@HeavyHeidi ,@MananaMananaPenelope my teen dds don't know either. They also don't know we have scales in the house again.

My issue is that despite my very best efforts, I've not been great at not showing them how my weight gets me down and I havent always role modelled the best behaviours to them.

Dh has evened this out really well. Dds are a healthy weight, naturally active and have the 'off' switch I totally lack. But I don't want to put weight higher up the agenda for them as it is. From what I can tell they don't really think about it and dd1 especially is very supportive both to me and one of her close friends who is a bit overweight but I just don't want them to think about it at all. I'd like them to eat less shit but that's about health and good teeth not weight.

Manana is it a problem if they know? If they're teens, they would hopefully be able to understand that it's just like any other medication, you wouldn't judge someone for taking thyroxine if their thyroid is not working properly, so what's the difference? Obesity is a disease and means our bodies are not working like healthy ones should be.

It isn't a conversation I want to have with one of them so my choice is not to discuss it with either of them.

ETA and that's why fasting works for me, they see me eating normal food with them in the evenings. We've just had smoked salmon and poached eggs on toast for brunch together. Next food for me will be dinner, some sort of stirfry with tons of veg, chicken and rice noodles.

myladyjane · 15/02/2025 12:50

Mine is in a garlic puree box at the back of the fridge behind the collection of half used jars.

No buggers going to look in there. Dh smuggled it in for me (he knows, he's a bit baffled as it doesn't equate to his experience but he's supportive in his own, befuddled way bless him). The girls do know I have some medication as they saw a box but I told them it was my vaginal oestrogen and that conversation swiftly ended.....

My DH is one of those naturally slim people (consistently 79 kilos and he's 6'4'') who can (and does) eat everything. Was he thrilled I am using medicine - not really, same thing that why do you need it, you're fine etc etc. But he has seen all my weight loss efforts through the years and he knows it's not because I'm just greedy and lazy - some years ago, I did a full half marathon training program over several months, and didn't lose any weight even then. He has seen how much happier I am when I'm slim.

But it finally clicked why I'm different when I described my food noise and that it's a constant struggle every minute of every day. Yes, I don't really eat junk or unhealthy foods, but healthy, nutritious food also has calories. He doesn't have food noise, he does not think about food unless it's mealtime. And now I feel like that as well.

I think I might have to stop :(

I had bad side effects when I moved up to 5mg so the second jab I tried 3.75. I was still pretty awful. Two days of feeling ‘poisoned’ is the best way to describe it. Then last night the most awful wind and sulphur burps, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a new hole in the ozone layer! 😓I’ve also just noticed I have some redness on the jab site from Wednesday, should I be worried?

im away next week and won’t be taking it with me, when I’m back I might go back and try 2.5mg again but I’m not sure my body can handle any higher.

Ive lost 16lbs in 5 1/2 weeks so I’ll be sad it won’t keep working for me

I had some redness on my injection site for my first jab (was about two days after the jab). It settled down and I haven’t had the same issue since.

W8D1 Jab 8 5mg done

SW: 15.13.0
CW: 14.4.0
Loss this week 2.8 lbs

Smidge more and it would have been under 200lbs! Darnit! 😂

Hair appointment up in town yesterday and had a mooch in Liberty's afterwards. Tried a dress on that I thought might be nice on holiday but was obviously trying to run before I could walk, as it looked like I was wearing a child's inflatable ring around my lower tummy. 😬😭 Unfortunately that's the place my weight goes on first and likely to come off last. Will have to invest in some new shapewear, I think!

Followed up with meeting DH for lunch at one of our favourite restaurants. My choice from the set menu was perfect: beetroot carpaccio followed by cod with spinach. And a delicious glass of white wine, obvs!

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend 🥰

@mince3point14159265 that sounds lovely and a lot more classy than my Wagamamas!

@HeavyHeidi my husband is pretty much the same. I was telling him about someone posting about the 'sigh' when it's too much effort to have another bite of a meal. I have watched him for years do this and I was over the moon now I've done similar and he finally got where i was coming from.

I really need to put my phone down and do something now!

HeavyHeidi · 15/02/2025 12:59

myladyjane weight and kids is such a minefield of a topic.
Luckily both my DC (pre-teens) are slim and very sporty. DC2 is built like me and I think could have tendency to put on weight if she wasn't so active, but at the moment, that has really not been an issue. But I try to avoid any weight related discussions and when they see me using my tracking apps, I have explained I want to make sure I get all the nutrients in, to be healthy and strong. Which is also not untrue.

