Week 7 day 5.

SW: 13 st 7
CW: 12 st 0

Had a two pound whoosh between Weds and Sunday. Hoping to get something starting with 11 by Weds.

I am thinking of changing my jabbing day. I’m floored the day after injecting (evening jabber) and even worse the day after that. Although I don’t want my weekends ruined, I need to be able to stay awake all day on a work day.

I am in my first 5mg pen and already have a 7.5 in the fridge. I will step up to that dose and see how I fare on it. If it knocks me out I’ll just inject less.

PP mentioned holidays. I have a BIG holiday coming up in May and I think I’ll probably have a few days break so that I have enough energy to enjoy everything (not a beach holiday) and can eat sensibly.

GrumpyMuleFan · 23/02/2025 09:21

@yomellamoHelly so glad the skiing went well. Thinking about it like that, most holidays and most of my socialising is one long food-fest. As you say, it all adds up Also really skews ‘the norm’ 😬😬

GrumpyMuleFan · 23/02/2025 09:34

myladyjane · 22/02/2025 09:38

@GrumpyMuleFan those revelations are useful aren't they.

I had similar around how I eat to manage stress. Lots of fast digested simple carbs for a quick dopamine hit. My idea of treat food now seems to have morphed into fruit salad (I love fruit so much. Except pears and blackcurrants).

I am very much trying to address more movement. I find it hard as I'm prone to minor injury and one of my main motivations for weight loss is to ease the pressure on my joints. I have dhs old smart watch which I find motivating but I struggle with getting movement into a very busy sedentary working day. I love outdoor swimming so counting down til my lake opens again in May and I am keen to find a yoga class I can commit to. Thinking hard about a walking pad too.

@myladyjane was thinking about your comments on stress yesterday. I’ve been tackling the beginning of the stress cycle in the last year, as it’s a rich seam for me 🤣🤣. I’ve made great progress on reducing the ‘head down/push through’ mode. But thinking it through, if we don’t manage the stress and dopamine raises/falls - it will still feel horrid and that’s the bit I want to eat over.

Have you read The Gap and The Gain? I listened on audio and do the three things every morning /pm. It’s about focussing on any gains towards your goals/aspirations and using that to make change. So in the morning you list 3 potential gains for the day. It’s just an idea, not a to-do. Then at night you write any three actual gains that you’re chuffed about and 3 potential gains for the next day. I just looked back at how I got myself through this stressy few weeks (work/long haul travel and then half term busyness). Most of my potential gains were about giving myself what I needed to fuel my day and rest, to help make tomorrow easy. It really helped me manage it all in a better way. Next I need to work on the coming out of it - that readjustment as dopamine drops. 💪🏽💪🏽

cloudjumper · 23/02/2025 10:23

Well, the skiing holiday is now over, and like @yomellamoHelly I also realised how much food these usually entail! However, I needn't have worried this time - not only did the mj do wonders, but also the food at our hotel was so utterly awful that even without the drug, I would have ended up in a calorie deficit! 🤣 It's a shame, as we really liked the resort, but apparently, the same company runs most hotels here, and the food is the same. So we're not sure we would come back (unless we do self catering...).
I'm curious about my weight, as there was no possibility to weigh this week.

TicTac80 · 23/02/2025 10:42

@MananaMananaPenelope yep it's a laxative. I don't use it very often at all, but I thought I'd better yesterday. Problem is that it's still sort of working this morning. So I've annoyingly had to cancel seeing my brother today (one hour drive away). Stupid me, I should have thought a bit more carefully about that!! Ah well, a day at home for me, and I will bloody use the exercise bike as it's only
30ft from the WC!

MananaMananaPenelope · 23/02/2025 10:49

Oh no @TicTac80 , that’s a shame. Honestly I would try magnesium citrate, I’ll carry on with my daily experiment 😂 and update.

I’ve been outside, freezing for two hours, just come in and had a piece of sourdough toast with sour cherry preserve, weighed my slice of bread for accuracy 🤣. 274 calories all in.

I’m off to do the next episode in my hiking series and then restorative yoga in the Caribbean, I wish!

myladyjane · 23/02/2025 10:51

@GrumpyMuleFan I will look out for that thank you. I have a high stress long hours job which I sometimes enjoy but I can't change as it's quite niche and we need my income. I struggle to say no to it enough and function on the edge of burnout quite a lot of the time.

In fact I worked all day yesterday just to catch up. Which is bad. And I need to stop. Dh did drag me out to walk to the shops. He says at my pace but he's a foot taller than me and even when he tries to slow down he fails so a walk with him is like a jog.

