Morning gang, weigh in Saturday for me.

it’s a 0.8lb loss for me this week, taking me to 15st 8.6lbs. I’d hoped for a little more but it is what it is! I am doing the right things so it will pay off soon enough.

I’m 1.6lbs from my end of Jan (make goals monthly!) goal of 15st7 so I hope I can hit that in the next week or two!

Still got 6 weeks to my next proper goal, which is to be under 15st (even by 0.1lb!) by mid March.

I’m gonna keep listing the things that feel like successes or positives each week:

  • I am not getting up in the night to pee much now - fat not pressing into my bladder?
  • Tried two bras on - too big! Think I need to remeasure sooner than later.
  • I think I’m finally figuring out I don’t need to eat carbs at every meal on MJ and can still feel full. Raised eating a meat, a carb and a veg/salad at every meal and have started eatting steak/chicken and veg on high suppression days and its totally satisfying!
  • Missing summer so much this week, so brought back salads, premade ones from M&S that I chuck protein and some seasoning/dressing on. Appreciating them so much more on MJ!

Hope everyone has had a good week. Its a glorious sunny day so I am gonna get some steps in!!

I am not getting up in the night to pee much now - fat not pressing into my bladder?

I hadn't thought about this before, but same! I've had a few uninterrupted nights lately, which has been a very rare occurrence for the last 5 years or so. Who knew?!

I am having my month end clothes sort today, have gained quite a few things that were in the too small box and now have two large bags of too big stuff for Vinted and a shopping bag full for Salvation Army.

It's a lovely feeling but I am running out of too small stuff (fast approaching my smallest ever) so I'm buying the odd bargain in the next size down on Vinted to have something to look forward to.

morbidcuriosity · 01/02/2025 15:17

I'm asking this on a couple of threads, so apologies if you've read or already answered me..

Has anyone switched to oushk? . I want to as I need to choose a delivery day as finding it hard to be in when guessing when orders are approved etc.

My question is my last box (7.5) has Dec 29th order date on it, but I've not even started that pen yet, got my bonus dose to do then start it..
Will they let me order if the date goes much further, was gonna order now for delivery about 12th Feb . But then I don't actually need it till like 6 weeks from now. I used discounts etc that's why I have a full pen still and not ordered for a while..

WeAllHaveWings · 01/02/2025 15:42

Nice 3lb loss on my Saturday weigh in.

End of week - 32 (5 x 2.5mg, 27 x 3.75mg)
SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 15st 10lbs BMI 33.0
Losses (2024) - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1,4,0
Losses (2025) - 0,3,2,1,3
Total loss - 5st 9lbs (79lbs), 26.4%
Next Target 🎯- 14st 3lb by end June (BMI < 30, 100lbs lost, Onederland!)

I'm old school so don't usually do kgs, but anything for a milestone..........99.8kgs! 😁 @Darlinghag budge up a bit on that <100kgs bench!

Welcome to this weeks new starters!

@morbidcuriosity I have ordered early with Oushk (for Christmas) and late (as I do 6 weeks per pen just now) and they have never batted an eyelid. With your previous supplier do you have a website or email with your previous pen you could send them instead? Although I doubt it will be a problem. If you are wanting to order for a discount code that is expiring you can order now and set a delivery date in the future.

InfoSecInTheCity · 01/02/2025 15:48

The people noticing you are peeing less in the night may be experiencing the benefits of reduced blood sugar. If you have too much sugar in your body then your kidneys try to shift it by making more urine to filter it out. Peeing multiple times during the night is one of the symptoms of diabetes or pre-diabetes. It was also one of the first symptoms that disappeared when I went onto insulin, before I'd really lost any weight.

Crunchymum · 01/02/2025 16:02

Can I join?

I'm going to start Wegovy on Monday. I've already lost a stone but it took me from August - December (about 1lb a week) but it's just a miserable existence. I was absolutely starving, losing very little and still had all the "food noise". I need to try something else as conventional techniques just aren't working!!

I've got 4st 3lbs left to lose. Hoping Wegovy helps!!! I've just been informed almost everyone here uses Mounaro 😅

WeAllHaveWings · 01/02/2025 16:31

Welcome @Crunchymum !

Most people do seem to choose Mounjaro, Wegovy works for many too, and if it doesn't, or stops working after a while there is nothing to stop you then trying Mounjaro. I have seen some people switch from Wegovy to Mounjaro and also some from Mounjaro to Wegovy - either because the first one they tried wasn't working for them or the side effects were too unpleasant. The main thing is you are here and like the rest of us you are trying something that might just make all the difference.

