Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

@PinkArt yes, I'm a mere tiddler, at 5ft πŸ˜‚ (with the pre-MJ appetite and ability to eat like a 6ft strongman, unfortunately) πŸ™ƒ

Cantbesure · 26/01/2025 17:50

I'm the same height @MontyJinks so have the same numbers. Also aiming for 8.5 stone which will be a BMI of about 24. I was 7 stone when I was 16. But I was v slim. Not a size I can see myself as now in my 50s!

Ah that makes more sense! I think I was taller than that at 9 πŸ˜‚
I stopped growing very suddenly at 13, when my hips started growing outwards as rapidly

One update is have switched to Cloud pharmacy and all good with them so far πŸ‘ had to do the dreaded full length pic again, aargh!

Not a moment too soon as Voy got my dose mixed up and sent me two pens! 😱 thankfully only got charged for one or I would have had a heart attack! They are collecting the extra one tomorrow, as shame really as they said although I haven’t opened the packaging they have to destroy it. I cheekily asked, if you have to destroy could I keep it free of charge and they said no. Oh well, thought it was worth the ask! πŸ˜‚

Hope you’re all having a good weekend. Next week I’d be happy if my hubby and kids can stay sickness free and would love to re boot our family meals including mine! Need to get back to basics, snacking on crackers way too much.

Give them back an old one 😁

I vaguely remember being around 9 stone when I was at college, so must have been 16-17, and perhaps the last time I felt 'comfortable' with my weight. I've only got a few days left of being 'in my 40's' so looking forward to fully embracing being fit and healthy into my 50's and beyond 😍

Is anyone else absolutely freezing most of the time?

I just can’t seem to warm up after getting cold so after a walk with the kids earlier my ears still hurt!

Yes and I am normally never cold! It's a known side effect as hormones influence body temperature. Heating bill certainly up this winter!

Also I think if you have less 'padding' you feel colder regardless...

KentishMama · 26/01/2025 23:15

I've also been feeling cold a lot of the time. I used to be quite comfortable at 19 degrees room temperature, but anything under 20 is torture at the moment. I've had the wood burner in our snug on every night, and my cat is very very happy about that.

DarkForces · 26/01/2025 23:21

I'm sticking with 5mg for a third month and happily my supplier has reduced their prices so that was a nice surprise.

My electric blanket is doing overtime and my nose is sooo cold!

Hi everyone, sorry I’ve barely posted for ages, have had a lot of family illnesses going on, kind of just want this winter to be over now.

namechangedyetagain a huge well done on your 15kg loss so far! πŸ‘ Also just to encourage you about the weekly loss, it’s still great progress and slow and steady is meant to be good way to keep it off long term too. I’m losing about a pound a week at the moment and some weeks no loss.

How we feel emotionally plays a huge part of how we see ourselves and others, I’m sorry you’re feeling low/ depressed and hope you have support IRL as well as on here. Sending you a big hug today and I think you’ve honestly done brilliantly, keep going πŸ’ If you’re on meds for it maybe worth having a chat with your GP, to make sure the MJ isn’t interacting with it and reducing the effectiveness? I’ve had to increase one of my medication doses a bit since starting MJ but is all good now am on a higher dose.

I don’t know if this will make you feel any better but I’ve lost 1 stone 5lbs so far and still squarely in size 20’s shape wise. It’s a long game with this wonderful drug and we will get there! πŸ€—

Great to hear from you! Congratulations on the fab losses! Hope the family is now getting better πŸ’

Thanks for the chat about BMI, it's prompted me to have a play around with the calculator this morning.

My 'healthy range' is between 6.11-9.2 stone 😲

I've never been slim, so don't know how being in a healthy range will look for me. I chose an arbitrary target of 8st 8lbs just for a vague number to aim for. But in reality I will just see how it goes/how my body looks when I get nearer. I want to feel healthy and strong, rather than achieve a certain weight I think.

I mean, 6 stone something is just laughable, to me that's child-sized, not a mother of 4 sized 🀣

To be honest as a lifelong overweight (and obvs a very very short) person 🀣 I'm only just allowing myself to believe that thanks to this bloody miracle of a drug that I will ever be at a healthy weight, but for the first time, I do now believe it to be achievable.

Weigh in day today: 11st 3lbs, I'm very nearly halfway there πŸ’ͺ

Halfway is a great achievement! Congrats! πŸ’ͺ

πŸ₯³ I’d love a 3lb loss but I’ve caned the wine this weekend πŸ˜‚

End of week 12
Or W13 D1
I have had an annoying week of pound on/off but am claiming it today as
SW 14st
CW 12st 2
GW low 10s

I have only lost 4 pounds in January but have had two weekends away so it is OK. I am going to increase my dose from 5mg to 7.5mg as I don't want to lose momentum.

