Shemed January Starters - Thread 3

1000 replies

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 24/02/2025 23:50

Wow thread 3! I just went to post on the other thread and realised we'd got to the end. I hope everyone finds us - I wasn't able to post a link!

This thread is a support thread aimed at those who started with the Shemed 1 year plan in January (or there abouts).

How is everyone?

I am not nauseous today and seeing light at the end of the tunnel- but so glad I have stuck on 5mg for the next one. I am definitely eating less too - I'm hoping that lasts!
@OneAzureMaker - ah we can be second 5mg pens together! I really want to do some exercise but similarly will have to wait until I have some energy. @tinyemmy Yay hope you are still going okay too - will be a few of us on our second 5 pens!

@Reginaphalangeeeee

Wow - fantastic results! And great the side effects have remained calm. I've had side effects each weekend of the 3 5mg jabs I've taken but they've decreased. This weekend was much more manageable for me. I think the suppression is more constant now too. I will stay on this dose if it carries on like this for a while.

@JBJ Yay for more loss - and good luck with 5mg

@BruhWhy Is the nausea easing?

@Needtomust96 I think some people in the facebook group have - you can use the section at the end of the form to request it and do say why. From reading randomly online it does seem some people need the higher doses to respond although a 1kg a week is what I'm aiming for. You might find that 5mg does it for you in a way 2.5 doesn't.

@Monmonss I did my questionnaire early Friday morning and the pen is supposed to be arriving Tuesday (tomorrow) . I think they issued it Sunday. Hope it settles for you - have you tried taking anything and all that?

@YouWillFindMeUnderCats I was the same - 13lbs and not quite the stone! I am now though - slow and steady does keep adding up. Hope the 5mg goes okay for you.

@Mazd323 How has today been? I think I'm eating less on 5mg but it still wears off towards the end of the week

@Lostatsea10 and @MrsMidgeMaisel and @Follydear I am sorry you are both still struggling. :( It's a hard thing to weigh up isn't it. It does seem Shemed do let people out of the contract if they're struggling or give them the option of Wegovy, and definitely seem to let them stay at 2.5 for longer if needed. Good luck whatever you both decide.

@Humptyandhambel Yay for a steady weight loss and hope 5mg is treating you okay.

Tagging people as I couldn't put a link onto the other page - hope that's okay and please do tag anyone I've missed out (probably quite a few!)

Check in today and for the first time a gain, up 0.6kg, but I have eaten really badly, found myself snacking loads. Today was the last dose of pen 3 5mg, 7.5mg is waiting in the fridge next week.

Still a total of 18.7kg, 3 stone lost, so I can't complain.
How are people doing with their eating habits, I feel as though I haven't really addressed those. Until the last month I've had awful side effects and whilst I've not eaten much due to high suppression, what I haven't eaten isn't ideal. Things like baked potatoes, peanut butter on toast etc

But, I have found 2 things that I love, kallo salt and vinegar lentil cakes and Aldi BBQ almonds and cashews!!

kittykarate · 25/04/2025 09:45

I know that I cannot sustain a 'gold standard' healthy diet. I find it unpleasant to eat due to food issues (even now I can feel my tongue creeping back in my mouth when I think about a salad), but I can knuckle under for a fixed period of time. If I lose following something like Weight Watchers etc. the diet change will never stick because I hate most of the food I'm eating to lose weight and so basically the wheels come off the wagon and I gain at 2x the speed I lost at!

My most sustained maintain was when I managed to just eat the same stuff, no snacks, less filler on my plate (bread/rice etc), leave food when full. So this is what I'm sticking to on this program. My loss is definitely slower than other people, but I'm not miserable while its happening, and because of the reduced food noise, and the knowledge that if I want I can have chips I'm not obsessing over food anywhere near as much, and I'm probably eating danger foods much less often.