Well done on your loss so far, and good luck!

gimmemounjaro · 01/02/2025 17:21

Thanks @InfoSecInTheCity that's really interesting. It would only ever be once a night for me but pretty much every night. I am waking up feeling so much better these days, especially after an uninterrupted night's sleep.

If you have audible I found this to be an interesting listen - it's free. She looks into all aspects of GLP meds, impacts & how they are changing society etc.

Morning all,
Due third injection this evening. Really pleased with progress and the 'feeling' but notice it wear off through the week. Does this still happen on bigger doses or more time once in your system?
.
Yesterday I over indulged a bit no where near my previous standards.

I had avo &egg on toast out for lunch, then in the evening sushi.... I was so full, bloated and uncomfortable all night 😩

Whist up I was thinking about some skin tags I have under my arms. I saw a post that this can be a sign of insulin resistance? There I was thinking it was caused by chub rub.

Anyone have/had these? Do they go with MJ or maybe just with weight loss?

Fedupdoc · 02/02/2025 08:37

Weigh day and lost nothing😭 so gutted
I’ve had some big losses so I know I won’t get that every week. But even a pound would have been nice

InfoSecInTheCity · 02/02/2025 08:45

My experience with skin tags is once they're there, they're there till you get rid of them. But I haven't had any new ones appear since getting my sugar under control.

The little ones you can remove yourself, loads of difference methods depending on your tolerance for them. You can get a pen type treatment that freezes them and then they fall off, band them with thread or a banding tool, or snip them off with nail scissors. Bigger ones you might need to pay to have removed, most GPs don't do it anymore. Used to be they'd do it with a little hot wire thing in the practice but now it's considered minor cosmetic surgery and not covered by NHS.

Orangesandlemons77 · 02/02/2025 08:52

I'm on the higher doses now and yes I do think it lasts the week, when on e.g. 5mg or 2.5 it was more just the first 2-3 days.

gimmemounjaro · 02/02/2025 09:18

Weigh day for me today:

SW: 241.2lbs / 17st 3 / 35.6 BMI
CW: 187.1lbs / 13st 5 / 27.6 BMI
GW: maybe 160ish, 11st 6

(GW is half a stone into healthy BMI, but also the threshold above which my provider will keep prescribing for another year or so. I might try hovering above it for a while and gradually reduce the dose).

This week -2.9lbs after a little slowdown in January. Sorted (I think) by calorie tracking, walking and drinking more water. I have also reduced my dose from 15mg to 10mg and feel a lot better for it.

Total loss = 54.1lbs / 3st 12
22.1% of starting weight, 66.8% to goal.

Next mini goals are 4st loss at 185lbs and then into the 12s at 181lbs 🤞

I am so happy to be where I am though, I wouldn't mind at all if this turns out to be my optimum weight.

WeAllHaveWings · 02/02/2025 10:44

@Reginaphalangeeeee I am 6 months in and still on a low 3.75mg dose. My food noise is still gone (I don't obsess thinking about food outside mealtimes), but my suppression (feeling full/eating small portions) at a meal comes and goes through the week. If I eat well one day I will be suppressed the next. If I have high suppression/much lower calories at the beginning of the week I feel hungry after a couple of days, if I satisfy that hunger on day 5 with healthy choices packed with consistent protein through the day and drink lots of water, suppression kicks back in on day 6. MJ is making me calorie cycle with higher and lower calorie days, but I keep in my calorie deficit over the week. It might just be me that is feeling this way, might be a bit of placebo effect, do you notice a pattern in eating vs suppression.

Skin tags can be caused by rubbing, insulin resistance or obesity. My skinny ds(21) gets them occasionally under his arms too. I believe if they were due to insulin resistance they would be in multiple areas. I have a few little ones down one side of my neck down onto my shoulder where I don't think there is excessive rubbing - if they were insulin related hopefully no new ones will appear, but not sure if they will disappear, especially if they were large, they probably need removed.

InfoSecInTheCity · 02/02/2025 10:47

Can't remember if I've ever shared this tip before but had it last night so figured I would now.

I love potatoes, especially Jacket and Roast, unfortunately the single highest sugar reading I've ever had by a really long way was after a jacket potato, so they're on my 'once in a blue moon' list now. However what I've discovered is that potato skin does not have the same effect, so when I'm making Roasties for DH and DD I hold back the peelings, spray them with a little spray oil and season them then air fry for a few minutes, it's really quick, about 5 mins depending on how moist the peelings started out.

