Just wondering if anyone has split a 5mg dose over two days to avoid side effects?
I have a 5mg pen and injected 3.75 the first week and had a few side effects but not too bad. Last week, I injected the full dose of 5mg and had bad side effects (diarrhoea and vomiting) on the first night but fine the rest of the week. Yesterday, I went back down to 3.75 and have had no problems so far… Wondering if I could then inject the remaining 1.25 today (5mg again this week).

I think that's a good idea, will make an appointment (il try to anyway - haven't been to the docs for years!)

You could plot your dosage on this website http://glp1plotter.com to see what it would look like if you added the remainder after only two days and see if it gets you to the same level as the previous 5mg did. You’ll need to plot all your previous doses first.

Hi, has anyone else had this….. took my first 5mg last Saturday no side effects. Took 2nd dose of 5mg last night and today have been in bed all day feeling so nauseous I’ve been sleeping all day too. Why didn’t I get any side effects on the first dose if 5mg? x

Howinthehelldidthishappen · 23/02/2025 16:24

I did a 15km run this morning. Which was an achievement as I've been ill for the last ten days, but I'm half marathon training and didn't want to miss any more sessions.
I found it a real struggle, it felt really hard.
But when I looked at my stats after I finished I was actually running a fair bit faster than normal, so makes total sense.
Running will never be easy for me, but it's always going to be easier not carrying around an extra 3 or 4 stone!

Yes, me. I took my first dose Friday before last and was ok, I've felt tired and lethargic since I started mid jan (I'm not sure if that's more to do with lack of food) but this weekend I've had nausea and diarrhoea and really felt quite ill yesterday. I waited until this morning to do the second jab. It's manageable though and I'm feeling hungry for dinner which I'm now going to go and finish cooking if I can drag myself off the sofa (feeling like having a nap after dinner - even though I slept for about 10 hours last night!)

It's weird how it's affecting everyone differently but I guess it might be to do with it building up in your system? But then again isn't it supposed to wear off after 5 days? I think someone on here said that. I'm losing weight though so as long as the side effects are manageable il be carrying on.

i cannot imagine ever being able to run 15 km. I can never break the 1 mile barrier! I just feel like I'm not built for running. My NDN runs ultra marathons and I am in awe of her!

Jins · 23/02/2025 16:41

DHs birthday today so a family pub crawl followed by Indian buffet was planned. I avoided some of the damage by driving and stuck to tandoori chicken and similar with a tiny bit of rice so hopefully the gain won’t be too huge. It’s the only time I’m glad to be coeliac as all the tempting appetisers are off my radar as people are always mixing serving spoons up.

It does build up in your system, especially if you move up a dose. Here’s a pic showing it building up in your system if you follow the standard 4x2.5mg, 4x5mg, 4x7.5mg dosing schedule 😊

Now that is something I wouldn't even want to attempt!
I like to have things to motivate me. So I booked three half marathon this year, with the aim of doing a bit better in each one!
I know, it's slightly mad 😆

HeavyHeidi · 23/02/2025 17:03

You can break the mile barrier - run slower. Slower than your normal working speed. This way, if you can walk a mile, you can run a mile.
This method took me from not being able to run 100m (seriously) to decent half marathon time. (I still hate running).

MananaMananaPenelope · 23/02/2025 17:09

Wow @DGonMJ I’m really surprised at that build up.

I’m sticking to 2.5mg tomorrow (5th dose), planning to go to 3.75 on the 7th and 8th if I don’t have too many side effects.

Happy birthday 🎂 @MummyInTheNecropolis & well done @Jins .

Dinner is in the oven here with half of the chicken in a pan as I’m cooking This for the fridge to eat on Tuesday evening. I’ll have to work out rough calories as I don’t think Ottolenghi cares for things like calories.

discoballv · 23/02/2025 17:15

I am in awe of the runners! I have never been able to run, even when I was a child. I've always felt like I am running through treacle. I highly suspect I am hyper mobile as my dd is and also struggles with running in the same way.

