Just jumping in here for those who are looking at the next increase in dose - my experience so far...
2.5mg hit me super hard the first week to 10 days - all the side effects it seemed, pretty dire. Huge suppression but that also meant that I was feeling terrible from so little food so I ate what I could manage - really forced myself to. Weight loss happened but nothing that major - just a consistent small amount.
Then it all started to even out over the next 2 1/2 weeks - although still with enough suppression but in general I could feel my body getting use to the medication and the weight slowly coming off.
I am now on the 5mg but decided to just go to the 3.5mg dose and so far the suppression is good but thankfully with the side effects staying low (the usual dry mouth and being thirsty seem the main ones). So for those who are worried about the step up - in my experience (although at a lower does) it has been OK - it seems that your body does adjust...so relieved as those early days were rough.

Ohyay · 04/02/2025 22:47

For anyone moving upto 5mg I have just finished week 1 on 5mg and had no side effects at all.
Just offering some reassurance.

Current loss = 16lb

mince3point14159265 · 04/02/2025 22:59

I'm on first week of 5mg too and I've got the dry mouth today and pretty bad headache. Didn't last too long last month so hoping this will be the same. Feel fine other than that.

I’ve had 3mg this week and that definitely was enough and have felt a bit sick having had very few side effects on 2.5mg. Really glad I didn’t go straight to 5 as think I would have felt awful.

Scales going the wrong way so far this week but am definitely in calorie deficit so at some point I’m sure they will go down again.

Morning everyone. Has anyone flown with a Mounjaro pen and syringes/needles in their hand luggage. We are flying to France with EasyJet next month and were intending just to take hand luggage. I'll be away for two doses and will need syringes to get the bonus dose out.

Yes, you must take them in hand luggage. I just kept the pen, jabs and wipes all together and then kept it with the rest of my liquids. Make sure it's in the original box with the prescription label. It didn't even get pulled up and I was travelling with friends so worried I was going to get outed but I wasn't! I flew from Gatwick to Geneva and back again. In May I will be doing the same to Egypt. I may need to take a cool pack as it is likely to be higher than 30 when we arrived, but apparently this is allowed too!

Jins · 05/02/2025 07:55

@MananaMananaPenelope sorry to hear you’re having such a rough time but you’re doing the right thing in giving up. Hope everything settles quickly for you.

My 5mg pen has been dispatched and medexpress have accepted a screenshot I sent and price matched it. That’ll help a bit towards next month.

discoballv · 05/02/2025 08:03

I'm glad I have been weighing daily as my 'official' weigh in is today and I'm 3lbs heavier than I was on Sunday!

No idea why. I did have a slightly carbier meal on Monday and Tuesday (taco with bean chilli and potato frittata with salad) after eating very low carb/non processed since I started. That frittata has made me wake up feeling a bit heartburny so probably not the best, as it was a ready made one.

Anyway I am fine about it and trusting the process. Going to do my 3rd jab this evening 🙂

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 05/02/2025 08:12

When you say ‘hungry’ do you mean in your stomach, or just that you really want to eat? For me, these are often two different things. I’ve noticed on MJ that towards the end of each jab week I want to eat junk, but generally I’m only actually hungry if I don’t eat breakfast and it gets to about 1.30pm.

I’m on jab 3 today, and I think I’m going to go up to 5mg rather than stay at 2.5 when the pen is done, in the hope the effects last better for the whole week.

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 05/02/2025 08:14

I’ve no idea who I was responding to there! I’m sure I quoted someone! 😂

BreezyPeer · 05/02/2025 08:25

I'm weighing pretty much daily at the moment. Had my first daily gain today ☹️, logically I know its just natural fluctuations but I had got so used to a constant loss, day after day. Anyway, actual weigh day tomorrow so I'll see where I am then. Some great losses being reported!

UnderandOverwhelmed · 05/02/2025 08:43

Week 5 complete and just done my first dose of the 5mg pen, just 45 clicks as I don't think i need the full dose yet. I still feel hugely bloated and am now 10 days late on my period so who knows when that will resolve!

I only lost 1.2lbs this week, half the amount of prior weeks, but tbh I feel so hugely I thought I might have gained, so I'm very pleased I haven't.

