I'm much better, thanks, @myladyjane . Back to normal (for MJ, at least). Definitely a lesson in keeping things quiet menu-wise.

2025istheyeari · 16/02/2025 17:37

Another one who loved MM, a repeat offender on F800 and lost weight very quickly but I got disheartened and missed carbs about 8 weeks in both times, and, surprise, surprise put all my weight back on!! I did take a lot from him though and still generally fast for 16 hours and eat full fat/high protein, what a wonderful man and sad loss.
I’m also going to shop around for the cheapest deal, at least until I’m
nearer goal. Would it be ok if I also use the Numan code @Upperroom ?
I’m still unsure whether to stick at 5 or go up to 7.5, I’ve got no symptoms using 5 and losing weight, but is the recommended trajectory to increase every 4 weeks? Does anyone know the cost for 7.5 with Numan?

thanks!

Had a huge NSV this morning! I have managed to put on a pair of brand new jeans that have been in my cupboard for I don't know how long in a size 14!!!! Didn't even struggle with the zip or button and they look great on me! Haven't stopped smiling all day 😁😁😁 I really must pay more attention to my shape rather than the number on the scales sometimes because it's clearly wrong 😂😂

@sociallydistained I found a code for 30% off at med express through something I have a subscription to which makes it £108 😵‍💫.

Not sure about Royal Mail/not being able to choose my date and I’ve got two pens waiting to go, but I’ll have a think about it.

Do they dispatch when they say they will?

They did for me yes. Medexpress has always been fast and efficient. Parcel doesn't require a signature. My order with pill sorted was also next day delivery but did require a signature!

So far my experience of switching has been really good and so worth it saving the money!

Well I've had a hellish few days! My first dose at 5mg was pretty rough with a couple of days of diarrhea and really sore stomach. Second dose at 5mg was totally fine, no notable side effects. Third dose was weds night. I had extreme d and v all of Thursday and Friday to the extent I called the GP for advice. Ate some toast on Saturday and only eating semi normally today. But my whole stomach area still hurts from all the muscle spasming. It was horrendous. I have lost 11lb in the last 4 days! But not a good way. So my dilemma over staying at 5 or moving up to 7.5 is over, because I'm going back to 2.5 for a while.

I'm just so nervous this has messed things up for me as it had been working so well and feels like my last real chance.

MananaMananaPenelope · 16/02/2025 19:23

That sounds rough @usethedata . Poor you. Don’t be downhearted though, hopefully you’ll be able to continue. What did your GP say?

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 16/02/2025 19:30

Also curious what the GP said. I've really struggled going up to 5 and quite sick this weekend. Really don't want it worse next weekend.

usethedata · 16/02/2025 20:09

Thanks @MananaMananaPenelope GP said if pain got worse and / or moved to upper abdomen to go to out of hours or even a&e if very bad. Concern being possible pancreatitis. It didn't though. She also said if diarrhea had not stopped by Monday to submit a stool sample (call was on Friday, it has now stopped). And she recommended dropping back to 2.5mg for a while. I was a bit nervous talking to the GP because of doing this privately, but she was very supportive.

usethedata · 16/02/2025 20:10

The first and third weeks on 5mg I injected my stomach. The middle week I injected my thigh and didn't have many side effects. I really don't know if that made a difference.

UnderandOverwhelmed · 16/02/2025 20:27

Can I ask, if you order through numan are you then signed up with them for automatic further pens? I'm tempted because of the discount but the non discount price is way higher than what I pay with simple

Bravo @RockyisMYRhino ! This happened to me last week too, and the feeling is sooo good.

Did my 8th shot today. Didn't have to read the instructions for the first time 😂 Went from 45 clicks of 5mg pen to 50 clicks - approx 4mg. Suppression still there last week, but in a different way. I was aware of needing to be careful with what I chose to eat, rather than completely off it. Which isn't a bad thing, but as I'm away this week I want to avoid reaching for what I shouldn't, so chose a small increase.

MananaMananaPenelope · 17/02/2025 08:53

@usethedata I’m glad your GP was supportive, hopefully you’re feeling a bit better today.

4th injection for me this morning. I think I’ve lost 4kg, but I wasn’t exactly sure of my weight on 23/1 when I started, only on 1/1. My weight does fluctuate though so we shall see what the next month brings - am sticking to 2.5 for my next pen.

Thats good isn’t it. I am just eating my usual food, mostly skipping a meal, but I used to do that anyway tbh. So other than that no difference in food.

usethedata · 17/02/2025 08:58

That is good yes. Seems sustainable. I'm improving but stomach still pretty tender. Dreading next injection day.

DGonMJ · 17/02/2025 09:06

W7 D2 3.33mg

I’m 24hours into the 3.33mg dose and attempting my new higher 1350 calorie daily limit. Managed to do hit it yesterday, even after feeling nauseous over lunchtime while out for a walk (first bout of nausea since starting MJ). Specifically chose the healthiest high protein meal I could find in M&S, then sat and ate it slowly, with water.
By the afternoon I was ready for a snack of peanut butter on seeded toast, and then by evening I was ready for dinner and ate my whole bowl of prawn and pea-pasta. I’m feeling much better on a bit more carbs, and have more energy this morning.

