Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

Arglefraster · 27/01/2025 18:30

@ShaunaSadeki did you use a syringe to get at your dose last week? The pen just looks like there has been medication removed not via the clicks so the pen needs to be turned to make up for the removed medication (the grey bit moves down when medication is removed so if removed not via the plunger there ends up being a gap)

Not sure I'm making this clear πŸ™ˆ

Ah thanks, that is helpful. I didn’t use syringe last week I just took the amount it let me have (as it wouldn’t let me plunge back to 0 (if that makes sense?). I will give it another twist and see if the plunger will go down to meet the grey bung bit.

Maybe that means I didn’t get that much last week and my good choices were more down to will power than I thought they were?!

Arglefraster · 27/01/2025 19:00

@ShaunaSadeki I hope you can muddle through what did the pharmacy say about the pen not working last week?!

There are wee bumps on the side of the clear plastic bit that correspond to each dose (where the grey bung should be) so you should be able to see if more/less liquid remains than you would expect

ShaunaSadeki · 27/01/2025 21:17

I didn’t tell the pharmacy as have moved from Numan to Oushk and have had the pen a while as it was delivered prior to my holiday so I thought they are unlikely to do anything especially as it was on the last official dose.

i am back from the gym now but DH and DD are knocking around upstairs so will wait until tomorrow in case I need to go down the syringe route.

Just catching up as I feel like it’s been a while since I last posted. I’ve done three jabs on 7.5mg now and fourth is due on Thursday so need to think about moving up again. This shit is getting expensive! I get great suppression the first three days but without fail by day 4 I’m back to having intrusive food thoughts. It’s bloody exhausting. I’m about 18lb down since starting which is ok but tbh I’d really hoped for more as I have so much to lose. I do deffo feel more jelly like rather than solid fat if that makes sense and I think I’m going to have a loose skin problem if I manage to shift a good chunk more.

Id been stuck on the same weight for a couple of weeks, just bobbing the same pound or two off but the last few days has finally seen it moving again.

I started MJ in mid Nov (first bit of weight I lost on my own) so the graph isn’t as steep as I’d like from that point but it is definitely going in the right direction!

I was thinking this morning we hadn’t heard from you! Glad things are shifting along, keep going!

Ahh that makes sense- I was just interested in what had actually gone wrong with the pen πŸ˜†
Hope it plays ball in the morning!

Week 12 (still continuing on 5mg)
SW 13stone 3
CW 10 stone 13
GW not sure

Morning all haven’t been posting too much as work has been crazy, and I went through another β€œstuck” patch but today is a milestone as I’ve broken into the 10 stone category. This has been hard work comparing to the first month where the weight just seemed to fall off me. I’ve been doing some intermittent fasting which doesn’t feel like such a chore when the suppression is good. I’ve really had very little in the way of side effects so I feel super lucky really this drug does truly seem to agree with me. As I’m now around top of the healthy BMI range I’m thinking to keep doing to get to somewhere about the midpoint. How long that will take I don’t know ….
I think my main tools in this journey have been aiming for the 10k steps, cutting out white carbs and fried foods and sometimes doing a bit of intermittent fasting. Oh and eating a full on salad first (like a starter) then a decent protein portion at mealtime- this seems to really satisfy me. One of my friends who has a really lovely figure suggested this. She always eats in this way…seems quite French and I’ve enjoyed adopting that idea.

evilharpy · 28/01/2025 07:40

Finally - 2 stone off!

Fantastic news! Congratulations!

There is evidence that at any meal if you eat even just a mouthful of the greens on the plate before anything else, your body does something which means you will gain less weight. I’ll dog out the study and post it here

Hi JTT! πŸ‘‹ lovely to read your catch up, I’ve been off ages too. Your graph is v inspiring- lovely down line, well done! πŸ‘ How do you find the side effects with stepping up doses? I couldn’t hack 5mg so have stuck with 3.75 for now but also would like to shift more downwards and wondering when to brave the 5 again.