UnderandOverwhelmed · 05/02/2025 08:46

I should say I did the bonus dose last week and got 3.5 out, so I'm moving up just slightly this week.

A loss today after gaining/STS this week. Like some others I’m a daily weigher. Feeling less tired in the evenings as coming to end of my period (which was not as heavy as it has been, but felt normal). Dry mouth gone, so not drinking as much and as a result have been a little constipated this week.

Nearly at the halfway point of hitting my first goal of 65kg. I expect it’ll take at least twice as long to lose the last half!

HeavyHeidi · 05/02/2025 09:27

For flying it's like any other medication, and medically necessary cool packs are also allowed.

timeformetolose · 05/02/2025 09:40

Second injection, I'm still finding it a bit scary to do, not because I'm scared of injections but more the worry of the unknown with side effects, did side effects ramp up for anyone in week 2? My main one is still feeling cold and suppression of appetite I lost 3lbs this week

cloudjumper · 05/02/2025 09:52

I was just about to ask the question about flying with the pen - we're going away over half term, and I was wondering how to transport it. Phew!

Weigh day today, and I have lost another kilo - that's now just over 6 kg (nearly 14 lbs) in 5 weeks - I'm happy with that trend! Sometimes I wish I would loose a bit faster, but 1 kg a week is a good trend. If this continues, I will be at an overweight BMI by the end of March, and get to my target weight by end of June/beginning of July 🙏

First dose of 5 mg last night, and I feel totally fine so far!

A stone in 5 weeks sounds incredibly good. I would love that rate of loss and don’t think you need to hanker after losing any faster - amazing progress!

Marvel4 · 05/02/2025 10:29

Hi all 👋
i am on my second try of MJ. I got ill on the first lot and stopped it and for up to 7.5mg. It worked as lost about 2 stone that I had put on during lockdown and peri menopause. Started at 13 st down to just below 11st. So 33 bmi down to 27. Took 2 stone for people to notice!! On coming off it took a long while for appetite to creep back up to be honest. I maintained for a good three months then had a bit of a hit health wise with other stuff and stress and started emotional eating again but only put on half stone so personally that’s a success!! Am back on it now. Saw nothing on 2.5mg whereas before that was my biggest loss. No suppression nothing and lost 1 lb in four weeks. Feeling different on 5mg and sick again but it’s manageable so will stick with it and see how I do. I don’t have much to go tbh maybe 1.5 stone as am 27 bmi with extra things that make weight loss difficult.
Tips I have:

  1. peppermint tea or a cheap gaviscon alternative is good for the repeating burps and sickness from other doses
  2. eat small and often and as healthy as you can. Sugar and carbs I found worsened the sickness plus it’s good practice to stop putting back on at the end.
  3. if feel sick finish eating earlier as I found it was worse about three hours after eating. So stop at 6pm.
good practices will stop any regain at end. I only did as had a bad stressful period and ignored how I felt so honestly you can eventually come off this and maintain.

@Marvel4 thank you for sharing your experience with the drug. Sorry to hear about the health issues but it sounds like you did fantastically well not to regain all the weight. It sounds like you have learnt how to cope well with life after MJ. Very encouraging for all of us to read, after so many dismal news reports!
Good luck with your 2nd go at this 🤞

For all those looking to travel with the pens, this company produces a wallet that can be activated with water and is reusable to keep your pen at optimal temperatures if travelling somewhere warm.
Can't remember if it has already been posted on this thread or if it was elsewhere, but thought it would be useful to post as everyone's starting to think about holidays! ☀️🕶️☀️

Hi I’ve just travelled to lanzarote with my pen, needles and swabs in a frio ice pack insulated case. Went in my hand luggage through Gatwick so didn’t have to take out of my bag.

Cabinfever20 · 05/02/2025 13:29

Thanks to all the people who replied regarding travelling with the pen and needles. Well done to everyone with big or small losses. Mine are quite small but I have been on Mounjaro for 5 weeks now and I'm finding it so easy and haven't had any side effects yet. Will probably stay on 2.5mg another month as it's still working well, although I have a 5mg pen in the fridge. On any other diet I would have caved by now.
