W6 D1 weigh day and jab day!
First dose from a 5mg pen. I took 3.75 as my suppression is good and I don't want to go up more quickly than needed.
SW 15st12lbs
CW 14st 12 lbs
1st Goal 14st 6lbs
Final Goal 12st
I feel absolutely fine. It really is magic! Went to KFC last night amd had a mini burger. Couldn't even finish my chips. I have been eating healthily and watching my protein but last night was just one of those things and I was pleased it didn't derail me.
Great to read everyone's successes 😀

Jins · 13/02/2025 08:40

Interesting to read about the various reasons why GLP-1 works. I really hope it’s replacing something I need and I just have to find the right dose as the idea of it just being an appetite suppressant is rather depressing.

I’ve struggled with my weight most of my adult life apart from a 10 year period where I was slim and healthy and that was on Atkins. I’ve lost weight with Weightwatchers and similar but maintenance failed because the maintenance level of calories or points was just too low to be sustainable. I’ve gained weight on straightforward calorie control diets as it really seems to matter where my calories come from.

I’m going up to 5mg tomorrow. I’ve lost 6lbs in 5 weeks and I think it’s time to move up as the scales have shifted very little this week. I’m losing motivation quicker than I’m losing weight 😆

W6 D2
SW: 14st 4lb
CW: 13st 2lb
TW: 10st 7lb

Took jab 2 of 5mg yesterday. Had horrible gastric side effects with first dose of 5mg last week: horrendous constipation on day 2, then shocking diarrhoea on day 3. Thankfully that seems to have settled down and no side effects so far since taking 2nd jab yesterday afternoon.

Have lost 1st 2lb in the first 5 weeks, which I’m delighted about and it has really felt fairly effortless so far. I do a lot of walking though, try to do 20k steps a day if I possibly can. Am going to gym 2/3 times a week but only to do about 35 mins on the cross-trainer abs a few weights for arms. That feels manageable without dreading going.

Last week, I had to stay away from home for a few nights for a family event and then had a visitor staying with me for a couple of nights too. That all put my meals off kilter as I had to eat out and also had to cook nice meals for my visitor and take her for tea and cake etc. However, my appetite was greatly diminished so don’t think that made too much difference and still lost 2lbs in the week.

Food-wise, I’m starting most days with either porridge or a home-made smoothie with frozen berries, half a banana, soya milk or juice, and I always throw in a generous dessert spoon of linseeds. Have found that I’m not hungry for lunch or might want a slice of toast and a piece of fruit. For dinner, I’ll have whatever I fancy but a MUCH smaller portion than I previously would have had. I rarely finish it. I made a pasta dish the other evening and could only manage about 6/7 spoonfuls.

Rarely snacking now, whereas before Mounjaro, crisps and chocolate were my downfall. I will occasionally still have a biscuit or a few squares of chocolate as an afternoon pick-me-up but in the past, would have polished off a whole bar or half the pack of biscuits.

Turning off the food noise has been key, I’m not thinking about food all the time and I’m certainly not feeling hungry or like I’m denying myself.

So far, so good. I can’t say I notice the weight loss much yet, but did have to use a belt on my jeans yesterday, which was nice!

DGonMJ · 13/02/2025 09:13

W6 D5 on 2.5mg and I’ve gone up and back down on the scales but essentially have stayed the same. I’ve also trained heavy this week, and it’s ovulation time. And accidentally drinking less as my dry mouth has eased up. So I don’t want to jump to conclusions and go up a dose yet, but if I’m plateauing next week I think I’ll increase to 3-ish.

Clothes are fitting better. If this was a regular diet, I’d probably fall off the wagon at this point. But despite the plateau and easing of symptoms the mild appetite suppression is still keeping me from snacking and I’m within 1200. I’m enjoying food a bit more this week, which is nice and makes me feel like my old self.

I'm on W4 and have been going up and down for the past 2 weeks. I also would have got frustrated and given up previously but I think MJ is helping me stay on track as I don't fancy eating anything rubbish anyway. My clothes also feel looser despite the scales being stuck, which I can't get my head around!

