@myladyjane I also feels this disconnect between brain and body. Brain still is wired to seek comfort food but body cannot process it. Weird.

Laura7010 · 01/02/2025 17:53

A none scale victory day for me today!

Im wearing size 12 jeans!! 😱I HATE wearing jeans and mostly wear dresses but these are excellent fit and I actually felt
Comfortable.

Im on my 4th jab of 2.5 and lost 12lbs. Starting on 5mg jabs on Tuesday and hoping for not too many side effects

JoanCollinsDiva · 01/02/2025 18:07

Thankyou for the recipe MananaMananaPenelope
that looks delicious and healthy - I love chicken curries so will have a bash at that. Sounds like you regularly have a houseful like myself!

happy birthday! You should definitely have a treat, I think through this process we have to still have the odd thing we just enjoy for the taste rather than for the nutritional value/low calorie content otepherwise it will quickly become very miserable. From what I'm seeing on all the other boards many posters are saying their period and constipation really stall their loss. I bet after you've come on and had a 💩 you'll see a loss.

Weight loss isn't linear and I'm fully expecting to hit a point where I don't lose for a week or two.

Thanks for the protein advice SlimmingCavendish
I actually meant to get some ready cooked chicken legs at Waitrose earlier to snack on as I do enjoy a chicken leg and seems like it's a good, easy way to have a protein snack without resorting to the (imo) dreadful shakes and yoghurts. I forgot them of course but will order them with the big shop on Monday. I did however get some almonds and chia seeds to put in my cereal.

Well done on your loss and also all the other losers - please do keep us in the loop about how you're feeling on 5mg.

Like Snoopibird
im not really feeling hungry at all and am having to force myself to eat. Not sure whether it's going to be a good idea to move up to 5mg but il have to decide before I order my next pen - or maybe move up but only have half doses if it's too much.

It's so strange just not being interested in food. We went to a cafe that sells my absolute favourite cake earlier and Dh and I usually always share a slice but I couldn't even have a mouthful. Dh was looking a bit worried and keeps on about how i don't need to lose weight - I told him I'd lost 7lb so far (he thinks I'm just fasting again) and dd13 told him off and said "you should congratulate her on her achievement - it's mums body and mums choice" which gave me a giggle, she is turning into a proper little feminist!

lol @ being called losers, love it 😊

I did my first 5mg jab this morning at 10:30 however I only did the 45 clicks and went in at 3.75 mg.

I’ve had some nausea but nothing that has stopped me doing anything, head is a little bit woozy but in general I feel ok so far 😊

mince3point14159265 · 01/02/2025 19:13

Sorry you're having such a crap day @myladyjane . This time of year and the weather really doesn't help, but have you tried to get out and have a walk? Maybe some fresh air might help. I quite like listening to the Dish podcasts when I'm walking the dog. It's helpful when the weather is rubbish that there tends to be less people around in the park to witness a middle age fat woman laughing to herself! 😂

Hey team. Up to 3.75mg today too. It knocked me out for about three hours but I was able to enjoy a pint and packet of crisps (my weekly treat) with the rugby! Due to thinking I didn’t need to go up I am on a 2.5mg pen, so will finish pen/golden dose next week which I think will be around 3.9mg. Annoying cost wise but a lesson in complacent and thinking I was some kind of super responder on 2.5mg 😆

CurlsandCurves · 01/02/2025 20:13

Hi all, just checking in.
W1 day 5 and feeling good. For pretty much every meal I’ve left something on my plate which is unheard of for me. I actually get that ‘ok, I’m done’ feeling. Sweet tooth has gone too.

Next week I’m finally getting back into exercise. Gym twice a week for cardio and I’ve got a PT mate who Im going to see once hopefully twice a week. I love strength training so that’s a bonus.

Saturday night and DH is working. Just me and ds2 at home. I’m having steak, home made air fryer chips, tender stem broccoli and asparagus. Got a glass of wine on the go but that’s not doing it for me like it did pre jab. And I was never one who needed to be asked twice if I fancied a drink!

Have a great weekend.

Bellabluea · 01/02/2025 20:17

Evening! W4 D3 and definitely feeling the lack of suppression so I’m ready to move to 5. I went out last night and drank for the first time since I started. It was ok actually and I was able to have about 5/6 drinks then I felt really full so moved on to water.
I know 2 weeks ago I’d have struggled with one.
my loss isn’t amazing but I’m losing slowly and I’ve lost 3 inches from both my waist and hips. Im
only weighing about twice a week as daily gets me stressed!
I’ve been quite hungry today so I ended up having 3 Oreo’s which isn’t something I’d been doing before. I had a nice healthy breakfast and a protein pitta with vegan meat for lunch then a bit of pasta for dinner. Not a huge amount but more than usual.
Anyone else felt this on week 4?
SW 108kg
CW 103kg
GW 75-80Kg.

