Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

weekly check in

Age 47 5’3”

SW 12 stone 2
CW. 10 stone 2
GW. 9 stone? I have no idea!

week

  1. 2.5
  2. 2.5
  3. 2.5
  4. 2.9 (bonus)
  5. 5
  6. 5
  7. 5
  8. 5
  9. 5 (bonus)

That’s 16.5% loss and BMI now only a smidge over 25!! Body fat still 37% but that’s better than the 40+ it was.

Advice/ recommendations welcome on the following:

what are you doing about lose skin?

great skincare? Previously Elemis/gatineau but feeling a change is needed. Medik8?

Well done! Great losses there.

Loose skin - I’m doing a Pilates based programme 5 x pw on top of cardio

Skin care - I’m using a nuface device each far on top of a pretty comprehensive skincare routine which includes an evening retinol and a morning vitamin C.

At the end of week 10 I’m feeling much more positive and despite the bumps in life and lack of sleep, I’ve managed to go in the right direction.

age 42, height 5’4”
sw 12st 9
cw 10st 12
gw 10st 4 (ish)

8lbs to goal weight.

I need to up my activity in February so that’s the next step… more steps.

πŸ₯³ 1/2 stone to go is amazing!

I started 10mg last week and I was really nauseous Sat to Tuesday, not great but I was still able to crack on. Wed/Thurs still good suppression and the Fri (yesterday) low suppression. Injected another 10 yesterday and I have been a little nauseous today but not half as bad as last weekend.

I hadn't lost anything on 7.5mg at all but dropped 2.5lbs for my first 10mg weigh in so I'm really happy with that, after having a moan on here the other other week!

Ooh that’s a great result! Considering if I need to move up from 5mg to 7.5mg for my next pen or stick where I am. I think I need to see how the next couple of weeks go for losses after my blow out weekend to see what is my β€˜normal’ before deciding…

First goal reached, scales at 12st exactly today AND that means I'm officially overweight rather than obese.
I'm 5'3 and started at 13st 3lb 12 weeks ago.
Next into the 11s!

I've been very happy with slow and steady but suddenly feeling impatient for more dramatic results as I'm thinking about warmer weather and wearing something apart from heavy jumpers.

Does anyone have psoriasis or eczema?

My skin is looking amazing, haven’t had a flare up since starting MJ and yesterday I had a Chiropodist appointment and she commented on the improvement of my skin .

That’s a great result! I don’t have either condition but I think there are so many hidden benefits to MJ that we don’t know about yet and just shows how important balancing hormones is overall. Enjoy the relief from the flare ups!

@Mounjaropen what moisturiser are you using in the morning with the vit C treat? My day and night creams both contain retinol but I am getting to the end of them (and my current serum) and considering changing the morning one so I can use a vit C treat.

@IInvisablepanic I started 8th Nov lost 2st 4lbs I'm happy with that but not doing the toilet doesn't help 1 but so I'm doing my best tonight to sort that out as I weigh tomorrow I'm desperate to get below 13st I just wish i could do a bit of exercise that would help I'm using a resistance band to sort my wobbly arms

Any resistance work or weight bearing will help, it doesn’t all have to be mad cardio. Keep going πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

I could already feel it come on yesterday, so was ultra careful with small amounts of bland food. I've not eaten anything adventurous all week, so I can't see that connection. I've literally gone through every meal in my head..

That does sound strange, although I do have the opposite problem. I guess we’re all built differently!

Random NSV: I had a takeaway tonight. I always order the same thing from this place, and I used to eat it all and still feel hungry. Today I ate maybe half of it and left the rest. I enjoyed the taste but I don’t want or need to eat it all, and I’m really full on what I did eat. This drug is like witchcraft!

It is weird isn’t it? I used to drive past a maccy D’s and every couple of weeks β€˜treat’ myself to a breakfast or a lunch. Now I just want to get home and have a salad πŸ˜‚

Well you’ve done really well and given your steady losses you’ll be another 1/2 stone down by the start of next month and another stone by the end of March - well ahead of β€˜Beach body ready’ season.

