On protein amounts I’ve seen various ratios touted. On https://tdeecalculator.net for my weight and BMI, if I’m cutting calories to a 500 deficit from my maintenance, it’s calculated my protein intake to be between 100-116g depending on high vs low carb diet.
I got a similar number on Juniper too.
Most weight loss articles emphasise an increase in protein to combat muscle loss in a calorie deficit.
I ate a small steak last night and my total protein for the day was still only 68g. I get more on chicken legs!

@SlimmingCavendish I prefer the gym routines rather than a video class, means I can do the sets at my own pace and not try and keep up with the instructor. If you select strength classes there should be a ‘gym’ button at the top of the screen.
I usually do the beginner full body strength routine that only need weights and a chair. Callie Gullickson has a few.
And then I just did Ben Alldis’ Stronger You 2 which is Intermediate but actually wasn’t too hard.

I'm feeling a bit low this week. I normally weigh Wednesdays (jab day) and Saturdays and have normally lost 1lb by Saturday. Today I've lost 0.2lbs and I'm a bit fed up. I've not done anything different but I am a bit constipated and possibly due on, which I guess could have something to do with it. My periods are all over the place these days so I never really know when to expect it, which is also frustrating from a weight loss perspective. It's my birthday today and I was going to allow myself a little treat but given the next to no weight loss I now feel I can't.

I'm the same, constipated and a random bleed (post menopausal) , I weigh daily and was roughly the same weight for about 4 days but today I've suddenly lost almost 2 lbs since yesterday.

Happy birthday @UnderandOverwhelmed . Don’t be downhearted. It’s a long haul and you should absolutely have a birthday treat whatever that is.

Re scales, I actually did this on purpose two days ago, got up had a wee and got weighed. Went downstairs and had two cups of coffee, had a wee and got weighed. 0.6kg heavier.

That’s potentially how easy a couple of pounds is, a wee, a drink, a bit of constipation, pre menstrual, do not worry.

@UnderandOverwhelmed the week before my period I stayed exactly the same weight, the next week I lost 4lbs.

I’ve been using Gousto and Hello Fresh since starting. I was saying to my DP what a godsend these have been, as I wouldn’t have been able to think about food and what I would want to buy or cook (the opposite of normal…)

So I’ve been ordering the low calorie and high protein options and that’s been working well for the rest of the family too.

Week 5 done for me and did my first 5mg jab today. Eek, it's getting serious! 😅

Stats time:
SW: 15.13.0
CW: 14.9.4
Loss this week 3.2lbs

Feel a little light headed but otherwise ok. Need to eat something but really don't feel hungry so will need to force myself. What a very alien feeling!

Has anyone had lower back ache? My lower back is killing me today, my heart rate is fine, I feel less nauseous than I did earlier but for the last two days I’ve had backache. I don’t think it is in the danger zone for pancreatitis.

Very low, down to my coccyx.

Come yell at me!!

Im w3D5 and the food suppression this week has been top drawer compared to the last two weeks. What did I do differently, I jabbed in my stomach as opposed to my thigh.

HOWEVER… I haven’t eaten enough food. I have three meals but they are so clean that they just don’t add up to much. And yesterday I was so busy and didn’t once think about food until tea time, so yesterday I only had 362 calories 🫣 so I had two large handfuls of cashew nuts to at least bulk the calories out a bit.

i have my 5mg pen for week 5… should I go back to thigh?

first week I lost 5lbs
second week I lost 4
Im 5 days into this week and iv lost 3lbs this week so far

So strange isn’t it, everyone is clearly different as I had more suppression from thigh!

I,m really disappointed, I only lost 2 kg, ok, I’m microdosing, 1.25 mg, last jab 1.5 but I still have acid reflux at night, feeling cold etc, so adverse events are there just no effects.

We have Gousto boxes, as well. What I’ve been doing is swapping out the carbs and having cauliflower rice instead. The frozen bags are dead easy to use and you don’t really notice theswap.

