approx 0.8gr protein per kilo bodyweight is the general recommendation.

JoanCollinsDiva · 30/01/2025 22:18

Ahh thanks, I just looked at the average woman. I just did mine and by that calculation it's around 66g so maybe just the 3 chicken legs for me!

I love eggs but after having one the other day and then having a disgusting sulphur taste in my mouth (which stopped me from sleeping) I saw on a few of the other threads that some MJ-er's think eggs may be the cause of their sulphur burps. It really knocked me sick and I've been put off eating them now 😔

I've been lurking on this thread because I started Mounjaro this month, I'm about to take my 4th dose of 2.5mg. I'm nervous to move up to 5mg because of the increased possibility of gastric side effects, so I've been wondering..... could you take 2.5mg, then 3 days later take another 2.5mg, so that you're getting the full 5mg dose in one week but you're stepping it up through the week?

I'd be careful with dosing regimens that divert from what is being prescribed - you're meant to inject once a week, not multiple times. Even if you do 2.5mg multiple times a week, your body never receives the full 5mg dose, so you might as well stick with 2.5mg - the drug is being metabolised as soon as you inject it.
Have you considered trying to get the bonus dose instead? Most people get more than 2.5mg with that and use it as a stepping stone towards the 5 mg dose.

mince3point14159265 · 30/01/2025 23:01

I haven't had the sulphur burps from eggs but they taste and smell really funny to me. I'm really gutted as I normally love eggs 😭
I seem to have a heightened sense of smell like I did when pregnant (definitely not the reason! 🤣).

Therealmetherealme · 31/01/2025 05:28

I'm another who took the bonus dose yesterday, my pen wouldn't twist so used a syringe I was able to draw up 0.8, so roughly 3.3mg I think. I have a 5 mg pen next so injected all. Woken up with a really sore bad, probably constipated so that's going to be fun! The free Shotsy app lets you add customised doses, so it's interesting to see my estimated blood levels.

@Chocolateporridge have a play with the Shotsy up, it will show the estimated levels in your blood if you were to do that but I wouldn't recommend it.

HeavyHeidi · 31/01/2025 05:34

1st week done, 2.5 kilos down, that's 5.5 pounds. Thought it would be more, but lost 2 kilos of christmas weight the week before on my own, so guess a lot of the water weight went with it.
I'm already feeling a lot better - excercise is easier if your stomach is smaller!

unicornsaremagical · 31/01/2025 05:53

week 3 loss 4lbs, jab number 4 done, starting 5mg so nervous about that as this time i’ve felt nauseas and ice cold all week.
I think my loss is starting to slow down now as only 4lbs as opposed to the previous 2weeks of 6lbs although i’m doing the same exercise and calorie diet still so not sure what’s going on there. 16lbs down in 3 weeks is pretty good though and this is the lightest i’ve been since my 5 year old was born so overall i’m pleased.

emmsyg · 31/01/2025 06:23

I also used my bonus dose yesterday. Was able to hard twist the pen but the plunger didn’t depress so used a syringe I had on standby which was very easy. I just withdrew 0.6 and used that, so normal dose.

I’ve a 5mg in fridge but will just do 2.5 each week until that starts to wear off before moving up.

11lbs down in month 1 from a start weight of 12st 7 so very pleased!

IdentityCrisis101 · 28/01/2025 16:34

I am going to go up to 3.75 tomorrow, I am going to extract the correct dose with a syringe. I am worried about the jump from 2.5mg to 5mg and I am away with family this weekend and don't want to make myself unwell. Has anyone else done this?

How have you felt on 3.75? I did my 5th jab yesterday and did 2.5mg from a 5mg pen and have woken up starving hungry and only 3lbs down this week according to my weekly weigh in. So now I'm wondering if I should have done 3.75mg

Does anyone know if it would be OK for me to top up with 1.25mg dose from my pen or whether I should just write this week off as its likely to be a tricky week and do 3.75 jab next Thursday?

I've lost 22lbs in 4 weeks which I know I should be pleased with but I'm feeling really impatient with 3lb losses in the last 2 weeks compared to the big losses in the first 2 weeks. I'm eating between 1000-1500cals a day and just feel like I should be losing more than 3lbs

I think I will also stay on 2.5 until I feel it starts wearing off. at least the first week, supression has been unreal. Not once have I thought that oh, I really want to eat something but no, I can't.
I have been thinking that I have no appetite whatsoever, but better eat something, to get my nutrients in. Very bizarre experience for me.

