Morning: what’s everyone having for breakfast?

im a bit bored of eggs now. It’s gotta be low carb.

mince3point14159265 · 07/02/2025 08:06

@millenialmolly have you had any real problems on 2.5? Do you feel you need more to maintain the suppression as your body is getting used to the drug? The 5mg is the same price as the 2.5mg so could always order that and then count clicks to get a lower dose until you feel ready to move up.

I'm on W6D6, first week of 5mg, and like Elanbridge, it's not been too bad this week. Have been feeling colder again and had a headache on Tuesday and a bit of a gripey stomach yesterday, but not too bad. Sipping peppermint tea really helps when my stomach feels like that, and the headache served to remind me that I need to drink lots more water!

I'm no help at all. I literally have porridge every single day, have done for many years.

@kmreeve no help unfortunately as I've been skipping breakfast! Like @MJalltheway I seem to have slipped into a 16:8 IF and no snacking routine which seems to be working for me.

I feel like I could skip all the meals, but trying to 3 small meals. I need to
as atm I’m only averaging 600-800 Cals a day, which is not good!!

I don’t eat meat and I don’t have dairy- so eating clean, with fish, eggs and veg means I’m struggling to get the cals. All the meals a small as any meal feels like a three course dinner in my stomach, so small an often seems better.

I was pleased with my 2lb loss this week but know you're supposed to weigh first thing really - and yesterday I weighed at 8pm as I had a 12hour work day. So I jumped on this morning and was AMAZED to see 18st6lb 4oz instead of 18st9 which is what I was last night.
So I'm even more glad I decided to stick with 2.5mg jab last night be because I've lost 5lb since last Friday.
Total loss 23lb
SW 20st5lb
CW 18st6lb

So close to 25% of my target total loss! Proper given me that Friday feeling this morning.

Wishing all of you good losses this week. I'm convinced that remembering to eat as close to my target calories of 1540 as I can since last Friday is what has made the difference this week. Last week I had days where I wasn't even hitting 1000 cals and no wonder I was getting hungry and irritable and body was clinging to weight probably because it had gone into starvation mode.

mince3point14159265 · 07/02/2025 08:26

@kmreeve that must be really hard. I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for cookbooks that are meat/dairy free that might give you inspiration so you can mix things up a bit?

Well done @Changingnameagain 25% of your target is brilliant 👏

@kmreeve
Breakfast suggestions:

  • smoked salmon and avo (I would have on toast, but maybe you could make keto bread with cauli?)
  • Greek yoghurt with berries, nuts and seeds
  • White bean dip and mushrooms on slice of rye sourdough (I mash cannellini beans and add lemon juice, cider vinegar, garlic powder and a little olive oil)
  • overnight oats with chia and nut butter - only use 25-30g of oats if you’re keeping low carb
Lovetoridemybicycle · 07/02/2025 08:32

Week 4 day 1, so 3 full weeks gone and 8lb down. It's been a lot of willpower the last few days but also I guess that's a good thing too, although 5mg is in the fridge ready to go. This is the stage I usually plateau and give up at, so fingers crossed this time I can move on through!
CW 316lb
TW no idea, I'll worry about that in 6 months time!

CurlsandCurves · 07/02/2025 08:37

@myladyjane sorry to hear about the scales. I’ve just had a sneaky midweek weigh this morning and I’m 3 down. But now I’m wishing I’d not seen it, in case it goes up by weigh day. Specially as I’ve got a party to go to this weekend.

I couldn’t weigh every day, it would mess with my head too much!

MananaMananaPenelope · 07/02/2025 08:37

Morning, I thought I would come back and update you all. I’m feeling better, is that the antibiotics or because it’s 8 days since MJ? No idea.

Blood tests were all as expected, slightly raised inflammation markers, still talking antibiotics and have two days left. The blood tests did not include liver function.

I spoke to Ouskh yesterday who said (more or less categorically) that a 2.5mg dose would not cause my symptoms. They were really helpful, listened and suggested that I try again in a week’s time, keep in touch and take electrolytes. Also advising not to skip breakfast, which I had been doing.

Not sure what I’ll do tbh.

myladyjane · 07/02/2025 08:50

Oh I make myself laugh. I think I have no suppression as I do get hungry and think about food when it gets to meal times.

But I have just spent 10 minutes opening and closing the fridge, ruling things out for breakfast. I've made myself a bowl of yoghurt fruit and a crumbled up gut stuff bar. Half my normal portion and I can't be arsed to eat it.