NSV : Lovely friend said I looked like I had lost weight today (first person to notice!).

Well done! Not just on the loss, but also the compliments πŸ₯°

I’ve made very little effort this week (one workout, hardly any steps, eating ok but not fantastic, not enough water, definitely choc and cakes in the mix) and I’ve lost nothing.

Goes to show that the drug doesn’t exactly lose weight for you, you’ve still got to put the work in!

Although I do really do have to do cardio to achieve results it seems! And it also seems to be the type of diet I eat rather than number of calories for me. Throw bread and cookies in the mix and I have no chance, also the more I eat that type of food, the more my body wants it. Whereas if I stick with my veg and fish, that’s what my body wants.

Well it’s good you know all of that for your post MJ life. We’re all going to have to eat like post war Britain I guess…!

@Mounjaropen how are you enjoying pvolve? I found a (generic) slant board for a bargain price on Vinted so just waiting for that to arrive before I sign up.

I was 0.8 lb from the next stone last Wednesday and I'm still 0.4 lb away now ffs. MOVE stupid scale.

WellyBootsandPuddleSuits · 27/01/2025 09:25

W12D1 - 8th jab of 5mg. One more left in the pen (and possibly the extra dose if I can get it out) and I think I’m going to stick at the same level for another month.

S/W 16st 7
C/W 13st 5
G/W 11st ish

I am teetering on the brink of β€˜overweight’! 2lb more to lose and I’ll officially be out of the obese zone. I think I’ll be doing a little happy dance when that happens. A β€˜healthy’ weight feels really attainable at the moment which is keeping me away from the chocolates and sweets that my family were inhaling over the weekend. I can really see it now as well, not just on the scales, which is another huge motivator.

TeenLifeMum · 27/01/2025 09:26

I’ve not had a great week - no calorie counting, bigger than normal meals and eating chocolate. Puppy still bringing disturbed sleep and tiredness is definitely my trigger to eat, like my body is searching for energy in crap food. Also some petty friendship stuff (close friend pulling away which has made me sad, but it is what it is). I have other friends but this one hits. The passive aggressive fb memes she’s posting are helping me see who she is πŸ™„

On the plus side, I’ve not gained. I’m still 11st so need to focus this week if I’m going to move to the 10s (this still feels like an impossible achievement but let’s see).

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 27/01/2025 09:34

Morning! The scales have dropped a tiny bit but I’m still not in the next stone bracket either, grr! Apparently eating butteries and almond croissants (not on the same day) doesn’t aid weight loss, who’d have thought it? However, I am now officially halfway to a BMI of 24.9 - Shotsy says 52%, so I’m pleased with that. 11 stone 0.4 - so close to being in the 10s! Started my second 5mg pen on Saturday, and I think I’ll definitely order 7.5 for my next one. I think I have a couple of good weeks and then a couple of slow weeks, but it would be interesting to see how a higher dose affects that.

Try not to be hard on yourself - I know from first hand experience how a puppy can turn your world upside down for the first few months. You will get through it (I say as someone with one dopey former puppy asleep on my lap, snoring, and the other (the one who caused me all the trouble) asleep on their bed) it’s a bit like the newborn stage isn’t it, all about survival.

Sorry to hear you’re having some friendship problems, I hope it all sorts itself out. I think the pain of a friendship fading can be harder to deal with than the pain of a relationship breakdown sometimes.

Well done on maintaining, that’s definitely a positive!!

We need to implement an official sulking corner for people who are stubbornly stuck just on the wrong side of the next stone down or hitting a milestone.

I actually mixed myself up this morning by attempting to post before I had caffeine. I'm not 0.4lb from the next stone, I'm 0.4lb from hitting my two stone. But still a reason to sulk, and sulking is what I'm doing.

Thank you @WellyBootsandPuddleSuits I’m usually quite optimistic but feeling a little low. Sleep deprivation is rubbish. I’m going to step back from friend, having left the ball in her court. Self preservation on that one. I’ll nurture my other friendships.

Good morning! I absolutely love it. Not been doing much as have been away since last Thursday. I can really see the change in my body shape which has worked well because I took a couple of closer fitting dresses away and DH said I looked really trim and elegant. He’s a keeper this week.πŸ˜‚

The generic board sounds interesting! Well done you finding all the bargains on vinted! I’d recommend starting off from the beginners program so that you understand form and how to use all the equipment and then work up to the various different challenges which will mean you attempt classes that you probably wouldn’t have chosen yourself. Good luck!

Thanks! I will start from the beginners program. I'm so out of condition and have no stamina at all, hard to believe I used to be super fit (even taught fitness and pilates classes). I'd love to get back to that point.

Husband is definitely in the good books eh!
