November β€˜24 starters thread 6 - The one where it’s still January but we keep losing πŸ’ͺ🏻

Mounjaropen · 17/01/2025 08:33

Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

W12D1 - 8th jab of 5mg. One more left in the pen (and possibly the extra dose if I can get it out) and I think I’m going to stick at the same level for another month.

S/W 16st 7
C/W 13st 5
G/W 11st ish

I am teetering on the brink of β€˜overweight’! 2lb more to lose and I’ll officially be out of the obese zone. I think I’ll be doing a little happy dance when that happens. A β€˜healthy’ weight feels really attainable at the moment which is keeping me away from the chocolates and sweets that my family were inhaling over the weekend. I can really see it now as well, not just on the scales, which is another huge motivator.

Well done! Such a great feeling when you are no longer obese isn’t it!

I’ve not had a great week - no calorie counting, bigger than normal meals and eating chocolate. Puppy still bringing disturbed sleep and tiredness is definitely my trigger to eat, like my body is searching for energy in crap food. Also some petty friendship stuff (close friend pulling away which has made me sad, but it is what it is). I have other friends but this one hits. The passive aggressive fb memes she’s posting are helping me see who she is πŸ™„

On the plus side, I’ve not gained. I’m still 11st so need to focus this week if I’m going to move to the 10s (this still feels like an impossible achievement but let’s see).

Well you haven’t gained so that’s a big positive. Sorry to hear about the friendship stuff, that’s very tough and frankly a bit mean girls isn’t it? I hope your family has given you support. Give the puppy a big squeeze from me πŸ₯°

Morning! The scales have dropped a tiny bit but I’m still not in the next stone bracket either, grr! Apparently eating butteries and almond croissants (not on the same day) doesn’t aid weight loss, who’d have thought it? However, I am now officially halfway to a BMI of 24.9 - Shotsy says 52%, so I’m pleased with that. 11 stone 0.4 - so close to being in the 10s! Started my second 5mg pen on Saturday, and I think I’ll definitely order 7.5 for my next one. I think I have a couple of good weeks and then a couple of slow weeks, but it would be interesting to see how a higher dose affects that.

Yay! Well done! Fingers crossed for a whoosh for you this week!

We need to implement an official sulking corner for people who are stubbornly stuck just on the wrong side of the next stone down or hitting a milestone.

I actually mixed myself up this morning by attempting to post before I had caffeine. I'm not 0.4lb from the next stone, I'm 0.4lb from hitting my two stone. But still a reason to sulk, and sulking is what I'm doing.

@evilharpy πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ yes, I’m not usually a sulky person but weight loss (or lack of) brings it out in me.

Caplin · 27/01/2025 10:46

Morning all,

First off thank you to everyone who was so lovely last week when I was feeling very low. I think three weeks of a virus and chest infection just knocked the stuffing out of me physically and mentally.

I've started to feel better, the cattarh has eased so the queasiness has passed. I think MJ and cattarh are not happy bedfellows! I even managed to go out to dinner on Saturday and ate a reasonable amount for a change. I have noticed my appetite creeping back, even if I can't eat much.

I have now officially lost just over 2 1/2 stone, so that is good. It is starting to be noticable, although I still have about 4 to go!

I toyed with dropping back down to 3.75 due to having such high suppression and a bit of food revulsion, but I think some of that was illness, so will give 5mg one more week and see how I get on. If it is still a nightmare for the next few days then I will drop back.

Managed to get back to the gym for the first time this year and get back to strength training, and whilst I felt a bit like bambi, it was good that I finally had the energy!

Next step is get my diet and protein back on track as that all fell off a cliff as I could barely stomach anything!

Give them back an old one 😁

Heehee is tempting! but unfortunately I think they would clock the open box packaging and then bill me for it! (£214! 😬😱🫣) much cheaper with Cloud.

Such a shame and waste of a pen though, when it could be put to good use shrinking my hips and tum! Oh well

A new puppy is a nightmare for sleep. I am struggling with morning fatigue on Mounjaro without that! And Monday fatigue 🀣 It has to be okay that there will be weeks in our lives that are less good eating. You haven’t gained, which is great! I am not at all an expert, but does it help to think that for a couple of weeks, while you are all puppy adjusting, you will focus on maintaining, and loss will be a bonus, and you will work towards your move to those 10s a tiny bit slower? And if you manage it next week, AMAZING, but you WILL get there whenever it happens.

Friendship changes are horrible. It is painful and disappointing. But no friend should be posting unhelpful, unkind or passive aggressive anything on facebook.

LindtCurves · 27/01/2025 07:02

I’ve made very little effort this week (one workout, hardly any steps, eating ok but not fantastic, not enough water, definitely choc and cakes in the mix) and I’ve lost nothing.

Goes to show that the drug doesn’t exactly lose weight for you, you’ve still got to put the work in!

Although I do really do have to do cardio to achieve results it seems! And it also seems to be the type of diet I eat rather than number of calories for me. Throw bread and cookies in the mix and I have no chance, also the more I eat that type of food, the more my body wants it. Whereas if I stick with my veg and fish, that’s what my body wants.

I am exactly the same - if I eat NO cake/biscuits I’m fine without it. But as soon as I start, that is all I want. That shift in age (50s) makes me think that the only way forward is to eat as little as possible πŸ˜’ Which is a shame because I love cake and biscuits. But it is a balance between shape/health and biscuits. I’m going to have to keep training myself to only want healthy stuff.

jay55 · 27/01/2025 12:20

Just a tiny .25 of a kilo off this week. Was super hungry yesterday and ate accordingly.
Deffo have a full digestive system and expect a bigger loss next week.
The rest of the week was good. Sticking with 5mg for another pen. The burps have calmed down and food noise is low most the time. A protein snack sorts it when it rears up.

