Shemed January Starters - Thread 3

1000 replies

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 24/02/2025 23:50

Wow thread 3! I just went to post on the other thread and realised we'd got to the end. I hope everyone finds us - I wasn't able to post a link!

This thread is a support thread aimed at those who started with the Shemed 1 year plan in January (or there abouts).

How is everyone?

I am not nauseous today and seeing light at the end of the tunnel- but so glad I have stuck on 5mg for the next one. I am definitely eating less too - I'm hoping that lasts!
@OneAzureMaker - ah we can be second 5mg pens together! I really want to do some exercise but similarly will have to wait until I have some energy. @tinyemmy Yay hope you are still going okay too - will be a few of us on our second 5 pens!

@Reginaphalangeeeee

Wow - fantastic results! And great the side effects have remained calm. I've had side effects each weekend of the 3 5mg jabs I've taken but they've decreased. This weekend was much more manageable for me. I think the suppression is more constant now too. I will stay on this dose if it carries on like this for a while.

@JBJ Yay for more loss - and good luck with 5mg

@BruhWhy Is the nausea easing?

@Needtomust96 I think some people in the facebook group have - you can use the section at the end of the form to request it and do say why. From reading randomly online it does seem some people need the higher doses to respond although a 1kg a week is what I'm aiming for. You might find that 5mg does it for you in a way 2.5 doesn't.

@Monmonss I did my questionnaire early Friday morning and the pen is supposed to be arriving Tuesday (tomorrow) . I think they issued it Sunday. Hope it settles for you - have you tried taking anything and all that?

@YouWillFindMeUnderCats I was the same - 13lbs and not quite the stone! I am now though - slow and steady does keep adding up. Hope the 5mg goes okay for you.

@Mazd323 How has today been? I think I'm eating less on 5mg but it still wears off towards the end of the week

@Lostatsea10 and @MrsMidgeMaisel and @Follydear I am sorry you are both still struggling. :( It's a hard thing to weigh up isn't it. It does seem Shemed do let people out of the contract if they're struggling or give them the option of Wegovy, and definitely seem to let them stay at 2.5 for longer if needed. Good luck whatever you both decide.

@Humptyandhambel Yay for a steady weight loss and hope 5mg is treating you okay.

Tagging people as I couldn't put a link onto the other page - hope that's okay and please do tag anyone I've missed out (probably quite a few!)

11st 0.4 now... I'm doing that thing where my body teeters on the same lb for a week or so and I can't easily pass it. I find this everytime im near the new stone bracket. Is anyone a similar weight to me now?

I've got to spend the morning doing a vinted upload. Officially my 16s are too big and I must visit the loft. :-)

Are you happy with your body shape at 11 stones? I haven't seen myself this size in a long time and it's a lot to get used to.

I've got a 10mg starting this week, hopefully that will get me down to my first goal weight of 10st 4.6lb.

JBJ · 04/08/2025 09:12

Check in day seems to have come around quickly this week! 3rd 10mg injection and another 2.6lb loss, taking me to 4st 3.7lb loss in total. So close to the 4.5st I wanted to be at by the 6 month point!

Got my blood test here, which I’m going to do this morning. Just drinking copious amounts of water before I do it!

Away camping from this coming weekend for a week, so not expecting miracles on my return as there will be alcohol involved🤣 I’ll be very happy if I can just maintain my weight.

Good luck this week everyone!

You're the same weight as me and I'm selling a load of size 16 stuff too. I'm happy at this weight, I will carry on very very steadily for a while and see where I land before maintaining, but I don't want to be much smaller. I was 10 stone 4 when I was 20 years old and never since (mid 40s now) and I just think it would look and feel a bit too slim for my age now, and possibly be ageing?! I still have enough fat in my face currently to look relatively youthful, and my boobs haven't completely disappeared yet. I also don't want it to be blatant to the whole world that I've been 'on the jabs' if you see what I mean. But that last one is a bit of a stupid reason.

Kaggi9 · 06/08/2025 16:55

@Earthgirl3971 @Bear2014 how tall are you both if you don’t mind me asking? Your weight is similar to mine but I’m solidly in size 12 bottoms and a size 10 top now. Still have some to shift on my legs though!

I asked to move back to a 5ml dose this week and they agreed, so Friday will be my last 7.5ml. I also had the results of my 6 month blood test this morning. Has anyone else had these back? What were your comparisons like?

I'm 5ft 4, so short legs etc. Lol.