I’ve been doing Robin Arzon 30 minute upper body strength training. She’s one of my favourites.
im trying to find some by Tunde as well but need to have a better look. X

I’ve finally reached 14lbs lost on wk6/6th jab.
I am happy with this although nothing like the losses others have had. I have lost cm’s though too (see somewhere up thread)

I am definitely constipated having not been since Tuesday 😱 (unusual).

I have the occasional electrolyte drink as I was getting headaches and these helped. I obviously need to up my liquid intake!

Struggling a bit today.

W3 day3. Immensely stressful day yesterday which saw me finish work at 9 (should have been 5), totally off my food but managed a pasta ready meal. Then so wound up I couldn't sleep until 1. Woke up at 5, barely managed any more sleep.

Luckily I had cleared today to do nothing but feel exhausted. I've thought about food all day - planned meals, looked at recipe books etc. but when I've eaten it I can't stomach it. Not finished a meal, can barely stomach tea and feel really nauseous.

I'm finding this really difficult tbh. There is a disconnect between my brain seeking the comfort of food and my body rejecting it. I think perhaps I was expecting more of the noise to be turned off - others talk about not thinking about food until hungry and that totally isnt me today.

Hopefully this is just being a bit knackered and having no resistance (honestly I'm so tired I keep getting teary).

I'm also struggling to get enough food in, which is so not me! But I also seem to be able function really well on low calories, so that makes it even harder to keep track that I'm eating enough. Trying to focus on protein, good fats and complex carbs. Fortunately, my family is well used to me weighing everything out before eating.

Poor you @myladyjane , hopefully you will feel a bit more with it tomorrow.

I know the not being able to sleep/switch off after work feeling and it isn't a nice one. Have you tried listening to a meditation? I swear by Mark Williams' Mindfulness - 8 week 'course' on audible. I listen to/do the body scan meditation every day.

I still think about food rather a lot. I love cooking and buying nice ingredients and am still doing that, just skipping a meal a day to get my calories down to about 1000.

I'm also feeling a bit meh today. I am wondering if my awful low down backache is menstrual/adenmyosis related as there are lots of reports of MJ affecting periods and I've had a few twinges over the last couple of days.

@cloudjumper what sort of things are you eating? I'm trying to have a piece of superseded brown bread each day as half a sandwich because with ham, salad and a scrape of lurpak that is getting on for 200 calories which soon bumps up a too small count.

I must move and get cooking for this crowd, I've been sat here reading, surfing and feeling sorry for myself for too long.

Is it normal to just not feel hungry at all? 2.5 and I can easily get to dinner time and not thought about food at all. I'm a bit concerned because I thought it would suppress so that j would eat smaller portions and not crave junk. Instead I am just not hungry full stop... which also makes me.worry that when I stop I will suddenly feel hungry all the time.

@MananaMananaPenelope thank you. I think it's ok to have a bit of a wallow every now and then. I may look at that meditation course thanks. I did just rejoin audible this morning actually so I can get a couple of audio books to listen to on walks/to help with sleep so excellent suggestion.

I have decided to try a slightly higher calorie day today just in case it helps with the sleep. I find I am easily staying under 1300, often closer to 1200 without really thinking about it so pretty low. I am a 50 something short arse though so my TDEE is pretty low anyway.

@cloudjumper do you have a snack box? When I'm prepared I have a pot of boiled eggs, cheese potions or baby bel, portioned out humous, fruit etc. so I can have an easily grab-able small portion of something. A friend of mine is weaning his baby at the moment and he has some great ideas :)

Well, it’s been a game of two halves for me today. Not hungry at all, so out of curiosity I thought I’d see how I could last. Only water had passed my lips all day, then I went to Tesco at about 3pm for something non-edible and ended up buying and eating a pack of mini eggs and a bag of crisps.

I wasn’t even craving them, there was just something about thinking, “I could buy those” that made me do it.

Eating is complicated, isn’t it?
