@GrumpyMuleFan
Middle Aged Man In Lycra is the acronym 😆

Aaah, thank you. Very applicable in our household 🤣🤣

I bought this one @TicTac80 but I now know that that's just one type of magnesium and there are several forms.

It might have been me re needing fewer calories as we get older, my consultant said it when I was moaning about the fact that I just couldn't lose weight post all the medication when I gained it. I don't really know where I am in the menopause journey, peri I guess. My cancer was gynae related and I thought I was through the other side, but no, everything returned six months after I stopped treatment. I'm 57 so the end must be in sight.

My job is thoroughly sedentary, no movement at all, I have to make myself get up and move now and then. I think I've gone off exercise in any form because I just couldn't do anything for the longest time. I seem to have developed a mental block.

Anyway, I am just about to find my trainers lol and do 'stepping into reality', all 24:34 minutes of it.

Cabinfever20 · 22/02/2025 12:13

@Jins. My Renpho scales arrived yesterday from Amazon but I can't seem to connect. Bluetooth on my iPad and iPhone isn't picking them up. I'll have to get one of my tech savvy daughters to try.

here’s some

MananaMananaPenelope · 22/02/2025 17:59

I think I bought those syringes too @Sunnydaysahead22 . Haven't used them yet as I binned my last pen after four doses.

Been on my treadmill - got a badge 🏆 ..... 1 workout in 2025 😂, onwards and upwards. I forgot how much I used to like Ifit. I find it really easy to navigate. Might do a resorative yoga session (a k a having a rest) later on.

stilllovingmysleep · 22/02/2025 19:33

@MananaMananaPenelope do you have a full size treadmill or are there any small options that can fit into a small house ? Ideas ?

Whoknowsnotmeshrug · 22/02/2025 19:36

I got my needles from UKMEDI but I didn’t think it was vertically sharp!

so far the golden dose seems to be exactly the same. Hope I don’t regret the 2.5 dose for a second month!

I ordered some of the scales you suggested and they arrive Monday! But I won’t weight myself till Friday and I hate weighing myself!

I tried Nordic waking today- was ok and a great calorie burner!

MananaMananaPenelope · 23/02/2025 06:49

This one, doesn’t incline but folds very small and goes up to 12kph. Seems sturdy. I’ve got a small spare bedroom with various exercise stuff in it atm, concept 2 rower and a bike as well as weights, kettlebells and all sorts of clobber I haven’t used for 30 months. Hoping to downsize this year so something will have to go.

I used to love Nordic walking @Whoknowsnotmeshrug , I live in a national park and there are a few groups here. I’d love to get back to it when I’m fitter and can manage the hills without expiring. I have to stop on a hill for a breather if I walk home from work right now.

Sneaky weigh in and I’m 10.5lbs down (despite feeling constipated 😬), first 💉 23rd Jan although I’m not sure of my exact weight on that day, only at the new year. Losertown predicts another 1lb off by 27th February. I’m finding my screenshot from losertown quite reassuring as a 🐢.

DGonMJ · 23/02/2025 07:36

W8 D1 going to do second dose of 3.33mg later this morning. Period due Thursday-ish so let’s see what happens on the scales.
For today:
SW 79.6kg
CW 70.4kg
GW 60-65kg

9.2kg lost in total - average of 1.3kg per week. NSV gone from 92cm waist to 77cm in 7 weeks.

@MananaMananaPenelope well done on the ifit badge! More of those to come!

unicornsaremagical · 23/02/2025 07:58

is anyone thinking of moving up to 7.5mg? Thinking to stay on 5 but worried i’m making a mistake and will regret it half way into the pen

unicornsaremagical · 23/02/2025 07:59

@DGonMJ Wow well done you! That many from your waist is impressive. I wish i took measurements to begin with but it honestly didn’t cross my mind. You must of dropped a dress size or two with that difference

HeavyHeidi · 23/02/2025 08:03

For sports, don't forget weights. Some dumbbells and kettlebell maybe, and you can get a decent exercise done even in 20-30 minutes.

I use an app called Foodvisor for tracking my calories - you take a photo of your actual meal and it calculates the calories and macros based on the portion size. It's eye-opening how inaccurately I would otherwise estimate my portion sizes. Yesterday DH made shakshuka, nice healthy food, right? I had a modest portion with 1 egg - still around 300 kcal. Before MJ, I would have taken a portion twice the size initially, and a second serving on top.