Zempy · 01/02/2025 20:19

I have had a weird day today. W4 D3 of 2.5

I have barely eaten anything. Started fine with a weetabix and had a protein yoghurt for lunch but couldn’t eat the chilli chicken with salad I had made for dinner. I felt physically hungry but I felt I couldn’t eat it and might be sick. Just don’t feel quite right.

So I have whacked a face pack on, and will shower and have an early night.

Big dog walk tomorrow which will hopefully reset me.

Bellabluea · 01/02/2025 20:28

I'm a bodypump instructor and honestly weights make such a difference. I have several people in their 70s coming to classes, they are in great shape and move like they're in their 20s.

I’m a body pump evangelist!! I do 2 classes a week and they’re so good for cardio plus strength training. I recommend them to everyone.

TicTac80 · 02/02/2025 00:09

Crikey, the 3.75mg dose makes a difference!! Couldn't face eating today (nausea), but then forced myself to do a lot of meal prep (two different soups, savoury mince, fakeaway "doner" kebab, and a ramen with veg and a bit of the doner kebab beef). I managed a small bowl of the ramen. Not great, as definitely haven't eaten enough today (and probably explains why I have felt so damned cold today!). Hopefully I'll feel better/less nauseous tomorrow.

I actually have some protein bagels so will do one of those tomorrow for breakfast with some egg and avocado. Assuming I don't feel too grim!! More meal prep tomorrow: spinach and coconut daal, and a mixed salad (maybe a nicoise style thing).

KenAdams · 02/02/2025 00:38

Hello, is it OK if I join? Bit late but just did my second jab. 4lbs off in week one which is huge for me!

thornbury · 02/02/2025 05:06

I heard this podcast over a year ago where the host talked about recognising when you feel full and listening for the 'sigh'. I never really noticed it before but I do now - It's that moment when you look at the food on your plate and on your fork and eating more of it seems like more effort than it's worth!

unicornsaremagical · 02/02/2025 06:41

@TicTac80 ive never heard of a protein bagel but this could be a great thing for me. Do they taste like normal ones? as i find protein products to have an awful taste normally.
I think my low calorie diet is going to have to change as i was losing really well but seem to have reached a plateau. Going to try upping my calories from 800 to maybe 1200 or try a zig zag diet and hope it helps. Well done to everyone’s incredible losses! Looking forward to seeing how people react to starting 5mg as i will be next week.

Changingnameagain · 02/02/2025 07:11

Feeling a bit despondent as my weight loss seems to have really plateaued. I am soopo regretting not going to 3.75 on my Thursday jab day. I'm a lot hungrier this week so far and despite sticking to my 1500 or lower, only having 1 small glass wine the entire weekend I've actually gained 1lb since Thursday. Absolutely moving to 3.75 on Thursday this coming week. I had a work event yesterday and was proud I opted for sweet potato curry instead of the sausage and mash for lunch. I did have a slice of roulade but didn't eat it all so I'm trying to see positives elsewhere whilst the scale aren't shifting.

MananaMananaPenelope · 02/02/2025 07:18

Hi @KenAdams 👋 we started at the same time I think. How are you feeling on it?

I feel less nauseous this morning and my lower backache is not as bad. Not sure I feel like eating but I’ll have a piece of toast if nothing else.

@JoanCollinsDiva the biryani was lovely ☺️, I made it with non dairy ingredients as someone has an allergy. I think it is quite healthy. I didn’t add the melted butter, I soaked the saffron in some warmed oat milk that I added a bit of lurpak plant based to it.

I felt better/less nauseous after eating.

TwinklyRoseTurtle · 02/02/2025 08:18

Morning all, week 2 D5 for me, lost 5lbs in my first week but I am doing it amongst a well known diet, I’m only weighing once a week so next weigh day Tuesday. I’ve had no further issues with the 2.5mg and I’ve ordered my 5mg pen along with needles for my ‘extra dose’. I do seem to find as others have said by the weekend which is day 3/4 my suppression is going and last night I’m ashamed to say I ate 3 slices of dominos pizza 😳 normally I could eat a whole medium one 🫣😳😳 so I suppose there is some suppression there 🤣. Next jab day is Tuesday for my 3rd dose so just going to try and eat lots of fruit and veg and protein, just telling myself I’m in it for the long haul ( at least 5 stone to lose ideally 7 ) x

Grecianrainbow · 02/02/2025 08:18

I’m plateaued too, into W5D3 but I also had my period start so I’m hoping it’s due to that. I really wanted to stay on 5mg for a while if I could.

unicornsaremagical · 02/02/2025 08:26

@Changingnameagain soemtimes i gain overnight and lose it by the next morning and i’ve been on a 800 cal diet with 90mins a day exercise. Could be bloating from something like salt or not going to the toilet etc. You’ll get back on track! i’m plateaued also so i know the disappointed feeling. Hopefully this week brings better luck, good luck on 3.75, i’m starting 5 in the week!