I could have written this post!!
My DH is exactly the same.
He's really slim and drinks at the weekend and lost weight by Monday 🙈

@mince3point14159265 😍shopping! I can't wait to fit back into all my lovely size 12-14 clothes.

We're having a shopping trip/night away this week. I don't buy clothes atm, but obviously buy for the kids. I got a promo email from Nobody's Child today with a lovely summery pink dress that is the sort of thing I'd wear.

I was really really active before the big C, as well as a wardrobe full of nice clothes I've got tons of active clothes, really nice brands like Arc'teryx and stuff that I couldn't justify replacing/would cost a fortune to replace in larger sizes even if they went up to an 18, that I can't wear atm.

Fitting into my nice walking trousers will be a 🌟moment. I need this to happen by mid- June.

Hi everyone. Congratulations on all the great losses and commiserations on those experiencing nasty side effects. I've been very lucky and not had any side effects apart from feeling cold for a few weeks. I'm on week 7 and I did 2.5 for the second month as I was doing so well on it and eating healthily. Absolutely no food noise. I'm 5 feet tall, underactive thyroid, very sedentary and 69 years and my BMR is 1385. My calories are only around 600-800 a day but I eat healthily and feel quite satisfied after my meals. I lost 4lb week 1 and 3lb week 3 but apart from that it's only been 1lb a week. Not too unhappy with that but, going forward, I would like the odd week to be a better loss of at least 2lb. A question for those who have gone up to 5mg (I have one in the fridge ready for next month) did you find your weight losses were better on the 5mg dose despite eating the same amount of calories. I'm wondering if there is something in a higher dose that encourages a better weight loss quite apart from calorie counting. I know it's a marathon not a sprint and my losses have been quite good at 11lb over 6 weeks, but just asking out of interest.

unicornsaremagical · 15/02/2025 14:55

@Cabinfever20 i have around 700/800 calories a day, 2.5mg no side effects, i lost 6lbs each week 1&2, 4lb on week 3 and 1lb on week 4 so it definitely reduced as time went on even though i was eating the same and doing same exercise. i started 5mg over a week ago and have had mild side effects, i lost 5lbs in week 1 and ive lost 1lb 2 days in on week 2.

RosaBaby2 · 15/02/2025 15:34

Another with smaller losses here 20lb total over 6 weeks but just 1lb a week for the past 3.

Boohoo76 · 15/02/2025 15:35

I’m trying to do the bonus dose from a 2.5mg pen. Can someone help me with the calculation?

NorthernGirlie · 15/02/2025 15:47

I'm coming to the end of week 2. Had a drink (or 8) on a night out last night and threw up when I got home - Mounjaro and gin don't mix for me!

I was a bit gutted to have only dropped 3lb last week (started with pals who lost 10lb and 6lb on their first weigh)

But... I put a jacket on last night that's usually really snug and it fit really well so I'll take that win!

0.6 mls is 2.5mg.

Boohoo76 · 15/02/2025 16:09

BlueLimes · 15/02/2025 16:06

0.6 mls is 2.5mg.

Thanks. There is 0.75 in my syringe so that is slightly more than the 2.5mg. I happy with that as I don’t want to go straight up to 5mg.

0.6ml is 2.5mg dose.
There is 4.16mg of dose per 0.1ml, so if you get 0.7ml out you have 2.92mg

BlueLimes · 15/02/2025 16:12

@boohoo around 3.4mg in my head !

4.16 x 0.75 will be 3.12 👌

Perfect, thanks!! I am dreadful at maths 🤣

Therealmetherealme · 15/02/2025 17:16

@Laura7010 Injection site redness is nothing to worry about, I often have it. I think the only worry really is an increasing rash or pain.

cloudjumper · 15/02/2025 17:39

@Cabinfever20 If you change nothing else when you increase the dose, then your weight loss rate should stay the same. The level of suppression changes (usually), but everything else is down to the calorie deficit.

Constantdieter · 15/02/2025 17:42

Boohoo76 · 15/02/2025 16:22

Perfect, thanks!! I am dreadful at maths 🤣

I may not have typed it correctly but the result was correct 😆
I meant 0.416mg per 0.1ml 🙈

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 15/02/2025 17:56

Ugh, I have a very gurgly tum and lots of egg burps today. I must have overdone it yesterday.