V similar to you am bobbing quite a bit and would like to banish the food noise more, overall loss similar to yours at 20 lbs. Well done on getting the scales moving again the last few days!

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 28/01/2025 12:07

ShaunaSadeki · 27/01/2025 17:59

After posting last week about my pen breaking on dose 4, today is the day for dose 5. The pen turned quite easily but the plunger has detached from the grey end of itself.

Has anyone had this? Will it still plunge? Or am I better to person up and try the insulin syringe method?

Others may have already replied but I’d just go for the insulin needle, I actually found it totally fine and if anything, I found the action to push it was easier/ smoother than the pen, just a straight press. I tried not to push the whole of the 8mm needle in as is longer than we’re used to with the pen but actually it all went in and was totally fine, easy peasy and felt no different. Online I’d checked the method and pinched a bit of flab as a cushion when injecting. Make sure when you’re priming to give it a good tap with the needle pointing upwards to tap the air bubbles out, was more bubbles than the pen.

Invisablepanic · 28/01/2025 12:57

Started 10mg on Friday and woke up feeling really nauseous on sat, continued Sunday and tapered off yesterday. Suppression was really high but I found eating a little helped with the nausea. I've had a little nausea when stepping up before but this was worse, although I still managed to have a relatively normal weekend with a sneaky nap on Sunday. I was also freezing all weekend.

I had been battling heartburn but since cutting way down on caffeine that's helped (I was having about 7 green teas a day, now at 1).

I’ve been very lucky that my side effects have been minimal and continue to be as I titrate up. I feel instantly nauseous after injecting but then I go straight to bed and sleep it off, I feel a bit headachey and tired the next day but then that’s pretty much it for me. I lean towards a bit of constipation but nothing serious.

phyllidafosset · 28/01/2025 13:05

Do you ever get those epiphany moments, when you have been sitting thinking about the fact that you feel tired, lethargic and unmotivated (and a little bit down in the dumps), and then you realise it is because you haven't eaten anything yet!?!(off to eat)

Oceangrey · 28/01/2025 13:10

I've upped my exercise recently, did something quite full on last night and have felt really shaky today in spite of coffee and eggs this morning.

I've just had some tuna pasta in case it's a need for carbs. Is that likely? Or something else?

In weight loss news I'm down another 1.5lb today which is about what I'm losing each week, hooray.

Amelanchier · 28/01/2025 13:45

Checking in...About to do W12 jab (still on 5mg but planning to go up for the next pen). Suppression wearing off D5 and not so strong other days but minimal side effects. I am making better choices, fewer cravings but my desire for a glass of wine is coming back after losing the taste for it but I am avoiding it for now.

SW 14 st BMI 37
CW 13 st BMI 34.4 and the lightest I have been in 7 years.
Next goal is to be out of obese, BMI under 30. I.e pre perimenopause hormonal changes.
Final BMI of 24 would be great but depends on how long it takes since I am such a slow loser

So just 1 stone off which is nothing compared to many of you But measurements are changing and clothes look better and 4x faster loss than I managed pre MJ. Typically averaging 1.5lb a week with a little bump around Christmas.

Yes! I've been sitting in the evening thinking I felt cold, and then thought back to what I've eaten and realised it's probably around half of what I'd have eaten before...

Oh my goodness yes, I get the cold thing too! I'm currently freezing. I am on my strongest suppression day.

It does make me think how doing Mounjaro in summer heatwave might actually be rather good - it would be like having an in-built AC system πŸ˜‚I'm currently imagining how lovely it would be to be basking outside in the oven-baked Qatar summer heat (where I have visited once and managed about 10 minutes outside before having to seek refuge inside)!!!

I think that menopause creates a new internal boiler so a sensation of needing to put the heating on is new for me πŸ˜‚

The heat in Qatar is insane isn't it? Especially if you have to wear work clothes and not a swimsuit. When I had to visit there for work, I was lucky enough to have a driver waiting for me at all times with the A/C on.

Dh bought me a heated blanket for Christmas after weeks of me being freezing (I’m always cold but this was another level). It’s my favourite thing ever for my work from home days.
