Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

Feeling frustrated! It is a really silly thing to be annoyed about, but I gained 1lb between today and yesterday. My suppression is such that I eat a really small amount up until day 4, do well on day5, and then not so great on d6 and d7. I have been allowing myself to have two biscuits on those last few days. I used to happily eat a whole pack. I had takeaway last night. I didn’t eat close to all of it, but it was spring rolls and other hugely unhealthy things. The lb I can lose but it does leave me feeling worried about maintenance. I don’t know if I will have to totally cut out the sugary stuff. And/or the occasional takeaway (which actually I mind less because I have realised that the only thing I really like is not having to cook, because they don’t taste nice!?!).

I guess my question is what healthy deserts are there?? Or are there really none?

Make home made biscuits. Make home made cake. You can then decide who much sugar is in them and work out accurately the calories in both. No nasties in them either which undoubtedly have caused a rise in obesity.

You have to live, you cannot punish yourself for eating a single takeaway. You’ve got this πŸ’ͺ

Berries and cream has always worked for me. I also love a bit of Greek yoghurt with shredded coconut and a bit of honey. Puddings are the hardest bit of dieting for me.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 02/02/2025 11:58

It’ll be the salt in the takeaway rather than the calories, @phyllidafosset. It’ll probably be gone by tomorrow. I’m up too after yesterday’s takeaway.

Well done all on great losses. I love the way on this thread that it doesn't feel competitive at all - just inspirational.

W14 D1 and a milestone for me as I have lost 2 lbs this week to take me to 2 stone - and 12 stone exactly. It also takes my BMI into tΔ₯e overweight category.

It will be interesting to see what happens next as this has been one of my set point weights over the years (a maximum in my younger days & and a minimum in the years I have struggled to lose weight at all!).

It would be really nice to go down into the next stone bracket!

Arglefraster · 02/02/2025 12:57

@phyllidafosset
Fruit
Greek yogurt with berries (& chia/flaxseed)
Or honey
Dark Chocolate
A proper dark chocolate mousse
Sliced up Apple microwaved with cinnamon

A small bit of not overly healthy occasionally would work too I think?
I like the clothes on carbs idea - eg a brownie has less effect on blood sugar if eaten with cream /greek yogurt (& always with a meal rather than as a snack etc)

Congratulations! I’m still 1.2lbs away from my 2 stone badge…

i’m like you - seem to get to 12 stone and stall, but I’ve got 11’s as my starting weight now and I’m determined to see 10’s. I’m enjoying finding β€˜new’ gear in my wardrobe too much to go back to my old ways so I guess finding a new motivation is going to be the key for all of us. πŸ’ͺ🏻πŸ’ͺ🏻πŸ’ͺ🏻πŸ’ͺ🏻

Little tubs of ice cream work well as a dessert. As its portion controlled. I have the little bags of Maryland cookies too as they give me the joy of a few biscuits without the rest of the pack to tempt me.

There are protein mousses out there but I found the one I tried vile.

Ooohhh. That is a really interesting thought. It does normally go really quickly. I was thinking the issue was my two more hungry days at the end of the week, but I hadn’t thought there may be other things wrapped up in that (e.g. salt). Not that I will be eating takeaway every day, but it feels challenging to think it is never possible. Thank you πŸ₯°

I have discovered that protein shakes I love, but even with that the idea of a protein pudding does sound very off!

good idea about the small sizes, although previous I would have eaten 2 or three πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Great suggestions, thank you. These are actually all things I like - I should bring them back to my diet! I tried the Zoe thing before this and I struggled to stick to it, but I think partly because the weight didn’t come off as I had hoped (and as it would have pre-50). I was thinking I should have a look again, as a long term way to try and maintain the weight loss. I think it would be good for those β€˜sandwich’ solutions.

Have you tried making a vegan chocolate mousse? It’s basically avocado and dark chocolate. Sounds dreadful but you wouldn’t know it was avocado based unless someone told you.

Oohhh! Someone made me one years ago but I will try it myself. Great idea.

Congrats on the great loses for those that have been blessed and commiserations to those of us that are a bit stuck.

I did Park Run and Body Pump yesterday and 22,000 steps over the course of the day and went to Pilates this morning and have made soup for my lunches this week. I stocked up on protein powder yesterday and got some β€œvegan collagen” too, as I sent DH a selfie of me at Park Run and I looked ancient. Not sure it will do anything as vegan collagen isnt a real thing.

I’ve got another 5mg pen to start next week, which probably should have been 7.5 but I only have around 10lb more to lose and I think if I can do it at 5mg without mega suppression I am more likely to be able to come off MJ, probably deluded though.