Zempy · 13/02/2025 12:36

W6 D2 for me, I stepped up to 5mg on Tuesday night. Had moderate suppression yesterday but haven’t eaten a thing yet today.

Im going to try a protein yoghurt in a bit. Finally got the bloody scales to move!!

Went out for the most gorgeous meal with DH last night 😍
I've had zero appetite so he's been careful with me, but I said as long as it was meat based for protein I'd be OK.
Cue Miller and Carter Valentine's sharer 🤣
He's never been and I've only been once before and it was beautiful.
I ate possibly 1/3 of the meat him 2/3, only a few fries, ate half the greens, small lobster tail half, but the beef mac cheese, OMG!
Anyway logged my cals and still 'only' did 2200 total and 'only' 0.8 of a lbs heavier today 😅
So worth it.
I wasn't expecting to eat so much!
I'd been feeling a bit sickly at work yesterday as I'd eaten breaky which I don't often do.
We have a strenuous job (own a business together) and I knew yesterday would be a tough one so made sure I was ready, then nothing until dinner.
We don't 'do' Valentine's but took advantage of the menu, and we have a date night on a Wednesday.
Due to take fourth 2.5 jab on Saturday and weigh properly, but I've JUST eaten lunch and bar 5 coffees have had nothing else today and I'm full to the brim!

MissPobjoysPonies · 12/02/2025 23:25

So I’ve got 1 dose of 2.5mg left (2nd pen) but my suppression is definitely lowering and my weightloss has stagnated.

i was wondering if i could “attempt” to get an additional half dose (golden dose??) out of the last pen to make it 3.75mg before going up to 5mg. Has anyone done this?

Aren't you meant to use open pens within 30 days? If so you should throw the first one away unless I've mis read that?

Sorry meant the additional remnants kf rhe current pen that has the last dose and the “golden dose” so just thinking it might go to 3.75mg? I wouldn’t use it after 30 days :)

kathjee · 13/02/2025 17:00

@Seaitoverthere it defo needs to be used in a calorie deficit with MJ but u don't feel the hunger whilst ure on it. So if you were doing a cal deficit on its own ud feel hungry and possibly reach for 'unhealthy foods' or go over ur calories cos ure so hungry. It also reduces inflammation, so if certain foods cause that and hormones

I did mis read that then, sorry 🙈
If you have your needle ready I'd go for it.

I read somewhere if you don't click all the way (ie click one click back from 1), it let's you do the final dose and doesn't lock.
I'm on my first pen with the bonus next week so I'm going to try that this Saturday and click back one from 1.

MJalltheway · 13/02/2025 19:05

There's an interesting Zoe podcast episode about how/why semaglutide works.
Basically from memory, when you've been overweight for a while, that weight becomes your 'set point'. You can diet and successfully lose weight, but at some point your body 'rebels' against what it perceives as starvation when your weight is too far from your set point. Your body actually gets more efficient at processing calories when you have fewer so you need more and more of a calorie deficit to continue losing weight. And at the same time, your hunger levels increase more and more (something to do with Ghrelin, can't remember exactly the mechanism). So you crave more calories at exactly the point your body can process them really efficiently which leads to putting weight back on until you get back to your set point.
From what I remember, they said the only 2 things so far that have been able to disrupt this process are bariatric surgery and semaglutide. But they were saying that the expectation was you'd need to be on it for around 2 years to get full benefit from it. I think I've remembered most of that right!

tricky day for me today, W3D6 and the first day I've felt like snacking. I had a banana and some almonds but could very easily have tipped over into raiding some crisps/chocolate! Last 2.5mg jab tomorrow morning, I'll definitely be moving up next week. due to reorder from Voy but blimey, they are expensive! I really like the meal analysis they do though

Very interesting @MJalltheway , thank you! Does make a lot of sense unfortunately...

I tried that trick (59 clicks on my fourth dose) on my last pen, but unfortunately it didn't work.
I've seen somewhere that there are something like 260 clicks on the pens, 60 for each dose plus a few extra for priming, so that doesn't leave enough for a fifth dose. Best to be prepared for that eventuality. It's really easy to use a syringe to extract the last bit though, so have a look through the last thread and lots of linked places to buy the correct sized syringe. Also @MissPobjoysPonies most of us got about 0.7ml out as a bonus dose which equates to about 2.9mg.

