Thanks everyone

Hi everyone. Just checking in with an update. I started MJ in early July. Starting weight was 17stone 8lbs. My weight loss has been slow (compared to others losing 5-10lbs a week!!) but steady and over the past 30 weeks I have as of this morning hit a 5 stone weightloss - 70lbs gone!!!! Prior to weigh in this morning I had a 4 week plateau where I lost and gained the same 1lb over 4 weeks. I still have 20lbs to go until I hit my target which will put me at a BMI of 23. Weight loss is slower now averaging 4lb a pen now. So am hoping to be at target by June this year. I am on 15mg so the highest dose. I am insulin resistant and when not on MJ have issues with my fasting blood sugar so once at target weight I aim to reduce the dose down but expect to stay on a lower dose for as long as I can afford it to give my body the help it needs to deal with my blood sugar control. For anyone just starting - it is a marathon not a sprint and you will hit plateaus along the way which are frustrating but make sure you use the people on this thread to help you through the rough patches - this thread has been a brilliant inspiration and comfort to me along the way so thank you to all the regular posters xx

Jfw82 · 29/01/2025 20:59

Bit of a maybe odd one... I'm nearly 5 stone down and people seeing me are telling me how great j look but (1) am struggling to recognise it personally prob as I didn't acknowledge how I was the other way but (2) I don't want to talk about how I did it (7 months now so not quick ...) just struggling on how to respond now

Orangesandlemons77 · 29/01/2025 21:16

It would not be lying to say you are enjoying feeling fit and healthy and you have overhauled your diet- but anyway it is private you could just smile enigmatically and say thank you

Reginaphalangeeeee · 29/01/2025 21:40

Thank you @WeAllHaveWings for your inspiration and honesty.
I am 43 so have no idea what my bounce back ability will be. I know time will tell.

On the collengen (ancient and brave)-if I am honest because marketing good, I like the glass jar and had a discount.

As for the talc you mentioned, I already have that issue along pubic line of not careful.. gosh don't want it to get worse.

Glad to have got the thread chatting about the B shaped bellies today 😆
Next discussion boobs... who still has them?
What cup size have you changed to with weight loss?

Arglefraster · 29/01/2025 23:34

Checking in for B belly chat 🫡

My upper B stayed the same at first whilst the lower reduced which made me look rather pregnant but they seem to have levelled off again.
Previously without MJ my upper B always went first.

Yes to belly resting on thighs - it makes my lap smaller which is tricky when the damn kids keep growing...

Boobs are gigantic (L cup) & never seem to get smaller although they must have a little as PMT bloat is less noticeable as if there is a wee bit of space in the tissue- although I suppose that could be the anti inflammatory action?
Desperately hoping they get smaller though as the smaller the band the higher the cup & the harder to find!

InfoSecInTheCity · 29/01/2025 23:37

I still have boobs, somewhat less full and closer to my belly button than they used to be, but that could be age as much as anything else.

No idea on size, I've been firmly in the wireless zip up crop top bras for many years due to refusing to be uncomfortable, so mine come in S-XXL type sizing.

Arglefraster · 29/01/2025 23:39

Congratulations @Millymollymine 🎉

@Jfw82 I strongly suspect a big smile & thank you (& maybe "I feel great/healthier") then change the subject would be the smoothest way to move past (but I would really struggle to do it). So many things are easier if you can fake the confidence to shrug them off!
I'm sorry you don't feel/see the difference yet - do you have some photos/clothes that you could use to help your brain catch up to your success ?

This is incredible @WafflingDreamer well done. When did you start on MJ?

This is incredible @WafflingDreamer well done. When did you start on MJ?

I started 7th October originally injecting on a Monday but a few weeks ago I decided to switch and inject on a Thursday. I work nights at the weekend and minimal suppression + tiredness meant I was making some poorer choices especially as I'm often surrounded by food at work.

doodlydooo · 30/01/2025 07:20

Thank you @Darlinghag @WafflingDreamer @WeAllHaveWings and @Reginaphalangeeeee for the collagen recommendations. I met a pharmacist at a bridal shower a few years ago who was saying something about how collagen pills metabolise and she doesn't know how effective they are and it made me nervous about spending so much on them but I do feel like it's worth a shot.

Ditto feeling so empowered and motivated on MJ. It's completely revolutionised my life. I was horribly obsessed with food to the point where my weekend would be ruined if I couldn't get DD and DH out of the house in time to get to a restaurant for a meal or I'd have literal anxiety that I couldn't sit and savour food in case DD woke from her nap or my secret 4th meal of the day ordered on UberEats at midnight. I was a monster and I really feel for DH who put up with so many food related moods. I feel so freed from food... My entire personality was based on food.

About boobs - I stopped wearing proper sizes too but recently tried an old bra. Boobs still spill out of my 34C bra so I'm not there yet and band is still tight. Speaking of measurements, I measured hips, waist and upper arms (the area I always struggle to lose from) every 4 weeks and have noticed consistent losses everywhere except arms. I really need to up my diet (eat better and not hide in the safety that MJ has reduced appetite so am not eating properly) and exercise routines. I feel quite worried I'll ruin this progress if I don't work on habits from now.