And I totally accept that weight loss will slow down. But even if it's a kilo per week, it will add up to a very reaonable loss in just a couple of months.

millenialmolly · 31/01/2025 07:00

Week 2 weigh in this morning, stayed the same as last week.

I'm gutted- trying not to be but I just can't see how I haven't lost. I'm well under my calories, drinking loads of water and over my steps target. Eating well and making the best choices possible.

Only thing I can think is that it might be linked to my cycle, I have a mirena coil and it's a bit all over the place but I have had the usual totm aches, bloating, back pain, constipation etc this week.

cherrycherryblossom · 31/01/2025 07:06

Took dose 3 of 2.5mg late last night before bed. Have woken with a horrible nauseous feeling after no real side effects previously. Not fancying breakfast at all.

Weighed just now and at the end of week 2 I’ve lost another 2lbs, so that’s 11lbs in total after two full weeks. Very pleased with that.

First week done and I've lost 2.4kg this week, 3.4kg since starting weight (lost a bit in the week between ordering and starting). Amazed! I haven't had a huge amount of suppression, but have also been really ill (bug, not MJ) so not really a normal week.

JoJothegerbil · 31/01/2025 07:50

I had a sneaky mid week weigh in this morning and have lost a lb, bringing my total loss in just over 2.5 weeks to 4lbs. Not amazing, but I’m a very slow loser and whilst I would love a bigger loss, this is ok. Even at 1lb a week, I’ll be 2 stone lighter by summer. I have around 4 stone to get rid of so I hope 2 stone will be noticeable by then.

Last time I lost a significant amount of weight I managed to do nearly all of C25K before a cancer diagnosis and hysterectomy put a stop to that. I never got back into the habit so as soon as it’s a bit lighter in the morning, I’m planning on heaving my fat bod out when nobody can see me!

This last week my appetite has definitely come back and I have 5mg in the fridge ready to go a week on Sunday. My only hesitation is that I had terrible diarrhoea that went on for days on the 2nd strength Wegovy last year so I stopped taking it. I think I’ll go up gradually from 2.5mg and hopefully not have the same thing happen as it wasn’t fun.

TicTac80 · 31/01/2025 08:17

Happy Friday all! It's peeing with rain down here in Kent. Hope everyone is doing ok.

I guess this is Week 5, Day 1 for me. I managed to get a 5th dose from the pen this morning (I used a 1ml syringe and orange needle). It was slightly more than the 0.6ml dose.

Jan 3rd (first day that I took this): 76.2kg, fat 36.5%, BMI 28.0, water 43.6% (at the end of December, I was over 77kg).
Today: 69.5kg (10stone 13lb), fat 34.3%, BMI 25.5, water 45.1%.

I think I'd be happy to get down to 55 - 60kg. That's what I used to be, before peri etc. Before kids, I was around the 7.5-8.5 stone mark.

Anyway, 1 stone down :) Slow and steady is good (I hope!).

How's everyone been doing? I've felt a little bit nauseous on occasion over these weeks but luckily no other bad side effects.

Food intake has been interesting. Anyone else finding that? I have to force myself to eat on most days but found as this month progressed, I was able to have slightly more. I think the highest intake of cals has been around 1400. The lowest about 300cals. It mainly hovers about the 800-1000cals (and not because I'm trying to starve myself or anything stupid like that).

Comparing my old portion sizes to now, it's quite a difference. And I think that over the years the portion sizes I've had have increased slowly, so I'm not going to purely blame menopause/peri/PCOS for my weight gain, even though my diet and activity levels haven't changed.

myladyjane · 31/01/2025 08:25

@cherrycherryblossom jinx!

Wk3 day 1 weigh in. Lost a smidge over 2lb so that's 8lb in 2 weeks. BMI is down from 39 something to something with a 37.

I woke up feeling great. Actually slept pretty ok - one loo trip but straight back to sleep after. Felt hungry but that's good. I easily said no to pizza yesterday as well. So felling very virtuous.

Then I got up. Headache, bit dizzy and puke. Not exactly constipation but not a free and easy experience either. So though I'd have a bit of kefir yoghurt and prunes for breakfast. Couldn't finish the yoghurt and am struggling with my beloved tea.