TicTac80 · 02/02/2025 08:32

Morning all! So much for my nice long lie in...I got jumped on by a very sweet but giant Maine Coon (my one!!) and he decided to make biscuits on me - very sweet, but a lie in would have been nice (I'm either up at 5am for work, or before 7am for days off if they happen to be school days).

@unicornsaremagical, I hadn't heard of them either, until the earlier on at the start of these threads!! I get the Warburton ones (Protein Thin Bagels). There's 8g of protein in a bagel, and 3g of fibre. 154cal per bagel. I like them. I would buy in protein wraps etc but they're so expensive and the kids would snaffle them in record time. These bagels aren't too costly.

After my post last night, I had a think about what I could do to ensure I'm getting more calories. I saw others mentioned smoothies, so I did a quick research into some recipes and found some that looked quite good (also had good protein and fibre content). I'll try and find the recipes and pop it on here.

timeformetolose · 02/02/2025 08:41

I love those protein bagels, they are really nice and would recommend them.

I slipped yesterday kcal wise on a night out with bad choices of drinks but feel motivated this morning and do not feel that normal craving with a hangover for lots of greasy or sweet food so thats a change.

I have a couple of nights out planned in the next month or so and hindsight I will now think about what I am going to drink as well as the food to help me stay on track. What is everyone else's experience with drinking? Have you had less when out?

DGonMJ · 02/02/2025 09:09

Week 5 Day 1 - Jab #5

Managed to force twist the pen to get the bonus dose. Plunger jammed halfway through, but got both thumbs on it and managed to get it down. There’s still a bit leftover but I’m leaving it as I’m staying on 2.5mg. New 2.5mg pen in the fridge for next week.

SW 79.6kg
CW 72.9kg (0.9kg loss this week)
GW 60-65kg

MananaMananaPenelope · 02/02/2025 09:10

I've never heard of protein bagels, I've just looked to see if I can add them onto my food order, Waitrose don't sell them.

I make this pearl barley risotto - that must be reasonably high protein. I don't add the feta due to a dairly allergy but it is nice without it with grilled chicken and a salad.

Ottolenghi's Barley Risotto with Marinated Feta

From Ottolenghi's recipe book Jerusalem, this barley risotto with marinated feta is a colourful dish that would be great as a vegetarian main.

TicTac80 · 02/02/2025 09:35

@Changingnameagain, try not to get too downcast about how fast the weightloss is. Remember, we're all different, and as long as the overall trajectory is going down, with good diet/water intake/exercise then you're on the right path. Far better to have a slow steady loss! Also, I'm sure it's the same for all of us: our weight will fluctuate naturally day by day. I've been doing daily weigh ins, because my scales measure things like water % too (and mine was low before I started all of this), so it's a prompt for me to ensure that I'm keeping on top of drinking plenty of water (rather than main lining black coffee!) and eating well/exercising. What I've found (doing daily weigh ins) is that I have a bit of weight loss, then a bit of a plateau /small gain on day 5/6 each week...but overall (since I started MJ) there is a loss.

I'm BAME (from the ME), so the thresholds for things like BMI are less for me than for indigenous Brits (is that the right way to say it?). I've got higher risk of T2DM, stroke and heart disease (I've also got a family history of heart issues and diabetes). My biggest concerns are reducing fat % (I'm 34% now), making sure I take enough water in, and making sure muscle and bone mass are good. Luckily, the only red flag showing on the readings are body fat (34%). Amber flags are weight (68.55kg), BMI (25.2), Subcut fat (30.9%) and metabolic age (46 - I'm 44). My muscle and bone mass are high (thank goodness! Just want to keep them that way!). Annoyingly, I've only just remembered to set up the Renpho tape measure that I bought in December. Waist then was 39inches. Now it's just under 31.

I did a health check thing last year and compared the read out from my scales to the ones that the health check people used and they were very similar, so I figure that's a good gauge. On plus side....I have just eaten a protein bagel with some avocado (and a tiny drizzle of sweet chilli sauce) :)

I had a small, minimal cheese, veggie topping homemade pizza on Friday night - Friday morning I weighed 18.11 - saturday and this morning I'm at 18.12. I'm blaming the pizza. Equally I just feel like I've cut down so much already like the pizza is the same size now as the ones my children get, I have 2/3 less cheese on topping and no pepperoni or similar so I don't want to cut the pizza altogether and am feeling hard done by tbh that I can't even eat a much smaller portion and modified version of one without putting on a whole bloody pound. I think novelty of the new way of eating has worn off now it isn't being offset with amazing losses- but this is now the grind part of the journey which I'm historically not good at pushing through. However as I've spent £240 now on this whole thing I'm going to push through because I can't bear to fail and waste the money! I did measure my waist this morning and it was 39.5 inches so that's down from 42 at end of december and that has buoyed me up a bit mentally.
