10% of your body weight is fantastic @SteveHarringtonsHair !
Ive just done my first 5mg jab. The first 4 weeks have been pretty good, no real side effects apart from a couple of days of feeling really over-full.
SW 101kg
CW 95.9kg
GW 70kg

Just over 5kg lost in the first month, most in the first week but now averaging around half a kilo a week which is pretty respectable.

Jins · 21/02/2025 09:33

End of week 6 and 1.8lb lost taking me to a total loss of 8lb. Very happy with that. No change in sleep apnea still.

SW 11st 8lb
CW 10 st 11lb
GW 9st.

did the bonus dose yesterday. May go up to 3something next week, felt like suppression was waning a bit the past week.
Now looking into some fillers for face and turkey neck treatments I will need in a few months :D

Definitely thinking about having an anti-aging facial…hoping someone else rubbing cream onto my skin will magic away the jowls from my resting b-face!

Morning all, how's everyone doing? I'm Week 8, Day 1 (1st dose was 3rd Jan, so I think I'm right). Here are my stats as of this morning:

SW 76.2kg, BMI 28, fat 36.5%, water 43.6%, visceral fat 11, metabolic age 49 (I'm 44), subcut fat 32.9%.
CW 66.25kg, BMI 24.3, fat 33%, water 46%, visceral fat 7, metabolic age 46, subcut fat 30.2%.

I'm using Renpho scales to monitor all of that. Unsure of goal weight, probably 55-60kg (that's what I used to be after having kids)....but my main thing is to reduce fat %, ensure I have good muscle tone and increase water %. Current fat and sub cut fat % is in the "obese" range according to the scales, but I've read that visceral fat comes off first, before sub-cut and other fat.

I'm taking the 5mg dose, which seems to be doing the trick. Exercise went down the pan a bit this week as I've been knackered from work, but I'll get back up to scratch soon. Constipation is still a bit of a problem. Nausea not too bad. I eat what I fancy (mainly healthy stuff with the odd fakeaway), but only when I'm hungry, and I'm careful about portion size and stop when I'm full. I don't really snack, or fancy junk food and I've really increased the amount of water I drink. People at work are noticing the weight loss. There's a slow/steady 1-2lb loss each week. Weight does fluctuate but overall trajectory is down.

So far, so good really. I've promised myself not to buy any new clothing until I'm at my goal weight!!

I keep thinking, "oh I'll get up early, do a workout blah blah" but when I wake up, I'm bloody tired (either because of work or lovely peri symptoms) and just sleep. Or I think, "I'll do a workout when I get back from work", but again, I'm bloody knackered. It annoys me as I think back to a few years back when I used to get up early, do a good workout, shower, put in a long day at work (I worked FT as the breadwinner), head home, parent young DC, deal with twatty XH's antics and juggle a million plates. XH left, my dad died and peri hit all at the same damned time: I'm still working FT but I've not quite been the same, energy wise since. I've got an appointment with gynae about menopause and HRT next week, so I will ask about how best to address energy levels. I'm on 3 sprays of Lenzetto and one utrogestan a night. The HRT has helped a bit but nothing like I had hoped. Sorry, rant over!!

myladyjane · 21/02/2025 10:33

@MananaMananaPenelope pleased you had a good night and nothing too troubling.

@IBloodyLoveMyBlanket that was me last week. I did wonder if doing the bonus dose was a mistake although there were some effects

@Jins well done! Although disappointing abut the sleep apnea. I know I was looking forward to some of the health based benefits we hear so much about (it was a reduction in inflammation pain for me) but maybe just too early still?

I took 3.75 last night. Felt queasy pretty soon after. Woke up at 4 feeling properly sick. Weighed in and have stayed exactly the same from my last weigh in which was about 5 dss as us ago. A bit disappointing but I did eat more last week that I have been doing.

I also seem to have what I've been thinking is period pain but maybe is just stomach ache (although it's very low down). I was teary last night so maybe it's finally coming, who knows.

Jins · 21/02/2025 10:50

@TicTac80 that list of stats is so impressive that I’ve just ordered some renpho scales myself!

@myladyjane yes it’s probably too early for improvement in sleep apnea. I’ll know better when another stone comes off but realistically it’s probably an age thing rather than a weight thing. I shouldn’t complain - it got me qualifying for MJ

You’ve done amazingly well! And you’re at my goal weight! I read somewhere that body fat scales can only really measure the fat in the lower half of your body and to get a slightly more accurate read you’d need hand probes so the electric pulse can go through your whole body. This tracks for me as Renpho scales had me at between 34% fat but got tested at BUPA same day with foot and hand probes and it was 32%. Which means I likely hold more fat in lower half of body, I’m pear-shaped so this seems a likely theory!