If I had my time again, I’d have started HRT a few years before I actually started taking it. part of my symptoms were feelings of being overwhelmed and hopelessness when I was never normally an anxious person. Does that sound familiar? I think looking at the whole endocrine system as a whole, you might want to explore balancing your reproductive hormones at the same time as your appetite ones. Nothing wrong with Anti Depressants but it was the standard issue ten years ago rather than exploring if HRT was more appropriate. Maybe chat to your GP?
If 7.5mg works without issue, I’d have a look at taking that instead? Or splitting your dose across the week?

I am on HRT as well (Oestrogel, plus the progesterone coil) Have been for approx 2 years so that has all settled down - hence why I think i can finally come off the anti-depressants now that anxiety has been managed. I just forgot that that could impact the MJ feeling........

MsRumpole · 02/02/2025 15:10

Went to the pictures today. I had a small bag of popcorn which took about an hour to eat, and shared a bag of Minstrels between three. And that's lunch, which is very new for me - previously I would have had a massive bag of popcorn and a bag of chocs just for me and then quietly gone mad once I'd finished them all within twenty minutes of the film starting, and then I would have had a huge lunch!

evilharpy · 02/02/2025 17:53

2lbs off this week which I was a bit grumpy about till I realised it added up to 30lbs in total. All those little 1lb and 2lb losses since November are really totting up.

A few years ago I spotted a jumper from Hush that I absolutely loved but it was out of stock everywere and I've never managed to get a second hand one... until today when I finally found one on vinted. Except it's a size small and I'd currently need a large. That's now my incentive.

Also finally got back on my spin bike which was lovely and feel like whatever was making me not do it has been dealt with.

Work has been mental this week so I'm way behind catching up with everyone's updates.

@murraymcgill congrats on your below 13st milestone and also on being the weight you were at 21! I wish I was the weight now that I was at 21, can't believe I ever thought I was fat haha!

@phyllidafosset sugar free jelly and a bit of low fat squirty cream maybe? Bit of crumbled digestive or hob nob sprinkled over if you want a bit of crunch?

Goldleafcat · 02/02/2025 18:14

Well done everyone on their amazing losses and milestones! You are keeping me motivated.

Today is jab day (need to move it back to a Monday really but have been a ravenous beast the last couple of days so jabbed to try to keep from falling off the diet wagon). I used a syringe to get the bonus dose and ended up with ~0.7ml from a 7.5mg, which is I think is about 8.9mg? Maybe a bit much given my next pen in the fridge is still a 7.5 (though ordering a 10 for next month). Will see if it gives me a boost (or diarrhoea πŸ‘€).

In other news ordered a raincoat from TU after seeing recommendations on MN, I knew it was oversized from reviews. They only had L and XL. Braved the L, it arrived yesterday and is literally flapping off me (I can turn around in it with it barely shifting) (bearing in mind I’m 5ft 6 and still around 14 stone 12). Would never have ever thought an M would be right (sizing is clearly batty). Sadly no longer in stock. Mixed emotions because I actually really liked it! They have the petite in stock but I have a long body (and shorter legs) so not meant to be.

Amelanchier · 02/02/2025 19:08

I am finally into the 12s! Just! Yay! So that is just over 1 stone off in total since starting MJ. Another 19lbs before I am out of obese though so a long way to go.

RayonSunrise · 02/02/2025 19:17

Happy weekend, fellow jabbers! So pleased to hear you're having good clothes-related non-scale victories. πŸ’ͺ

I'm still getting lighter slowly & surely, but I've had a setback this weekend. I've fallen and irritated my ankle, which I've sprained a few times in the past. It feels like a mild sprain now - I can put weight on it but can't walk properly, and definitely can't run or do any weight-bearing exercise. I'm really annoyed. I'm only slightly mollified by how nice the husband and teens are being about fetching and carrying for me so I can rest it.

So, tomorrow I may need to try and see my GP and just double check I've not done anything worse than a mild sprain. URG.

Oh no sorry to hear this. Definitely take care of yourself. My ankles used to be incredibly dodgy - they’d give way at any given moment (one notable incident was when I sprained both at the same time, I was on holiday at the time and it took me ages to get back up. So painful. A tourist literally stepped over me to look at a plant, tutting all the while. Bastard.)

ShaunaSadeki · 02/02/2025 20:06

Hope it’s nothing serious and gets better quickly @RayonSunrise

murraymcgill · 02/02/2025 21:30