@HeavyHeidi would you consider trying 3.75 (45 clicks of a 5mg pen). I did that this week and felt a good load of suppression with no side effects. I will see how weigh in goes this week but at this rate I'm tempted to do at least one more on this.

I know many of you are in the edge of your seats to find out what's happening with my menstrual cycle. I think we may be almost there ladies - boobs are like bombs this morning and I spent an hour looking at trousers and then not buying any. This is my weirdest pmt symptom (the need to buy clothes which invariably look like shit as I have bought them with pmt) and I am hoping a sure sign it's on the move.....

MananaMananaPenelope · 23/02/2025 11:13

@myladyjane my job sounds similar, I’ve come to find my workplace toxic in the last couple of years. I’m very actively looking for something else (also niche). Single earner, just me and DC. Really struggling to find something that maintains my income level in the current job market.

In the last twelve months I’ve adopted a new position, I work 8-6:30 at the latest. I close down my computer and switch off my phone until the next day and I listen to a particular 10 min meditation when I get home. Nothing until the next working day.

I love my lifestyle and actually love my work, it’s the rest of it I hate.

Stress has a huge impact on our bodies and weight gain. I wouldn’t say I’m no longer stressed about work, but I’m a lot less stressed than I used to be.

HeavyHeidi · 23/02/2025 12:01

@myladyjane yes I'm happy to adjust and try different doses. I have both 2.5 and 5 in the fridge so will see towards the end of week how the suppression is.

Went to gym (touch of gym but mostly saunas) this morning with a friend and we both discussed how to get over the feeling that doing something for ourselves is indulgent and how not to feel guilty that we are not doing something more productive for the family. I think many women and especially mothers find it challenging.

HeavyHeidi · 23/02/2025 12:25

Oh and also noticed that my arms look definitely less ham-like already!

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 23/02/2025 12:54

Well done on the hammyness! I am similarly afflicted. I have what can only be described as a pouch of ham under my chin, I think its appearance will be worse with weight loss, sadly.

Saggyknickers · 23/02/2025 13:09

Ireolu · 23/02/2025 08:10

I did 2nd 5mg injection yesterday. I find the day of injection and after are the most effective in terms of reduced appetite. Hunger starts to come back near the end of the week just before I jab again. I struggled to eat yesterday. I shoved something down though. DH was concerned as he doesn't like a complete lack of calories. I think I'm gna stay on 5mg for month 3 at least and assess if I want to go up after. It takes away the enjoyment of food and that sucks. I am losing weight too so will stick for now.

I agree about the enjoyment of food being taken away. I went out for brunch yesterday and felt very nauseous - ordered eggs Benedict with bacon in a lovely local cafe thinking it would sort me out to eat something, then it came and I managed two mouthfuls.

Same at dinner, bought a lovely meal from Waitrose and managed two small stuffed mushrooms, half a chicken parmigiana breast and two mouthfuls of rice. I felt so nauseous yesterday and then had diarrhoea all evening. I haven't even jabbed 2nd lot of 5mg until today (usually do it on a Friday) as I felt too rough.

Losing the weight is great but it's frustrating not being able to enjoy what I do eat anymore. Lots of stuff tastes weird. Im hoping when I hit my goal il be able to then titrate down and find a comfortable dose where I can still enjoy food but don't overeat - that's the plan anyway.

MananaMananaPenelope · 23/02/2025 13:37

I’m now feeling hungry today, but it is cold outside and I got a bit cold earlier, jab day tomorrow.

Just had a protein yoghurt for lunch. I think I’m going to cook a roast chicken for dinner. I’ve got 700 cals left if I have 1200 today.

I think I’m still enjoying food tbh.

Hike and yoga completed 😇. Two day streak folks, two day streak.

Therealmetherealme · 23/02/2025 13:44

@MananaMananaPenelope I'm enjoying food as well. Calorie counting and feeling full are educating me on what a normal portion is and what I can eat over the week.

If I'm trying to lose weight (and I'm paying for it) then I know I have to adjust my eating. I'm willing to sacrifice some meals out, ready meals and takeaways until I've reached my goal and even then they will be Infrequent. The fact is I can't simply what I was eating before and lose weight.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 23/02/2025 13:45

I’m also still enjoying my food, but I’m enjoying different foods to before. I’ve gone off pasta and bread, they just make me feel uncomfortably full. Also gone off anything sweet which I’m actually delighted about as a former chocoholic! I still really enjoy my dinner every night though, I have meat with potatoes or rice and veg but I try to use lots of herbs and spices and make nice sauces to go with them. It did take me a while to learn to listen to my body and eat the foods that were appealing and didn’t leave me feeling bloated or nauseous.