TicTac80 · 21/02/2025 11:06

@DGonMJ I didn't know that (about the lower body/upper body thing)! Last year, I did a private health check thing and used the Renpho scales just before the appointment (I wanted to see how my scales compared with the one they used at the appointment). I had to fast before the appointment and it was a morning one, so not much chance for drinking a huge amount. It was pretty much spot on...though saying that, the scales at the appointment DIDN'T have a hand probe. I'd love to do a full on whole body scan thing to see exactly how much fat etc and where, but Im betting that would cost a bomb.

@Jins , I have the cheaper scales, not the super smart ones. I think I paid about £25 on amazon for them! They work well and it's a good way to see the overall trajectory for each of the stats, if that makes sense? I always thought I drank enough water but I wasn't. Now, I am and moving into a healthy range. I know daily weighing for some is not always good, but for me it's interesting to see the difference over the course of the week/month, and to spot any patterns in the fluctuations.

HeavyHeidi · 21/02/2025 11:18

My gym has the handheld probe scales, I may check them out next time.

Just saw a friend I had not seen for a month and the first thing she said was: you've lost weight!

I can fit into my 'normal' clothes again without being squeezed into a sausage. Not my 'skinny' clothes yet though. But may actually happen this time, differing from other weight loss attempts over the recent years.

Jins · 21/02/2025 11:52

@DGonMJ Noooo! Body fat scales only effective on the lower half? The part of my body that’s really not that overweight at all?

I’m as apple shaped as it’s possible to be. Size 10 trousers would fit as long as they were so low rise they were indecent. The top half however…. I don’t trust shop sizes and make most of my clothes so wouldn’t like to guess what size I’m in for shop bought but I know what I’m in for patterns. My ‘waist’ measures the same as my hips and between those two points there’s a much bigger measurement.

So the already high BF% could actually be even higher? I’m not letting myself go there.

Constantdieter · 21/02/2025 12:06

Don't tell me that about the Renpho scales, I have them too 😅
Just caught up, amazing losses, sorry about the sicknesses.

Had a lovely couple of days away with DH and DS's.
First night at the in laws and had a couple of wines, and she always makes small portions so happy with that! Kids and DH not so much 🤣
Last night stayed out and went to Wagamama, had the beef ramen but spend all evening feeling so full!
Stayed within cals but just felt really heavy in my tummy. We did eat quite late at 7.30 which possibly didn't help. We had an active day though swimming and clip n climb so burned a bit off.
Then a small fry up this morning at a premier inn so that'll be me for the day!

Weigh in day tomorrow and also due to go up to 5. Still debating that as I was 13lbs 6 down as of Wednesday morning, hoping I've hit my stone, but feeling as I currently do, highly unlikely!

I've also had AF for the last couple of days (fabulous timing having our own hotel room last night 🙃) so possibly a bit heavier with that too.

Talk to me about this maintenance thing with Oushk.
I'm with MedEx at the moment. Possibly only on it until end of May but don't want to ruin this, so maintenance would be amazing!

RosaBaby2 · 21/02/2025 12:14

Jab 8 today, second 5mg after 2 x 3.75mg, lost 3lbs this week. Really pleased. Total lost now 23lb, I've got a long way to go but I'm trying to remind myself that any loss is in the right direction.

Have gone over my calories a couple of days due to staying with family (grandad and his biscuit tin!)

HeavyHeidi · 21/02/2025 12:21

I don't seem to have any sweet tooth any more. Didn't have much before mj, but loved my shortbread, chocolate or ice cream. Now, tried to imagine what chocolate tastes like and bleurgh. Apple on the other hand, now that I could have.

Jins · 21/02/2025 12:23

@Constantdieter

It’s all here!

I’m hoping to go on the flex plan but it’s very early days so will keep all options open

Therealmetherealme · 21/02/2025 12:31

Thought I'd update I started 1st Jan (Wednesday) but my shot day has slipped to a Friday, so today I'll be having my 8th shot, but I can't decide between 3.75 and 5mg. I have food suppression and often really don't want to eat anything, but that reduces over the week. I have minimal side effects but enough to make me wary. Constipation is the regular issue.

