So encouraging to read of all these brilliant losses - well done everyone!
I’m W3 D5. Feeling discouraged as I have been hugely hungry the last couple of days. I’ve still managed to stick to about 1500 calories but it’s all I’m thinking about, and when I weighed I hadn’t lost anymore.
I looked back at diary and I’m hoping I’m premenstrual, and that will explain it? I’m in perimenopause and on HRT now, so things aren’t as clear, but on a regular cycle I’m due again and I’m hoping that will explain this hunger as otherwise I’m feeling worried.

(I know 4kg in this time is really good and I’m pleased, just frustrated it’s stalled in last 5 days… I need patience!)

@NothankyouNigel i bit the bullet and ordered them, thanks for the insight, sizing and losing weight is all such a headache and unknown for me. I’m also almost at overweight rather than obese! Feels like such an achievement i’m so happy i started. i had jab 3 a few days ago so we’re around the same time. Well done on your loss it’s fantastic!

FCforMounjaro · 28/01/2025 09:52

@EverybodySayCheeze I’d stick at 2.5 if you are getting good suppression? .

FCforMounjaro · 28/01/2025 09:58

W3D2 - I’ve moved forward by a day- I’ll be jabbing Monday evening from now on.
Ive had slight nausea, headache on day 1&2- all manageable so far (touch wood). I am waking on the night and early but hope this improves 🤞
I need to increase my protein and exercise- goal for this week.

First half stone lost!

Long time lurker first time poster

Week 1 mounjaro on day 6
Thought all was well, weighed last night put on 3 pounds! But due on so hoping that was a factor...weighed this morning lost 3.5! What the hell?!
Lesson learnt I will now be patient and only weigh once a week for my own sanity

HeavyHeidi · 28/01/2025 10:24

I asked DH if he has food noise, does he think about food throughout the day, planning when and what he is going to eat next. He said no, he only thinks about food half an hour before mealtimes when he is getting hungry. He didn't even realise I'm not like that and I need so so much willpower not to eat the entire fridge and pantry every time I pass them.
Will see if the effect wears off towards end of week.

cloudjumper · 28/01/2025 10:44

Lovely to read about all the losses! My weigh day is tomorrow, and I am thinking of moving it to Tuesdays, which is my jab day...

I've now been on mj for 4 weeks, and feel really optimistic! My trousers are definitely sitting more loosely (I have my old size 14s sitting at the back of the wardrobe waiting for me...).
Another thing I have noticed is that my carpal tunnel syndrome has gotten so much better over the last week or so. Until then, I've woken up at night with the pain, and was really struggling with pins & needles every morning, and I have started wearing a splint at night. Now I no longer wake up, the pain has been replaced by a mild discomfort, and for the last 2 nights, I've not used the splint at all! I'm so happy with that! Really hoping that it will disappear altogether at some point.

Having said that, I woke up this morning really hungry! Ready for the next dose 😆

DGonMJ · 28/01/2025 10:56

@SlimmingCavendish have just ordered some on your rec, thanks!

@EverybodySayCheeze I’ve also stuck with 2.5mg for my second pen. Suppression is good enough, I get some hungry moments in the last couple of days but try to eat slowly and healthily during those times and by the end of that day I’ve usually hit 1200-1300 calories.

I’ve lost 6kg in just over three weeks and have moved from obese to overweight, wouldn’t want to lose any faster than this going forward.
I’m hoping to hit goal weight by April. If I have a whole month of plateau-ing I may move up to 5mg, but I’m going to try and keep increasing my strength training instead. Today I managed to lift heavier weights doing bicep curls compared to three weeks ago! So if the plateau is muscle replacing fat, I’ll be happy with that.

HeavyHeidi · 28/01/2025 10:59

I lift a lot and struggling to get the protein in, I simply don't like protein enough and could live on fruit. Definitely do not want to lose muscle mass.

There's a poster on one of the other threads I'm on who regularly puts on about 7lbs overnight when due on and then loses it the next day.

I think we all need to take this into consideration when randomly putting on a few pounds - is it your cycle at play? This is also why I only weigh once a week bc I know il be obsessive if I'm gaining and losing a pound here and there, I know some prefer to track daily but just a thought if you find yourself getting annoyed.

Im planning on probably not even weighing myself when I'm due on as I bloat massively and I know il put on a few pounds and be miffed, so I'm just not going to put myself through it!

Also EverybodySayCheeze
there seems to be two schools of thought regarding moving up which are stick where you are if you're getting good suppression - especially if you've a lot to lose. Then others who say you should trust the process and follow the trajectory of increases that is set out - and only move back down if your side effects become too bad. That's what I'm planning on doing as I want to see what happens when I move up, personally.
Then If it makes me ill and I'm still losing on 2.5mg il move back down.

My dh is the exact same, he just doesn't get what a blight it is to be obsessed with food/weight.

He will put on a bit of weight then cut out having dessert after his dinner and easily lose a stone. It doesn't help that he keeps on trying to get me to eat more and "enjoy myself" when I've told him I'm trying to lose weight. I had to tell him off the other day as he's constantly telling me how I don't need to lose weight and I'm "perfect as I am". I reminded him I'm an overweight bmi, don't fit into any of my clothes and get out of breath walking up the stairs. That I've been really miserable for a while now and I know my weight is the biggest factor in that. I asked him does he want me to be happy or sad - surely he would rather have a slim, happy wife than a chubby miserable one?

He doesn't mean to annoy me but it does become irritating when he's constantly telling me how perfect I am with a bmi of 29!! It makes me feel like he's saying he doesn't fancy me as much when I'm slim 😔

Im doing this for me though - no one else.

What are everyone's else's partners like when they lose weight? Do you think they are a little threatened by it or is it a biological thing ie. Bigger/curvier = sexy/fertile?