My markers were all good. I just need to work on my total cholesterol but everything is getting better and with my renpho I'm closer to healthy markers aswell so I'm really pleased with how it's gone for me so far. My only goal now is to build muscle as I'm slim now but without natural definition which I don't really like.

I'm also 5'4 with hips and boobs so can't imagine being in many size 12 things but maybe that's just the styles I wear etc.

My cholesterol etc has improved loads in the 6 months, so really happy with that.

Kaggi9 · 07/08/2025 01:31

@Earthgirl3971 @Bear2014

Thanks for your replies! I’m 5.7 so I guess those 3 inches make a lot of difference! I have wide hips but not much boob anymore!

According to the blood test I have everything in range now, except for the healthy cholesterol which is too low apparently! Need to do some googling to find out how to increase it and get it back in range.

meatyryvita · 07/08/2025 09:10

Just got my 6 month bloods back - cholesterol has gone from 6.48 to 5.58, which is fab and LDL from 3.63 to 3.06. I'd never considered myself to be a candidate for high cholesterol as I'm a veggie (I don't really know why I thought that) but shows how wrong I was!

I'd love to be 5ft 7. I often say to my daughter my only wish is to be three inches taller! 😂 (Everytime I grab the stool to reach the top shelf as my best tippy toes just doesn't reach)!

I'm 10st 13.6 today.. I did used to have a curvy bum, I've still got big boobs 😉

My renpho says I'm just two years away metabolically from my actual age. I'll take that.

JBJ · 07/08/2025 12:38

Got my 6 month bloods back today and they’re worse than ever! HDL cholesterol is still in the red and GGT (liver I believe) is at 58, which is ridiculous. Not worrying too much though as the first lot were grossly inaccurate when my GP checked them with a blood test, so going to see if I can get that done again.

On a plus side, I’m no longer pre diabetic (never was according to the NHS tests!) and I weighed myself this morning and saw a 16 on the scales 😀😀😀 16st 13.9lb, but still a 16!

Missing check in next week as I’m camping, but hoping that 16 is still there when I get back!

tinyemmy · 07/08/2025 22:03

I got home from holiday yesterday and jabbed 3.75 in the evening and then weighed myself this morning. I'd put no weight on whilst away. I slightly regret jabbing 3.75, in hindsight given I maintained (whilst eating everything I wanted but also being aware) I probably should have done 2.5. Particularly as I plan to jab again on Monday and have no idea what to jab, probably less than 2.5 and then back to 2.5 the following Monday. I think maintenance is maybe somewhere between 3.75 and 2.5. I found myself mindlessly eating on 2.5 but 3.75 probably gives too much suppression.
I filled in my questionnaire and was emailed to ask if I wanted to stay on 5mg. I said yes, it gives me options plus I think keeps them happy given 5 is a maintenance dose. I think if you go to 2.5 they want you to then come off (I don't know this for a fact).
I've been looking at other providers for maintenance, it looks like the cheapest at the moment for the lowest doses is pharmaesthetics. It's £108.98 for 2.5 and £119.98 for 5, obviously more than we are paying now but a lot cheaper than what SheMed rolls on to be. I think if you're on higher doses to maintain them SheMed will be good to stay with. It will be a shame to have to move on at the end of the year. I don't see myself coming off them by then / ever. I do hope SheMed will offer something to allow us to stay.
I hope everyone else is doing ok!

The same as me. I read alcohol (small volumes) and exercise is best. I have been T total since on MJ since Jan but trying to exercise. Healthy fats from nuts, seeds and avocardo also meant to help

Mortigua · 08/08/2025 08:21

Hi all, I saw a comment about missing check in . I’m away next week so will be missing the weigh in and check in . I contacted she med to say about it and they said I can use a photo of a weight before the check in if it’s within 7 days . Does anyone know how that works ? Do I just send a picture of the weight instead of doing the call ?

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 08/08/2025 08:25

Morning all!

My 31st check in today (Wow! Haven't we all come along way from those first nervous jabs). I've only lost 200g. But when I use chat gpt to convert to lbs -
107.4 is 16st13
107.2 is 16st12!
So I must have been just on the boarder. I'll take it as 16st 12....!!

I'm 1lb away from a 5stone loss - but weight loss has been slowing and I have asked to go upto 10mg. I'm hoping I do. I've not been binging but I just able to eat so much more and finishing meals, fancying a pudding when we have one type of thing. I can't see how I'll ever come off MJ. I really want to get to a healthy weight and don't want to get to 15 and it stop working before I get there 😬.

