November β€˜24 starters thread 6 - The one where it’s still January but we keep losing πŸ’ͺ🏻

Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

Oh I do have a NSV, or rather a non scale observation. I do think my face is looking a lot better. Before when I’d catch a glimpse of myself in a window / lift / mirror I’d be like β€˜meh’ but it seems to be less of a horror now. I know people say losing weight can make you look older / more haggard but in my case it’s the opposite (at least for now…).

I was once on one of the weight loss threads before MJ days and a lot of people reported that losing weight meant their jowls disappeared. Unfortunately, I’m at the age where I think the jowls are a permanent feature but we live in hope!

edited to say I pressed sendtoo soon! We love a slimmer face, NSV!

Can I just say, I’ve just taken delivery of a pair of size 10 non-stretch jeans from Zara and they fit! <happy dance> A bit tight on the waist, but denim relaxes as you wear it and I intend to keep losing anyway. Mind you, I have size 12 Zara jeans that are smaller than these, so it’s definitely the new baggy style working in my favour, not purely weight loss, but I will take size 10 any way I can get it. And ignore the 30 inch waist Levi’s in the corner that are still too small.

Great losses! I remember the chickenpox days at that time you were encouraged to actively get your child to catch it. Mine failed to do so at any of the chickenpox parties and then months later she developed it whilst we were on holiday in Dubai 😭

Oh no, what a nightmare! Their timing is always β€˜perfect’ isn’t it!

Under normal circumstances I’d be fine (ish) for him to catch it to get it over and done with, but not ideal timing at the moment. Oh well. Will see what the next few weeks bring.

Have just ordered poxclin and some oat bath sachets from Amazon just in case so we are prepared for when it does happen!

The dream! Even at my slimmest in recent years (2020) Zara clothes never sat right on me. One day hopefully!

I thought I was at a bit of a plateau a couple of weeks ago, but I’ve carried on and think I’ve got over that. I’ve just ordered my 4th pen, I’m sticking to the 5mg as I’m happy enough with how I’m doing and happy to stave off hunger rather than suppressing completely.

My next weigh in is on Sunday, and I’m hoping to break into the 13st territory. I tried a dress one from my wardrobe today that I’ve had for years. It’s a size 16 and has never got over my thighs/bum before, yet I got it on today. I think I still need to lose a few lbs for it to look nicer on, but getting it on was a win!

Finally hit 12 stone πŸ₯³ started at 14 stone so halfway to goal (10 stone - ish). Didn’t lose last week and was feeling a bit fed up but have now had the β€˜whoosh’ thankfully x

Woohoo! I'm about where you are. 1.8lbs off my 2 stone mark when I get to 11st11 and then I want to get to 10st or under.

Would love a whoosh but my indulgences last weekend mean I would just be happy staying where I was for this week!

Are you still on 5mg? I’m debating whether to go up but 5mg seems to be working ok for me

I think that menopause creates a new internal boiler so a sensation of needing to put the heating on is new for me πŸ˜‚

The heat in Qatar is insane isn't it? Especially if you have to wear work clothes and not a swimsuit. When I had to visit there for work, I was lucky enough to have a driver waiting for me at all times with the A/C on.

I did very little outdoors anything when I was there 😁 I felt like my 10 minutes on the beautiful balcony, and travelling from air conditioned car to air conditioned building and back was a perfectly respectable vitamin D dosage 🀣 But it was a fascinating place.

My menopause radiator hasn’t kicked in yet (or it will be faulty, which is clearly not a bad thing). I think hypotension and poor circulation (which I don’t think are related) are more my issues at the moment.

I was trying to remember when I was here last.

Hi. Anyone know how long it takes to receive Mounjaro from medexpress. I ordered today - first order from them.

thanks

phyllidafosset · 29/01/2025 18:37

So, my knew gym habit is going pretty well. I’m going mostly twice a week (bar being away on a work trip last week.

Today I tried the body metrics stuff, because I thought it would be good to try and work towards health in fitness (I am feeling age smack me in the face since I turned 50).

What I found out is that I am not exactly the weak mess I thought I was. In fact, I apparently have the body strength of a 21 year old!?!!! How this is humanly possible is utterly beyond me. I can’t hold a plank, I can’t do press-ups, compared to your average gym bunny/yummy-mummy/granny I am a mass of wobbles, wings and rolls. BUT it has really made me laugh (I can’t really believe it) to know that if you need someone to almost push a car, I seem to be your woman 😁🀣🀣

Strength without fitness or stamina is clearly not entirely useful, but it anything that says I’m 21 I’m taking 🀣

I’m staying on the 5mg. It is giving me really good suppression for 3-4 days, and I have been getting an allergic reaction to the jab itself so I think another month makes sense. I think if it is working it is worth giving it another month.

I am. This is week 1 of my 3rd 5mg pen. I have no real side effects and decent suppression so I can’t see the need at the moment.

This is awesome and I would absolutely enjoy it!

My stamina and fitness levels are abysmal, but my leg muscles are INSANE. I blame this anomaly on a bike I had as an early teen - the gear (had only one) went dodgy and a repair shop β€˜fixed’ it - essentially ever after it was really hard to cycle (like going uphill) so I ended up compensating. Aged 13 / 14 I had a super fit friend who regularly ran and did long distance runs. If we went out together and I was on the bike I obviously overtook and went way ahead. Other way around - I could outrun her easily whilst she tried to keep up on the bike. I ended up with calf muscles which I came to hate (especially for knee high boots). They are still here to this day.

I’m hopeless everywhere else πŸ˜†

The bike that was stuck in the impossibly low gear made me giggle. I can imagine the calf muscles as a teenager were NOT what you wanted, but playing the long game, that muscle strength probably has served you well! I can NOT cycle uphill. I have to get off and walk (bearing in mind my cycling is restricted to about 50 metres at a time at Centre Parcs), so I do not know what this 21 year old muscle strength is doing for me?!! I will see if the muscle strength is any use in building that stamina and fitness. Once I have worked out how to measure those on my body scanning app thingy I might discover that my bio age is more like 74 (and watching those grannies zumba, they can way out-zumba me!).

Did my last 7.5 injection last weekend but I have barely lost any weight over the last two weeks … still have 6 stone to go so it isn’t that I’m nearing my goal. Have had heavy period but would this account for the plateau?