Keep going and start looking at the clothes you want to buy in April. I put items into a virtual basket and don’t check out so that the forms send me a discount voucher. I got Β£20 off my new fancy Pvolve mat (I know I can’t wear it, but the principle is the same) from Healf this week πŸ˜‰

Wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for a firming body cream. Well aware that results are highly unlikely to be dramatic or permanent but every little helps. I can see I am going to have some loose skin though maybe not as much as I was worried I would.

lostinchaos · 02/02/2025 09:48

I have also had a number of slim friends and family members tell me not to lose anymore weight as I will be too skinny or it will age me etc.... and yet since then they have been dropping into conversation how they've miraculously dropped half a stone since I last saw them. 🀣 I hate competitive dieting, especially when it's my mum who is the worst culprit and probably the cause of my disordered eating in the first place. I'm just quietly getting on with things but it is annoying that I feel they are scrutinising my appearance whenever I see them now. More positively I think I've just edged my way into a new stone bracket... so 13 pounds to go to target! 🎯

I use whatever one I have from my stash after the Liberty advent calendar / beauty kit purchases. At the moment I am on an Elemis collagen one from the QVC offer that comes in around November (would highly recommend) then I have an Augustinus Bader one to use from the Liberty Calendar and then my absolute fave, Kate Somerville Power Peptide to use which was part of a kit purchased from Caroline Hirons (I only purchase her kits when this product is included as it is more ££££’s than I can justify as a single purchase). I’d also recommend the Inkey List peptide moisturiser as a great dupe and it is really good value.

The most important part of a morning routine is a good quality SPF though - especially if you are using a retinol/Vit A treatment in the evening. If your day cream has retinol in it, it is especially important that your SPF is a high factor to avoid breaching your skin barrier.

Other products I rate are Oskia Vit C capsules, Prai neck cream, NIOD fractionating eye serum and the Strivectin Peptight range - all excellent for old girl skin like mine πŸ˜‚

I’m now looking at post weight loss treatments like Morpheus8 or softwave as I do think I might be left with a turkey neck 😭

Maybe it's not just fatty/spicy/rich food that I need to watch out for? It could be something else.

I just looked back at what I've eaten on Thu/Fri:

  • Thursday: Milky coffee for breakfast. Handful of nuts and seeds mid-morning. Sourdough roll with ham for breakfast. Got home super late due to train issues (the joy of commuting), and couldn't be bothered to cook, so had cucumber and carrot sticks and wholemeal rye crispbread with hummus for dinner.
-Friday: milky coffee, sourdough toast with honey late morning. Early dinner of baked aubergine with tomatoes and mozzarella cheese.

I've not done well in terms of protein, I guess, but I've really gone off meat and eggs recently. And I should perhaps have avoided the mozzarella cheese on Friday night, but I had the baked aubergine already prepared in the freezer and I have eaten it a few times without issues.

Oh well. I guess I hope all will be peaceful again next week, and if not, I'll give my endocrinologist a call.

I’m sceptical that a cream can actually firm skin but I am religious in applying a rich body cream and taking time to massage it into the skin which I think makes the difference to your skin’s appearance. I do rate Aveeno which I stock up on when it’s on offer on Ocado and the price point means I don’t get annoyed when DH decides to use it.

Competitive dieting is the worst. My friend's mum made a comment along the lines of, "Ooooh, I'd like some of the pills you're on please!" I didn't reply, but honestly, it rubbed me up the wrong way. I'm only in this situation thanks to cancer treatments, and I'd much rather not have to balance 2 types of cancer and an endocrine malfunction and all sorts of medical hell every day.

Rant over, back to normal programming.

Mums have a lot to answer for, don’t they? My own was always commenting on people’s weight when she was obese herself. It was like she had no mirrors in the house…

I made a conscious effort to never mention food/dieting/other people’s weight when DD was growing up. No β€˜good’ food or β€˜bad’ foods either - just eat what you fancy in moderation. I also encouraged her to choose full fat options - one real coke won’t kill you but advising that consuming fake sugars in a diet option might not be the best choice. She’s never been overweight or upset with her body.

It might’ve been the stress of the delayed commuting and eating later than you’d like which was a factor? Hope you feel better soon!

phyllidafosset · 02/02/2025 11:12

Feeling frustrated! It is a really silly thing to be annoyed about, but I gained 1lb between today and yesterday. My suppression is such that I eat a really small amount up until day 4, do well on day5, and then not so great on d6 and d7. I have been allowing myself to have two biscuits on those last few days. I used to happily eat a whole pack. I had takeaway last night. I didn’t eat close to all of it, but it was spring rolls and other hugely unhealthy things. The lb I can lose but it does leave me feeling worried about maintenance. I don’t know if I will have to totally cut out the sugary stuff. And/or the occasional takeaway (which actually I mind less because I have realised that the only thing I really like is not having to cook, because they don’t taste nice!?!).

I guess my question is what healthy deserts are there?? Or are there really none?
