I have a walking pad but yes all those videos showing people using it while typing are fake. You also can't use it on Teams calls, you'll look like you're jumping all over the place. I do use it sometimes when working but only when I need to be in some long meeting without camera.

Newshoesnewname · 24/02/2025 05:53

I use mine while working 😂 the only thing I find is using the mouse is slightly challenging so I try to use the keyboard as much as possible to select things or position the cursor.

stilllovingmysleep · 24/02/2025 08:04

@HeavyHeidi @NothankyouNigel @Newshoesnewname thanks SO much for the treadmill tips. Both the ones suggested on this thread aren't that massive (the wall mounted one seems bigger but still manageable). There's a price difference so the second one seems a best bet to start with at 100£ + rather than 800£ +. But one question about the second one, what's it like to not be holding onto anything?

HeavyHeidi · 24/02/2025 08:08

I don't have a handle on mine, hasn't been an issue. You just walk normally.

NothankyouNigel · 24/02/2025 08:13

@stilllovingmysleep well my first go was fairly comedic, gently culminating in the splits but really once I got the hang of it it was fine! I do position it next to something so in the rare occasion I need to steady myself I can.

DGonMJ · 24/02/2025 08:42

W8 D2 - on 3.33mg (6x2.5; 2x3.33)

Hit my milestone of exactly 70kg today! Could all change this week, esp with period due, but celebrating for now.
If I‘m still at this weight by the weekend I’ll give myself that maintenance calories day. Which is now 1881.

Seaitoverthere · 24/02/2025 08:48

I want to run again, started late 40s and found I loved it but I think running on a hip which had undiagnosed hip dysplasia hastened its demise and I want to try and prolong new hip’s life so sadly won’t be running again. Slowly to start with is definitely the key, the dog walkers all used to overtake me. I also did it for the feeling afterwards and used to think wtf am I doing when I was out at 6.30am.

Went up to 5mg on Friday and felt really sick on Saturday. Bit better from that now but think I have gone down with a bug or something.

Jins · 24/02/2025 09:14

I hate running, probably because I’ve never been able to run. My 100m record is 50m 😆

DH was a big fan of running but it took its toll on him and he’s had to have both ankles fused as there’s no cartilage left in a couple of places.

Swimming though! I could swim for hours. Sadly our local pool is closed for renovation and I haven’t found an alternative one that I like in a reasonable distance. Even the local one had its problems with lane swimming. So walking is my only real option at the moment as I’m not a gym person.

Nothing untoward to report after yesterday’s buffet challenge but it did sit heavily for the evening.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 24/02/2025 09:39

I did the couch to 5k programme and hated it! I so wanted to love it and get the ‘runners’ high’. I also hoped it would help me to lose weight.

I did an intense feeling of relief after each run that I didn’t have to do it the following day - I’m pretty sure that that was not a runners’ high though. And it made no difference to my weight - now I understand from reading lots of articles on it, that although exercise is great for lots of reasons, it has little or no impact on weight. So I needed to have a different motivation.

I have bought (but not yet used) some weights to avoid the muscle wastage I’ve read about.

HeavyHeidi · 24/02/2025 09:58

I count not do the 5K type of programs, as they all taught the run-walk method. Once I start walking, I will not start running again 😂
But the superslow run works. And slow runs - even long ones - are almost enjoyable.

I still much prefer lifting weights. No, they won't do much for calorie burn as such, I may burn 300 kcal per session, maybe 500 if I go really hard. Not difficult to eat it back. But having muscles is great! I really don't want a flat backside.

Beanie567 · 24/02/2025 10:11

Week 5 day 1 checking in. Stayed the same weight this week so I’ve gone from 1.25mg to 45 clicks. I may move up to the 2.5mg dose next week, depending on how this week goes.

The most frustrating thing fir me atm is my period has still not arrived! Over a week late! Not pregnant (checked more than once) and the usual pms symptoms seem to have faded off. I’m hoping it hasn’t decided to miss one and then come in double strength next month…

Re exercise, I’ve been trying to get out for decent walk each day and am considering buying a Les Mills subscription to use at home. Anyone else got one?