W5 D3 I am 0.8lb off losing a stone (I lost a few lbs in the week before starting which I have included in this, so almost a stone in around 6 weeks). It's been slower than others but I'm happy with my progress, and only have 1st 10 until my goal. I am looking forward to summer and potentially being able to wear whatever I want without stressing about wanting to cover up!

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 23/02/2025 17:18

I'm a runner too, a very heavy and very slow one, but I do it. I agree with @HeavyHeidi (who will need a new name at some point), you just need to run as slow as humanly possible!

Howinthehelldidthishappen · 23/02/2025 19:23

@discoballv I only started running when I hit 41! Never ever wanted to try it before.

And I'm the same as @HeavyHeidi I don't like running at all. BUT I absolutely love the feeling when I'm finished! And that's what keeps me going.

Pandora71 · 23/02/2025 19:32

Another slow runner here… Moving past my childhood hate of PE was the one of the best things I ever did!

Grecianrainbow · 23/02/2025 19:46

Slow runner here too. I’m always at the back of my running group. But I have actually come to love it and I miss it if I’m ill or injured. I’m hoping that when this excess 4st is gone then I’ll have naturally improved by virtue of less weight to carry along with m!

broccolini · 23/02/2025 19:55

Terrible runner here, I am very very slow.. I started properly in lockdown but never any got quicker. Same as @HeavyHeidi & @Howinthehelldidthishappen dislike it intensely, but love the feeling afterwards.

Tonight I have restarted c25k, & smashed the 1 minute run 💥

Slow runner here as well. I’m aiming to get back to 5k

TicTac80 · 23/02/2025 20:27

My god, 15k run and 10mile bike rides, plus the workouts!! You guys are awesome. I need to up my game. I can run (slowly)…well, plod (and I really mean plod, like at 4-5mph) along for 30mins to an hour. When this bisacodyl is out the system, I’ll do that too.

I think I need to pencil time in each day for an activity/exercise and actually stick with it!!

stilllovingmysleep · 23/02/2025 20:30

Started my 5mg on Friday evening, had massive suppression since then. Had a few symptoms this weekend - migraine in the early hours of Saturday morning and nausea after restaurant meal yesterday. This was even though I ate very little (left all my main and took it home packed), but had 1 piece focaccia, some olives and 1 glass white wine. Still, reacted as if I'd eaten a Christmas meal and up until late with the nausea. Lesson learned! I feel I can't tolerate alcohol in the first days after new dose. I'm not a big drinker anyway.

Today Sunday all good. Ate 3 very measured small healthy meals and with all left food behind.

So far so good! Really pleased suppression is back with a vengeance as the last 2-3 weeks on 2.5 I was stalled. (I took 2.5 for 6 weeks)

Snoopibird · 23/02/2025 22:00

I normally injection in my stomach. But today decided to try thigh. But I did inner not outer. Then read it shouldn't be done on the inner. Does it really matter?

It’s because you have more nerves in the inner thigh so more likely to hurt. Won’t do any harm don’t worry.

I did thigh first few times and stomach twice now. Think I’ll start a new dose on thigh and go to stomach when it starts to wane off…

Whoknowsnotmeshrug · 23/02/2025 22:13

I’m a terrible runner! Hurts my knee (I’m not even old!) I do 5km but it hurts afterwards! I did 45mons / 160 flights of stairs on the stay master earlier as well as some weight training so I’m not grumbling!

@MananaMananaPenelope do you have a full size treadmill or are there any small options that can fit into a small house ? Ideas ?

I got one similar to this Under desk walking pad and I just slide it under the sofa when not in use. It doesn’t have a rail so I position it next to the desk in case I need to hang on to something. Don’t know how anybody manages to use it when working though! I can just about coordinate walking while watching a video/TV.