Well done those of you at a healthy bmi or v close to it 🎉🎉.
@tinyemmy it sounds like you're getting closer and closer to finding a maintenance dose that works for you. I hope to stay with Shemed but only as I'm at a higher dose - it wouldn't make sense on a low dose but its still a good price for those last 5 months. (I'd be tempted to use the 5th dose and store them if you know you'll be moving on...)

Yay for blood tests @meatyryvita and others! It shows it's all made a difference doesn't it. I do like that they've done blood tests as part of this.

@JBJ Great 10mg is working for you - I'm really hoping it kick starts it again for me! Yay for the 16! That was me last week. It does perk you up a bit doesn't it! Have fun camping - we just got back from camping and had a fab time ⛺.

@OneAzureMaker How has the house move gone and hope the new work is friendly and lovely to you.

@Reginaphalangeeeee How has your first week on 10 been? Side effects? Any weight loss? I've started to get worried that maybe eating too little was slowing my metabolism and affecting loss so ate normally this week to try and balance it but then only lost 200g! Hope you're okay and it's not messing with your mind too much x

I contacted them and they’ve told me to do it as log past injection, no mention of photos or anything. Would be helpful if everyone was told the same thing!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 08/08/2025 08:27

@Mortigua You can click on late check in the next day and just enter your weight manually and log it that way. They don't mind if we do it occasionally.

OP posts:
FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 08/08/2025 08:29

@Mortigua If you click on the check in box when you aren't due to check in (ie you can't do it on the day it's due) you get this screen - you can try it on a non check n day just to see. Click on log late injection (you don't have to actually do it - just see how easy it is!)

OneAzureMaker · 08/08/2025 09:23

First full week on 10mg and a loss for me of 1.6kg, which given that I haven't had a loss for over a month is great. It has given a bit more suppression, but I wouldn't have said I had reduced my intake enough for a loss like that! There are still far too many treats around since my house move, my birthday, and today is my son's birthday! But the main thing is no increase in side effects, which given that has been something I've really struggled with is amazing.

But I am happy to take it! Just below 16 stone now which is incredible.

I won't be starting my new job until the 14th September, so we have time to settle in, redecorate the house and make it feel like home which is great. But we have moved somewhere with amazing coffee shops (and cake!), many restaurants etc.

But I have been up and down ladders, moving boxes, painting and doing DIY, so probably much more active than usual.

I hope everything is going well for you all and for those who have moved up to 10mg, I'm right there with you!

Are you able to call, but just not weigh? I had to check in several hours later than usual last week so I just told them I weighed myself earlier in the day (which I had) and told them what it was and they were totally not bothered and just entered it in. So I guess you could fudge it and go for a weight earlier in the week or a made up weight just as a placeholder for the week. I'll probably do the same when we're in France at the end of the month as I can take my meds and call them but I'm not taking scales.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 08/08/2025 12:32

@OneAzureMaker Oh how lovely to have that time to settle. And great to hear 10mg has worked for you - especially after the inial side effect "fun". I'm hoping I get 10mg and can feel similar in 3 weeks time!

OP posts:
Mortigua · 08/08/2025 12:34

@Bear2014 I’m not sure actually if that’s what I have to do then ? I can call them no problem but it’s the scales as I’m not taking them - also not taking the injection with me so perhaps not worth the call though - I don’t want them to take me out of the programme for not checking in but would rather just not think for the week and just add it manually without the call if it is possible though I think

I hope they give you 10mg @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden it sounds like it's time. Incredible weight loss though. And I think if you end up maintaining on 15 SheMed will be good to stay with. I have been a bit cheeky on the dose front. I have to be careful as I don't want to get thrown off the program but the last pen I've made last. It's good that I've got the rest of the year to figure it out.
I'm also on 31 jabs / check ins. I presume that means 21 to go? Part of me will be pleased to do away with the weekly check in, although better the devil you know!?

You can not check in I think once per month. I don't risk that but I haven't checked in on holiday (just missing one check in at a time). Just put the previous week's weight in. I've done that in January, May and now July. I will also not check in when I'm away in October. I've taken my own with me each time except my last holiday (as staying with family and I'm a secret jabber, plus on maintenance)
I don't know yet what my plan will be in October, I will probably leave the jab at home.

Mortigua · 08/08/2025 21:35

I am also a secret jabber so this is reassuring . I’ll see what happens but if all else fails I do have the email from them saying to just log a weight as long as it’s less than a week ago (it wasn’t all that clear !