HeavyHeidi · 23/02/2025 08:04

@unicornsaremagical I'm still undecided about moving from 2.5 to 5. Will see how this last week goes, but may break open a 2.5 and inject an extra dose if it really seems to be losing the effect. Bit of a waste but then again, really like not having side effects.

unicornsaremagical · 23/02/2025 08:06

@HeavyHeidi maybe if you got the 5 because most places charge the same you could inject 2.5 and if you feel ready you’ve got 5 there without having to lose a dose? My side effects have died down after a week or so on 5

DGonMJ · 23/02/2025 08:09

@unicornsaremagical how have you found the 5mg dose? Is it working for you?

And yes I think I’ve gone down a dress size, in reality that means my clothes now fit comfortably rather than cutting off my blood supply at the waist. I have wide hips with my pear shape, so even though waist has gone down I still need a generous 14 (or a flared dress) in order to be able to sit down without seams straining!

Ireolu · 23/02/2025 08:10

I did 2nd 5mg injection yesterday. I find the day of injection and after are the most effective in terms of reduced appetite. Hunger starts to come back near the end of the week just before I jab again. I struggled to eat yesterday. I shoved something down though. DH was concerned as he doesn't like a complete lack of calories. I think I'm gna stay on 5mg for month 3 at least and assess if I want to go up after. It takes away the enjoyment of food and that sucks. I am losing weight too so will stick for now.

Whoknowsnotmeshrug · 23/02/2025 08:33

It seems to take me a little while for my injection to kick in. I inject on a Friday and start to feel it properly by Monday. Not ideal as I want the suppression over the weekend but don’t want any nasty side effects at work hence Friday injection.

Do you take it before holiday? I’m die to go up to 5 just before I’m away with a group of children for the weekend and then fly to Spain on the Monday so I can’t decide what to do! It’s not till 5 weeks. Just trying to get my head around it.

MananaMananaPenelope · 23/02/2025 08:42

@HeavyHeidi I hate weights, the kids use them not me. They don't interest me at all.

My aim is to get back to my rowing club if I can, if I could do it before the end of the autumn/start of winter I'd be delighted.

TicTac80 · 23/02/2025 08:44

Well guys, shamefully I did not use exercise bike or treadmill yesterday - to be fair I did take a bisacodyl, so that may have been a disaster if I did! I did have to run to town with (stroppy) DC2 as needed to get her some trainers for school. Think I will use exercise bike this morning. I’m heading to meet my brothers for lunch later (my eldest brother lives about an hour away). Last saw them both last month.

@DGonMJ that’s an amazing difference in waist measurement! I can’t remember when I measured myself last. I should do that again.

MananaMananaPenelope · 23/02/2025 08:51

@TicTac80 , I am sure that the magnesium citrate works loo wise, within 30 mins in a gentle way. Of course I need to try it for more than two days but that's the only change I can think of.

Is Bisacodyl a laxative?

GrumpyMuleFan · 23/02/2025 09:04

@DGonMJ incredible difference on your waist - that is amazing. Wish I’d measured too. I measured my waist this morning and going to start doing that weekly.

I got off my rear end yesterday and did 90 min dog walk and then Caroline’s Circuits beginner class. I shouldn’t be on beginner as started WT last summer, but have let it slide since Christmas. Plus it was my freebie class to see if I want to sign up. Anyone else do her classes?

unicornsaremagical · 23/02/2025 09:06

@DGonMJ 5mg has done wonders. 2.5 wore off so quickly for me, 5 lasts till end of day 6 mostly, i had alot of nausea and constipation for week1 of it but that’s died down now i want to stay with it for my next pen hopefully. I also have very wide hips i started at 16 and just fit in a 12 so i must have lost some inches

yomellamoHelly · 23/02/2025 09:10

Hi everyone. Was last on here having a wibble about dosage before going away skiing. (Ended up doing the 'golden dose' with a syringe.)
I really noticed how much food I was constantly surrounded by. Huge hotel breakfasts (which I have always loved.). Piled plateful of food at lunch. Back to another massive buffet mid afternoon. And then 5 courses (plus salad buffet before and cheese after if wanted) in the evening. Plus alcohol everywhere.
I feel like I was really restrained because I literally couldn't stuff myself like I've always done. (If I ate too much I got stomach ache and felt faintly sick. D&V afterwards one night. All very strange / new to me.)
But it's made me realise that over the last 10 years or so all my favourite holidays / nights out involve this kind of quantity of food. No wonder my weight has steadily ballooned over the last decade.
Going forward I need to get a better handle on how much I can eat at one of these kind of things and think about how I can do something different for fun. (Do lots of nice things, but it always starts or finishes with a feast.)