DGonMJ · 13/02/2025 19:27

@MJalltheway that is interesting, so being on semaglutide for 2 years can break the set point? Meaning a better chance of maintaining when you come off?

I’ve just had my first real hungry moment since starting…and dinner won’t be ready for an hour. So I’ve guiltily eaten some buttered toast which will likely take me over my 1200 cals today. I’m trying v hard not to hate myself for not being able to hold out for an hour.

workingbalance · 13/02/2025 20:05

After tolerating moving up to 3.75mg last week with no issues, the second dose I took on Tuesday has unexpectedly floored me… Was throwing up through the night and have been completely wiped out today. Bit of a nightmare re timing as had 4 staff appraisals scheduled which I had to cancel as have hardly left my bed! Just didn’t expect it to hit this way after 6 doses with nothing much bothering me except the usual since the second dose. Ahhhhh! I’m hoping it was just a reaction to how absolutely exhausted I was after the 6 hours of intense appraisals I had done yesterday. Does anyone know or think tiredness etc can impact the drugs side effects?

One round of buttered toast isn't going to matter, just like one day of dieting doesn't make you thin! Most important is that you don't then think, sod it, and scoff the whole loaf (not that you could on MJ!)

discoballv · 13/02/2025 21:19

The set point thing is correct. I watched the Oprah YouTube special she did with a Dr from Yale who has been researching GLP-1 medication for the past 20 years and she spoke about this very thing. GLP-1's help your body push through that set point. There's a lot of science behind it which I struggle to explain but the way she explained it was really clear and made so much sense.

StrugglingSUPGirl · 13/02/2025 21:35

Started Jan 2nd at 13 stone 5.1lbs
Current weight (end of Wk6) 12 stone 2.1 lbs
Weight lost 17 Lbs ❤️❤️

So pleased with progress so far. Not sure of goal weight yet. Probably somewhere around 10 1/2 stone.

@MJalltheway and @discoballv

Really interesting and food for thought (which, luckily, is calorie free!)

W4 D4. No real effects either positive or negative on 2.5mg for me but only a few days before I try 5mg on for size. I’m hoping that whatever the science and/or magic, that it will click in for me at some point. Preferably soon. Oh, and 3lbs lost (in total).

cherrycherryblossom · 13/02/2025 23:14

Have had a total mare getting my hands on delivery of my 5mg pen. Somehow managed to miss the postie yesterday and parcel was returned to local delivery office for me to get today but would you believe they closed early due to a staffing issue. Going to have to catch them before work tomorrow. I would usually inject late on a Thursday night just before bed so not the end of the world waiting til tomorrow but it’s put me out of my routine!

Was thinking of just taking the extra dose from the 2.5 pen, but have definitely had more moments of feeling proper hungry this week and had psyched myself up for the 5, so I’ll wait til tomorrow to take it.

unicornsaremagical · 14/02/2025 07:05

Week 5 complete, 5mg made me feel more nauseas and tired but otherwise all fine, i’ve dropped another 5lbs bringing my total to 22lbs so far. Couldn’t be happier, mounjaro really has been a life saver. Well done to everyone on your losses and let’s keep it up

cherrycherryblossom · 14/02/2025 07:19

W5D1 (first 5mg dose will be taken a bit later this morning) and in week four I lost 4 lbs which I really wasn’t expecting. So that’s 1st 2lbs off in four weeks and well into the next stone category (haven’t been this light probably since a very young teenager).

SW - 13st
CW - 11st 12lbs
Total loss - 16lbs

Lovetoridemybicycle · 14/02/2025 08:03

My husband and one friend know I'm doing this, today my husband bought me sweets for valentine's day. Is that grounds for divorce🤣
(In mitigation, only a little pack, so I guess that'll be a little treat over a few days).
Day 1 week 5, just hit 5kg loss

Seaitoverthere · 14/02/2025 08:11

2.4lbs off this week. W8D1 and 10.4lb loss . Debating whether to go from 3 to 4mg or 5mg later, need to think on it a bit more.
