I haven't had the sulphur burps but it's funny you should mention eggs @Saggyknickers as almost from the get-go they tasted funny to me and I haven't eaten them since 😢

The last time I had one (the only time on MJ!) I actually woke up in the middle of the night the disgusting taste in my mouth was so strong. I sat up in bed going "eurghh" and had to go and rinse my mouth out with mouthwash - it was foul and I'm sure it was the eggs. I had a salad yesterday with a boiled egg in it but gave the egg to dd 🤢

Its a shame as I could do with the protein and loved them before!

Did jab 9 today, a day early, as I'm off on holiday (yay!). Rather than take the pen with me (can be a slightly awkward country, medicine wise; think nurofen plus is a no-no!), I'm jabbing a day early and then a day later when I get back. Medex said that would be fine. Will be interesting to see how much suppression I have by the end of the holiday!

Weighed this morning at 14.1.6, so 2.4lbs off this week. Should have weighed myself after deforesting the legs 🤣

Hope you have a lovely night out @Saggyknickers and good company helps to lift your mood 🤗
Wishing all a good weekend 🥰

I’m eating loads of eggs and not had a single sulphur burp.

So funny how it affects us all differently.

Have a great holiday @mince3point14159265

Same I've eaten quite a few eggs and not linked those with the burps. I have had these sulphur burps a few times but doesn't bother me as I'm quite burpy anyway 😂

millenialmolly · 21/02/2025 19:00

@Saggyknickers no eggs today and quite a clean day of eating both yesterday and today, nothing super heavy. I've had sulphur burps for the odd day whilst on MJ and then it's completely gone away, doesn't seem to be triggered by any particular food- so random!

Thanks @MananaMananaPenelope I'm off out to the supermarket now anyway so will see if I can get some pepto bismol, hopefully it's not just Boots that sell it x

Whoknowsnotmeshrug · 21/02/2025 19:09

Hi, secret jabber here 😬

I’ve just taken my 5 dose. Yes, I totally did a “golden dose” aka used a needle to get that medication out there. Not sure what people’s feelings are on that…

Anyway, I lost 2.10 stone before I started from last Feb till Christmas and then 1 stone in the last 4 weeks.

My current weight is 15stone 9 and I want to review my options if I get down to 14 stone. I would still be overweight at that weight with a BMI of 28 but I’m 5ft 10 with giant feet and hands so that might look about right for me.

My goal is to be able to jog for longer and be in less pain on my paddle board.

Ive never been below my current weight before so let’s see how the next few weeks go.

Since I’ve had good losses in staying in 2.5 next month x

Lovetoridemybicycle · 21/02/2025 20:41

The kids have found my pen. Like so many others I thought it was safe from view underneath the carrots at the back of the fridge vegetable drawer.
They are now under pain of death to tell anyone

Whoknowsnotmeshrug · 21/02/2025 21:04

If they snitch- kick them out! 😆

My husband knows my deep dark secret. But that’s it!!! Ironically loads of ppl have asked me if I’m on the injections for the last year as I did a ridiculous diet last year and lost quite a bit. Hoping they don’t ask again as I’m not a very good liar!

stilllovingmysleep · 21/02/2025 21:49

Hi all, haven't updated for a while but have been following how everyone's doing. Things have been uneventful for me, last 2 weeks on 2.5 mg suppression was less. So today started on 5mg. No side effects so far 🤞

SW (10th Jan) 86.7 kgs BMI 29
CW 81.6 kgs BMI 27.3
GW 68 kgs

My loss has slowed down but still happy with taking it slow, and hopeful for 5mg. Will try to post more.

Gosh it's so difficult this dilemma, to tell or not to tell, and to whom. My pen is also in the fruit and veg drawer! 😅

stilllovingmysleep · 21/02/2025 21:55

@Whoknowsnotmeshrug I've decided the people I tell are: DH, my parents (who have been very supportive - in fact my dad's a doctor and he rates MJ highly).

Apart from that I will only tell overweight friends, I've decided IF they comment on my appearance (with the usual "you look well" kind of comment). I just feel with overweight friends it would be slightly gaslighting to tell them a lie. Plus it might normalise it for them.

With other (=thin) friends not a word. I just can't be bothered with any comments.

HeavyHeidi · 21/02/2025 22:14

I had 2 colleagues loudly discussing that OMG isn't it just so horrible, people using those drugs 'just' to lose weight.
Well, I will be slimmer than they very soon. Ha.

Oh for goodness sake, those comments!

on the one hand people believe we should just "eat less and move more" and "get that weight off" - as we know it's so easy, yet when we try to actually do just that it's still not good enough as it's "cheating"

Thelittlestranger · 21/02/2025 23:59

I fly home tomorrow and I'm very much looking forward to eating from my fridge.