Also edit to add how amazing your losses are @WafflingDreamer - we started roughly the same time too (12 Oct for me!) 😁

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 30/01/2025 08:22

@Reginaphalangeeeee My boobs are smaller but still very much there. With a total overall weight loss of just under 7st from my biggest (first stone lost pre MJ) I’ve gone from a slightly too small 40K to a 34K which is now getting a bit roomy so I’m probably now closer to a 32KK. So down three - four back sizes and four cup sizes (in equivalent sister sizes). They are still proportionately very big and although I’m grateful to them for feeding my babies they are a pain. The only cosmetic surgery I have ever seriously considered would be a breast reduction.

Massive boobs here too which seem to have got worse with peri and weight gain, hoping things might change but still seem huge.

I got a few of these soft sports bras in XXL in M&S the other day which seem to be good for around the house though. £12. I was pleased because they can often be expensive.

InfoSecInTheCity · 30/01/2025 08:28

I seem to have had a bit of a whoosh since Monday which is nice, let's see if it holds up for next Mondays weigh in.

DDs teacher has been singing the praises of a local HotPot restaurant so DD has asked to go this weekend, we like to give her the opportunity to try new things but she's going to hate it so I'm expecting an impromptu stop at a McDonalds that I'll need to resist. DD is a bit of a fussy eater so the chances of her chowing down on bits of meat bought to the table raw and cooked in hot soup at the table seems slim, but let's see how it goes 😀

Yes I have dreamt of being able to afford a breast reduction over the years - mine are currently about 40 something M 😔 Even at my smallest, many years ago, they were still sodding huge - but I'm hoping even just a small reduction due to weight loss will be a bit more comfortable, as I really struggle with breast at night - always wear a bralette - and I hate that they're just so 'there'...!

MooBaggage · 30/01/2025 08:43

oops - meant to say breast pain at night! I've had it checked out and it's just nerve pain rather than anything more sinister - so hopefully that will ease as they start to reduce..!

Darlinghag · 30/01/2025 09:09

I started at a 42D at a size 26, but when I started MJ worked down to a C cup - but i absolutely wasn’t that size, it was just what was comfy.

I am now a 38F - I’m wearing a 16-18 on top at the moment - the boobs or bust website is a great resource! I suspect I will need to remeasure soon though, as I have shrunk a bit!

boobs have shrunk, but not as much as I expected, not yet at least, there is time lol!

@WafflingDreamer congrats!!

NewbieMJ · 30/01/2025 10:10

May as well contribute in the all-about-the-boobs chat. I was always a size 38DD, but shot up to a 42E pre MJ and these bras are now loose and on the tightest hooks and straps, I bought the next size down, but they are a bit too tight, so making do at the moment.

Will be more than happy to see my boobs going down a bit. I am (or was lol) an hour glass shape, so be fine to get it all in proportion at some point. I also long to wear non-wired bras and realise in typing this, that would be a nice goal to set.

RobinEllacotStrike · 30/01/2025 10:29

B🥝🥝BS!

SilenceInside · 30/01/2025 10:39

My bras are a disaster zone atm! I have lost a lot from my chest, and I have been buying smaller sizes but I still don't think I've got the right size, and I keep getting smaller anyway. The larger ones (44D) I have on the tightest hooks and shortest straps. The smallest one I have is a 40B, and I think I have various sizes in between 44D and 40B. A very long time ago, when I was under 12 stone, I was a 34 or 36B, so maybe that's where I might end up. But that was 2 children ago!

RobinEllacotStrike · 30/01/2025 10:41

Right boobs!!! I was a 42G ish. I switched to Snag soft bras a while ago and they were supportive & super comfy but they are now all way too big, as are all my older underwire bras - the cups are massive on me now.

I'm mostly wearing bralette or yoga bra type things.

I did find an old bra in my mending pile the other day. It fits but I've no idea what size it is as the details wore off the tag. Its properly old but was always my fav when it fitted - it survived the purge despite being very tight for ages & then too small. Its good to have one proper bra to wear with dresses etc when I need a bit more lift/shape.

I'm still too busty to fit into most off the shelf woven dresses etc. without sizing up.

I am going to visit my familing in NZ at the end of March so I am holding off getting fitted for a new bra as long as possible, with a view to buying a properly fitted bra just before my trip.

Boobs themselves have deflated a bit. And dropped a bit. But I'm 57 so hey ho - not that bothered.

I'm a bit sad as I have several Manners London amazing dresses that I live in every summer and can wear bra free as they are snug across the boobs & supportive (they are desigend to be worn without a bra). They aren't cheap, but I don't think I can fit them anymore. Certainly by summer they will not fit. Perhaps I can alter them, or maybe my sister will fit them, or I can sell them on Vinted & put the ££ towards a dress in a smaller size.

Bras are a minefield aren't they?
One of the reasons I'm putting off buying one is that bra shopping is my least fav activity. I'll keep going with what I've got - like you a range of ill fitting bras in many sizes - until necessity forces me to shop for more.

In the next town there is apparently a great indie bra fitter and shop and I figure if I go to her I will minimise the trying on process.

RobinEllacotStrike · 30/01/2025 10:56

while we are on the chest region can we take a moment to appreciate emerging clavicles.

I have (had?) a massive double chin which is receeding, but my neck is now a bit of a mess of wobbly soft fat, wrinkly skin, and slowly emerging neck tendons. If my posture is good its OK, but otherwise my neck is a bit of a hot mess, but improving and shrinking all the time.

But my clavicles are incredible - they stand out now, and I can tap them - they are almost like musical instruments. I tap them like they are an emerging gateway to a new slimmer me 😁