Is it not working for anyone? I'm on 7.5, two more doses until I move up to 10. I started January. Lost a total of 4.1kg. Which is mainly made up of gains the last few weeks. I've had little to no suppression and I'm getting really worried! Hope 10mg makes a difference.

I had no suppression on my last 5mg pen at all (I wondered if I had been sent a dud) and have moved to 7.5mg, took my first dose a few days ago and feel no suppression still - no side effects either which I do not miss. It’s very hard to get back on track, I was a bit bad over Easter staying with family and having bits of Easter egg and cake!

Earthgirl3971 · 26/04/2025 21:15

I didn't lose anything this week. I might have put a lb on. 🫣 Lady week has both been late and long this week.

Hoping for a better week this week once it's gone.

Feels like the mood music is looking forward to moving up to the next dose. I think I am now.

@Earthgirl3971I am definitely getting that vibe and will be mentioning it in my comments on Wednesday when I complete the questionnaire.

Yeah it is feeling like it is the right time now. I hope you get what you ask for from your questionnaire.

I feel like we're all reaching the end of 5mg, because same here. I had a loss of 0.5lbs at check in on Thursday, I am due on but it's like injecting water at this point anyway. Definitely hit a plateau in general though, loss has been slowing to a halt the past few weeks.

I'm going to really be mindful this week and calorie count, make sure I'm eating satiating good food and all that, but I'm looking forward to 7.5 now.

Mazd323 · 27/04/2025 14:06

I’m with you all! Really wanted to move up last time to 7.5mg but they said I was having optimum weight loss. Weight loss definitely gone down this month, food noise back, hardly any suppression and snacking more. I’ve been reading some people have been kept on 5mg for a 4th month. I’m praying this doesn’t happen to me because I’m not feeling it’s working well at all at the moment and I really need to move up!

I'm losing around 1.1lb per week or less. I think that's optimum weight loss aswell I've lost around 23lb in total. That's enough to keep me on 5mg too. All im going to do is state my case about increasing dosage now I've had my third pen of 5 but I won't be too disappointed if they decide that I'm doing well on 5mg as I've got around 35 weeks left of the plan and around 3stones to lose maximum. I think it'll all even out.

Good luck to everyone doing questionnaires and hoping to go up dosage I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Just done weigh in - W13, 9th jab of 5mg - and have by some miracle lost 3.9lb!! I say miracle as I’ve got a friend staying who doesn’t know I’m on WLI and who is a big girl herself and has wanted to eat out a lot, so I’ve been carefully ordering the lowest calorie options and doing a lot of pushing things around my plate 🤣

0.6lb off the next stone bracket and 2st 7.9lb in total. Can’t wait to see that 18st bracket, hopefully next week!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 28/04/2025 15:22

Well done @JBJthat is great.
just catching up as not been on here a while. Felt I was living a bit too virtually so trying to correct that.
after a couple of bad weeks and minimal/no loss… this week hit a 1Kg loss again whoop!
Just injected jab number 15 & complete questionnaire for refill. Wondering if they will auto give me 7.5mg now?

Total weight loss >3 stone at 20KG now! Taken me to a 15% body weight loss And BMI 38.8 (so glad to be under 40). Starting weight was 136kg in January.
I am hoping I can hit a few more pounds in the next week or so (although period is due) to get me into the 17’s.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 29/04/2025 22:47

Can now answer this. Nope, not 7.5 yet sadly, they prescribed another 5mg. Feel silly to be disappointed but finding I am thinking about desserts lots 🙄 been strong so far but worried I will break.

Yep this is me too @Mazd323
tbis will be my 5th pen.
i accept good weight loss but food noise is hard! They kept me on 5mg. I am
dissappointed.

DearRaven · 30/04/2025 08:24

Jab 15 today & refill questionnaire done. I’ve had two good weight losses in a row & even though the previous weeks were not so good, I won’t mind if they keep me on 5mg. Suppression is high & I’m making good choices without craving sugary or fatty foods.

