Fantastic we made it to thread 2!

This is a thread for all those who have started or are about to start the Shemed programme in January.

Those waiting for blood tests /first pens hope you hear soon!
Those on their first/second jab hope it's going well - do come and tell us how it's going.

This is designed as a supportive space to share with each other how it's going, worries, side effects as well celebrating wins and results :)

Only week 1 day 5, but absolutely no side effects and also no appetite reduction. I have been consciously eating better, but ravenous all the time too. Anyone else?

On W2D1 now & just done my second jab. I did have some early suppression - but it definitely tapered as the first week went on. I read this is expected for the first couple of weeks until there's a level in your system & the effects are more continuous.

Similar to you, I have tried eating better (& probably MJ has helped with those decisions) - but honestly, it was harder work than I was expecting based on all the comments/Internet things I'd read (damn, no magic bullet!). Looking forward to get this first month done & moving up a dose - & also working on what I eat/moving more.

Can I join? I have a lot to lose, feel ashamed to even say how much! Just waiting for my blood results and praying I get accepted as when I weighed myself I was 2 stone heavier than I expected, and 2 stone heavier than I was at full term pregnancy with my dd! Blush

I think the moderators need to get a better grip on the facebook group, they've got a load TeamRH people in there getting obsessive about macros and calories. I'm not very comfortable with TeamRH at all, the fella acts like a pound shop Andrew Tate and bullies people who don't succeed on his program. He made it big by 'telling it like it is' or as I like to call it, being a gobshite.

Edited

I thought that. Apart from it not being the right place to talk about RH, it alienates a lot of people if they aren't following the same plan but the only conversation going is about that plan! Not very engaging at all for most members.. I did have a look and the exercises look mean so not cool if you need slow exercise plans due to sore knees or similar. Being overweight I find moving fast in an exercise class very difficult. I will avoid.

@MrsMidgeMaisel Please don't be ashamed of your weight. Obesity is a medical condition and not just "greed" and "laziness" like lots of people want us to think.

The main thing is we are all here trying to treat our over eating symptoms and become healthier. It doesn't matter if we don't become "thin" or get into those size 12 jeans anymore (I will be delightedif I eventually get into a 16). So forget shame and congratulate yourself for trying to improve your health. 🥰

I wouldn't stress about it for now. Mine were received last Friday and I received my pen yesterday

Welcome

I know how you feel regarding shame and embarrassment but I think hey ho, this is an anonymous forum so I might as well be honest here. It is the only place I feel I can be.

My DH doesn't know I've signed up for this, and has no idea what I weigh.

Come on over to the Mounjaro 10 st or more to loose thread if that's the right one for you, otherwise there are 7st to loose I think and definitely 5 st to loose threads instead .

After yo yo dieting my entire adult life and now finding it even harder being menopausal, this is do or die (probably literally given my BMI) for me and it has to both work, and be the last time I yo yo back up

Hi, of course we're all friendly in here 😁

I'm the same to be honest. Had the same shock recently.
Two stone heavier than my full term pregnancy plus put on around 10lb since November without changing any eating habits. It's scary how weight can pile on.

I think we all have similar drivers for losing weight. For me it's not what the scales say as I don't care much but I've got a size 14 holiday wardrobe I'd like to be safely in by April as I didn't want to go up a size if I'm trying to lose this year it's just wasting money . X

RachCmomma · 24/01/2025 14:04

Ahhhh my pen has just arrived!! Only sent bloods off on Monday so really impressed with Shemed! I'm a bit nervous about doing the injections.

Gonna go and do it in a min.

I've loved reading all of your journeys- hopefully I'll be one of the lucky ones with no SE and a decent 1st week loss x got about 7 stone to lose...so feeling pretty nervous x

Amazing news! Hope all goes well! I’ve got around 7st to loose also. Don’t let the nerves get the better of you, just read it all and go slowly ☺️

Excited to see what happens.
Good luck everyone. X

I still can't get over this, we've had a big box of Cadbury chocolate delivered to the office this afternoon as a thank you from a supplier so it's been opened and offered around...I turned it down! I don't feel like I'm missing out at all. Long may this continue

Morning!!

Welcome to those who have joined the thread for the first time and congratulations on those doing their first dose especially!!

