November β€˜24 starters thread 6 - The one where it’s still January but we keep losing πŸ’ͺ🏻

Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

Guess who’s back! I got to catch up with chat on the thread. Hopped on scales this morning relieved to find tour holiday damage non existent πŸ’ͺ🏻. I did do a lot of lengths (for me) in various hotel pools and even used the gym facilities once. And even more excitingly I managed to extract the bonus dose for the first time using needles. The Frio cooling wallet worked fantastically.

As we were disembarking at Heathrow got message that Pen 4 was delivered.

So week 14

SW : 15stone 12lb / 100.7kg
CW : 13 stone 7lb / 85.7kg

Total Loss so far 2 stone 5lb / 15kg.

Only 2 stone to before I am merely overweight πŸ™„πŸ˜

So another month on 2.5. May go up to 5 for next pen depending upon next couple of weeks. Now I am going to read rest of thread x

Edited

Welcome back! Congratulations! That’s a real achievement after a holiday! Excellent losses πŸ‘πŸ‘

W13 D1 - 9th dose of 5mg

S/W 16st 7
C/W 13st 2
G/W 11st ish

As per my previous post, my BMI dropped in to the overweight category, which gave me a huge boost. I did have an β€˜off-plan’ meal Saturday night, and a couple of drinks, but the thought of alcohol causing poor food choices stopped me having too many!! I had some Dairy Milk last night, and it just didn’t taste right… which was both disappointing and promising at the same time. Chocolate is (was) my nemesis, so if it’s not that enjoyable then it gives me hope for life post-Mounjaro.

I'm also wearing a pair of Levi’s that I couldn’t get over my thighs not that long ago, and the top I wore on Saturday (which was snug this time last year) swamped me.

I've had a few wobbles abut what weight to aim for over the past few weeks, thinking maybe I should keep pushing below hitting a β€˜normal’ BMI to give me some wiggle room, but my DH pointed out the other day that I was very happy with how my body looked at 11st (back in 2015!!!) and that even if I get below that weight, I’m not going to look the same. I’ve had two children, one by c section, and surgery which changed my upper body. Visually, I’m never going to look how I used to, and I’m ok with that. My body has survived a lot since I was thin and I need to be proud of that. It’s not all about the numbers on the scale, I need to find my happy place in the mirror and in clothes, which I don’t think is going to be as low as the BMI calculator would like.

So, for now, I’m keeping on keeping on. Extra dose from the pen next week then another 5mg order I think.

We’ve got this!

I love the positivity in this post! I think we all need to accept that we won’t look like we did when we were 21 or whatever but accepting that we are comfortable and happy is the main focus rather than the numbers on the scales. You’ve had some great losses, congrats πŸ’ͺ🏻

I’m back from my work trip and holiday!

I Managed a small loss while I was away which I’m amazed at as I did eat a lot of cheese! I was also fairly active which I think helped.

I did not like being away from scales and not being in control of my diet was a challenge!

SW 90
Current (Post holiday) weight 77.3
Total loss 12.7

will be eating fruit and salad for a while as the dreaded constipation is back!

Am hoping my diarrhoea was linked to high dairy and fat content of my diet so will see if eating clean helps!

Am on the verge of being in the 11 stones (yes I flit between units for milestones!) haven’t seem them for about 8 years!

So pushing for the next 2.4lb loss then I’ll be chasing for being sub 75kg

well done everyone on their results, and if your scales are sticking I wish you a whoosh!

Morning.
Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

I'm a whopping 1.75kg down this week, which is great. Could have been the full 2 if not for hungry Sunday.
8.7kg down, so nearly 20lbs which finally feels substantial.
I was snacky on Saturday and hungry on Sunday, but I can't move up to 7.5 because day 2 and 3 side effects are still a lot. I threw up my lunch last Tuesday, sulphur burps were extreme.

I've previously thought about changing my injection day to make weekends easier but for now I'll take a slower loss and work on self control on weekends.
I'm not going crazy, food noise isn't too bad, but I'm feeling hungry, there's not much suppression and so I eat more. Across the week I'm still in deficit.

Great loss for this week! Congratulations!

W13 D1 - I didn't update last week, but it was a nice solid 4th weekly drop of 2 lbs, and have been pretty steady at 0.5" off my waist each week too.

Last week was my 3rd on 6mg and I had quite a noticeable drop in suppression - coupled with a work trip (lots of tempting food on offer), I've had a flat week with just 0.25lb drop. Nudged to 7mg when I jabbed last night.

Overall progress remains excellent and I'm super happy:

SW 12st 13
CW 11st 3.75
GW 10st 10

Total waste loss is ~6".

I've basically just half a stone to go and DW is starting to say 'you're nearly there'. Wondering if I should keep going as I am at the moment, until I reach target weight, or start to taper off now for a slower drop over the last few pounds. Will check in on some of the earlier starting threads to see how people are doing with this.