RockyisMYRhino · 28/01/2025 11:22

Did a sneaky mid week weigh in this morning and have lost another 2lb (although not official until proper weigh in on Thursday morning) taking me to the half stone mark in just over 3 weeks!!! Can't remember when I last lost this much weight in three months!!! Have also got lots of motivation and energy to get my fat bum to the gym now too and just got back from a circuits class but with no compulsion to eat to make up the energy I used (although need to remember to eat more regularly to stop the hangry monster from appearing). Keep going ladies we can absolutely do this!!

JoanCollinsDiva · 28/01/2025 11:22

That's fabulous about your carpal tunnel. Losing weight has so many health benefits and NSV's we don't even consider when we begin.

GrumpyMuleFan · 28/01/2025 11:26

It's been in the paper again this morning about how difficult it is to keep weight off after loosing it and stopping WLI. Fat cells change once you are overweight, and despite weight loss, still act like fat cells - hence why people yo-yo and seem to regain easily. Historically I've been a yo-yo-er, so can totally relate to this and glad to have some explanation why it seems to happen so easily.

I am in W2 and just had a chat with the pharmacist at Slimmr (as changing supplier). He said a lot of people stay on 2.5 if they are getting ok suppression, manageable symptoms and steady weight loss.

I asked what is the best way to loose the weight and set myself up to keep it off. Answer was lifestyle and psychological change. Using the meds to reduce food noise, but to have enough hunger that you learn to consciously make better food choices. Plus movement, exercise etc. They offer a CBT course to help make psychological changes stick. He said if you don't get used to feeling urges and managing them, you are not going to change your approach to food when hunger returns. He said you can also be on a maintenance dose at the end, to help you adapt.

JoanCollinsDiva · 28/01/2025 11:38

GrumpyMuleFan

I am treating WLI exactly as I would any other way of losing weight - in the past I've tried calorie counting, SW, fast 800 etc. If you don't figure out what your maintenance calories are each day and stick to it and instead go back to your old ways then obviously you'll put the weight back on. You can't lose weight on WLI eating 1200 calories a day and then when you come off go back to eating say 3000 and expect to keep it off.

I think I'm planning on coming off it when I reach goal and tracking/weighing to see what happens - then if I start to put it on again and I'm struggling with cravings go back on a maintenance dose. I just hope il be able to do that supplier-wise.

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 28/01/2025 11:57

I'd like to avoid calorie counting if possible, it gives me the rage and makes me feel deprived. On MJ (all of 6 daysGrin) I'm eating much less than I would usually. I'm trying to consider 'what would an average sized person eat' when I put food on my plate.

HeavyHeidi · 28/01/2025 12:04

What are everyone's else's partners like when they lose weight?

Mine sounds like yours. For himself, yes cuts out some of the desserts and goes for an extra run, and oh look lost half a stone..
And he is always telling me I look great and don't need to diet - but he does like it when I'm happier and demonstrating some clothes I can fit into again. Really can't complain, of course I don't want a DH who actively nags me to lose weight (had an ex like that, was not nice).

UnderandOverwhelmed · 28/01/2025 12:09

I'm thinking I need to do a weekly weigh in for life, so I can catch gains before they spiral. I've been down the weight loss road so many times and I don't want to do it again after this.

discoballv · 28/01/2025 12:11

@GrumpyMuleFan not sure if you've seen it, but I'd highly recommend watching the Oprah podcast on YouTube which came out recently. She talks with a Yale Dr who has been studying GLP-1 for the past 20 years and it's so interesting how they talk about obesity as a disease and how it can be treated with the likes of Mounjaro but not 'cured'. It really gave me a lightbulb moment as to why I've always struggled with my weight and been up and down, thinking I lack 'willpower.' They also talk about maintaining weight loss and have some really good discussion points.

After watching it, I now think for some people trying to inherently change the way your brain works post weight-loss is just never going to happen, so being able to be on the drug (albeit maybe at a low dose) for the foreseeable will be life changing for those people. It's good to see some pharmacies taking this approach and having maintenance plans which allow people to hit their goal weight and keep taking the medication if needed.

Grecianrainbow · 28/01/2025 12:28

W4 D4 - food noise is definitely here for me today. I’ve had some dried mango as the best option to mitigate mindless chocolate/ crisp munchies. The rest of my day is adequately planned I think.

Im also going to order some needles to try the bonus dose next month.

HousePlans · 28/01/2025 13:30

@keeponplodding7 how are you feeling today? Did you do the second jab? Just done mine after no issues with breakfast and lunch. 😅

BraveStarr · 28/01/2025 13:39

Took my 3rd (2.5mg) dose on Sunday. Really surprised (and happy!) with the weight lost so far. Appetite suppression is working well, I don't constantly think about food like I used to!

SW 98.8kg
CW 93.5kg
GW 75kg

Hope everyone is doing well x

CurlsandCurves · 28/01/2025 13:53

Hi may I join you? Did my first jab this morning. I’ve been almost pessimistic about this whole thing in my head, don’t want to get my hopes up. Been telling myself 2.5 is just a loading dose and not to expect too much. My stance has been be realistic, give it 6 months and see what happens.

But I’ve just had lunch (chicken salad and coleslaw) and I put back the crisps I would usually have as well. I’m feeling a bit sick, like too full sickness. Normally I’d have smashed the bag of crisps and be craving something sweet for pudding!

Is this genuine, or placebo effect, what do we reckon?

How is the WhatsApp group going? I’d like to join if that’s ok.

I think it's probably genuine! Some people do react to it within a couple of hours. I did my first jab Wednesday evening and felt it from the next morning onwards. I thought it was just a placebo thing at first too as it felt too good to be true! I've been eating small meals and haven't thought about food at all outside of these. It is really strange to get used to!