Weight loss this week is 0.8kg which I’m thrilled with 😁

Jab 15 // 5mg dose // 10.2kg loss so far

Reginaphalangeeeee · 30/04/2025 09:05

Glad you have good supression and doing well @DearRaven
Loss this week been good and overall great weight loss.
suppression still high but don’t understand why cravings are back or how to switch them off. The very strange thing was even day 1-2 post jab I wanted treats. I am due my period so not unusual to be craving things and I have been really strong and declined, but wish I didn’t have to battle so much.

jab 15// 5mg// 20KG lost

Mazd323 · 30/04/2025 09:14

@Reginaphalangeeeeeoh no that’s disappointing. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason why they move some people up and not others. My prescription has just come through and thankfully they’ve moved me up to 7.5mg (this will be my 5th pen). I really didn’t want to do another month on 5mg but who knows if moving up will actually make any difference 🤷🏻‍♀️.

SnowieBear · 30/04/2025 09:24

Hi there all, congrats on some great losses.

On the question of cravings and at risk of being controversial... Isn't this the time to teach ourselves how to eat the stuff we fancy like "normal" folk?

I am actively trying to do this and still losing. If I crave something I try it and find I end up eating a small portion only - it satisfies the craving and stops me feeling deprived and on a diet.

I know we are all different, just sharing my experience x

I wonder if just calculated on weight loss % month by month?
I hate the uncertainty of how I will be carrying on at this dose.
I am hoping just my hormones making it difficult right now but I think finding the sweet spot in MJ where you have good suppression, weight loss and minimal side effects is more tricky than I initially thought.

I was considering getting a diabetes syringe and using some of the extra to boost my dosage.
Anyone else done this?

tinyemmy · 30/04/2025 09:47

Just checking in here!
Last weigh in of pen 4 today and I've lost another 2lbs, which brings the total weigh in to:
P1 2.5mg 10.6lbs (included skiing holiday)
P2 5mg 9.8lbs
P3 5mg 8.8lbs
P4 5mg 7.8lbs (away for Easter)
I've lost 2 stone 9lbs on mj, 23% of my bodyweight and BMI is now 23! 🙌

I jabbed my first 2.5mg today, hopefully I still have some suppression as I still want to lose 5lbs in the next 3 weeks before I go on holiday!! I then hope to maintain (likely to put a bit on when away!!)

Dosediary graph seems to think the amount of mj will go up a bit so a bit like titrating down as I was worried about dropping from 5 to 2.5 without an interim step, but also looking forward to finishing more meals and maybe looking forward to more meals? I really struggle with choosing what to eat as I just don't fancy anything!

They have just confirmed to me that my next pen will also be another 5mg. I asked to go up as I am noticing less suppression, but they said because I have lost more than 2kg in a month they won't increase the dosage. I guess it's fine to be now losing at a slower rate now I am less overweight, but they do seem to be anti going up dosage.

I am considering doing maybe 10 extra clicks per week and then using syringes to get the extra out.

bluesmartie83 · 30/04/2025 12:58

So crazily enough I have lost almost 3lbs this week! Go figure. I think my disappointment with maintaining kickstarted me to be more mindful where maybe I had really not eaten as well as I should have! I am in week 2 of couch to 5k and I honestly feel that I just had a wobble but now I’m back on track all is rosy. I’m thinking I just needed the reality check. Filled in my questionnaire but didn’t leave any comments and happy to go with their opinion. I’m now down 2 stone 6lbs 😊 my clothes are now fitting much better and maybe another half a stone and I will be looking to buy a few new items especially if the sunny weather continues 🤞

If you do the extra clicks and find the scales moves again drink a pint of water before weighing in and wear heavy clothes so that they don’t falsely think the 5mg is still working and keep you on it again!

bluesmartie83 · 30/04/2025 17:49

I just got all excited to see the money had been taken the same day as my questionnaire only to read the email that explains they take the money before they review your progress? When did that start happening because I’ve never had that before? Always been at the same time as the prescription issued.
