3in
Sw - 14st 2lb
Gw - below 12st to start with and see how I go
Ultimate GW - 10st to be just in a healthy bmi

Had a normal breakfast of cereal this morning. No obvious changes to my appetite or fullness but this is day 1!

I've struggled and yo-yo'd with weight all my adult life, so I'm hopeful this could be a turning point.

I'm very thankful I found this forum and this group. Reading other's experiences has been really helpful in making the decision to try it.

Good luck everyone

Morning all!

Feeling a bit more hungry today as Jab #2 is due tomorrow.

I also managed to finish my smallish plate of dinner last night (keto pancakes made with almond flour and eggs) so the effects definitely diminish as the week goes on. Not a huge thing, just need to be more mindful about not overeating a day or two before jabbing.

Morning

Good luck tomorrow, have you also taken body measurements as I keep seeing people that have had huge changes in inches lost.

Re: contraception, I had the coil fitted about three weeks ago in preparation!

I thought I had overdone it on pancakes last night, but scales showing a loss this morning so I'm happy with that. Realistically, I only had yoghurt with raspberries, oats and chia seeds and a bowl of lentil soup all day before the pancakes though so I imagine I'm still within calories.

Morerollthanrock · 05/03/2025 10:30

Did my first dose on Monday, feel no difference in all honesty 😅 although, I’m not particularly hungry (but I do have the lurgy so felt like this for a week or so anyway).

I still managed to polish off 3 pancakes last night 😫
