November β€˜24 starters thread 6 - The one where it’s still January but we keep losing πŸ’ͺ🏻

Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

I’ve slowed to 1lb loss a week, which is frustrating after the initial excitement and big losses. Still a stone at least to go. I was hoping to be at target by my birthday (end of March) but I think I’ll still be going at this rate.

Female, 42, 5’4”
sw - 12st 9
cw - 11st (why is it so hard to get down a bracket?!)
gw - 10st 2 (ish)

Cantbesure · 23/01/2025 08:33

You've had a week of it @lovealongbath Hope everything is ok now. The scales will catch up I'm sure.

It’s been a very difficult week, if nothing else I thought I would have lost a few pounds in water loss as I have cried so much!

Cantbesure · 23/01/2025 11:16

Awww @lovealongbath there's probably some scientific explanation about stress and cortisol. How's your son doing?

Cantbesure · 23/01/2025 11:26

@TeenLifeMum 23lbs is a great loss. And at a pound a week you'd be 2lbs away from target by 27th March.

My loss averages 1lb a week. Hoping to be at my target by mid April. That means I'll enter summer at a healthy BMI.

My son is very subdued! Emotions have changes as people have had time to reflect.

Although he is ok, there is a family whose lives will never be the same and they are completely devastated.
Even writing this I have started to cry.

However on a more positive note, just been for a walk and clocked up over 5000 steps, so happy with that.

Does anyone have a cross trainer?

Cantbesure · 23/01/2025 11:34

Oh @lovealongbath I'm so sorry. That must be so difficult for you both. Whilst being incredibly grateful it's not your family going through that.

Well done on doing 5k steps. I'm so cold wrapped in a blanket at my desk. Hoping to get out for a run later but need the draw of other people. I know I won't do it left to my own devices.

I know it is, but I’m the least patient person πŸ˜‚

I’m loving my clothes feeling loose even though I’m not quite able to drop a full dress size yet. My boobs are also more normal - 34E rather than the GGs I couldn’t see my feet over and although still a 34, I’m on the tightest hooks now.

I really need to get more active but ddog gets tired on chemo so walks are shorter at the moment and the puppy isn’t able to go out until Tuesday. Plus the weather β„οΈπŸŒ§οΈ well done to those getting steps in. I’ve considered a running machine but don’t really have the space and think it’ll just be in the corner after a month cluttering up the place.

Work is soul destroying (under valued with director scared of change so unable to actually made a difference and move with the times) and no sign of other opportunities so I need to find a way to survive without turning to food (work is easy and well paid so I’ll stick it out while dc are home).

Cantbesure · 23/01/2025 11:51

@TeenLifeMum I'm not very patient either. And I sometimes find it difficult reading the posts from others who are shedding weight at a rate of knots. It's W10D1 for me and I've only just hit a stone. But I know I wouldn't have lost this stone without MJ and I do feel confident I can lose the next stone too. I'm also ancient so slow is probably better for my skin. But I wouldnt be upset to see a sudden whoosh! My boobs have gone from 34GG to 32F but they will have to make do with my old bras for now πŸ˜‚ and I've gone from a 14 to a 12. I wish I'd considered this before buying jeans in a 14 on Vinted. Now I need a belt 🀣

How is your puppy? Have they settled in? Lots of lovely puppy kisses?

PinkArt · 23/01/2025 12:01

Thank you for reminding me exactly why comparing ourselves directly to each other isn't helping any of us@Cantbesure!
I am losing at quite a decent speed..... But I'm currently 17 stone something and would cry with happiness if I was a size 12 and dance in the streets naked!! Frankly I'd probably do that at a 14 too πŸ˜‚
Onwards and downwards for everyone though and that's the man thing - not how long the race is, or who finishes first, but that we are all running it.

Cantbesure · 23/01/2025 12:03

Exactly @PinkArt our journeys are all different. I'm incredibly short so a 14/12 doesn't look the same on me as on others. I'm like a barrel!

TeenLifeMum · 23/01/2025 12:11

@Cantbesure i can squeeze unflatteringly into size 12 but really I’m a 14. I was wearing 14s at my buffet but I think in reality I was a 16 in denial. I’m have wide hips so A-line dresses all the way. My jeans are a 14 and loose (how I like them) but I think 12s would give me a full muffin top right now. At 10st in 2018-2022 I was running 5-10ks every week and did a half marathon early 2020, but I was still a 10-12 on my hips. I’m happy with a 12 being my norm as I’m naturally curvy I think I found it easy to ignore how bad my weight gain had got.

LilyRose88 · 23/01/2025 17:02

I'm definitely a slow loser and I've decided that I am happy that way. I did consider going up to 7.5mg for my next pen (I've been on 5mg since the end of November) but I ordered another 5mg in the end. I'm a bit worried that I would be more inclined to put the weight back on if I lose it quickly. I did ask Asda about maintenance doses and got an ambiguous message back from their doctor which implied that they would provide a maintenance prescription once my BMI gets down to around 23. As ZAVA provides the back end of the Asda pharmacy services that makes sense, as ZAVA does say on their website that they provide a maintenance service.

Interestingly my Mounjaro prescriptions are now showing up on my NHS app, so Asda/ZAVA does notify your GP. I'm happy with that actually, as it shows that they are a bona fide company (in my eyes anyway).

@Cantbesure me too - I’m 5’2” and at BMI 32 I was a 12-14. This enables me to practice ridiculous levels of self-deception about how fat I actually am.

My MedExpress email today was about avoiding stress … extract here. Hope DS is doing well πŸ’

🧘 Stress less

Morning stress can raise cortisol levels which can cause cravings and lead to increased fat storage around the belly, making weight loss harder.

Aww that sounds like a lot. Keep going. When work sucks it is difficult to stay motivated…

What about a folding treadmill? It definitely helps get the steps in (and you can watch trash telly πŸ˜‚)

Old bras here too! I think some of them are older than DD (who is at uni) πŸ˜‚

Thanks πŸ™ I got that email too.

I have just watched a video of a very brave girl only wearing underwear who has lost a huge amount of weight … And the loose skin!! . It was an eye opener for me so slow and steady is fine by me.

It’s the main NHS app which most of us downloaded around about covid times. I don’t think it’s an English thing. Most GP’s in my area use it for repeat prescriptions/appointment booking etc.

Thanks @Mounjaropen and @SerenePeer. I think @SerenePeer is right and NHS Scotland was going to develop their own but didn’t. Or something. I would love the ability to see my health info and <shock horror> book appointments online!

I have eaten too much today and feel uncomfortably full and very yucky. Lesson learnt

Facial booked for Saturday morning, skin boosters and micro needling. I feel like I’m seeing the benefits from the polynucleotide facial. Definitely feel like it looks better.

weight down to 10stone 4 which is nearing 2 stone loss

Asda only notify your gp if you give permission. They ask each time you order though. I always say no because my gp is a village one and he can be a bit old school. I just can’t face the conversation.
