On the golden dose, I was able to twist the one hard enough but the plunger didn’t work. I’d already bought syringes which worked perfectly.

Otherwise, now on week 6. I stuck to 2.5mg which I regret as this week it seems to have really worn off by day 4. Still getting full faster but the food noise and hunger back. I’m tempted to take another 2.5mg. I changed provider so have enough pens, grating as it is from a cost perspective!!

Have you tried the clear ones? They are sweet but more like juice. I'm using the Protein Works Clear Diet Whey Protein orange and mango flavour. 20g protein in 350ml

That might work, will give it a try. Thanks!

discoballv · 29/01/2025 09:06

I believe they have changed the design so you can still 'break' it by twisting but then the plunger won't move.

@HeavyHeidi Re protein powder - I think normal protein powder is grainy by nature so agree maybe a clear one is better as it's like drinking squash. If you want a regular one, I always get vegan protein powder as I feel it agrees with my stomach more than normal ones. The Protein Works vegan one is good as it has minimal ingredients and they do an unflavoured version, but still might be a problem with the texture for you. I buy the vanilla one and always have it stirred in my Greek yoghurt rather than having it as a drink 😃

@IBloodyLoveMyBlanket I think I'm at a similar loss! I'm a daily weigher as I find it helps me seeing my fluctuations. My 'official' week 1 weigh in is tomorrow morning (taking jab 2 tonight) but I was down 3lbs as of a couple of days ago, but this morning it's gone back up slightly so I'm on 1.8lb loss.

Which I am fine with as my period decided to arrive early a few days ago, and historically I've never been one of these people who lose like half a stone on the first week of a diet. Plus I have found this week an absolute breeze and feel so positive I can just stick to eating well the next few months.

I think the difference is, in the past I would just give up now because I'd be disappointed in not getting a big first week loss and also felt like I was depriving myself for nothing. Because I don't feel deprived of all the junk I like to eat, I am not bothered!

Good luck with week 2!

I second this - they taste surprisingly unlike what protein powder usually tastes like. And less cals - 86 cals for all that protein.

Someone else also asked about collagen powders earlier - MyProtein do a protein powder that includes collagen.

Succumbed to buying Psyllium husks yesterday - needing all the help I can get at the moment. Combining it with my complete bio-gut, in case I don't want that in my coffee for a change.

discoballv · 29/01/2025 09:15

@Thelittlestranger I am so prone to constipation, especially if I up my protein (which I have massively this week!). I bought some psyllium husk and I think it's made a difference for me as I've not had any issues yet. Plus some prunes every day for good measure! I think all the water helps too.

UnderandOverwhelmed · 29/01/2025 09:18

Week 5 day 1 and I just did the bonus dose and got 8.5 out of the pen. Lost 2.4lbs this week so I'm down 13.2lbs since 1st Jan.
SW 223.6
CW 210.4
GW 140
I was hoping for a round stone this month, but I'll weigh again on Friday, you never know! Would just give me such a boost to lose a stone to start as I know it will be slower going forwards.

HeavyHeidi · 29/01/2025 09:18

yes I'm also using psyllium and eat a few prunes every day, haven't had any issues so far.
Have ordered some clear protein.
I'm due a jab tomorrow, and so far it has not been weaning off, still no interest in food. Have to remind myself that I really should have some.

fudge77 · 29/01/2025 09:30

discoballv that’s interesting that you have read they’ve changed the pens so the plunger won’t work after 4 as I posted the other day that my pen wouldn’t work at dose 4! It just wouldn’t push down and I ended up having to extract my dose and jab that way! Not great that it happened at dose 4 though, but fortunately I had the syringe needles ready to do the bonus dose so used that.
It’s lovely seeing everyone’s loses and progress, I feel this is different to any other diet I have tried before and MJ is definitely a big helping hand in helping me stick to my calories each day and not fall off the dieting wagon like I have so many times in the past!

Lilausaurusrex · 29/01/2025 09:31

Weighed myself today and a total of 10lbs lost so far since January 1st….8lbs of that on Mounjaro since January 14th. Really pleased with my results. 🥳🥳. I was a bit disappointed yes I was not having large numbers like some others, but when looking at my loss as a whole, I am so impressed!

It’s been such a relief to have the food noise stop. I didn’t realise how much I was obsessing over food!

