C25K runners - anyone want to join?

Finally hauled myself out of bed this morning to restart C25K, having been wanting to get back into running now that I’ve lost weight on MJ.

Two years ago I was able to run 10K… this morning the three minute runs in week 3 (I’m impatient…) were a real stretch - but it felt so good to be back out there.

I’ve struggled to get consistently into exercise since starting WLI in September but am now about a stone from target and really need to sort it out. I’m hoping getting into regular running will kick start some strength training motivation too.

Amyone else want to join in for mutual support?

Protein will keep you fuller for longer. Maybe a banana before your run?

SilenceInside · 13/06/2025 22:18

I’m surprised with how week 7 is going so far, I think I actually prefer a single chunk of running rather than all the stopping and starting. It makes it simple - just keep running till the app (Steve Cram!) says I can stop. I’m slow so I’m only doing about 3.5k at the moment.

gimmemounjaro · 13/06/2025 22:48

Ha, I have Steve Cram too - he’s getting on my nerves a bit now though, my last run was 28 mins and I used a watch instead of the app so I didn’t have to hear the Geordie start 😅

MummyInTheNecropolis · 14/06/2025 00:14

I have Jo Wiley. I’ve stalled on week 4. Didn’t feel ready for week 5, so I’ve repeated week 4 but still don’t feel ready for week 5. Do I repeat week 4 again? Or just try week 5 and go back to week 4 if I can’t do it?

SilenceInside · 14/06/2025 10:32

@MummyInTheNecropolis I would give week 5 a go and see how you get on. I was daunted by Week 5 Run 3 with the sudden jump to 20 minutes non stop, but actually it was manageable. I went a bit slower than I had for the shorter runs and got there. I would then repeat week 5 until you're happy with it, if needed, rather than repeat week 4 that you can already do.

sylv165 · 14/06/2025 12:58

@MummyInTheNecropolisi think give week 5 a try too. I remember earlier in this thread we were all slightly panicked by week 5 but most found it easier than expected. Just keep it slow. Good luck!!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 14/06/2025 17:06

Thank you @sylv165i think I will do one final week 4 run this evening and then give week 5 a go next week. Eek! 🙈

SilenceInside · 23/06/2025 16:37

Just about to start Week 9. Amazed I've got this far to be honest. I have done it all on a treadmill indoors which means I have no idea if I can pace myself if I ever manage to run outside. It's also always been on a single level, no up or down hill either. Once I've done this week, I think I will find a continuation app to work on progressing to running the full 5k/getting a bit quicker with the aim of doing a park run later this summer, I hope.

peonym · 28/06/2025 08:42

@SilenceInsidewell done on getting to week 9! Huge achievement. I used to treadmill run and now only outdoor run. I find it so much easier to run outside with a loop or a plan, it certainly helps take my mind off running lol. I haven’t actually done a park run yet but it’s next on my list!!

I’ve had covid and a very bad cough for about 3 weeks now and my running has definitely taken a down turn. But I impromptu signed up for my first ever 10k race in 5 weeks - was the decision wine induced? Yes. But I’m going to give it a lash lol. Any tips welcome!! Longest race I’ve done is one marathon leg at 7.5k and I’ve not run that distance since. I’ve got a Runna app plan now but it’s pretty intense!

Midlifecrisisxamillion · 28/06/2025 10:41

I started again and I'm on week 6 run 2. It's hard work and hills were designed by the devil, even the slightest slope

SilenceInside · 28/06/2025 10:52

@peonym I have run a couple of 10k races, a very long time ago now! I don’t think I have any useful advice though - I walked at various points and did pretty slow times. The better one was when I was running with a running partner who ran at about the same pace as me, so we could help each other out.

@Midlifecrisisxamillion well done on starting again. Hills are indeed devilish, and why does there always seem to be more ups than there are downs??

beguilingeyes · 28/06/2025 13:38

I've started again (again) and I've just finished week 3. It was muggy this morning.

SilenceInside · 30/06/2025 09:37

I did Week 9 Run 3 yesterday, which takes me to the end of C25K. Really pleased to have completed it. I'm going to use the Beyond C25K runs as my next step, and hopefully get to the point where I can manage a 5k running all the way.

peonym · 01/07/2025 19:05

I’m planning on walking at a couple of points too if I need to! And my husband promises he will follow my pace lol I hope xx

Midlifecrisisxamillion · 01/07/2025 19:13

I ran 25 minutes this morning!

SilenceInside · 01/07/2025 19:19

@Midlifecrisisxamillion that’s impressive in these temperatures. I’m postponing my first (treadmill) run this week until tomorrow as it’s been over 30 degrees in my house today.

@peonymmy DP used to run in circles next to me when we ran together, which I absolutely hated! We are very different heights so he does find it hard to run as slowly as I go. He can do a fast walk at the same speed as my jog!

beguilingeyes · 01/07/2025 22:33

Attempting W4R2 tomorrow. Mercifully it's supposed to be cooler.

Cantbesure · 02/08/2025 19:27

I got a PB at parkrun today. So happy!

SilenceInside · 02/08/2025 23:24

@Cantbesure whoo! Well done!

Cantbesure · 03/08/2025 16:51

SilenceInside · 02/08/2025 23:24

@Cantbesure whoo! Well done!

Thank you! I did 11k today in preparation for a 10K event next week. Excited! And a bit scared 🙈😂

Pumpkinforever · 03/08/2025 17:11

I said I was going to start but never did 🙄. Anyway in the past week I have signed up for a C25K course, got my gait analysed and purchased some running trainers. So I will be ready to rumble come the beginning of September 💪🏻

HappyWineDay · 05/08/2025 23:29

I thought i might join in with this group, because reading the posts you’re all a real inspiration. I’m midway through week 4 of C24k on the treadmill. I haven’t even tried to run since breaking my leg a few years ago so it’s been quite a challenge and I certainly don’t feel anywhere near going outside.
My son has seen my progress and has been encouraging me to join the local Parkrun. He runs in his local event quite a distance away but assures me I’d love it. So that’s my big target once I progress through the programme. BMI currently just under 30, started at 36 a few months back. The WLIs have enabled me turn around my whole lifestyle.

Cantbesure · 10/08/2025 16:54

I did my 10K yesterday. And surprised myself by coming in at just under an hour 🏃‍♀️🎉🥂

sylv165 · 12/08/2025 23:35

Amazing @Cantbesure! I need to get back to running. I’ve been going to a personal trainer to build muscle and strength which has been great, but it has come at the expense of running. I actually got to a point where I could enjoy it again so definitely need to ease myself back into it!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 19/08/2025 14:04

I completed my final run today! I am now a couch to 5k graduate 🙌