I also have DOMs from training on Saturday - which pleases me, as I’m back to building muscle again. God I hate rear-elevated split squats, but they do the job!

Am halfway through the Dr Hyman podcast, and it’s made me even more cautious about jumping too quickly to 5. I think everyone is so unique, and the dosing schedule of 4x2.5 then 4x5 then 4x7.5 is too broad. We all react so individually to different dose strength that it seems counterintuitive that prescribers can’t individualise treatments in more increments - and we’re left to do our own research on our own bodies. I know others will feel differently, and prefer to follow the standard dosing schedule as it’s had way more published research than smaller increments.

HeavyHeidi · 17/02/2025 09:35

I'm sure many of us recognize the issue. When do I want to go shopping and buy nice clothes? When I'm slimmer. It's no fun to buy clothes when I weigh more than I want to, and everything looks shit. Clothes chosen not because they are actually flattering, but for damage limitation.
Which of course results in having a massive wardrobe of clothes that are too small for me the majority of the time.
But now I have hope that I might be able to wear them again this summer!

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 17/02/2025 09:39

I have my eyes on the long term prize in terms of clothes, really hoping I can feel better in a swimming costume on holiday, and have nicer summer dress options.

I have the slight collywobbles about going up to 5, am going to do the bonus dose on Wed of my last 2.5, and my aim is to get through that without any intestinal hoohah.

GrumpyMuleFan · 17/02/2025 09:42

@HeavyHeidi ive been having the same dilemma. I love your expression ‘chosen for damage limitation’ - I can relate to that! I’ve only lost 10lb so far but already the difference in how my clothes feel/look, is a total joy. I’ve been mulling over what to do and I’m going to hold off shopping until I’m at/v near my goal weight. It will be a middle few months but what a joyous problem to have: clothes being too big! I have some really nice smaller things hidden away, and don’t want to waste money on bridging outfits.

Also, in the past, I’ve gone to buy clothes too early and come away from shops feeling fat and a bit deflated as the mirror/sizing reality doesn’t match how proud I feel.

I think you’re going to have to change your username soon 😀

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 17/02/2025 09:43

I’ve had bad headaches over the weekend culminating in a migraine. Difficult to say if it’s MJ as Saturday and Sunday would have been the final days of 2.5. Last night I had my first 5. It could just as easily not be MJ as I do suffer with headaches and migraine from time to time. Sod’s Law it’s when I cannot call in sick.

If the 2.5 was doing anything, I’d definitely have stuck there but in the first month I only lost 3lbs so definitely need to go up.

GrumpyMuleFan · 17/02/2025 09:47

@DGonMJ totally agree about the increments being too broad. Also felt really positive after listening to the podcast about how I got into this position and what an opportunity it is to change my health story. 💪🏽

I do better when I eat more - esp adding some carbs. I have more energy, don’t feel as sick and seem to loose weight.

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 17/02/2025 09:48

Anyone else think it's a shame you can't buy doses weekly? I'd love to be able to just try a dose out. I'm very much a conformist and I don't think I'll be doing any click counting to do bespoke dosing.

HeavyHeidi · 17/02/2025 09:53

@GrumpyMuleFan same here, I haven't lost that much but it's the best feeling to put something on and go: oh, it's a bit roomy! Makes such a difference, as opposed to feeling like a stuffed sausage.

GrumpyMuleFan · 17/02/2025 09:57

I call that ‘the badly packed parachute’ feeling. . . 🤣

Jins · 17/02/2025 10:04

Feeling a bit better after a sleepy and cold weekend after Friday’s 5mg jab. My smartwatch tells me I got 10 hrs 54 mins of sleep on Saturday and it usually underestimates. That’s between 2 and 3 times my usual amount.

However nausea has hit hard today as I woke to hear DH being violently sick 🤢. I’m in a separate room at the moment until my sleep apnea has been sorted which is lucky but I always feel sick when someone else is. He’s currently imprisoned in our room and en-suite and I’ve disinfected areas he’s been as both DSs work in the food industry and it’s a busy time for them.

MJalltheway · 17/02/2025 11:28

I have clothes packed away in various sizes so hopefully won't have to do much shopping until I get to goal weight. From past experience, I have to lose a LOT to change size though, I'm tall and broad so while it helps in that I don't look as overweight as I am (I don't think!), it also takes a long time to see any appreciable difference. Last time I lost a lot doing intermittent fasting, I'd lost at least 2 stone before anyone noticed- DH included!
This time I'm aiming for around a 4 stone loss I think. I weigh myself in kg now because the numbers mean nothing to me and I can avoid finding out how much I actually weigh in stone. 🫣
Had 2 meals out this weekend, one a curry with a couple of glasses of wine. Went fine, didn't choose particularly 'light' things, just didn't eat until I was stuffed full like I'd have done before. Weighed this morning and haven't put anything on over the weekend.