Can I do a shout out for the gut stuff bars btw. I get mine from Tesco. Compressed fruit seeds and nuts, quite small but quite tasty. No upf that I can see (if you care about this) and 10g of fibre per bar. I do often find I only eat half but I struggle with fibre and I like these.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 07/02/2025 09:03

Well, continuing the weight loss/dog analogy, I’ve probably lost less than the weight of hair that a Labrador sheds in a week. TOTAL for almost 3 weeks is less than 2lbs. Can’t help but feel despondent but plodding on regardless.

I haven’t really experienced suppression nor the stop of food chatter, but on the plus side, only some indigestion to contend with - which is very manageable.

@MananaMananaPenelope glad you’re feeling better.

mince3point14159265 · 07/02/2025 09:06

Glad you're feeling better @MananaMananaPenelope , hopefully it was something else upsetting your system and the antibiotics are sorting it.

It’s the end of week 4 and I’m yet to weigh in as it’s been a slow start after a late night. It’s been a funny old week on MJ from the cider and chips through to waking up starving hungry the last 3 mornings. i also hoovered up far more than I should have of the leftover Xmas chocolate.

Yet despite all this I seem to be on target for my best weekly loss so far

I don’t get much suppression at this stage but the food noise isn’t there so I’m having the space and time to understand how I respond to my food. Part of my problem has always been insulin resistance which is why I did so well on low carb in the past. That’s still there. I’m not particularly hungry until I’ve had a meal and then I’m hunting round looking for more. One sweet or a small square of dark chocolate won’t work for me.

mince3point14159265 · 07/02/2025 09:07

@kmreeve bit old skool, but kippers! Or maybe wait till the weather warms up and you can open all the windows! 😂

@Changingnameagain ive just read both your posts - congratulations on your weight loss! You are doing really, really well. You don’t need to rush - you’ve got this. Trust yourself and the process. 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

Im staying on 2.5 as feel it’s working and side effects manageable. Worst one for me is the cold.

TicTac80 · 07/02/2025 09:08

Morning all!! it's my day off :D

Weigh in this morning was a gain from yesterday but overall loss since last Friday (slightly annoying as yesterday was 67.9kg!*).

Last week: 69.48kg, BMI 25.5, fat 34.3%
This week: 68.65kg, BMI 25.2, fat 34%

From looking at the trend over past five weeks, I tend to have a bit of a whoosh of weight loss in the early part of the week (after taking the dose), and then that tails off in the latter part of the week. Not sure why, as I don't have an increase in what I eat. Last week, I did the 3.75mg dose (bonus dose in my first pen), so I have tried the 5mg dose today and will see how it goes. Hopefully I won't feel too crap - I'm working tomorrow. I'm eating a piece of veggie and bacon crustless quiche for breakfast this morning. Need to prep salad for this week too.

Exercise: not really done much this week - it's been nuts at work and I just want to hide on my sofa under a blanket when I'm home. Luckily, I do 15-20k steps each shift! I did cycle to work on Tuesday, which was lovely, but I am going to keep to decent weather (i.e. not pissing down with rain or blowing a gale, or icy!) for doing that.

*goes to show how much our weights can vary over the month, doesn't it? I'm not angling to lose insane amounts of weight quickly. A part of me is a bit impatient to be the weight I used to be (before all this gain over the years), but really I just want to get healthy again.

TicTac80 · 07/02/2025 09:14

@myladyjane , those gut bars sound good :) I need to increase my fibre and protein intake!

That’s strictly an Easter Sunday breakfast 🤣

SneakyLilNameChange · 07/02/2025 09:28

Hi All!
I injected my first dose up today- counted 45 clicks instead of a full 5mg as not quite brave enough yet. I actually gained this week, only 0.5kg but disappointed so hoping the dose up helps!
Well done to everyone so far!

MananaMananaPenelope · 07/02/2025 09:32

Thank you 🙏. I’ll rejoin if I take the plunge. Ouskh asked me if I suffered from anxiety 😳, err, no, my 39 degree+ temp and associated 140 bpm heart rate is not anxiety induced.

Fruit, nuts, honey and Greek yogurt- fills me up for ages and in five weeks lost 10 kg so must be working!

I'd love to try something like that, but I don't like honey and I can't have dairy 😂
So porridge it is!