Be glad for January to be behind us and lighter evenings ahead.

My boyfriend bakes the most amazing bread though and made a special loaf for me so saying β€˜no thanks I’m eating better’ wouldn’t have exactly gone down well! I may have to ghost him πŸ‘»πŸ˜‚

I didn’t eat any these types of food up until Christmas but have told myself to be less severe and strict now, but the truth is I probably have to be quite severe and strict.I do genuinely love my new diet and the foods, and I feel so much better eating them/ enjoy the cooking. It’s just that when I allow myself UPFs or daily little treats even when my calorie count is ok, it does take over and become a habit.

My food choices seem to be very much β€˜train the pallet’ based as you suggest.

I am the same. I used a hypnosis app years ago to put me off sugar. It worked amazingly well and once I stopped eating sweet stuff I found I just wasn't interested in it anymore. Unfortunately it started sneaking back in over Covid probably out of pure boredom, and the app didn't work the second time. I did however also use a chocolate-specific one and have never touched or wanted chocolate again - this must be about 7 years ago so it's definitely worked in the long term!

I haven't really touched anything sweet since starting on MJ - had a small bag of yogurt-coated raisins over two days and a couple of bottles of lucozade when I had horrific diarrhoea that may or may not have been MJ related - but have completely lost interest in all of it. I'm hoping if I stay off it for long enough I'll just stop wanting it as I did before.

phyllidafosset · 27/01/2025 13:41

@LindtCurves and @evilharpy the other thing that makes it hard is how much sugar is in EVERYTHING. So it isn’t like you can have just a little easily.

For chocolate, I try to only eat 85% dark chocolate. That is weird stuff because it satisfies a craving but I don’t ever want much. Mainly because it isn’t very nice 🀣 There is no cake/biscuit alternative - although I’m impressed the hypnosis worked for so long. I’m hoping I can learn to not like sweet stuff. But I think winning the lottery is more likely 🀣

And a bread-baking boyfriend sounds almost perfect (aside from the carbs issue). I hope you manage to re-channel that baking energy towards delicious healthy main courses 😁🀞🀞

Della82 · 27/01/2025 13:47

Apologies for the silence, I’ve been travelling for work and am now on holiday. Not weighed myself since last Wednesday when I left, I was 400g down then.
My diet hasn’t been brilliant, but it could definitely have been worse.
i am drinking most days as well.
Hoping I won’t put on too much weight.
i had horrific diarrhoea yesterday but think it was due to eating all the cheese! I can’t avoid bread and cheese this week but I know I will be good when I’m back home.
Well done to everyone who has lost. And for those that haven’t well done for owning it. We can’t be good all the time!

Good point! I pretty much exist on veg and meat/fish, and fruit + yoghurt as a sweet treat. It’s a nice way to exist, feel so much better overall.

I do like the dark choc but same as you, small quantity is sufficient. have several untouched bars in the cupboard.

In terms of bread/cake/biscuit products though, they actually make me feel unwell now… I used to love ice cream too and haven’t had interest now for months.

Well… He loves his food and drink, everything is handpicked, artisan and lovely. And not one to restrict his food enjoyment, or stop giving me delicious calorific gifts! So yes I think he needs to go! πŸ‘» it’s him or my belly rolls!

Surely someone else must have a family member or friend encouraging them to treat themselves!

So sorry to hear all this Caplin I missed tons of posts as we’ve been squarely in the sick camp too for weeks and weeks now. Am currently looking after all of us (DH & 2 DC) am hoping hoping this will blow over soon, has just been relentless.

Glad to hear you’re getting back on your feet and wishing you a quick and full, robust recover soon πŸ™ x

Exactly! Even a 'tiny' loss like that every week would be 13kg/2 stone a year.

JasonTindallsTan · 27/01/2025 17:49

Just catching up as I feel like it’s been a while since I last posted. I’ve done three jabs on 7.5mg now and fourth is due on Thursday so need to think about moving up again. This shit is getting expensive! I get great suppression the first three days but without fail by day 4 I’m back to having intrusive food thoughts. It’s bloody exhausting. I’m about 18lb down since starting which is ok but tbh I’d really hoped for more as I have so much to lose. I do deffo feel more jelly like rather than solid fat if that makes sense and I think I’m going to have a loose skin problem if I manage to shift a good chunk more.

Id been stuck on the same weight for a couple of weeks, just bobbing the same pound or two off but the last few days has finally seen it moving again.

I started MJ in mid Nov (first bit of weight I lost on my own) so the graph isn’t as steep as I’d like from that point but it is definitely going in the right direction!

After posting last week about my pen breaking on dose 4, today is the day for dose 5. The pen turned quite easily but the plunger has detached from the grey end of itself.

Has anyone had this? Will it still plunge? Or am I better to person up and try the insulin syringe method?

November β€˜24 starters thread 6 - The one where it’s still January but we keep losing πŸ’ͺ🏻
Arglefraster · 27/01/2025 18:30

@ShaunaSadeki did you use a syringe to get at your dose last week? The pen just looks like there has been medication removed not via the clicks so the pen needs to be turned to make up for the removed medication (the grey bit moves down when medication is removed so if removed not via the plunger there ends up being a gap)

Not sure I'm making this clear πŸ™ˆ