Lilausaurusrex · 29/01/2025 09:34

HeavyHeidi · 29/01/2025 06:46

Has anybody found a decent protein shake? I have always weight trained so don't want to lose muscle, but it's hard to eat enough protein. I've tried seveal powders, but they are either too floury or sickly sweet. Anything that has a more pleasant taste? Or no taste at all?

Hi! I really enjoy the combat fuel protein shakes or my protein protein shakes! I also weight train a lot each week and I add creatine to my protein shake after weight training.

Since starting monjaro, I have also been preferring the clear whey protein. It just seems to sit more nicely in my stomach now as it tastes like juice.

Alternatively, you could add flavoured protein to your porridge or pancakes for breakfast!

HeavyHeidi · 29/01/2025 09:34

10lbs in a month is great! I am actually mindful not to lose weight too fast - I'm in my late 40s, so worried about sagging face.

timeformetolose · 29/01/2025 09:35

Can I please join, just started today, how long did it take to notice that you felt differently about food?

Yes I’m so pleased! I’m spending a lot of time on fitness as well as I am super keen to build more muscle. Also mindful about loosing too much weight too fast x

HeavyHeidi · 29/01/2025 09:36

Thanks, might try - I don't usually eat breakfast, but maybe on weekends. Have been experimenting with the protein powders I already have, still too floury or sweet with yogurt, but it seems that mixing them with kefir is a reasonable option, the sour kefir hides the flour taste.

Good luck.

it was the next day. I’m W3D2 and it’s starting to creep back in so I’ll definitely increase to 5mg for next pen (although may take 3.75).

Took my 1st on thursday evening and had no appetite from Friday morning onwards. But experiences differ, I have friends who had no effect for the first month.

cloudjumper · 29/01/2025 09:42

So I seem to lose about 1 kg/week - which I know is good and healthy, but I still want it to go faster 😆
I'm now 5.4 kg down after 4 weeks of mj. If this trend continues, I should reach my target weight by mid-June 🙏

On the extra dose - after I had extracted it with a syringe last night, I tried to see what happens if I twist as if I was dosing normally - I could twist the pen, but the plunger wouldn't move anymore.

Jins · 29/01/2025 09:56

I had a mini whoosh yesterday of half a pound which feels amazing even though it’s just yesterday’s gain plus a bit. This is why I weigh daily and do the weekly average really. I get a feel for natural fluctuations.

I’m hanging on until February before ordering my second pen. I was paid early in December and it’s been a long wait for January’s pay. I’ll be taking the bonus dose and then going to 5mg.

I’ve talked myself out of my negativity to some extent.

GrumpyMuleFan · 29/01/2025 10:15

@FatGirlLosing im exactly the same on sleep. Also wear Oura ring and my RHR in normally in the low to mid 60s. In week one it was over 70 and in week two, high 60s. Hoping I’ll get used to it. Exactly the same issues of taking a while to go to sleep, with dropping in/out sleep. Then waking 5ish and not being able to go back to sleep. All my scores took a hit wk1, but improving now. Have my fingers crossed as the last thing I need is more cortisol.

GrumpyMuleFan · 29/01/2025 10:22

@timeformetolose welcome and good luck. Suppression was almost immediate for me - that could be placebo.

GrumpyMuleFan · 29/01/2025 10:40

@JoanCollinsDiva @discoballv
Thanks for replies yesterday - been mulling it all over as I am really, really keen to learn from my past regains and avoid it this time.

Keeping calorie counting and regular weigh ins are a really good idea. I love a bit of data as it speaks for itself. I’m realising that logging may be a long term thing for me.

The mindset change is much harder, but I know that CBT works so well for many people. I’m going to give that a good go too.

Keep the exercise going + know that maintenance doses are there if needed.

Thank you for recommending the interview. I’m going to listen at the weekend.

My resting heart rate is up too! Usually it's really low - 49/50. But it's gone up to 55/56 in the past 5 weeks - only change is the MJ...

Howinthehelldidthishappen · 29/01/2025 11:38

Interesting about the resting heart rates.
Mine is also up by 5 or 6 (from 64/65 to 70) since taking MJ.
Glad it's not just me!

Have you considered trying some clear whey protein? Water based so less sickly. Lots on the market

Boohoo76 · 29/01/2025 13:49

W2D6….really struggling today. Don’t feel like I have much suppression at all!