We've been away this week and it's the first time I've relaxed what I'm eating but I still think I'm probably within a calorie deficit. So whereas I was losing around 3lb a week, this week it's less than 2lb. Next week will be the 2 month milestone so I'd love to be near the 2 stone loss marker.

SW 15 s 3.8
CW. 13 s 7.6
GW 12 s (although BMI would allow 9/10 stone as healthy).
Total loss so far 24 lbs (about 10kg) I think

I'm with MedExpress but starting to think about maintenance plans, it's mainly about price for me, I can't afford £150/£200 a month and don't plan to go above the 5mg dose. It has to be about changing habits, will power and long term goals.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 21/02/2025 12:40

@TicTac80 I do think there’s an argument for weighing every day. I get so despondent when I’ve barely lost any weight (like, erm, now!) that it sets my mood for the week. At least weighing more frequently doesn’t (necessarily) mean you’re miserable for a whole week.

I only get the chance to weigh two or three times a week, always on consecutive days, but I’d definitely weigh more frequently if I could.

W5 D5 total lost: 3.4lbs, average weekly loss: 0.3lb

Therealmetherealme · 21/02/2025 12:43

@RosaBaby2 @TicTac80 it looks like we started at similar times and have lost roughly the same amount!

I weigh twice a week, Wednesday (jab day) and Saturday. I find that works for me. I've always been a daily weigher but I can get quite disordered with it and end up weighing multiple times a day, so I'm trying to avoid that.

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 21/02/2025 06:46

This is strange, I feel I’ve lost about 80% of suppression on the bonus dose of 2.5. I wonder if I’ve defeated MJ with the amount of crap I’ve eaten these last few days.

I've felt the same the past week or so! I did my bonus dose yesterday which was 3.1mg and I'm going to start my 5mg next Wednesday. Willpower will have to see me through!!

MananaMananaPenelope · 21/02/2025 15:47

Amazing losses 😍. Well done everyone.

Just home from our overnight trip, I had two poached eggs, cremated grilled back bacon, watermelon and a plum in the hotel this morning. No adverse effects. Haven’t eaten bacon since MJ. I won’t eat again until dinner.

I treated myself to some foundation and really nice perfume. Honestly I’m going to go mad when I’m buying a size 14, but absolutely resolved to not buying a size 18 anything again!

I might weigh tomorrow 🤞. Jab day is Monday.

millenialmolly · 21/02/2025 17:30

Moved up to 5mg yesterday after 5 weeks of 2.5mg.

My god, the sulphur burps today have been next level 😂 feeling a bit nauseous too but nothing unmanageable. Been out for the day with the kids and these burps have just been 🤢 anyone got any advice?

MananaMananaPenelope · 21/02/2025 17:36

I haven't experienced it @millenialmolly, but I bought some Pepto-bismol yesterday just in case as that seems to be a cure for all/recommended on this thread and elsewhere.

I was thinking about my lack of stomach symptoms earlier as I fully expected them after being away. I still take omeprazole daily post chemo as it wreaked havoc on my system, I wonder if that is protecting me.

I did too. I lost half of my suppression 2 weeks in and on dose 5 it was like I'd taken nothing. Just means it's time to go up. I'm on my third dose of 5 and things are still good.

Saggyknickers · 21/02/2025 18:13

End of week 5 weigh in and another 3lbs down which I'm really pleased with. 15lbs altogether.

SW: 13.6
CW: 12.5
GW: 11 stone ish

Im not surprised though, I've only hit about 900 calories most days this week. I need to eat more but don't fancy anything much. If the 5mg is anything like 2.5 though Il have strong suppression the first couple of weeks and then it starts to wear off a bit. I bought an M & S Thai curry for dinner but can't face it and have had a banana and a bag of walkers baked crisps instead. Will try and have a sandwich later! Going to do second 5mg jab tonight.

Am eating quite a bit of fruit and drinking lots of herbal tea which seems to be keeping me regular. Only side effect is still tiredness but I don't know whether that's the MJ or lack of food.

Ive never lost weight this quickly and consistently before even when fasting and doing SW etc. My problem was always the weekend - I'd be "good" all week and then end up eating out and going OTT eating/drinking and then eating too many snacks at home. Jabbing on a Friday so I've got good suppression over the weekend is working really well at stopping that!

Supposed to be having a boozy girls night at a friend house later but I'm driving so I have an excuse not to drink. I really don't feel like it. Just wish I had a bit more energy, but the miserable weather really affects me too.

Have you eaten eggs by any chance? The only time I got the horrible sulphur taste was when I'd eaten eggs - haven't been able to face them since.