Really low calorie and low carb, high fibre, full of flavour and that wonderful crispness you get with potato skin.

InfoSecInTheCity · 02/02/2025 10:56

@Reginaphalangeeeee and @WeAllHaveWings since being diagnosed with T2, I've discovered lots of signs I've had for years that I was insulin resistant and just didn't know about it. Things to look out for that that people might not know about.

-velvety textured/darker skin on underarms, top of thighs/groin and around crease of neck.
-skin tags especially around neck and groin

  • layer of fat around neck and at base of the back of your neck, can make it more difficult to sleep and make you snore
  • darkening of skin on your knuckles
  • bigger belly than is proportionate to your height and it feeling quite dense
  • swelling feet and ankles

These ones don't really show up on any of the symptoms checklists for some reason but are all signs that your blood sugar levels are too high.

WeAllHaveWings · 02/02/2025 11:09

Interesting @InfoSecInTheCity

-velvety textured/darker skin on underarms, top of thighs/groin and around crease of neck. - neck yes, don't see my groin often as stomach gets in way but when I have looked in mirror it is darker, I assumed menopause - perhaps not
-skin tags especially around neck and groin - yes to neck

  • layer of fat around neck and at base of the back of your neck, can make it more difficult to sleep and make you snore - yes to fatty bit at base of back of neck, was annoying, just thought it was usual fat. Just realised it is gone now, not sure when it went but haven't noticed it for a long time.
  • darkening of skin on your knuckles -no
  • bigger belly than is proportionate to your height and it feeling quite dense - don't think so, it is definitely not dense now! More like jello!
  • swelling feet and ankles - yes for the last couple of years, disappeared two weeks into Mounjaro

I had a couple of annual blood tests repeated as they wanted fasting bloods to recheck levels and if I was pre-diabetic, then said fasting bloods came back ok, perhaps I was borderline, they never said, it was just the receptionist feeding back.

InfoSecInTheCity · 02/02/2025 11:18

If you can see your HbA1c blood test results in the NhS app then diabetes is diagnosed at 6.5%/48 n/mol. Anything between 5.7 - 6.4% is considered pre-diabetes.

Mine was 11% when diagnosed so they didn't have to think too hard about putting me on insulin 😂

Been on MJ since Sept 5th and my latest result was 5.6% which puts me back in the normal range. MJ really is flipping amazing, my diabetes nurse was astounded at how effective it's been, she doesn't have many people taking it because it's not really standard yet, I got lucky and caught one of the hospital diabetes team on a good day when I asked if I could try it.

Guys the day after I inject my brain goes to mush

Can't work
Keep missing appointments
Getting times mixed up

I think I am only going to stay in this for three more months sadly

My work is suffering because of the two days of fatigue and the one day Brian mush

Nooooo👎👎👎🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

WeAllHaveWings · 02/02/2025 11:26

@InfoSecInTheCity I am in Scotland, we don't have the app NHS England uses here.

I too have had the skin tags but no new ones since starting MJ.

Fat layer at the base of the back of my neck - yes I had this and hated it. I noticed mine went fairly early on once I started MJ. I still reach around to feel how much better it feels now. Makes me happy to remember it's no longer there.

WeAllHaveWings · 02/02/2025 11:44

@hellohellooo you will hopefully find the fatigue lessens after a few more weeks and your body adjusts, it did for me.

Can you change your injection day so the worst of it is over the weekend until it settles down?

The usual advice does help with fatigue too - make sure it is not because your blood sugar is dropping too low on high suppression days by eating little and often (consistent protein throughout the day). If you can't eat snack on a few mixed nuts to up calories and give you some energy. Avoid foods that cause sugar crashes. Don't increase doses until it settles down. Keep well hydrated. Get outside for a walk and fresh air if you can.

@WeAllHaveWings This is exactly what I experience plus lack of sleep/ pmt mean higher calorie days too. I'm very keen to keep my dose as low as possible to keep the cycling as I'm hopeful it will stop my body adjusting to the lower calories too quickly as it has always done in the past.

@InfoSecInTheCity do you know the trick with potatoes with cooling them before heating them up to eat so they have more resistant starch too? Tbh I just love potato skins anyway - so much tastier than the inside!

Great ideas thank you

I am on this now since July

Hmmmm I don't know what to do if it continues

I really have done so well to give up