Ooh so near! Congratulations on the inch loss - awesome!

Lots in the press today about tighter rules for private pharmacies prescribing WLIs. They're doing the right thing but I'm worried this will make long-term maintenance access harder. Will see what the online pharmacies start to say in response.

Cantbesure · 04/02/2025 09:42

@MounjNewb I can just see this being an additional cost. It's unlikely the pharmacies will absorb this. I'm going to move to oushk next I think with my eye on maintenance. I think they already do a paid consultation.

murraymcgill · 04/02/2025 10:43

Had diarrhea since Friday but on a good note I had constipation all last week bad thing is I'm away to my wee caravan so it a fast run with crutches up to the toilet block please pray for me today because I think im gona need it

I think it’ll be more expensive - add a gp consultation at the start. That said, I’m not sure that isn’t a good thing. I’ve seen so many things on here where people are trying to get the jab when they are 9stone and want to be 8 etc.

I think the nhs should be better when it comes to supporting weight loss but I knew my own gp would have told me eat less and move more. No shit Sherlock.

TeenLifeMum · 04/02/2025 10:58

My jab day moved to Monday (because I forgot last month so delayed a day) and now I’ve forgotten again. I guess jab day is now Tuesday! Interestingly I’m not ravenous. Last night was dress rehearsal and I only had 2 Pringles (not a whole tub) and 3 malteasers (I’d happily eat a whole packet previously). I feel like I’ve started eating more normally. Show week is hard to be healthy with rushing and back stage treats but we’ll see how I go.

nsv - my costume for the show has had to be taken in loads. I’ve bought a couple of bras yesterday and gone from 34GG to a 32E (I can see my feet again).

It won't be GPs though @TeenLifeMum they don't have capacity. Med express wrote to my GP and got a snarky response back about my GP not being responsible and MEx needing to ask me for my medical records.

On the oushk FB group they have posted their current response to the proposals including holding a dated note in photographs and a video consultation.

I have a view towards maintenance and wonder how this or moving providers might be affected. I'm half a stone away from BMI of 25 but a stone away from 24 and then on so I have a way to go yet and wouldn't want to get cut off. My losses are relatively slow so I probably have another 4-5 months yet.

Private gps - paid for by the consumer. Or specialist nurses. It will be an additional cost for sure. I don’t meet the criteria any more but only because I’ve had success with the jab. Still over weight. Hopefully I’ll be done before they bring it in.

Della82 · 04/02/2025 12:01

Thanks @phyllidafosset i was very pleasantly surprised!!!!

I do think my cycle timing has helped but I’ll take the win!

and I do wish well to everyone who is on a plateau, it is so frustrating and historically has caused me to abandon diets. This is the best support network for us all on our journeys and I love this corner of the internet πŸ‘

Selkie9 · 04/02/2025 14:34

It's been a while since I checked in again, but I'm at a total weight loss of 15.5kg which means I'm only 2kg from my goal weight! And I'm finally into the normal BMI category which I'm so pleased about.

I have one full 5mg pen left to use, and I'm hoping it will be my last or second last pen . Only injected 0.5ml instead of 0.6ml on Monday as I plan to taper down on the dose.

I am starting to feel a little nervous about maintaining weight, I've not counted calories throughout this journey and am wondering if I will need to be more "careful" with my diet going forward.

KentishMama · 04/02/2025 15:24

Update on the fun side effects:
I had another bad night of running to the bathroom every few hours, and it's continuing today. Everything just runs straight through me... And this is now day 4 of it. I'm exhausted!

I've spoken to my fancy endocrinology professor, and he says that he recommends that I drop down from 5 mg to 2.5 mg for now. He says this is much better than trying to take additional medication to manage side effects, as that would be a "merry go round".

Hope this is useful info for fellow sufferers...

ShaunaSadeki · 04/02/2025 15:25

Amazing @Selkie9! Please share your maintenance journey too, I think there is a thread on this board

Congrats! That’s fantastic, well done on getting so close to your goal weight! Not far to go at all!

As
@ShaunaSadeki said please do keep us updated on how you get on. I’m determined this is the last time I let my weight spiral upwards so any tips and details of successful maintenance will be amazing.

For those that have had diarrhoea as a side effect, do you take Imodium? Should you? Shouldn’t you? Does it make a difference? Just wanting to be prepared, just in case…

I have taken Imodium, it definitely helped me. No idea if you should or shouldn’t but I needed to not have an β€œaccident” or emergency toilet situation πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I saw that. The procedures do look sensible though and I hope will remove the people trying to use it as a quick lifestyle fix as opposed to us here trying to shift considerably more and are genuinely trying to overhaul our lifestyles. Fingers crossed that the pharmacies distinguish between maintenance prescriptions and those trying to get it to lose 6lbs quickly!