Today is the last day of hideous work stress and hoping to finish a bit early as I have done my time this month. I have nothing planned but self care this weekend - walks, maybe a couple of new recipes which I can batch cook, bit of yoga and reading. The joy of teenagers who just need cash and occasional nagging these days...

Seaitoverthere · 31/01/2025 08:32

2.8lb off this week so a total of 9.6lb in 5 weeks on Mounjaro and I am really pleased, especially as I am now class 1 obese, looking forward to being overweight at some point ! Total loss this time around (lost over 100lbs previously then regained most but not quite all from 2 medications) is 44.6lb.

For those who are feeling disheartened and feel they should be losing more please try not to be. Weight loss is absolutely not linear and you need to look at your average over time .

Things like menstrual cycle, undigested food in bowel, salt level of food and exercise affecting retained water etc all make a difference to the scales and cause weight fluctuations which is completely normal. Don’t compare yourself to others, everyone is different.

Smaller losses over time are a bit like a snowball rolling downhill starting small then gradually get bigger and bigger. Visible weight loss is the opposite, think toilet rolls. Taking the first few sheets off and the toilet roll looks the same but after a bit when the roll is thinner taking some off makes more of a difference. So anyone getting fed up think snowballs and toilet rolls and KOKO (keep on keeping on).

I had a bigger calorie deficit last week than this week and lost 1.2lb last week and 2.8lb this week, it’s just how it goes. Don’t think I want to go up to 5 at this point so will do 3mg from my 5mg pen and if I have to chuck some at the end that’s ok, it gives the flexibility to increase when I want to .

TicTac80 · 31/01/2025 08:37

@myladyjane , your self care plan sounds wonderful :) I hope you manage to get out of work early today. Shopping has just arrived, and I need to sort that and batch cook some bits too. You know I've never tried yoga. I might have a nosey at some videos.

I'm going to jump on exercise bike today and then do some weights (attempt to!). I did have a PT for 6 months to get me some confidence with doing weights (I'd never done anything with weights before), but I've just finished my gym membership and PT sessions as I have some gym bits at home (so WAY cheaper to carry on at home).

MananaMananaPenelope · 31/01/2025 08:37

Morning, great losses reported - really fantastic!

I am still in bed! Day off today and I'm tired, also thinking of having smoked salmon and a poached egg on a piece of brown toast for breakfast, I am feeling a bit hungry this morning as I didn't eat a huge amount yesterday.

I'm not tracking protein or anything like that, just eating normally in a time window.

broccolini · 31/01/2025 08:46

Going to attempt the extra bonus dose this morning.
Have lost 5kg since beginning MJ, most of which was in the first week, 4.3kg, weeks 2/3 stayed the same and this week a 0.6kg, so definitely not a linear process.
Thanks all for the protein suggestions.

HeavyHeidi · 31/01/2025 08:50

So far I've had no serious side effects - cold, and didn't sleep well last night, but nothing else.
I always lose weight from belly first, so it's really nice to see how much smaller it is. Could I really fit back into my 'slim' summer clothes this summer? There have been several years now when I have unpacked them all in the beginning of summer, hoping that maybe this year I can wear them...and then have put them all back into storage unworn, as I did not.

GrumpyMuleFan · 31/01/2025 08:59

@millenialmolly I feel for you. That is so frustrating. This I suspect will happen to me too. I always loose a lot in week 1 of diet, then hold for next 2 weeks, before having a whoosh and then loosing slowly but steadily. It always makes me doubt what I am doing.

sounds as if you are doing all the right things. Just keep going - one step, one day.

MJalltheway · 31/01/2025 09:17

Something I have found helpful is remembering that we didn't all put weight on in a matter of weeks. It's crept on, month after month after month. Weight loss is the same, slow and steady. I've mentally committed myself to being on MJ for this whole year. I have at least 4 stone to lose to get back to the top end of a normal weight.

MananaMananaPenelope · 31/01/2025 09:18

I've been cold and tired this week, I am not sure if it is MJ or the bug that's going round my office tbh.

Jins · 31/01/2025 09:54

@TicTac80 your post stuck out to me. I’m a week behind you but my starting weight, goal weight, bmi, body fat percentage, pre-peri weight and pre-kids weight are all within grams of yours. We’re obviously going to be a similar height as well - do you carry the excess on your top half?

Anyway - weighed in this morning ready for 4th jab this afternoon and I’m 4lbs down from starting weight. However I’ve lost a few inches here and there, my stomach feels flatter and I’m starting to see a change in my upper arms.