Great to hear everyone's updates. It's my shot 3 day - I decided to check in early tk weigh and will do the jab after work.

0.9kg this week and it could technically be less as I've moved to morning weighing but it is what it is and it's a long term game we're playing.

Side effects - I was struggling with nausea and fatigue but that wore off midweek thankfully. I actually found myself picking at some leftovers yesterday for the first time (did make me wonder if the nausea was the reason I d been eating less!!).

After your third check in you get to do the feedback/next short order. They do ask if you're happy to go up. And ask about side effe ts too.

I assumed each time they jab they ask you to do the side effects form so I thought they were collecting that but maybe not?? I might not keep telling them if not! It's worth those of us that have the chills ticking the other box so they know about it I think. But there is a space to write other on the 3rd week refill questionnaire.

I've seen they take payment when it goes through so be wary that means 2 lots of 99 in the first month in effect. I like that it's this early though as it gives time to get the prescription and have the next pen ready!

I took my third jab on Wednesday and I possibly have also had a bit of nausea and although I definitely eat less I am still eating a lot so I'm looking forward to going up to 5mg, I've not filled the form in yet as I'm still away and I don't want them to send the medication and me not being in. I've also not weighed yet but having been on a ski holiday with breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, canapes, starter, main course and dessert I will be ecstatic if I stay the same!

OneAzureMaker · 24/01/2025 15:59

Jab 3 today and I have lost 5.2kg in 2 weeks. Including 1 kg this week, I have to say I was surprised it was only 1kg given the amount of time I spent on the loo and I didn't eat for 2 days!!

Next pen is ordered, and I presume has gone to 5mg.

I don't know if this is useful for anyone, but I use the 'weight tracker' app which is free and has a lovely graph and works out your BMI, a much more visual way of seeing what's going on than the Shemed app.

Bigknickers56 · 24/01/2025 16:05

Yikes, just took the first jab. Now I am sitting here waiting for side effects! My DH just came home and asked me if I had lost any weight yet 😆

Love this for you! Amazing loss 😍
I have my weigh in and second jab tomorrow can't wait xx

SianyEvs40 · 24/01/2025 17:34

It has arrived! 😁 I'm going to weigh and do the first dose in the morning and hope for minimal side effects. I'm going to an ABBA tribute concert tomorrow night so I'd prefer not to 💩 myself 😂😂

Great to hear how everyone's progressing!

Yay to fellow Friday jabbers 😁.

So I clicked do the pharmacy prescription and realised all our third week questionnaire answers get sent to the gp. I'm not sure I mind but I wasn't expecting that! (pretty sure mine will ignore it).

I also panicked there was a bit of fluid on my skin after I pulled the injection out. I think from Google that's not uncommon but made me worry I'd missed some of the drug!

Quite excited to be going up to 5 even though it's in 2 weeks! I came home from work and wanted a snack which hadn't been how I was earlier. I had one and am fine with it just aware I'm more aware. I think for me it will be good to go up. Maybe the placebo effects wearing off 😂. It felt genuine though!!

I didn't get a call from the pharmacist - just an email to say it had been paid for/despatched.

Great to hear how everyone is getting on. My box arrived earlier and DH asked "Fridge item, what's that?" It's labelled on the side of the box. I ended up telling him and he's supportive so all good.

Feeling a bit coldy so might wait until next week for my first jab.

MelodicStarfall · 24/01/2025 20:06

So D2 was going well. Not really hungry so had granola breakfast and decided to eat a chicken and rice salad lunch ... I told myself I would stick to the same dinners as usual but just much much smaller portions. On Fridays we have homemade pizzas (I make the dough) which is the kids fav.

I made myself a tiny one (about the size of my hand). Instantly regretted it. Feel so sick 🤢 .

MelodicStarfall · 24/01/2025 20:08

Pretty sure it's the cheese as it was a veggie pizza. Def wasn't my best idea

PurpleClare50 · 24/01/2025 20:20

@MelodicStarfall I was talking with my mum earlier who is on an nhs oral one pic trial and she has experienced the same with pizza this week but is noticing more and more that she can't tolerate cheese.
I think it's the high fat content and causes acid reflux and makes us feel sick.