It’s my birthday today and I’m off to my sisters for a roast dinner with the family which I’m really looking forward to. Planning to eat a bit of everything just in much smaller quantities than before!

BlueLimes · 23/02/2025 13:52

Whoknowsnotmeshrug · 23/02/2025 08:33

It seems to take me a little while for my injection to kick in. I inject on a Friday and start to feel it properly by Monday. Not ideal as I want the suppression over the weekend but don’t want any nasty side effects at work hence Friday injection.

Do you take it before holiday? I’m die to go up to 5 just before I’m away with a group of children for the weekend and then fly to Spain on the Monday so I can’t decide what to do! It’s not till 5 weeks. Just trying to get my head around it.

I’d take it. It would be amazing to go away and not gain weight?

TicTac80 · 23/02/2025 13:54

I’m doing it guys. Finally got my arse out and on to exercise bike! Phew!! 25mins in and 5mins to go.

BlueLimes · 23/02/2025 14:01

@MananaMananaPenelope @myladyjane your job comments were familiar to me, such a tough balance.

@MummyInTheNecropolis happy birthday - enjoy your day.
@TicTac80 well done !!

We've been away for half term, I’ve definitely eaten more but not to my usual excess, hope the scales will be kind. I’m getting a bit frustrated with my lb losses when I’m eating so much less !!!

RosaBaby2 · 23/02/2025 14:16

unicornsaremagical · 23/02/2025 07:58

is anyone thinking of moving up to 7.5mg? Thinking to stay on 5 but worried i’m making a mistake and will regret it half way into the pen

I have just ordered 7.5mg, hoping to get bonus dose plus have a new 5mg pen too so will be another 5 weeks (week 13) I think.

5mg is much better for me, I still think about food all the time but when I think I can eat lots I then realise I can't, and the later in the day it gets the more difficult it becomes to eat.

I was unsure but I had referral credit and always panic that they will take it away so I don't like to leave it sat!

Boohoo76 · 23/02/2025 14:54

I’ve been quiet on here as I was away at a work conference last week staying in a posh hotel with three fancy meals a day included. The great news for me is that despite eating more than usual and having a bit too much to drink one evening, I didn’t put on any weight. I didn’t lose either but not putting on is a win for me. I had no desire to touch the pastries on the breakfast buffet!

Took my first 5mg pen yesterday. Had a bit of indigestion overnight which was fixed with Gaviscon. Feel fine today but not hungry at all. Had to force myself to eat a boiled egg salad at lunchtime.

Saggyknickers · 23/02/2025 15:20

MananaMananaPenelope
Roast chicken for us too today. Ive just forced down some fruit even though still feeling a bit nauseous and I'm now looking forward to dinner - just hope I can eat it!

MummyInTheNecropolis
Happy birthday 🥳

TicTac80
That's great - I've just been for a 40 min walk and I try to walk every day but it's very stormy here and it been difficult this week. I'm so tired that anything more seems impossible. I have started a couple of Caroline Girvan workouts and ended up only doing half as I felt too weak.
Ive just ordered some dumbbells from Amazon to try and inspire me. It's a vicious circle bc I know the lack of weight resistance training is probably meaning I'm losing muscle and it's making me weak but then it's a struggle to actually do it when you're feeling so feeble!

Im taking iron and vit D supplements and also the collagen powder. Is there anything else that would help low energy?

One NSV is that when I saw my friends on Friday rhey all commented that I'd lost weight and complimented me which was nice. I also had a bit of a workout dancing and doing karaoke in my friends living room 😆

HeavyHeidi · 23/02/2025 15:22

*Whoknowsnotmeshrug *yes I took it for holiday as well. And certainly enjoyed the holiday, just didn't over-eat or drink.

I'm still enjoying my food when I eat - but in much smaller quantities. And don't feel the need to snack on something each time I see any food. I always said I'm on seafood diet - see food, eat it!

HeavyHeidi · 23/02/2025 15:25

@Saggyknickers would be a good idea to get a blood test if you can. I had a massive B12 deficiency and supplements made a huge difference.

Thelittlestranger · 23/02/2025 15:27

@BlueLimes @myladyjane @MananaMananaPenelope another long hours worker here. In fact, being away last week long haul was with work - although I tagged two days on for some 'me' time. This injection stopped that being all about food...

@DGonMJ do you mean Caroline Girvan? I use her app - it means I don't have to think and just plug my way through it.

Have just jabbed and will do official WI tomorrow. I'm on today (although it's been very light) and flew back overnight.

Looking forward to some less rich meals and more exercise. Managed the gym twice and a 10 mile bike ride last week, so not bad at all.

Edited to add - I went for 55 clicks of a 5mg pen. Have been going up 5 clicks at a time...