Last night went to an amazing restaurant - but it was an 8 course tasting menu. So tiny portions, and I probably ate 5.5 of them. So. Full. And woke up 2 hours after going to sleep to relieve myself of it all. First time that had happened to me on this, and I can only think it was the richness of the food. Bleurgh. Ready for eggs (yes, I'm good with eggs) and sourdough toast with smoked salmon. My go to lunch at the moment...

I can only imagine how much I would have eaten and drunk if I hadn't been on WI. Proud of the most of the choices I have made, but given I am now on, it's unlikely I will have a loss this week. I'll be happy with no gain.

HeavyHeidi · 22/02/2025 06:49

for me, this drug is nothing short of a miracle. Since I was about 15, I have been either miserable because I'm on one diet or another, restricting my calories and constantly obsessing about what I can't eat. Or I've been miserable because I'm heavier than I want to be, look shit in my clothes, hate having my photo taken. Sprinkled with periods where I have dieted down to a slim size and briefly enjoy my life, but with the knowledge that weight will creep up again as soon as soon as I start eating a little more like a normal person.

unicornsaremagical · 22/02/2025 07:27

Cant believe my luck i’ve been having such great losses so far but have absolutely knackered my ankle running after my 5 year old and struggling to walk. Think I’ll be out of luck this week. To those who had constipation with mj how long did it last? and has anyone had it resolve on its own?

MananaMananaPenelope · 22/02/2025 08:16

@Lovetoridemybicycle oh no! I dread mine finding my pen. I bought a coloured plastic food box last week, it is still hidden under the vegetables. I just thought it was harder to stumble across in a plastic box.

I don’t discuss my other medication with DC and I don’t want to discuss this either. DC2 developed awful anxiety about my health when I had cancer which led to severe depression. Still takes meds and sees a consultant. Long may my pen stay hidden under the Cavolo Nero (because DC2 hates it). 🙏

I’ve had a couple of weird happenings on MJ and only realised that they’re 28 days apart this morning. I haven’t had a period for 224 days, but I have had lower backpain and a tiny tiny amount of bleeding on wiping - blink and you’d miss it levels. Could be a coincidence of course but it hasn’t happened before.

MananaMananaPenelope · 22/02/2025 08:24

@unicornsaremagical I’ve been taking psyllium husks but didn’t take them when I was away. I’m prone to constipation, it’s always been linked to phases of my menstrual cycle.

My body wouldn’t rectify it on its own.

I have read that magnesium citrate has a magical effect. I bought some to take if required but haven’t tried it yet.

GrumpyMuleFan · 22/02/2025 08:41

Morning all. I’ve lost 0.5lb this week and a bit frustrated as it was a lot more during week. I’m a daily weigher and it fluctuates, with no apparent reason. Sticking on 2.5 for jab 6 today.

I am laughing about the fridge exposees, but only as I’m the same. I would hate my family to find out. DH would make comments / judgements and I just don’t want to deal with those. Kids are much more difficult. I’m sure you will find the right words and ultimately they will be pleased that you are taking such positive steps for your health. I’m telling over weight friends and agree, seems really off not to.

Onwards and upwards.

GrumpyMuleFan · 22/02/2025 08:52

I had a v interesting insight yesterday. I have such a ‘pattern’ around busy periods and how I get back to equilibrium afterwards. They are what always have derailed and health regime. From Tuesday this week, a peak busy period time passed and I could catch up on work and life admin that I’d been neglecting. Plus some really early nights. I didn’t eat more.

But as the week went on I noticed I was feeling demotivated (about everything) and low energy. Plus the scale was going up. Yesterday I was craving junk food, but when I stopped and thought about it, realised that I wasn’t at all hungry. I just had a strong sensation that I ‘needed something’. I came home from work a bit early and read. Woke up feeling more normal.

Sorry for ramble but it’s the first time that I’ve really seen old food urges for what they are - nothing to do with hunger or recovering from a busy/stressful period. Just about me needing something else. Lord knows what I need 🥴🥴 People say this and I know it’s logically true, but the penny really dropped that comfort eating is so destructive and not a fix. This is one bad habit I def want to address.

Feeling so grateful for this drug. I would never have had that if it had just been about suppressing appetite. Also, I’m at my lowest weigh since October when we went on holiday. Thinking back that holiday was hard work as all day I was thinking about/negotiating with myself about what I could/should/did eat at the buffet. What a relief not to have all that chat.

GrumpyMuleFan · 22/02/2025 08:55

@MananaMananaPenelope I’ve taken magnesium for about 10 years as have similar digestive profile to you. I take this one as it has all the different types in it. 2 per night but maybe start on one.

GrumpyMuleFan · 22/02/2025 08:57

@unicornsaremagical gosh, that is such bad luck with your ankle. Hope it’s not too painful. See above post about magnm as it really sorts my constipation issues.