HeavyHeidi · 24/02/2025 10:17

I don't have a LesMills subscription, but I'm an instructor (I teach Bodypump, Combat, occasionally Attack, Grit and Core).

Thelittlestranger · 24/02/2025 10:51

WI today and lost 1.5lbs despite being away all week. Very pleased with that - I tracked and tried to keep within my cals but when not choosing your food as such I wasn't holding out much hope.

SW: 168.5lbs
CW: 149.5lbs
19lbs lost!

I'm now on week 9, and 4.6mg jab.

I used to love Les Mills Body Combat, but my knees don't...

Edited to add - I'm short by the way!

cloudjumper · 24/02/2025 11:20

Wondering if anyone here has gone up to the 7.5 mg dose yet, or is planning to? I've started to get the email reminders that I'm due to order the next pen... Still have another week on 5 mg, and then the bonus dose. Not sure what to do - suppression is still very strong on 5 mg, but will have to see how the next 2 weeks go. On 2.5 mg, that's when I experience a very noticeable dip in suppression. I have had almost no side effects so far, and I don't want to rock the boat!

cloudjumper · 24/02/2025 11:26

Reading all the posts about exercising with interest... I used to run aaaages ago, and I have been wondering if I should start again. Pros are that it's straightforward, doesn't require going anywhere, and doesn't need a lot of time. Cons are - I don't enjoy it! I love doing weights, give me that any time over cardio!😆I've done the C25K numerous times, and always stop when I reach the goal. But I'm looking to do something together with DS who wants to up his fitness levels, so running is a realistic option. Would need to get proper trainers, though!

Howinthehelldidthishappen · 24/02/2025 11:26

@cloudjumper I have the same left as you in my 5mg pen. I have a 7.5 in the fridge ready to go, but I'm pretty sure at the moment that I'll be counting clicks and staying on 5.

Upperroom · 24/02/2025 11:41

Wk6 Day1 here

just jabbed my second 5mg pen. Said I’d update -
It’s been half term and I have a stressful work thing this week so this could be why I’ve felt tired (plus I’m probably pre menstrual) but side effects were fine on the higher dose. So I can’t put the tiredness down to just MJ iyswim.

SW 12st ish
CW 10st 11lb (although yesterday I was 10.10!! 🥴)
GW 9st maybe!!

broccolini · 24/02/2025 11:49

I have one more 5mg jab & then the bonus dose, with 7.5 & 10 pens waiting in the fridge for me..
5mg going fine but not sure feeling it, so will move up to 7.5 & see how I feel. @cloudjumper
Weight loss okay so far, 10kg down, but most of that in first couple of weeks... I defo need to move more (hence attempting running again) & going to check out Caroline Girvan weights on YouTube later.
No side effects so far apart from 1 day of burping remedied with peppermint oil capsules.

Upperroom · 24/02/2025 11:49

So no big loss on my first week of 5mg… ? I’ve read on Reddit some people get on better with 7.5 and can plateau on 5mg?

Good to hear you're doing ok on 5! I am doing my first this week and slightly nervous. I've been very tired and lethargic recently but could put it down to stress too.

No big loss on 5 yet.. a slight wiggle maybe. am a bit meh, but perhaps too impatient for my own good.
Obvs a marathon not a sprint etc...

Thelittlestranger · 24/02/2025 11:56

@Upperroom we have very similar stats...👍

Agree, plus it’s still amazing I can’t ’give up’ - and I’m still eating very healthily. I too am impatient and worry the excitement of being lighter won’t come to fruition and I’ll somehow be suddenly overweight again and miserable this summer! 😭😅

Upperroom · 24/02/2025 11:58

I mean I still am overweight 😂 but you know I’d be more so….

Am very excited just about being 'overweight'... 😭
Atm it seems like a distant island shimmering over there, months from now 🏝️
